What Redditors are Saying

Best Places to Sell Pokémon Cards Online

TL;DR

  • eBay and TCGPlayer are top choices for selling Pokémon cards.
  • Reddit communities like r/pkmtcgtrades can be useful for direct sales and trades.

eBay

eBay is frequently mentioned as a reliable platform for selling Pokémon cards. It offers the advantage of high traffic and allows sellers to list their cards with detailed descriptions and images [1:1][4:2]. Sellers can benefit from eBay's tracked shipping option for trading cards, which is cost-effective [1:5]. Additionally, filtering by sold items helps sellers understand current market prices [4:2].

TCGPlayer

TCGPlayer is another popular choice, especially for those looking to sell trading cards specifically [1:6][2:1]. It caters to card collectors and enthusiasts, offering a specialized marketplace where you might find buyers willing to pay competitive prices for rare or valuable cards.

Reddit Communities

Reddit communities such as r/pkmtcgtrades provide platforms for direct sales and trades among collectors [3:3][4:1]. This can be an effective way to reach potential buyers who are specifically interested in Pokémon cards and may offer better deals than traditional marketplaces.

PriceCharting

For those unsure about the value of their collection, PriceCharting.com is recommended for tracking card values [1:2]. This tool can help sellers price their cards accurately before listing them on any platform, ensuring they don't get low-balled.

Local Options

While online platforms are generally preferred, local options like Kijiji have been used successfully by some sellers [5:2]. However, these may not offer the same reach or pricing advantages as dedicated online marketplaces.

Considerations Beyond the Discussions

When selling Pokémon cards, it's important to research each card's value thoroughly, especially if they're First Edition, Holographic, or Promo cards [5:6]. Understanding the grading process can also enhance the sale value of your cards. Always consider the fees associated with each platform and factor them into your pricing strategy.

Best websites to sell Pokemon cards?

ORIGINAL POST

I have probably… I don’t know, a couple hundred or so Pokemon cards that I would love to sell. Some are older and rare, so they’re worth a good amount (1st gen Pikachu, Zapdos to name a few) and some are newer. Are there websites that are good options for selling or should I try to find some local brick-and-mortar shops that’ll take them?

I use PriceCharting.com which is actually really accurate and has an app where you can put your collection and track the prices of your collection so I really recommend price charting. You can only make a collection on the app though

B&M is probably your last resort worst option. If you don't want to sell on eBay or tcgplaher, then shop around for online buylists.

i don’t mind selling on ebay, i just didn’t know if the market was great there.

Ebay allows you to send with a regular envelope for under a dollar for a few cards, provided you use a hard shell of some sort.

Even with fees this is sometimes a better deal than selling on other platforms. Always calculate your shipping and platform fees.

You generally get a bit more than buylist, but you are also putting in more effort.

Just look at the sold section which shows how many have been sold recently. You can then search by individual card to see the market price for it.

Well they’re better than troll and toad

“Your cards are damaged” so I ask for them back.

They sent me a bunch of random af cards that weren’t mine.

Oh yeah, i sold em a hefty buylist of ygo cards qouted at 150 and they miraculously lost two of the most expensive cards on the list and knocked it down to 100 bucks. Skeeves and scumbags, i feel bad for anyone who does business with them moving forward.

I sold some on eBay. You’ll have to do some research reg pricing. Some holos I thought would sell for $10+ were selling for ¢.99.

eBay and TCGPlayer are good go-tos. I switched my trading card selling entirely to eBay after they started offering tracked shipping on trading cards for like, 55 cents.

It looks like you're wondering if those cards have any value. Generally speaking, if it's a First Edition, Holographic or Promo card it's worth looking into. Take a look at our Pokemon card evaluation guide to see how to determine the value of your cards. Always know the value of every card you have before selling to avoid getting low-balled.

I’d also recommend eBay and filtering by sold items so you can see actual recent paid prices for items. It gives you a feel for not just what they should be worth, but what they’re truly selling for

This one has a few outliers but looks mostly like $20-60 for mistys tears

I was in facebook group that was pretty decent. Sales made mostly every day, fair prices, and its fb so anyone can make a selling post really easy. I got permanently banned for mocking someone for trying to up charge heavily on a card though rip.

Mercari is good for selling collectibles. Just remember if it's over $300 it's not covered if you used a pre paid shipping label.

I do eBay, TCGplayer, and my own Instagram and I find that TCGplayer has the easiest time selling cards. I put anything from 25 cents to $50 a card up there and most times my stock gets destroyed which is pretty cool because claim sales take a lot of energy. My vote is TCGplayer

For the best returns probably eBay but it requires the most time and effort. Stores most likely aren't going to buy it at the going rate as they have to make a profit. The only issue with eBay is PayPal will almost always side with the buyer.

As someone else said you can also try your local game store but some are better than others there too.

1 upvotes on reddit

eBay is a major time investment and is more like a part time job honestly. I try selling only a few cards here and there over a few months, but it still becomes a hassle. I’ve had cards stolen on eBay and damaged in the mail causing me to send extra cards etc. you name it. I’ve since started to sell to my LCS and people who shop there. If I ever needed to sell my entire collection fast, reddit would probably be the best and safest place to do it

2 upvotes on reddit
ilovecoolthings · 6 years ago

If your looking for something quick and to not deal with shipping I’d check out a local game store. You might find some cool cards while your there.

1 upvotes on reddit
DustinTheGreat1 · 6 years ago

eBay is good if your looking to move it quick. Just make sure you have a competitive price.

Instagram has a big Pokémon community. If you make an account you can start showing off your collection and selling your collection. Will take time but it’s possible and the community is great. Usually has the best prices too.

Instagram, kijiji,fb market place. Have them e transfer or send through family and friends in PayPal. This way you don't need to pay eBay a 20% or whatever it is fee.

Onde comprar e vender minhas cartas?

Posted by rasksas · in r/PokemonTCGBrasil · 9 months ago

best places to sell pokemon cards online

Key Considerations for Selling Pokémon Cards Online:

  1. Platform Reputation: Choose platforms that are well-known and trusted within the Pokémon community to ensure a safe selling experience.

  2. Fees and Commissions: Be aware of any selling fees or commissions that platforms may charge. Some platforms take a percentage of the sale, while others may have listing fees.

  3. Target Audience: Consider where your target buyers are likely to shop. Some platforms cater specifically to collectors, while others have a broader audience.

  4. Ease of Use: Look for platforms that are user-friendly, allowing you to easily list your cards and manage your sales.

  5. Payment Protection: Ensure the platform offers secure payment options to protect both you and the buyer.

Recommended Platforms:

  1. eBay: A popular choice for selling Pokémon cards, eBay has a large audience and allows for auction-style or fixed-price listings. Be mindful of seller fees (around 10-12%).

  2. TCGPlayer: Specifically designed for trading card games, TCGPlayer is a great platform for selling Pokémon cards. It has a built-in pricing guide and a large community of buyers.

  3. Facebook Marketplace: This platform allows for local sales and can be a quick way to sell cards without shipping. Just ensure you meet in safe, public locations.

  4. Cardmarket (Europe): If you're in Europe, Cardmarket is a dedicated marketplace for trading cards, including Pokémon, and is popular among collectors.

  5. Instagram or Twitter: Social media platforms can be effective for selling cards directly to followers or through dedicated Pokémon trading groups.

Recommendation: If you're looking for a straightforward and community-focused experience, TCGPlayer is highly recommended for its specialized audience and ease of use. For broader reach, eBay is a solid choice, especially if you have rare or valuable cards.
