What Redditors are Saying

Best Mobile MMORPGs

TL;DR

  • Albion Online: Offers a similar experience on mobile as PC, with PvP elements [3:2].
  • Pokemmo: Highly recommended for its engaging gameplay [4:1].
  • Black Desert Mobile: Popular and visually appealing [5:1].
  • Toram Online: Known for its customization and community [5:3].

Popular Titles

Several popular mobile MMORPGs have been highlighted across discussions. Albion Online is frequently mentioned for providing a consistent experience across both mobile and PC platforms, though it has a competitive PvP system [3:2], [4:9]. Black Desert Mobile is another well-known title praised for its graphics and gameplay [5:1].

Community and Gameplay

Ragnarok Mobile is noted for its strong community and extensive content, offering nostalgia for long-time fans of the series. However, it does have a pay-to-win aspect for hardcore players [5:2]. Toram Online is appreciated for its customization options and vibrant community [5:3], making it a favorite among mobile gamers.

Unique Features

Pokemmo stands out for its unique blend of Pokémon gameplay in an MMO format. It has received praise for being engaging over extended periods, unlike many other mobile MMOs [4:1], [4:5]. EVE Echoes offers a simplified version of EVE Online, maintaining the cutthroat nature of its PC counterpart while being more accessible [5:6].

Auto-play and Accessibility

For those who prefer games without auto-play, Warhammer: Odyssey is recommended for its manual gameplay style [5:5]. However, opinions on its engagement and graphics vary [5:8]. Sprite Fantasia provides a newer option with less frequent interruptions during auto-play [5:4].

These recommendations offer a diverse range of experiences catering to different preferences in gameplay, community involvement, and accessibility. Whether you're looking for intense PvP action or a casual community-driven experience, there's likely a mobile MMORPG that fits your needs.

ORIGINAL POST

Hey guys. I know mobile gaming probably isn’t the most popular topic here, but I’m currently quarantined with my girlfriend away from home and so I don’t have access to my PC. Thus, I’ve been doing a fair bit of mobile gaming lately (I’m using iOS on an iPhone X).

I’m mostly looking for either open world adventure RPGs, action RPGs, or hardcore isometric RPGs. MMOs are also welcome. I prefer games with tons of customization and character development, especially those where you can really customize your class and play style with tons of freedom. What are your personal favorites? Any thoughts/opinions/discussion is more than welcome and appreciated.

PS - some of my current favorites are Exiled Kingdoms, Anima ARPG, Adventure Quest 3D, and Arcane Quest Legends. Would love to find games similar to any of those.

How is the mobile port?

Full disclosure- I played through them on my tablet. But I found them to be really easy to navigate! I imagine on a phone, a stylus would be necessary

The quality of the port overall is exceptional, but there ARE issues with using a touch interface instead of kb/m. BG1 works well enough, but generally speaking the more complex the combat encounter, the more difficult the interface is going to be--as it's difficult to juggle frequent pausing and ability usage. This mostly becomes a problem with BG2 and it's much higher-level play.

In general I'd say PSTEE is the best IE game to play on mobile due to the simplicity of its combat encounters.

Are there any mobile RPGs that you'd recommend?

Posted by AdrianR154 · in r/rpg_gamers · 5 years ago

For reference my favorite RPG series is Dragon Age, followed by Fallout I guess. Warframe is badass as well. I know there obviously aren't any Triple A RPGs on mobile but if there's something you enjoy on there you should share it.

Kotor is on mobile and runs rather well.

The Infinity Engine games (BG 1+2, IWD, PST) are on there as well I believe, but while they run on phones, they're probably better suited for tablets.

Can't believe I didn't think to mention the BG games! You're right about phone vs tablet though, I've played BG1 & 2, as well as KOTOR, on both a 7 and 10 inch tablet, and briefly tried BG1 on my phone. The 7" tablet felt like the absolute minimum I'd want to play at, the 10" is unsurprisingly way more comfortable to play on, and my phone was just far too fiddly

I can second this. The gatcha element is only for more heroes, but its expensive to buy them with money. You get a lot ot the currency in game to buy them. Been playing for months and haven't spent any money.

I see many people on Reddit showing off Open Morrowind on their phones. Unfortunately I wouldn't have the first clue of how to get it running. Then there is the Enhanced editions of Baldur's Gate 1 & 2.

What’s your favorite mobile mmo?

Posted by Thenelwave · in r/iosgaming · 1 year ago

Do you prefer mobile MMO’s over a full fledged PC Mmo?

I have a gaming PC but I also have an iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Both awesome for gaming. Sometimes I find myself wanting to play games on my iPhone over my high end PC just for the flexibility. Curious of who else also owns a high end pc but still chooses to game in their phone.

You’re not going to find many worthwhile MMOs on mobile, unfortunately.

RuneScape & Albion are the two I can think of that are reputable and not auto/P2W. They have similar game philosophies (pretty sure RS inspired Albion).

