TL;DR For raids in "The Final Shape," consider using Sleeper Simulant, Gjallarhorn, and Anarchy for reliable DPS. Warlocks should look into Contraverse Holds with Nova Bomb, while Hunters might benefit from Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk with void subclasses.
Exotic Weapons and Armor
Several exotic weapons remain top choices for raid gear due to their consistent high damage output. Sleeper Simulant and Gjallarhorn are frequently recommended for their reliability in DPS scenarios [2:1]
[3:1]. Additionally, Witherhoard and Divinity have been noted as useful exotics
[3:2]. For Warlocks, Contraverse Holds paired with Nova Bomb is a popular choice, especially since Well of Radiance may not be optimal for the new raid
[3:1].
Class-Specific Recommendations
When considering class-specific gear, Hunters can benefit from using Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk with a void subclass, along with weapons like Funnelweb or Harsh Language [2:3]. Star-Eater Scales is also recommended for boss damage on arc subclasses
[2:3]. Warlocks should focus on add-clear capabilities with SMGs or hand cannons, and consider using Sleeper Simulant or Izanagi's Burden for boss DPS
[3:1].
Legendary Weapons and Mods
While exotic weapons are crucial, having strong legendary weapons and mods is equally important. A good linear fusion rifle or a rocket launcher with Clown Cartridge can complement your loadout effectively [2:1]. Building around mods like unstoppable or overload during encounters can enhance your performance
[3:3].
Fashion and Style Considerations
Beyond functionality, many players appreciate the aesthetic appeal of certain armor sets. The RoN Warlock set and Taken King set have been highlighted for their unique designs [1:1]
[1:7]. Players often pair these with other pieces to achieve a desired look, such as combining Warlock gauntlets with Witcher robes
[1:9].
In summary, choosing the best raid gear involves balancing effective weaponry and armor for your class, while also considering personal style preferences. Experimenting with different combinations and staying updated with meta changes will ensure you are well-prepared for raids in "The Final Shape."
RoN's Warlock chest takes the cake for me. Genuinely unique silhouette from our collection and I love extra appendages.
It’s basically a Diablo 3 Witch Doctor set.
the RoN warlock set is in the top 3 best warlock sets in the entirety of the Destiny franchise imo.
The Dark Age sets from Warlord's Ruin are much more my style than everything else we've had this year.
Pretty much the case for me although I don't have that set myself yet, it's the same deal as the majority of the Deep Explorer/Hakke set minus the helmet there as my preference is grounded looks (like the Division) unless I'm going for an Armored Knight which there aren't too many options for in D2, fantasy armor just isn't my thing.
I regret choosing Warlock as my main class back in D1 because the Trench-coat look in the long run have ended up being the exceptions in favor of "dresses" or fantasy looks, would of rather been a Titan for both mechanics and looks in hindsight.
The Hunter cloak is just absolute peak.
I love the robes for warlock, I always pair it with my swarmers fashion
Been loving using the warlock gauntlets with the Witcher robes, they have the same squared-but-slightly-rounded metal plates and the fur is very similar
Been loving the taken king set immensely. I rock Lament with the Logic ornament a lot so it helps give that hive knight titan look
The warlock robes are hard to beat
The taken king set goes hard on all 3 classes.
Looks too flat on Warlock imo
Hello, guys. I recently got back into Destiny 2. The game has changed quite a bit for me, so I was wondering whether there are still some "must-have gears" in the game for raids. I remember back in Destiny, on King's Fall people would kick you out if you didn't have a sleeper; so, just to avoid not pleasant moments, what special gear should I prepare for raids?
Thanks for the help
OP what class/subclass do you intend on raiding with? There are many weapons that are fairly accessible and would be beneficial to what you’re playing as.
I do agree with WutsAWriter though. Especially with the nerfs to linear fusion rifles that came with Lightfall. There’s going to be some experimenting with the new raid Friday and going forward in general.
Sorry for the late response.
I don't know what gear I intending on using, yet. Any recommendations for a hoonter?
