What Redditors are Saying

Best Lincoln SUV

TL;DR The Lincoln Aviator and Nautilus are popular choices for luxury SUVs, with the Aviator offering more power and the Nautilus providing more rear legroom. The Corsair is also highly regarded for its loyalty awards.

Lincoln Aviator

The Lincoln Aviator is praised for its luxurious feel and smooth ride. Owners appreciate its powerful 3.0 twin-turbo engine, which offers a significant upgrade over the Ford Explorer [1:7][3:2]. While some early models had minor issues like sunroof leaks or backup camera recalls, these are generally considered fixable [1]. The Aviator's UAW-built status is a selling point for those who value supporting union workers [1:5].

Lincoln Nautilus

The Nautilus is another strong contender in Lincoln's SUV lineup, winning the "Luxury Mid-Size Utility" award [4]. It offers excellent comfort and entertainment systems, making it a great choice for families [1:12]. The Nautilus provides more second-row legroom compared to the Aviator, which can be an advantage for families of four [3:5]. However, some users note that the 2.0 engine in the Nautilus is weaker than the Aviator's 3.0 engine [1:10].

Lincoln Corsair

The Corsair has been recognized for its model loyalty and wins in the "Luxury Small Utility" category [4]. It's noted for its quiet ride and reliability, with minimal issues reported by owners [2:2]. The Corsair's design and upgraded seats with active motion massage make it a comfortable choice for long drives [2:3].

Customer Service and Reliability

Lincoln's customer service and dealership experience receive mixed reviews. Some users report positive experiences with recalls and warranty services [2:2], while others have faced challenges with appointment scheduling and repairs [2:4]. Overall, Lincoln vehicles are seen as reliable, with many owners expressing satisfaction with their purchase decisions [3:1].

Considerations Beyond the Discussions

When choosing a Lincoln SUV, consider your specific needs such as family size, desired features, and whether you prioritize power or space. Test driving different models and exploring warranty options can help ensure you make the best decision for your lifestyle.

2020 Lincoln Aviator Reserve

It may have some minor problems, sunroof leaking, backup camera recall, map lights sporadically coming on. Even with those, which could be expected with the first year of the model, the luxury and performance of this vehicle are insane. Ford making an Explorer ST in the Lincoln brand was a great decision. Excited to see where the Explorer/Aviator line goes from here.

I know many people don't care about this (though I wish many more would), but one of the things I love most about my Lincoln is that UAW workers built it. I don't think I could ever choose a vehicle built by folks who don't get their fair share of the products of their labor, and because I have the means to buy one made by union workers in the US, I feel obligated to support those people and their company.

The foreign firms that built cars in the US have come a long way, and some employ union workers, too, but there's nothing like knowing that I'm driving a car built by other union workers like myself.

Just my 2c; either vehicle is nice, of course.

Bought a used Aviator and had it for a couple weeks now. Love the car!

Disappointed that the rear camera washer wasn't working when it came (it was one of the reasons I bought the car), so that's something I'll have to take in and let the dealer fix, but lucky I have pretty nice bumper to bumper warranty.

Maybe the messed up the install with the backup camera recall?

The 2.0 in the Nautilus is definitely weaker than the 3.0 in the Aviator, so that's where it loses me. Not a bad engine, had it in my Fusion.

Where it grabs me is that wraparound dash. Would be awesome if they offered it in the 24 Aviator.

I would be getting the 2L Hybrid Version. I’m moving up from a VW Golf AllTrack so don’t need crazy power. I also have a 2019 F150 Ltd with the 3.5 V6

Just the idea of the captain chairs for second row is leaning to the Aviator for me.

Have the nautilus hybrid and I work in home health. I live in this car and love it. It has some quirks but the trade off is totally worth it. The worst thing is when the screens randomly reset and the pop scares the shit out of me. No problems with acceleration and I drove a Challenger v8 before. Just put it in excite mode. If I had it to do over I would have gone with the Black Label instead of the Reserve just for the extra seat function because I spend over 12 hrs a day in it sometimes. I relax and watch movies in it between visits. I even found a screen fireplace app!

The avaitor is incredibly luxurious and such a smooth ride. We have had ours for 3 weeks, we bought a used 2020 Reserve from the dealership in Toronto. I did a lot of research and was definitely spooked by all the issues on this sebreddit, but we got the 8 year/200k warranty that we thought if anything was wrong than lincoln would fix it. Anyways the “issues” i heard about were mostly electrical, which minor imo (since they are fixable).

Anyways it’s my wifes daily driver, and we needed the room with our young growing family.

Blown away with how smooth it drives, everything just screams premium quality, even opening and closing doors.

