TL;DR
Octane: The Go-To Choice
The Octane is consistently mentioned as the most popular car in Rocket League, particularly among professional players and experienced gamers. Its balanced hitbox makes it a versatile choice for all types of gameplay, from aerial maneuvers to ground control [1:4]
[2:4]
[3:6]. Many players suggest starting with the Octane to get a feel for the game and then experimenting with other vehicles as you develop your play style
[5:5].
Dominus and Fennec: Popular Alternatives
Besides the Octane, the Dominus and Fennec are also frequently recommended. These cars have different shapes and hitboxes that might suit different play styles. The Dominus is known for its flat body, which can be advantageous for specific maneuvers, while the Fennec offers a boxier shape that some find easier to control [2:2]
[2:4]
[3:6].
Experimentation is Key
While certain cars like the Octane, Dominus, and Fennec are popular choices, many users emphasize the importance of personal preference. Trying out different cars to see which one feels the most comfortable is encouraged. Some players enjoy using less conventional options like the Merc or Jager, which offer unique handling characteristics [2:7]
[3:8]
[4:5].
Hitbox Awareness
Understanding the hitbox of each car is crucial. Some cars have unusual shapes that don't correspond well to their actual hitbox, making them harder to use effectively. For example, the Scarab and Aftershock have been noted for this discrepancy [2:1]. As a beginner, sticking to cars with more standard hitboxes like the Octane or Dominus can help ease the learning curve.
Personal Comfort and Style
Ultimately, the "best" car is subjective and depends on what feels right for you. While there are no cars that inherently provide an advantage, finding one that complements your play style can make a significant difference in your performance [5:1].
Hi guys ,
i'm trying to get into this game but can't rly decide what car to use , since i'v read that each car is better for one thing .
Use whatever you like. Car choice is far less important than you think.
Diestro is where it's at
Octane for sure
If you're new it really doesn't matter. Start with the ones you think look the best. You can always try different ones later.
As someone that has used about every car and regularly plays with different ones, you can always swap around, it’s more about how you feel using it than actual differences
As the title says, what is the best car to use without buying new ones. Thanks! See you in game!
Edit: best car in your opinion ;)
best is subjective, but the most popular are octane, dominus, fennec.
any car can be viable. there aren't really any that give a distinct advantage or disadvantage
but play around and see what you like. some people only drive one car, some people drive different cars every time they play.
The mantis. It takes more skill than any other car but once you master it you can take over the world
Posting because OP is a new player and may not realize this is sarcasm.
You think I’m being sarcastic?
Play with the octane and dominus to see what feels best to you. Those are two classics that you cannot go wrong with. A newer car that is actually really good is the fennec, but like some others are saying, the octane is the safest bet.
The best car is the one that feels best to you. :)
Its beacuse i was driving the paladin one, but another told me it was a noob car? :D
Sounds like they just don’t like people to do what they want...
Paladin is a plank type so it’s identical to the mantis, sentinel, og batmobile, etc.
The bottom line is if you play a bunch and find a car you feel good in, use it. No car has an advantage over any other car inherently. I use planks myself and despite everyone telling me octanes are better at 50/50s I win a better rate of those against octanes than any other.
#THATS WHAT SHE SAID
This too
There are a few cars that may be harder to use because they have a very unusual shape that doesn't correspond well to the actual (invisible) hitbox, e.g. Scarab, Aftershock, Esper.
But otherwise, use what you like. It isn't that hard to switch between cars, so don't feel like you're locking yourself into a choice. And the difference between cars is tiny (except the confusing shaped ones).
Eventually you'll develop a play style of your own that may steer you toward flatter (e.g. Dominus) or taller (e.g. Octane), but you've got a few thousand games to play before that starts being a concern.
Have fun!
I currently use dominus gt but i also like the octane
I'm D2/D3 and see mostly Octane and Octane ZSR, but plenty of people use Batmobile, Dominus, and I even see the Merc occasionally. Use whatever you prefer!
I seem to feel a connection to the octane but i have no cool decal for it and it kinda breaks the car for me. I used to have a disortion but not anymore
Rofl if you cant stick to a car because of a stupid decal, just download alpha console and you can have every decal you want. But only you and other players who use alpha console as well can see it...
skinz=winz ^/s
Merc lol?
Always Octane, until Psyonix actually makes the other families playable.
Octane, Dominus and Batmobile are the cars used the most in order
What is the difference between the ZSR and default octane
Try every car and play with the car youre the most comfortable with.
Pro tend to stick to the octane. But Batmobile and Dominus can be found in competitive as well.
I love the jager. If you haven't tried it you should give it a try. Also big fan of the endo
for me the merc bcz its good for demo and in defense
Whenever I get burnt out on octanes and fennec I always got back to the mudCat
I only have a grey version of the mudcat, wish I bought more before they removed trading :(
I like the jager
backfire! if anyone remembers markydooda talking about it
this is my best car, I've got 15 wins with this car
I know it's mostly opinion based, but still curious if there is technically a "best car in the game"
No, there isn't a "technically" best car in the game.