Sorry I missed your response myself
I would definitely say to try void hunter with gyrfalcon’s hauberk. Equip a funnelweb or the new wave frame grenade launcher harsh language and a void machine gun or the the regnant heavy launcher. I main hunter and pretty much live on the void subclass. Star eater scales is also great for boss damage on arc subclass with gathering storm super. Getting your hands on a hothead rocket launcher, ikelos smg are great. Thunderlord is good too
I mean, not really. They’ve nerfed some things a little, and buffed some things a little. There’s some huge gaps in overall damage but most DPS for most heavy weapons is kinda getting closer — at least closer than it used to be.
There’s reliable always-there’s like Gjallarhorn, Sleeper Simulant, and Anarchy (again!!!), but if you’re looking for legendaries to round our load out I’d go for a really good linear (though ironically the best one actually comes from a raid), and if you can find a clown cartridge rocket launcher I’d grab that too. If you’ve got Lightfall the new Heavy Grenade Launcher has Explosive Light in its pool. I’d try to get a little of everything so if you’re joining groups you can feel comfy about it.
Thankfully (imo), there’s not an explicit “you have to have this specific roll of this specific weapon or gtfo” loadout currently. Some still lean a little stronger than others, but it’s not as bad as Breech & Clear days or the Linear meta.
Thanks! Glad to hear that. The old days fomo with gear really kept me stressed back then lol.
Like there’s still some weapons you’d probably want most? Or some damage rolls on guns that are better than others, that’ll always be that way. But yeah it’s not game ruining now lol. Thankfully.
Afternoon all,
I was out of town last week and I am heading into the new raid this weekend blind. Since every guide video is a spoiler, I was just looking for suggestions on what gear to have infused to light level. I am running on my warlock so feel free to suggest exotic armor too. Big thanks!
For exotics... Witherhoard, Outbreak, Sleeper, and Divinity.
Build around having an unstoppable or an overload mod during any given encounter
You're not gonna believe this but 6 rat kings absolutely shit on the first boss.
I have actually done that on a few raid bosses! LOL good times
on caretaker? don’t tease me m8.
I ain't playing I swear
Sleeper and isinagis is a top choice right now.
If you run izinaigs for dps then an auto loading rocket or linear is the best to pair with. Otherwise sleeper and a legendary sniper is easier but a little bit less dps.
As far as warlock, contra verse holds are recalls good considering you are using nova bomb most of the time(well of radiance doesn’t really have a place in this raid)
For add clear you could use funnelweb or any other smg or handcannon.
Despite being 3200 hrs player, I've never done the Raid (lmk if I can join you-PS5) so I've not gotten to use the 4 stars.
So what's the best ones for weapons and armor?

for weapons it varies so much, but my personal preference is a combo of the 2* crippling and 4* fractures, for non-PA i prefer sawbones for the passive health regeneration, for PA i use aegis when I’m helping teammates, reflective for my carryweight armor, pyros is also good for any weapon that sets enemies on fire
Been back in the game about a month now. Haven't played in years. What's the 5 or 6 pieces of gear that are like the best to have? Want to know what to focus on
At this point I dont really have a "playstyle" lol. I just go in and swipe and tap and block like a little kid would. I rely on my specials to wipe out the opponent most of the time now so looking for attack boost on regular hits and specials, extra power, something that can save me from dying. Just gonna have to get what I can get as I can get it i just didn't know if there was like 6 pieces for my main 2 champs people would recommend the most is all. I did manage to get the astral bubble thing where once it's evolved it stops you from being kod 1 time at 30% or something and got really lucky with the ras al guls dagger but the rest is all mostly 1 and 2*. My 2nd account is got 1 of the LOA pieces and almost cried lol

Build your set up to complement your playing style. Then when you get matching sets slap them on.
It doesn't really matter, you can adjust the stats when you want.
But what pieces are the best to start with when it comes to ultra rare stuff like cloak of destiny, ipstick, tantu totem, lexcorp piece, forth world set, LOA set; ras a ghuls dagger. And there's a few more that help survivability and stats.
Long story short I haven’t touched the game since the final shape campaign. Which legendary weapons are the go to’s currently? Can be for both PvE and PvP so I have something to chase
The episodic ritual weapons (from this season’s episode) are all solid with some really fun perk combinations. As usual, rocket sidearms and area-denial grenade launchers are great special ammo weapons. If you played consistently before you took a break and have weapons you enjoy that have subclass vocab perks (incandescent, slice, destabilizing rounds, etc) then you should be fine. Even though you didn’t ask for exotic recommendations, I HIGHLY recommend you use the exotic Choir of One from Episode: Echoes. It’s the only exotic that you missed that I recommend you use.
