What's the manga originally called?
>Rex is a half man half dog. He was created when a drunk old man forced himself on a stray female dog in the street. Because of his father, Rex has to live his life as a freak rejected by society. So one day... he’s gonna find that man, and r*pe HIM.
Bitch hold up
Pure, unfiltered, gold
Is that an OK word to use in Japan? Or is the title as weird to them as it is to us
I remember finding Dog n**** on mangadex, title made me laugh so I read it.
Can I get a link pls I want to read it now
The UI of mangadex looks confusing cause they’re redesigned the website cause’ of a DDos attack a few months back, but it should be good.
It’s legitimately a decent read and funny
The original title of the manga is even better
Dog [REDACTED]
I love all the white people here too scared to say the title
Btw y’all should read dog nigga
So.... Im 21 years old watching animes since I was 12 started with Hunter x Hunter followed by Naruto,Full metal,Death Note,Dbz,Attack on Titan these are the biggest right? And I never had courage to start One piece the number of episodes just pushed me away but I always wanted it so much and always heard of it in fandom like "the best ever","better than Naruto and Dbz" "best story ever" but never really started it.
As someone who has watch best animes (yet),best tv shows (american, european, spanish, turkish),many many movies I never watched only one big, famous, long name "One piece",and now its time to start it I just cant wait to see what everyone calls "peak""best ever""best worldbuilding in anime""best world" because I watched Lotr,Got,Star Wars,Aot,Dark itd...
Can One piece beat this fictions I mentioned?
Am I in for a true joruney and adventure of a lifetime like everyone says so,is it really peak, peak fiction? The best of big 3?
Am I watching really best anime off all time?
Best series is subjective. Don't take takes like it seriously. Regardless welcome to the crew
Literally just started One Pace this week - already all the Arlong Ark. 10/10 so far. Each of the crew mate’s introductions have been amazing so far. Was really moved by both Usopp’s and Sanji’s origin stories.
You should read the manga, It Is even better than One Pace
One Piece is among the best pieces of media, period. Hundreds of years from now, it will still be relevant. Enjoy.
That’s cause it will still be going on. Oda will pass it down to his children and their children
My biggest fear. Plz oda finish this before you go six feet under
I second this.
A lot of purists will give you flak for doing One Pace instead, but keeping it closer to the manga pacing only benefits the show.
I've brought several newcomers on board using One Pace and they thanked me for it later on -- it's one of the best ways to experience it.
Personally like just going the regular anime route, with the exception of certain arcs. Like, skip the warship island filler arc, but watch Reverse Mountain paced purely to not have that awkward transition of the filler characters show up in the canon parts. Watch LRLL paced because it's an excellent arc even (or especially) if it's more on the comedic side, but the added filler in the Toei adaption make the whole thing a bloated slog. Even Enies Lobby I'd say watch it paced just so you don't have those "Straw Hat backstory" filler episodes that do have canon material at the beginning and ending of the episodes.
Otherwise, pre-timeskip the slow pacing isn't much of an issue until Thriller Bark and beyond, and even then it's not as bad as post-TS because the manga arcs themselves were still faster paced than they are today.
Any particular anime-only scenes and episodes worth looking up after watching One Pace? I've been told there's some great anime-canon character-building scenes you miss out on.
You just started the adventure of your lifetime. Enjoy every second of it! 😃
Welcome, WE ARE!!!
How far caught up is it though?
I just finished Volume 27, and I can officially say that Claymore has become my favorite manga and possibly my favorite piece of fiction.
There's not a single bad chapter, and from the first to the last the quality only increases which is something I haven't seen in my entire life.
Every character is as deep as an ocean, they feel so genuine, to the point where someone died or was in danger my heart skipped a beat.
The ending is possibly one of the best out there, it's not only beautiful but also emotionally heavy and truly feels complete.
Thank you so much Norihiro, your story and art has made me laugh, cry, fear and smile like no other. I feel as I'm a better person from before I started this series.