Some negatives so far

  1. The wiper fluid dispenser system is poorly designed. The fluid comes out from the wipers themselves instead of being sprayed onto the windshield. It just doesn’t spread or work. Very concerned for the winter here in Toronto, we will see. Plus side is the wiper bay is heated.

  2. The seats are over hyped. Not bad, but I think they could he way better. Just too many adjustments, I cant find a combo I am 100% happy with. Plus the passenger side does not have seat preset, so we end up just never touching it since it is impossible to get back to it anyways.

Positive’s

  1. Engine power! Over 400, this thing goes when you need it. We had a 2019 Rav4 prior for comparison

  2. Interior details are unmatched

  3. Driving has a nice weighty feeling to it. Kind of like picking up an iphone pro versus a plastic android. You can feel it is heavier but in a nice way.

  4. Carplay and overall UI. Heard some reports the ford sync system was slow, but this is not true, it is snappy.

  5. Seat massage, this is legit. Not a gimmick like I assumed.

  6. Exterior and paint, we have the dark blue and with shiny chrome it sparkles. Going to ceramic coat it this week.

Probably more I am not thinking of, we both assume this will be the best car we ever own.

Buying A Lincoln A Good Idea?

Posted by Th3claude · in r/lincolnmotorco · 1 year ago

I'm trying to narrow my list of potential vehicles to buy in the next year and I've been wondering about the Lincoln Corsair and Nautilus and I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with them and if it would be worth it? Looking at the model years of 2019-2022 and buying used. Would be the first SUV I own, coming off of a 2012 Impala.

We ordered and purchased a new 2022 Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring. We now have about 27K miles after two years of ownership. We love this car. No problems. The only issue we had was the backup camera and that was handled by a recall with a simple replacement of the camera. They also did another recall, something about emissions control, but that was done by a simple reprogramming of the engine computer and they came to the house and did that right in our garage.

We've done several long road trips, it has performed great. We love how quiet it is, how smooth the ride and such a pleasure to drive. Ours has all the features of the Grand Touring, plus the 24-way seats, Revel audio system, basically everything except the towing and 20" wheels. Sticker was about $63K.

Hey, I’m just looking for some information, cuz the official Lincoln dealer here in Panama, is offering me the Corsair Grand touring 300a 2022, it’s not totally new like 0km, it has 5000km cuz it was use by the manager, this one is plug hybrid, price 34K USD, what do you think? It would be a good deal?

The Laos offered to me the nautilus 2022 but the standard version.

Right now I have a Mazda cx5 2025 but I wanna chance it, at the beginning o was thinking to buy a full electric car but I’m not sure yet that is when these Lincoln showed up.

Thanks.

I looked at both the Corsair and Nautilus when I got my MKZ- I was really wanting a Continental, but couldn’t find one with the options package I wanted and I was on a timeline. Both of them are nice, I always liked the lines of the Corsair more- it’s one of the only SUVs I’ve ever liked the looks of.

One thing- as you look for your car- whether it’s a Corsair or Nautilus- get the upgraded seats with the active motion massage. I literally cannot express how much that improves long road trips. I can drive for hours and get out and not be sore- I’ve got older family members with mobility issues and it keeps them from getting stiff and needing help after a longish drive.

I don't have experience with the Corsair specifically, but I've been very happy with my 2019 Lincoln Continental. A lot of the base technology is similar between models, so I would encourage you to go with the Corsair based on that.

That said, I have been very underwhelmed with Lincoln's dealership network in recent years. I've spent close to a year trying to get a minor issue with my APIM module (part of the infotainment system) diagnosed and repaired, or ideally just replaced, to no avail. Appointments are months out, then are cancelled last minute shortly before I'm due to go in. And this has happened with multiple Lincoln dealerships. The service aspect used to be a lot better.

I still like their cars, but if you have an independent mechanic you trust, I'd go with that over the dealerships for service and repairs.

Both Corsair and Nautilus are good choices. I would go with a 2022 out of those years. Test drive both. I’ve got the Corsair, and while I LOVE it, I wish I would’ve gotten the Nautilus as I have a baby and the extra room would’ve been nice. But overall, the Corsair is a good car and is speedy. No issues outside of seat memory glitches, but that was fixed by a dealership at no cost. Get the extended warranty.

Considering a Lincoln Aviator or Nautilus

Posted by bkarimib · in r/lincolnmotorco · 18 days ago

Hi, We are looking at upgrading from our 2016 Ford Explorer Platinum to a new mid-size luxury suv in the $80-110k range.

As we have a business relationship with Ford through my company, and therefore I was considering a Lincoln Aviator or Nautilus.

We are a family of 4 with 2 elementary school-aged boys who play soccer. We travel quite a bit as well.