I played a little bit of Toram and it’s reminiscent of old school MMOs, still not my favorite.

Tarisland is coming out in the next year or so. It’s a Chinese MMO that’s a WoW clone (or so I’ve read). I’ve been watching it and cautiously optimistic for its release.

Is it mostly nostalgia at this point? I tried it for the first time on mobile and it really doesn't seem that great. Tap to move controls, tiny interface, I can't see what the heck is going on on the map with how crowded it all is.

And then I looked up what kind of features to expect, and you can't form parties with others? And high end PvP involves switching gear out rapidly and is essentially impossible on a mobile phone?

It seems like the mobile version is just to grind tree cutting or something while you're away from your desktop, and it isn't meant to be played fully mobile. Maybe I'm missing something though.

I find myself playing more of Diablo Immortal for the social and multiplayer even if I like Path of Exile much much more. Undecember is also neat, feels more like PoE, but I find the difficulty scaling weird even if it really has so much potential.

Played Adventure Quest 3D for a bit, is nice. But I don't have time for it right now. Could really use a UI upgrade this one to make things tidy.

I also play Torn City via Torn PDA, but torn on a web browser is also as convenient.

I'm also currently treating online-go.com as an MMO rofl vis Surround app if via an app. I love it for the pvp strat ala war game:Civ vibes it gives me.

I also played the other mmos eg Runescape, Albion, Eve Echoes, Aethric, Orna, etc but they were just too time consuming for me for the joy they give me.

Dofus/Wakfu seem nice but the touch versions are truly different from the desktop ones. Not enough time for me too.

FarmRPG and Cybercode Online also are neat.

Not mmos per se but online games, but I much prefer playing Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail on mobile too. I am just on pause on them but I don't feel like I'm losing out much on pausing on them since they're pretty mucu single player focused.

I haven’t played Diablo Immortal for a pretty minute, and even then I haven’t played it a ton, but allegedly semi-recently it got a ton better.

I think if you go into it knowing it’s pay to win and don’t try to be the best on the server, but just the best you can be as F2P you’ll have fun.

Aside from PvP, that’s 100% P2W

My issue with this game is that it doesnt play like an MMO. I play it and I end up playing solo 99.9% of the time. My brother and I actively try to do things together but the exp gain or item drops are better off solo every time (like Slayer or Dungeoneering). I end up just cutting trees for hours at a time or fishing alone at my fishing spot forever. Bosses aren't that exciting to do as a group thing either as it feels very underwhelming.

I can’t recommend this game enough. I’ve spent years trying different mobile MMOs and I always get bored within a week or so. This is the first mobile mmo that I’ve consistently played for months and I see no end in sight.

The biggest hurdle is trying to get friends to play because of the initial setup (which is not even hard btw).

Ragnarok Mobile. It has a good community, years and years of content to do and even the grind is fairly mild for the casual player. The nostalgia deep dive is amazing in it.

If you are hardcore player, the game has a P2W brick-wall for dps players and the grind for the optimised equipment is brutal.

EVE Echoes, it's a simpler, smaller version of EVE Online, but it also is as cutthroat as it's bigger brother. Also, for some reason, corps aren't as hardcore as in their PC counterpart, so in most cases nobody is gonna ask you to set an alarm at 4 am to fleet up and bash some random structure on enemy territory.

A “Best Mobile Games of 2025” system giveaway: get a mobile-compatible Xbox Bluetooth Controller

Posted by NimbleThor · in r/minireview · 28 days ago

Since I recently launched a system that lists and ranks the highest-rated games covered each year on MiniReview, I figured it was time to celebrate! :)

Check it out: Best Mobile Games of (year)

The page continuously updates weekly and ranks the games with gold / silver / bronze stars (a bit like in a tier list). And you can keep scrolling to find the best games of earlier years too.

I hope it can become a handy page to share when your friends ask “Did any good mobile games release this year?”. Or when you just need to quickly catch up.

The prize?

To mark the launch, 1 random lucky winner will get a brand new mobile-compatible Xbox controller (ordered via Amazon).

It’s my personal favorite to use with a phone, and I figured it’d be the obvious gift since many of the best mobile games now support external controllers (here’s 500+ of them).

HOW DO I WIN?

  • Just leave a comment below with your favorite mobile games. That’s it :) Simple and straightforward.

The event runs until September 29th at 10am GMT+1, and the winner will be picked at random from the comments in this thread + the one over on r/AndroidGaming + r/iosgaming and then contacted via a Reddit private message (please make sure to have DMs enabled or you won’t be able to win!).

So, what else has been added lately?