Edit: the weapons from the Vespers Host dungeon (especially the heavy and special GLs) are very good
rocket sidearms and area denial frames in general, and then everything that drops from vog is a good start
Anything that has ability synergy loot doesn’t really matter anymore
All of them. Kind of the entire point of the game.
Last season Banshee was giving away some absolute god rolls as a make good for Weightgate. I can’t remember if they are still available or not but the rocket sidearm from Warlord’s ruin and the GL from Vesper’s host are amazing. You’ll need a clear of both those dungeons but if you can complete the dungeons, do so and grab those guns.
Also not sure when Bungie said the freebies would expire, maybe someone can advise but I’m pretty sure you can still get them!
As soon as i found full crucible armor. I havent taken it off
And it slightly helps with holy damage resistabce against him too funnily enough
Had no idea. I just wear it because its the beefiest armor i can wear with my weapons before i heavy roll.
I'm pretty sure it's slightly worse overall than Tree Sentinel but both are pretty even when you account for the crucible incant buff
I wantee to wear that armor, but it ended up being just too heavy. I also don't use incantations, so that part of the crucible armor is useless to me
That first armour arrangement did not need to go that hard. Drip so tough that it alone drops Radahn's health by 50%.
The shield is what makes it imo. Blue to go with Blaidds cloak and also a big shield to compliment the bulkier look.
I love the Black Knight Armor because it reminds me of Skyrim’s Ebony Mail plus the Divine Beast Helm lets you cosplay as a Khajiit.
“Warms sands” and all that.
love that helmet with nights cav
+1 for using an actually good-looking shield, instead of the Brass Dorito
What weapon is that?
I think it’s Helphen’s Steeple
For best flat armor it's dragonbone. But that's only slightly ahead of godbreaker. It's also easier to get imo.
It depends on if you are focusing on agility or strength. Also what type light, medium, or heavy. Best armor numbers I believe is still godbreaker heavy armor. If you do go into the warmaker's dungeon. Make sure when you fight the champion (lady with a mace) in the big sandy area put your follower or followers on not follow on the side. She can two shot most followers in the game. Followers can fight the other stuff fine.
I second this. First OP should decide their build and playstyle, then choose armor that fits it. There is no single armor that is the best one for everyone.
Wait she can? My follower wasn't just underleveled?
She ignores armor and hits like a truck. Shield still works but you'll lose a chunk of shield health blocking her. Hardest hitting thing in the game. No one seems to know why. It's just surprising since she's where a midlevel boss in a dungeon would be.
Yes, she's too much for any follower unless you get two of the and somehow manages to keep her stunlocked for the whole fight with no fail at all. It's too risky, so it's better to leave your follower (or followers if you have two) on a corner waiting without joining the fight, while you deal with her by yourself while keeping her away from them. Believe it when people say she two-shot even the best flowwers, it's not an exaggeration, it's the real thing.
The followers can deal with everything else inside the dungeon, it's just her that they can't overcome.
2 thralls should be able to take care of the Arena Champion without too much issues unless their damage is very low. They'll just keep interrupting her and she'll never be able to attack. And even if she does get out of stunlock, you're still there.
Hi OP there are lot of good armor pieces depending on how you want to construct your build:
• Rangers armor is good for a lot of different builds: Full Agility, Encumbrance, Authority, anything where your primary weapon will be a Katana, Knives, Claws, or Spear (always check the weapon type to match your armor).
• Strength builds are a bit different - for starters you’ll generally want your stats 20-20-20 (STR-AGL-VIT). Popular pieces include (but by no means an exhaustive list): Voidforge Dragon Ribs, Leggings of Kurak, Champions Boot, Silent Legion Helmet, perfected Heavy Gauntlets, Perfected Heavy Tasset, Spiderclimb Boots, Godbreaker Grips
• The general theme is that pieces either maximize your strength DPS or give you more stamina - heavy armor requires more stamina to increase your maneuverability in combat. The Champion’s pieces each give you additional benefits such as immunity to bleed, poison, corruption, etc. Another category that’s become more popular recently is concussive damage because it can clear the enemies stamina pool (mainly a PvP trick).