How is Lincoln's pre and post customer service experience. Luxury level of vehicle. Quality etc
Comparison to similar...
Thoughts would be appreciated, please.

I remember during my college years driving a 2005 Lincoln LS V8. I miss that car. Very fun to drive, but it became a money pit and I couldn’t afford to repair everything it needed. When I got rid of it, the A/C compressor and power steering went out.

Today I have a 2018 Navigator L Black Label and a 2023 Aviator Reserve. The Aviator is a Ford Explorer ST with a tuxedo. It’s very fun to drive.

I’ve driven Escalade ESV. The Navigator L is surprisingly fast for its size. Definitely faster than a regular Escalade. I’ve never driven a V-Series Escalade though, but they do sound nice.

In terms of vehicle comfort and service after the sale, Lincoln easily beats Cadillac in my opinion.

I’m currently in my college years with a 2013 Lincoln mks and regularly drive my dads 2011 town car.

Now I have question about the paddle shifters in your car (I assume they have them as well), in my MKS I have paddle shifters, and gears D and S, in D if I use the paddle shifter it’ll automatically return to automatic mode at the next shift, but in S it’ll put it in manual mode until I shift back into D

But I was looking at used Navigators and noticed there is no S gear, so how does the paddle shifters work in the newer Lincoln’s?

2 upvotes on reddit
lechlerjr · 6 months ago

They don’t work the same as older Lincoln’s with S. But it does work two ways from what I’ve noticed:

A quick tap of a paddle shifters manually shifts to the next gear up or down and goes back to D.

Pressing and holding + makes it “stick”. But it won’t let you downshift if the resulting RPM would exceed the engines redline. It goes back to D if you increase the RPM but fail to shift or if you haven’t used the paddles for a while. I think 10-15 seconds.

Definitely works different than older Lincoln’s with S mode. Speaking of Sport, I haven’t tried using paddle shifters in Excite mode. I wonder if the behavior changes 🤔

Linton_M · OP · 7 months ago

Commenting on own opinion to leave opinions out of the post itself, I think Lincoln is very great in the luxury segment, personally I think it exceeds Cadillac, but being a 19 year old, I just have that part of me that loves to take my MKS to the middle of nowhere for some spirited driving.

So if someone forced me to get only a brand new car and I had no budget, I’d sadly pick the Escalade V simply because it’s superior in the fun aspect while still having tons of comfort.

But I wouldn’t trade my MKS for anything else, if it got totaled today I’d just buy another MKS, possibly an ecoboost, because thats my favorite model where Lincoln was able to incorporate fun and luxury together

Lincoln - Then and Now?

Posted by ScaryNinjaReconGuy · in r/cars · 3 years ago

What was the perception of Lincoln cars back in the '80s vs. now?

They are still decent cars, but back in the '80s it almost seemed like the stand in for a BMW 7 series or something. You'd read about wealthy people (who might drive a Bentley nowadays) who chose their trusty Continental as their ride of choice back then.

In the 80s Lincoln/Cadillacs were still seen as aspirational cars, what you would buy after clocking in your 40 years at the factory as a retirement.

Also, American cars were a point of pride for the country, and recognized as a major factor in the economy. People buying imports were seen as "traitors", "Buy American" was a popular thing to see even on bumper stickers. If you haven't seen "Roger & Me" it's a good time capsule.

6 upvotes on reddit
RacingFan34810 · 3 years ago

There are just better options now. Luxury imports really weren’t a thing back then, whereas Merc, Audi, BMW, etc. Have a better lineup in the US than they used to. And those are better than a Lincoln, Cadillac, Buick. And those better options weren’t in America when Lincoln and Cadillac were still the biggest lux brands in the country.

Mercedes, Audi, and BMW were definitely around in the '80s, though they sold to a different clientele than the American luxury brands.

22 upvotes on reddit
RacingFan34810 · 3 years ago

That’s my point. They didn’t have the luxury options in America. And Lincoln & Cadillac did along with the heritage from being so popular for so long in the US. The foreign companies had the heritage but not the lineup that Americans were looking for. They’ve now gotten into that category and the American lux brands have been failing ever since

Audi was more equivalent to Saab and definitely a tier down from Mercedes and BMW back in the 80s. Hell, I’d say they were a half tier down perception-wise until at least the mid-00s, B7 generation A4 IMO.

Lincoln suffered a bit in the same way that Cadillac did in the '80s: their customer base was getting older, since they didn't have the cars young luxury buyers wanted. But unlike Cadillac, Lincoln didn't suffer from mechanical issues with their flagship sedans, nor from identity issues with their other models.