  • A MiniReview Feed that shows everything happening, including new reviews, games, user ratings, collections, upcoming game launches, and more.
  • You can now follow collections or Top Games posts to be notified (via app or email) when they’re updated. Same for games you’ve requested a review of.
  • Spanish + Portuguese localization (thanks to everyone who helped! <3)
  • A new Universal Search bar + filter search bar
  • Future: The ability to reply to user ratings + be notified of replies

Thanks for the fantastic support and feedback over the years. It’s such a big motivation for me. New Friday post with recommendations coming again this week, of course - as always <3

MO.CO and the MMORPG market

Posted by cofcofcoffee · in r/joinmoco · 4 months ago

Supercell, a company renowned for its unparalleled success in the mobile gaming market, is now setting its sights on a new frontier: MMORPGs. This move positions them squarely against established contenders like Albion Online and Diablo Immortal. A significant challenge facing the MMORPG market, particularly on mobile, is the dwindling player time for extensive grinding.

Albion Online, primarily a PC game, is structured for players who can dedicate substantial time to gameplay. Diablo Immortal, conversely, targeted casual players but became notorious for one of the most egregious paywalls ever implemented. Interestingly, the core design of "MO.CO" appears to be an effort to satisfy players from both these colossal titles.

MO.CO seems to adopt a hybrid approach, integrating several key features:

  1. No Paywall Method: Emulating Albion Online's accessibility, MO.CO aims to avoid restrictive pay-to-win mechanics.
  2. Group Farming Gameplay: Similar to Diablo Immortal, the game emphasizes group farming of hordes, fostering an open-world MMORPG sensation.
  3. Classless System: Adopting Albion Online's flexible classless system allows players greater freedom in character development.
  4. Adapted MMO Fundamentals: MO.CO is attempting to integrate various fundamental MMORPG elements, such as a housing system and open social spaces, adapting them for a mobile experience.
  5. Cosmetic Skin System: A collectible, non-essential, and likely expensive skin system, akin to Diablo Immortal (and somewhat Albion Online).

Given these observations, I am keenly interested to see Supercell's strategy unfold in this new market. I welcome further contributions and discussion on this intriguing development.

For me it's Skullgirls. It's a fighting game with charismatic characters, it's not pay to win despite being a gacha (I've played the game for 1 and a half years and I can do all the game's content as a f2p player) and the community, despite being small, helps each other. Unfortunately, it is a game with a small team of developers, which does not make much profit from the game and consequently hardly has any updates with new mechanics/playable character. Other than that, it's a game that has a place in my heart.

DYSMANTLE - by far the best single player game on mobile I've played. There's an upfront purchase cost but after that the game is free from any costs or ads. There are a couple of expansions you can buy but are not necessary.

I have so many hours in this game. It's easy to put down for a few days and come back to again with no issues. The main quest is huge and there's an open world, do what you want aspect to it as well that will keep you occupied forever if you want that.

The difficulty ramps up at an achievable pace. You have choices in terms of weapon and tool upgrades, nearly all of which have a direct impact on the gameplay but they won't stop you from proceeding.

Kingdom Rush -series is great! Tower defence with nice art style, light story and or course great gameplay. Highly recommended.

Two options

-Games with a good story

-Games that aren't repetitive

Mindustry is a good one for the latter, whereas the Grim series(Quest, Tides, Omens) are for the prior. Seedship is one that I'd consider a balance between the two.

If you like puzzles then slitherlink is one of my favorites! It's kinda got minesweeper vibes but different if that makes any sense.

best mobile MMORPG

Key Considerations for Choosing the Best Mobile MMORPG:

  1. Gameplay Mechanics: Look for games that offer engaging combat systems, character customization, and a variety of quests. Real-time combat and PvP options can enhance the experience.

  2. Graphics and Art Style: High-quality graphics and an appealing art style can significantly enhance immersion. Consider whether you prefer realistic graphics or a more stylized approach.

  3. Community and Social Features: A strong player community can enhance your experience. Look for games with guilds, chat systems, and cooperative gameplay options.

  4. Content Updates: Choose games that receive regular updates and expansions to keep the gameplay fresh and engaging over time.

  5. Monetization Model: Be aware of the game's monetization strategy. Some games are free-to-play with in-app purchases, while others may require a one-time purchase or subscription.

Top Recommendations:

  • Genshin Impact: Offers an expansive open world, stunning graphics, and a gacha system for character acquisition. It combines action RPG elements with MMORPG features and has a strong community.

  • Black Desert Mobile: Known for its beautiful graphics and deep character customization. It features a complex combat system and a variety of activities, including trading and crafting.

  • Lineage 2: Revolution: A classic MMORPG experience with large-scale PvP battles and a rich lore. It has impressive graphics and offers a variety of character classes.

  • Albion Online: A sandbox MMORPG that emphasizes player-driven economy and open-world PvP. It’s great for players who enjoy crafting and trading.

Recommendation: If you’re looking for a visually stunning game with a rich storyline and a mix of single-player and multiplayer elements, Genshin Impact is highly recommended. However, if you prefer a more traditional MMORPG experience with deep mechanics, Black Desert Mobile or Lineage 2: Revolution would be excellent choices.