It's a great series with a fantastic end. But the overall ending just feels meh at times. The final arc/s i just felt lost so many times. With so many characters introduced huge plot points mentioned and thrown away. The middle really can be messy.
But despite my complaints the actual final fight 10/10. Leigt amazing. I love the series but there are definitely problems with it at differnt points in time.
I felt the exact same way when I finished it like a month ago, it’s truly a masterpiece.
Finished 2 months ago. Now I have that "happy emptiness" for such an amazing journey, but feeling that I need to find another manga like Claymore...
So slept on
Gantz #1, Claymore #2 🤘. Both anime had the same fate 😭
yo I enjoyed gantz so much but that ending is so nah
Definitely 2 of the best manga I’ve seen. When I was reading them, Uber Blatt was also one of my favorites. I don’t know what became of it since, I can only hope it ended up as well as they did
im so glad the manga didnt fuck up in the end like so many before
Like akame ga kill.
That’s one of the many reasons it’s the best
Reading the ending feels like this panel
It's so so true, it felt like closure, finally being ready to live
Dorohedoro
The only manga that I liked from the very beginning to the very end. Outstanding characters since I never had the feeling Caiman and Nikaido are the “good guys” and the En family are the “bad guys”. Had good laughs, interesting plot twists and cool fights! I was only sad about >!Noi and Shin not ending up as a couple!< but to everyone each his own
Yeah same from start to finish one hell of a unique ride with the most weird and hilarious situations xD. Can't wait to reread again. There is so much wicked art panels, nice and gruesome. And the humor was spot on.
Heavily underrated, the anime did NOT do it justice
Agreee although I also adoooore the anime 🤩. The manga is forever my number one.
My second. I love that people are finally giving it the Death Note treatment. I mean shit, even about a year ago it was rarely talked about and you could find so many volumes floating around. Now a days its insanely bought up. Me and my wife some how collected all the singles in G4 condition before we finished collecting the PE
Berserk
I've only read a few of the 0 chapters but the rest of the story looks really promising.
I’m reading Monster right now and it’s great!
Samurai manga it’s really good
Seen the trailer for it, looks really good (the little girl looks so god damn adorable). I want to start getting the manga but I can't find volume 1 anywhere
lol I’ve been waiting for the anime after i saw the trailer definitely buying the manga
i’ve always thought about if i were limited to a single shelf and had to keep only my absolute favorites—what would i pick?
i thought this idea was interesting, and it’d be cool to hear what series others would keep too.
i had some obvious series in mind, but when i actually tried putting it together just for fun, it was surprisingly challenging.
a quick run-through of the reasons why i’d pick what i picked:
a big factor for me was whether the series had a good anime adaptation. i always prefer manga over anime and generally enjoy reading more than watching, but if a series has a really good anime, i’d be less strict about keeping the manga since i could still experience it through the anime. examples of that would be naruto and aot.
berserk: this is my favorite story ever told—favorite manga and honestly favorite piece of media overall. i love the series so much that even if i were limited to one shelf, i’d still want both editions. i try to reread it yearly, so this is 100% a must-keep.
gantz: in my top 5 and is just such a blast to read. i can see myself rereading it a lot over the years, and oku is one of my favorite mangaka.
tokyo ghoul: my first manga back in 2018, and even after rereads, i still think it’s amazing. it was my first favorite until i read berserk, but it’s still a 10/10 for me.
shuzo oshimi: oshimi is my favorite mangaka. i love his writing, his artwork, and most of what i’ve read by him. i own everything released in english, but i’d only keep my top 3 works by him, with blood on the tracks being in my top 10 manga of all time in general.
real: very straightforward, one of my all-time favorites and easily in my top 10. there’s so much value in this story, and inoue’s artwork is on another level. personally, i actually prefer real over vagabond, so that’s why i chose it instead.
Why keep 2 berserk sets? lol.
i can definitely see it being a bit illogical but i just love berserk a lot. even now i want more berserk stuff and always do lol.
the reasons i have both in the first place is for that but also the deluxe editions last longer and are great for rereads whilst the singles i can display better and look better on the shelf.
overall i just like the series so much i would keep both even if i was limited.
