Additional Recommendations
If you're interested in themed events or afterparties, such as those related to Shakira concerts, checking out drag brunches or LGBTQ+ friendly parties might be worthwhile [5:3]. For staying updated on live music events, following MiamiJazzBooking on Instagram and subscribing to email lists like MNT can provide valuable information

I’m moving back to Miami from several years in New Orleans and I’m wondering - what live music venues are left, and what’s new and good? There was never much but what are your favorites? I’m not including DJs in clubs as live music.
Also what emails lists are good other than MNT for live music etc?
Lagniappe, Medium Cool, North Beach Bandshell, The Corner, The Gibson Room, Jass Kitchen…and follow MiamiJazzBooking Instagram
Good recs. Add ZeyZey / Tigre Sounds, WDNA, University of Miami, Pinecrest Gardens, Fish House, Titanic, Neme, Gramps
I'm just trying to get an idea of what things are like there, musically.
I know there used to be many rappers that came out of Miami, although I'm not sure if that's still the case, but I'm hoping someone can provide a broad overview of what kinds of music scenes are prominent in Miami these days. Is this too broad?
Like the comment above there is somewhat of a Metal scene around here. I personally enjoy listening to Deathcore metal (Whitechapel, Lorna shore etc Chelsea grin). Other than that you have your regeneration music scene (Bad bunny, Anueal AA and Karol G). They’ll usually have metal concerts (or concerts of the same nature) at the Revolution live theatre in Fort Lauderdale.
As I responded to the other commenter, this just so happens to be the exact scene I was hoping for.
Pretty much everything. The dominant genres in nightlife are house and reggaeton.
I personally like jazz clubs, which unfortunately there aren’t enough of.
Follow equinox booking on insta, they advertise and host hardcore, punk, goth, and emo shows. There's more booking groups and bands you can follow from there.
Someone else commented that a day or two ago, so I’m already on that. Thank you : )
I think 1 in 4 people here are trying to make it as a DJ playing house music or edm
It wasn’t bad till everyone just started playing the same beatport top 100 tracks.
It wasn’t bad till everyone just started playing the same beatport top 100 tracks.
perfect... thank you : )
Seems impossible to find venues for good live jazz music, or any venue where the music isn’t blasting so loud that you can’t have a conversation… any recs?
The Fish House on Miller has tons of live music - lots of UM jazz graduates
The Anderson
The Corner on Tuesday's
Lagniappe
Listening room Wynwood
Ive been in Miami for some time, Im a full time musician, yet its been hard for me to find venues or places where to play live music. I know it depends on the kind of music, so I mean original stuff (which is fusion of jazz, Latin, Arabic, Turkish, Rock, Electro, Orchestral) and jazz (from fusion to standards).
I don't have a car, so that's also been a factor that makes it hard to just go and look for places. Do you have any recommendations? Know of any places?
Dude I would imagine you need a car to get around from venue to venue. Why don't you at least tell us what area you live in?
ohhh sorry I forgot that. I live in Doral. I can manage some easy transportation to downtown miami using the metrorail lines and buses, which is what I've been doing. But with gigs on other places I go with my bandmate in his car.
If you live by the Wynwood area/ mid town area, you might want to go to Roots Miami on Wednesday nights. They have a huge open mic show . A lot of young people go there, so you might want to stop by for some exposure.
I didn't know about that open mic, this is great I was looking also for those kinds of shows. Thank you
No problem man, its a nice vibe.
I have a venue space
Whats the name of the venue? May I have your contact please?
Lagniappe, Gramps, Las Rosas, The Bridge, The Corner warehouse
Does Churchill’s pub still do free playing ?
I have tried to contact them a lot of times, seems that not anymore.
Already saw Shakira in NYC with incredible seats so probably won’t go to the Miami shows unless a miracle happens. Anyone know of any Shakira afterparty or themed parties happening? Preferably LGBTQ+ friendly
I'm also curious. I went to NY concert and going to Miami concert tonight. I'm solo and would be nice to know where parties are happening and who wants to hang out
Meee im also going solo tonite. Would love a buddy. Are you a weed smoker lol
Very very lightly lol
Do you know if something is happening in the parking lot before gates open ?
Is there any opener for Shakira concert ?
I'm contemplating when to get there lol
What time did she come on? I’m going today
About 8:50
i saw there's a drag brunch happening!
I’m going to a concert Friday at the Fillmore and it’s my first time driving and going to Miami. What’s everyone’s opinion on it? How’s the drive to and how’s the Miami Beach area in general? Generally a safe area?
Miami Beach is generally a safe town. Just follow regular big city rules and you will be fine. And watch out for parking signs. The tow trucks will get your car in a heartbeat.
Multi level parking across the street for easy parking. Then you have Lincoln road to walk and eat or drink before the show.
Very safe. Parking might be difficult to find. Look for parking garages.
It’s race week so plan for extra traffic and travelers. Was just there - lots of extra construction too on Collins Avenue.
I live on Miami Beach - it’s a wonderful area, can get busy weekend nights but you’ll be safe and have a nice time!
I’m a rap/rock artist looking for small venues to hold shows at in or around Miami. Any suggestions?
Bar Nancy in Little Havana might be your jam.
I’ve never been to a music concert/show in my life, it’s not my vibe. Too many people, etc. This being a more niche band, with a more mature audience, I’m thinking of going. People who have gone to their concerts before, how was the vibe? Were the venues packed with people?
I have seen them twice now in the last 4 years at a small venue in Indiana. I am 51 years old and was also concerned as I had been to a concert since I was younger. The vibe in Indy was GREAT. A lot of older people, no drama or crazy drunk people (although a few were noticeably stoned) 😂. They are great live and had a blast both times. Was disappointed they aren't coming back to Indy this year.
Definitely go. I highly doubt you would be disappointed. It was a very chill crowd.
I can’t recommend you go enough. These guys put on one hell of a show. Honestly, one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen in my life and I’ve seen them four or five times now.
Absolutely go. They are fantastic.
Simply the best. Everything!
I’ve seen them 3 times and all shows have been super chill. This band does not disappoint and the crowd matches the music.

yes marriott coconut grove is great, try a fun restaurant / experience like something in little havana that has live music and indoors (cafe la trova?)
Stay at the courtyard in coconut grove. Walk across the street to Montys for dinner on the bay. Walk a few more blocks to shopping, there is also a books and books. This is the real Miami, enjoy!
I second this - centrally located Marriott for the Grove. You can Pop over to Glass & Vine for adult beverages in a park setting.
Glass & vine blows
Seconding the coconut grove marriot
Get a water view room not expensive at all
Great sunrises . The restaurant/bar in the lobby is actually insanely strangely good . If you want to go out there’s
Plenty to walk around and do or see on the water , Monty’s is good, Bayshore club , Jaguar, Ariette , mister o1 for some interesting pizza , glass and vine ,
Yes to all of those suggestions. And there's Botanico in Center Grove for those who enjoy gin beverages.
Love Botánico. Great happy hour for food and drinks. 🍸
They aren’t in Mayfair but by warby Parker on Main Hwy. it was there last week 🍷
Off the top of my head— Hornets play the Heat tonight at the Kaseya center. You could go there and check out bayside after. Might be a little dead on a Monday night, but it's something.
You could also try just driving around the beach, even though the weather is kindof nasty rn.
Hard Rock Casino might be a fun place to kill a few hours, though it might be out of your way.
If you wanna be low key, check out Books & Books in Coral Gables, they might have an author speaking.
Heat tix in upper level going for a buck per seat tonight
Hookers & Blow
It’s next to Panther Coffee