Of course regardless of your build you also want to make sure you always have both salted pork/exisite meat and a strength/agility potion.
For weapons you always want master weapon fittings, for armor you either want modded with bulk plating or weapon reduction kits.
Ok so people telling you if you're focusing on damage stuff, but here's the real deal for this game;
The strongest defensive armours are;
Champions armour number one. Removes; corruption, bleed, cripples, poisons as well as the affixes on the gear pieces themselves. Also has the max weather res you can get for gear, 40/40 hot/cold, when the max is 50/50 in the game. You can go anywhere without needing foods etc. Has the highest armour value. made with a shieldwright + armour attachments, can reach 78% DR pretty easily, 1700+ armour.
Godbreaker, has some extra abilities too, but not nearly as good as Champions with how the game has changed, and only protects against one or the other hot/cold.
Or the budget version; Redeemed Silent Legion heavy.
All the damage etc. affixes tbh aren't really needed. I can play with no points in strength or agility, and kill shit just fine in these gears. The game is not needing damage min/maxing, but things can hit incredibly hard and stuff, and these gears letting you just facetank shit easily make it all pretty trivial.
I would only focus on 'damage' if you're playing PvP.
Otherwise, any of the three sets above, especially Champions just makes you godmode PvE.
For thralls; the best overall gear imo is the 'Perfected Exile Epic Heavy' set, as it boosts both agility/strenght, so suits any thrall, they make use of both stats, and it's cheap to make, and has a higher armour value than everything else except the above three, but the above three aren't as needed for thralls, they don't take weather effects and things like that, not really necessary for them, and grinding armour scraps for Champions for them all would be one hell of a grind to try and do.
Hello Friends! I am a returning player I missed most of final shape and am returning now I’m curious what must have weapons should grind for both PvP and PvE thank you!
any craftable weapon with double perks
Tinashas mastery with chill clip from Iron Banana, properly used it can stun all the champs and leave your exotic weapon slot open for something fun!
Oh boy, the list is long as long you have the patience to work for it
Non-Exotic Raid Weapon: Timelost Vault of Glass weapons (and craftable non-Timelost), Craftable Garden of Salvation weapons, and Deep Stone Crypt Weapons
Exotic Raid: Conditional Finality (Root of Nightmare)
Dungeon: Warlord Ruin: Indebted Kindness, Buried Bloodline (Exotic) Vesper Host: VS Velocity Baton, VS Gravitic Arrest and VS Chill Inhibitor, and Icebreaker (Exotic)
Vanguard: wait for this season’s return of the Palindrome, and the new VOID rocket sidearms, the Lotus Eater
I'm thinking titles, emblems, cosmetics shaders etc. Which are the best, while also being rare and taking some skill to acquire.
gilded unbroken x6(iirc thats max number)
day 1 raid emblems
flawless raid shaders
outside the game, flawless 3 man raids tags on raid.report
I think Maximum gilding on flawless is way more impressive than unbroken.
Not sure why you're getting downvoted, you're 100% right. Flawless and Gilded Flawless both require you to carry guardians who haven't gone Flawless in a season, and while it can be "cheesed" if you have good friends, it's still a tough ask for the majority of the playerbase.
Ignoring that Unbroken is no longer obtainable, I feel even though you can get Flawless within a season, it still is significantly harder than Unbroken as it has actual skill requirements as opposed to a commitment to grind for 3 seasons.
Unbroken kinda easy compared to flawless tbh
You got downvoted but you’re right. Unbroken can be gotten these days by just playing enough times. They made it so much easier
Flawless 2 man tags go harder
The Heavy as Death emblem from Iron Banner a while back for 2500 kills under the Iron Burden is pretty solid in my opinion.
I have this one. God what an insane grind. I still use the emblem quite often. I had to figure out how many kills per Day per IB to ensure I would’ve made the 2500 requirement.
Rivensbane, I guess. Petra's Run is still a pain, I believe. Haven't run it in a long time.
I like having the platinum starling ship, but that’s about it
Also the taken ship!
You can buy the sparrow for spoils, doesn't mean much.