I collect mangas based on videogames
Are you familiar at all with Suikoden? There was a Suikoden III manga that I thought was an amazing adaptation!
I know it but I've never read it.
w! that’s really cool! i don’t think ive seen someone purely just collect video game based manga, w collection! 👏
Is happiness good? Does the ending feel good?
I bought recently 5 volumes for 10 euro. But i am still missing 1-3 and 6-7 so i did not start reading it.
it’s overall pretty good, i have it rated a 7.5/10 for reference. the artwork, especially scenery is some of oshimi’s best. if you like vampire stuff or tokyo ghoul it’s definitely worth picking up the rest or reading online beforehand. its been awhile since ive read it and definitely due for a reread but i think its a great starter oshimi manga or if you like oshimi its gonna be great for you then.
for the ending without any spoilers, its overall a good ending but does fall short a little, more of a situation where i wanted more meat on the bone kinda thing.
Gantz and Btooom are 2 of my favorites! Both would make the cut. You should check out Claymore.
Awesome collection 🤘🏻
funny enough i’m planning on picking up and trying claymore next!
w! love the flowers of evil singles
would definitely hunt them down if i had a spot for them in my oshimi section lol
I know a lot of y’all dislike the recent turns of one piece, so I was wondering, which (finished) manga satisfied all your expectations to the point where you’d say “this is the best manga I’ve read in years”?
Fullmetal Alchemist was pretty damned good. And Trigun.
Fullmetal Alchemist is quite high up there in the best Shonen manga of all time even if the fanbase is infamous for review bombing.
Trigun is sooooo good!
none are perfect but i like yu yu the most out of completed manga
Unfortunately in last two arc togashi looks like rushed and lazy ive seen alot of art like bit a mess. YYH one of my fav tho
Probably the best Jojo part that I have read. Araki taking time off after Stone Ocean and resetting the entire Jojo verse, starting from a very unique part was what made it a masterpiece.
ending was complete dogshit I’ll admit but i still love it. togashi also had health problems so it wasn’t his fault
OG TG especially at the beginning is so special man
You can tell Ishida really loves reading, the way Kaneki describes the taste of foods after becoming ghoul is just.... So well done
No manga is perfect that’s just an objective truth . Subjectively from my take it’s probably gonna be something like berserk or Tokyo ghoul .
Manga yes, anime is a never watch
Hunter X Hunter is peak for me.
Edit: Didn't see It said "finished manga" In that case It's Gantz, If I could delete the memory of reading it yearly I would 100%
I haven't read the manga but the Adapted parts are great. Is the manga counterpart of the anime as good as well? I heard the art isn't as good in manga? Also I did read Hisoka vs Chrollo which was fucking PEAK.
Mine are
1.Hajime no İppo 2.Kingdom 3.Berserk or Vagabond aaaahh i can't select
Love both dorohedoro and berserk. This comment might be the final thing to push me to finally read slam dunk
Slam Dunk rules. once you pass volume 8 it's all gravy
Reading Dorohedoro rn, hella good
My guy you gotta read Witch Hat as well. Some of the best art and usage of panels in manga. Up there with Akira.
I just finished gantz last night and damn what a journey. Chad Kurono
And I love Muscle Rider
I like Gantz, but top 3? I feel like the way it ended was mediocre at best, and while the development of Kei was good it didn't hit as hard for me as Guts, Frieren, or even Yatora (blue period).
Not trying to be an asshole, just curious why you liked Gantz so much.
i just thought gantz was a really fun ride all the way through and i ended up caring a lot about the characters (sakata was my favorite)
the ending was fine to me i didn’t dislike it tbh.
The development of Kurono is at the same level, wdym. Btw, Gantz at top 3 is totally fine.
Here is the full list to the top 100. Do you agree or disagree with these positions and entries?
https://www.comicbookcanon.com/top-100-manga/the-top-100-manga-ranked
As much as I love One Piece, I'm not sure if series that are still in progress should count.
