Walked past one branch and saw the waiter stood outside picking his nose and forcibly trying to flick the bogies off his fingers. Had to scowl at him as I walked past.

Ive been pondering this lately, say for example people from abroad came to leb to experience our cuisine, where would you take them?

Kenafa = l'abeille d'or, any branch.

Foul, hummus & others = Fady, Jal el Deeb. Edit 1: El Sousi Zeidaniyeh street in the Mar Elias area

Manakish = Christo, Ashrafiyeh near Sawt Loubnan radio station.

Shawarma = Joseph, Sin el Fil.

Sfiha = lakkis farms is good but if in Baalbeck find a local butcher would be way better.

Subs, Burgers, Asbeh = Sako, Nahr road Mar Mkhayel.

Lebanese cuisine, kabab, kafta, She2af, Nayeh = Abo Jihad, Jal el Deeb.

Shams restaurant, Anjar. Edit 2: or his new branch Mirna Shalouhi highway

That's if you want the good tasting food and not just the known names

Recommendations would be best if you would exactly let us know what area and food varieties you wish to taste.

Al sousi is one of the bests too and that's why I asked about the area, options would vary If in the north as for the mountains or shouf or south..

Depends on budget and location really.

Fi plenty of AAA Lebanese restaurants like Babel and Em Sherif and Mounir and Al Halabi and Diwan and Burj Al Hamem and Mhanna and the list is really endless.

I guess Em Sherif and Babel stand above the rest but they are the most expensive out of them all.

Best authentic Lebanese food in LA?

Posted by Johnny_____Utah · in r/FoodLosAngeles · 3 years ago

Hey y’all been looking for the best Lebanese food you can suggest. I’ve tried Marouch, Dune, Anwars, and a couple others who’s names escape me. I gotta say I’m super underwhelmed I’m likely spoiled though since I did come from the one area of the country that has the best Lebanese food in the US arguably.

If anyone can please recommend some spots you believe are worth a try id love to hear them! Bonus if you know any good middle eastern bakeries that does traditional breakfast.

Thank you in advance!

Where are you coming from? I have this same problem coming from Detroit and while I haven’t found an exact match to what I’m used to from home, I’ve found a few good ones. My favorite right now is Furn Saj. Carnival is also pretty good. I’ve heard good things about carousel in Glendale as well but I haven’t been yet.

Pro tip: Try their bakery on the opposite side of the street from the restaurant on Westwood blvd. Ask for an assortment of meat fillings in fresh bread they make right in front of you. You wont be dissapointed.

Al Shami closed down?? I grew up on those shawarmas between '97 and '08!

I tried Al Beiruti on SZR last night:
Service and vibe 10/10
Food 8/10 (zaatar hummus, batata harra, mixed grill)
Shisha 7/10 (lemon + orange + mint)

Reasonably priced IMO.

Paramount fine foods - Not authentic but I did like the sheesh tawook and toum (garlic sauce)

  • Lala Moulati (Umm Suqeim)

  • Lfassia (Barsha)

  • all Moroccan restaurants in Abu Hail/Hor al Anz East, in particular Boughaz al Maghrabi

A quite old one in Barsha is Jebel Atlas but I would first advise the aforementioned restaurants

Try also Lala Moulati, it’s very good, reasonable prices, and in a nice place.

I’m a fan of tajine with lamb prunes almonds apricots, an issue that I find often is the lamb cut having a bit too much fat, that goes by luck with all affordable Moroccan restaurants

The best Lebanese food in LA area is Skaf’s in Glendale. Amazing and authentic, tastes like my family’s cooking.

Best more formal sit down in my opinion is Carnival in Sherman Oaks. Really good quality.

Open Sesame would be my third recommendation.

As someone who grew up with authentic Lebanese food it’s hard to find great options, but these 3 definitely hit the spot.