Lincoln and Cadillac had some rep for being mafia cars as well as old people cars. People with money who were younger felt like they were more sophisticated for having something European in a luxury car at some point. Also classic American luxury like Lincoln rode soft like a magic carpet or a living room on wheels. The newer rivals tightened up the suspension and gave them some more nimble performance.

There’s nothing like that nice luxury float on a long highway trip though.

I think the newer ones have some of the most luxurious and comfortable seats I've ever sat in. Admitting this will probably get my lynched but I'm really impressed with their interiors on their top trims. Too many luxury brands have moved towards harder and stiffer less "cushy" interiors that would be more appropriate on their sporty trims. I have no idea on how well they hold up long-term but initial impressions are outstanding.

My grandparents were Cadillac people although I do remember one Lincoln they had back in the early 80's and I remember my Nan really liked it but unfortunately she went deer hunting one night and that was the end of that.

I can’t speak to engine/transmissions of those years as my Navigator L is a 2012. But the common issue they have is those power running boards. Keep the hinges clean and properly lubricated and they will work fine. And for what it’s worth I love my ‘12, I prefer the V8 over the V6 in the newer ones personally but I haven’t really heard any complaints from friends of mine with the newer models.

Watch out for the 2020. If you find a clean one make sure the Transmission has had work done. I had to have my serviced for it after it dropped to what felt like neutral for a brief moment while towing a 6500lb trailer up a hill at 65 mph. I'm not sure if 18 and 19 have the issue. Traded mine in for a 24 because they fixed the issue permanently in 23.

The third row seats are flipped down and will probably never be used by us. It’s hard to get back there and not much room when you do.

Can’t speak on reliability as it’s new. We have had no issues so far.

The BlueCruise is nice. The massaging seats I use more than I thought I would. Wish they were a little stronger. The heated seats get insanely hot. Can fit 10 bags of mulch in the back. So far so good.

I LOVE my new (to me) Lincoln MKZ

Posted by Effective-Power-675 · in r/lincolnmotorco · 7 months ago

Got a black 2018 Lincoln MKZ Reserve 3.0T awd two weeks ago and I love this damn car! It only has 29k miles on it right now and has brown leather interior, such a beautiful, comfortable and fast car! Will have to post pictures of it sometime.

I got a 17 BL with the same setup and I love it. Seriously underrated cars.

Good for you. The 3.0 AWD Drivers Package is the only car I will trade my '18 SHO Performance Package for. A little bit smaller and lighter, more HO/TQ and a nicer interior!

The dealer I got mine from said it was the drivers package but it’s not. But it pretty much has every other feature. I do need a manually because mine was missing.

Congratulations! I had hoped to replace my dearly departed 2011 Fusion with an MKZ…before Ford/Lincoln discontinued it. And there are VERY few non-German luxury sedans available now.

Definitely get an MKZ. I’ve seen them a few times and never really payed attention to them until I saw this one I got and I just had to have it! I traded in my 2017 Subaru Impreza Sport for it. Best thing I’ve ever done.

I got the exact same two years ago! It was a CPO and when delivered, I heard a tick coming from the engine.

A month later, I had a brand new crate engine installed under warranty, cost me a total of $100.

This was a good era for Lincoln. All interior materials for the most part are soft touch not hard touch. Now they’ve gone back to a lot of hard touch areas in the doors etc.

best lincoln SUV

Key Considerations for Choosing the Best Lincoln SUV:

  1. Model Options: Lincoln offers several SUV models, including the Lincoln Corsair, Lincoln Nautilus, and Lincoln Aviator. Each has unique features and sizes.

  2. Performance: Look for engine options and performance specifications. The Aviator, for example, offers a powerful twin-turbo V6 engine, while the Corsair focuses on efficiency.

  3. Interior Quality: Lincoln is known for luxury interiors. Check for high-quality materials, spaciousness, and comfort features like heated and ventilated seats.

  4. Technology and Features: Consider the infotainment system, driver-assistance features, and connectivity options. Lincoln's SYNC 3 system is user-friendly and includes smartphone integration.

  5. Safety Ratings: Review safety ratings from organizations like the IIHS and NHTSA. Look for advanced safety features like adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist.

Recommendation:

  • Lincoln Aviator: If you're looking for a spacious, luxurious SUV with strong performance and advanced technology, the Aviator is a top choice. It offers a comfortable ride, a well-appointed interior, and a range of powerful engine options, including a hybrid variant.

  • Lincoln Corsair: If you prefer a smaller, more compact SUV, the Corsair is an excellent option. It combines luxury with practicality and offers a smooth ride, making it ideal for city driving.

Both models reflect Lincoln's commitment to luxury and comfort, so your choice should depend on your size preference and specific needs.