By which I mean that FMA's high position is well-earned.
I mean, One Piece is REALLY good, but I’m not sure if it’s Greatest Of All Time good
I would say One Piece kinda deserves that place at the moment since its actively going towards the end, granted at a snails pace, but HxH shouldn't be near top 10 since the release schedule is freaking terrible.
FMA has both the perfect ending twice for both series.
This is American comic equivalent of a top 10 list with only superhero stuff.
This is the equivalent of top 10 movies of all time and they're all Disney.
I don't even think I'd put Naruto in the top 10 battle shonen manga of all time.
What's funny is that the full top 100 is considerably broader. Still fairly bog-standard and with some weird weird inclusions (I'm a Gantz defender, but #75 manga of all time?), but something that at least can work as a canon of sorts. Cutting it off at 10 gives basically the worst impression possible lol.
I don't think it being only top 10 makes it worse. It's exactly as bad as it is. Putting Dragon Ball and Naruto on the same tier as a work like Berserk. I know lots of people like their shonen slop, but to equate them in quality would be akin to saying, I dunno, that a DB or Naruto movie is on the same level as Spirited Away.
Berserk is really popular, I remember a Dark Horse rep saying it routinely outsold anything else their comic book division published
Even then, Berserk is pretty damn popular, just with people who make other things that managed to get more popular. It's a common appearance on "most influential manga" lists for a reason.
Slam Dunk's awesome
The list is valid because it has things I like
Manga is also thoroughly dominated by Shonen/Seinen manga, which is not a genre, but a market. The issue here is that even amongst that market, this top 10 is a very narrow, specific slice of genre within shonen/seinen manga.
A top 10 for American comics would actually be a little more diverse in tone/genre if it stuck only to cape comics, since the big 2 actually have a lot of diversity there despite what people like to make it seem like.
however
It would still be unreasonable because there are many American comics that are/were just as big culturally and financially as specific superhero comic runs. The Walking Dead, Saga, Invincible, Spawn, Maus, Hellboy, TMNT, Umbrella Academy, Calvin and Hobbes, V for Vendetta, Bone, The Incal, Sandman (which isn't technically part of the DC comics universe) , the list goes on and on and on.
The story is really well-thought. I can't stress it enough: it's clear that Tsukuda had everything planned from the start instead of making shit up as he goes and breaking a lot of established concepts from the earlier days or even taking a dump on the supposed final boss to introduce a villain nobody ever asked. It amazes me how complex the story is. Every action has a consequence: for example: if you do a crime like kidnapping someone, you go to jail instead of getting away with it and even having a friendly talk with the person you kidnapped. Also, I may add that he never forgets the storylines he set up or the cast he carefully developed in more than 300 chapters. What other shonen could even say that?
I also love how the characterization remains consistent throughout the series. In SnS, it would never happen something like a character that had a huge arc to develop their personality and become more open to the other to suddenly forget all that they learned. Or a character that was the main roadblock to the hero a few chapters ago to be jobbed in less than a chapter. Or a character that starts as weak, has an entire soryarc of becoming more confident and stronger and keeps losing every fucking match we see. Or two characters that were hyped to be the strongest of the main guy's generation to stop appearing. It would be cheap to make a character act in way he/she shouldn't because the plot said so, or to create unnecessary problems.
Speaking of the characters, I love how all the characters we know and love remain important. This comes back to what I've said earlier about never letting a plotline go to waste. And they all receive consistent development - both in characterization and cooking skills. I love that part of the show. When a character has a so-called power up, it never looks like the writer is pulling it from his ass. And I also enjoy how the character never forgets said power up, or even his realization about what it makes a good chef.
What about the power levels? I like that even though it's a silly fanservice manga, Tsukuda never runs out of ideas and starting making shit up like magic knives and completely unrealistic cooking techniques that we are supposed to take seriously. You could literally follow every step of the manga and make every dish presented in the series. Hunter x Hunter power system could take a lesson or two with Shokugeki no Soma.
It's also impressive how you can never predict who is going to win a match by, say, the order of who is presenting the dish or just because the stakes are too high for the protagonist to lose. It keeps you always guessing and not bored.
And the villains? Ok, in the start they were just okay, but as the series went on, they got better and better, until we got everyone's favorite character - Asahi. I love how he shook up the structures of the manga in a totally not shitty way. I've never seen someone more popular in a fanbase than this guy. And tell me about complex feelings. I'm really torned upon this romantic triangle with Soma and Erina and I'm not hoping his character dies an ugly death. His objectives are so well-thought and I really care about him and didn't wish he never appeared in the manga. I also really love how he was consistently foreshadowed throughout the entire manga and the people who were paying attention knew that he was always the final boss instead of Joichiro Saiba, Akira or Erina. I hate when a character is introduced just because the author doesn't want something to happen and needs a roadblock for it like, say, two characters that had an amazing development together with one character finally recognizing the other's ability as a peer and how there was nothing stopping them to starting date like most part of the fanbase wanted. I hate when this happens. If you are a young writer, you should learn with this manga.
And I didn't even talked about the comedy. I love how funny the manga is lately. I laugh so much people think I'm crazy. But I'm not crazy. I'm just reading the best, funniest and most well-thought manga of all time, Shokugeki no Soma!
Happy April Fools' Day to y'all.
If it wasn’t April fools, you would have been executed.
tl;dr: April Fools
I almost entered in a "why sns is bad" 4 hours essay. Good one. Happy April fool day.

The full list of 100 most critically acclaimed manga is linked above
This shows how skewed the western manga community is towards shonen manga. 1½ of the series are seinen in the top 10, and none are Shojo/Josei.
Looking at the rest of the list, Bleach and Naruto being above Vinland Saga, 20th Century Boys and Oyasumi Punpun, is shocking, and I love both of those series. It's clearly more of a popularity contest.
Maybe this is a controversial opinion here considering it's a subreddit primarily about: Popular, Shueisha, Shonen manga, but the quality rankings seem unfairly skewed towards all three of those demographics.
> It's clearly more of a popularity contest
All the counterpoints you offered are super popular tho
Yeah, that's why they're all in the top 50. If they weren't as popular, they wouldn't be in the top 100, and if they were shonen or published by Shueisha, they would most likely be higher.
There's not much point in me mentioning obscure manga because then nobody has any idea what I'm talking about, and there's no yard stick to compare to. (And it's not like I've read anything particularly obscure anyways).
No Urasawa in the top 10 was really surprising to me, but yeah this has some clear sample bias
They are skewerd to that as those types of manga are most easily accessible for Westerners. Of course they are going to be more loved, when the others don't get translated and promoted as much.
Plus this list is a small group of "critics". All of them read the same 5 manga and don't bother looking at the wider industry and what could be out their that they are missing. They don't read Japanese stuff, they don't look to see what interesting stuff exists outside of the overhyped stuff that they already know of.
That is not to say that those series are bad or not deserving of their praise, but more so that those "critics" don't actually try to find what is best and overlook the majority of the industry for that small group of highly praised series that they already know.
What does critically acclaimed mean ?
In this case it means the manga chosen by 126 critics in their individual lists as the greatest manga of all time. The top 10 and the top 100 list linked above is an amalgamation of those 126 lists.
Please don't share dogshit content like this. It's clickbait garbage that serves no actual purpose beyond circlejerking
Yeah, even a personal list in the style of "My 10 favorite manga" is better than this.
The sources for this list are definitly not the basis for a "critically acclaimed" list. Besides Chat GPT beeing a source, a lot of these list are not about "Top X Manga" but are only about a specific genre like "Top shounen manga", "Top historic manga", "Top beginner manga" or my favorite manga genre: "Top Manhua". So besides different kind of media being in this manga list, there isnt even the possibility for certain manga to appear on certain sources even if the original list is about manga... https://www.comicbookcanon.com/top-100-manga/sources
With this method, Kagurabachi would be in the top 30 on a new list lol.
This feels like a manga popularity list imo