All weird cars are good, scarab grog smth like that
Scarab... the mentality of your opponents just goes out the window when you clip on them in a scarab.
Octane
There is no "best" car, it depends on which one is more comfortable for you and with which car you play better. The most popular car is Octane.
Domino’s
I did that on purpose i just wanted to see if people saw the mistake.
Sure thing of course you did mr porpoise
Did yall see the mistake?
I'm always down for a good ol breakdown
Not bad
I'd recommend the octane obviously, but my first car was the takumi. It's like a mini tank lol
I‘d say I just left my beginner stage and entered advanced in the game and I don’t get all the vehicle rankings posted here. My favorite cars are sports car and rotator. With my sports car I win all the races and my times are not even close to any other cars, but everyone here says this car sucks because of acceleration. I also like the rotator for its handling and speed. I can’t stand the dune buggy because it immediately goes into wheelie as soon as you hit the gas, super diesel is way too bouncy. Hill climbers, monster truck, super bike are just way too slow. So I‘m excited to try rally and muscle car because they‘re being recommended here, but I don’t understand why people are saying sports car sucks because it was the best beginner car for me by far.
Sports car does consists of slow acceleration but its speed is quite the average as compared to other vehicles. Your opinion on rotator is also good. It is quite good vehicle for me and mastery will completely revolutionize it and it was also my beginner vehicle.
Those cars can't handle a lot of maps, dune buggy is just tricky, but it's a good car, same with the Rally, i would recommend you to use either Rally, Dune Buggy or Muscle Car
Tf you mean buggy is tricky, I can't possibly think of a vehicle with a lower skill cap
Rally isnt tricky to drive, its just its nonexistent grip that makes it hard to use sometimes
Cups are a very bad way to check if a vehicle is good or not
Also buggy wheeling isn't a bad thing
How do you mean it’s not a bad thing? If I don’t brake all the time it would just flip over. Or is there a trick?
What are your tunes for dune buggy? I assume your suspension is relatively low
The reason why every1 says sports car sucks is because it accelerates EXTREMELY slowly which makes you pay when you are up against other fast accelerating cars, especially when you reach legendary.
buggy is literally the best early game adventure vehicle and it carries in cups too (thanks to great acceleration) until you get rally or muscle car
For the record, I have read the guide, but i dont think its listed unless im a total idiot and just missed the thing completely. Whats the friendliest car to drive for a beginner just trying to play casually? Not trying to tryhard everything, just want to have a good time driving around a track finishing 90 secs behind best time. Thank you!
Pick a car. I recommend to pick a car you like. You can pick metas if you want but if you have a favourite car other than the metas (Evo 9, R32, R35, etc etc) then I recommend to pick it. Do ask if it is good though. 2. Full tune it. I kinda kept it mostly tuned for a long time. And because of this. I lost a good amount of races. So full tune it if you can maybe do some GhostVS and VS along the way to spice it up.all 80 story chapters. 3. Train. Not rigorous training. But understand the physics of the game and car, how much steering input you need and what not. I suggest using manual ofc. Check some older Reddit posts on how some people shift up and down if you need to. And to train you can use all three modes. Story, GhostVS and TA. I personally rarely used TA but GhostVS, Story and VS helped me a lot. 4. Have fun. It's an arcade game. Not life. Make sure to have fun. People make the mistake of getting winning of losing to their head. I personally love to take challenges. Once I win or lose, it's a good idea to just be happy of the race (if it was a good one) You might meet slammers and heavy blockers and whatnot but don't mind them. I tend to give them all a handshake before I/they leave.
Note: Green button changes camera. Good to check your rearview on cam2 Red button changes mode. When Ur in story or GhostVS. You can swap between Accept VS or Decline VS. while driving. You can enable or disable this to either race against other people or let them vs each other and you do your thing. I personally use decline if I wanna complete a ghostVS or if it's a 5 year old kid wanting to play the game.
Anyways. Have fun. And I hope this helped.
Well, thats the problem. I dont really have a liking towards a specific car (well, im planning to use japanese brands). Ive seen someone playing with bmws and european brands and i thought "wait, they have european brands now"? I played the 3rd version before (i think? The "savefile" is the paper card one, you get the O stamps when you beat a story) and i dont remember if they have those brands back then.
Ive seen some random tierlist but idk, its probably better to ask ppl who play the game 1000x better
So yeah, im struggling to pick a car basically, since i wont know which one is easy to drive for beginner (well technically not a complete beginner but you know, its years and decades ago)
Also im a "chill guy" type of guy, plays auto all the time (probably will give the manual a go later down the line) and prefers to drive smoothly if that helps (again, im not a tryhard trying to win everything)
Thanks a lot though!
Chill guy cars comes in many forms. If you mean that you're not a rough player. You can pick something light. Like an RX7. Great cars. Amazing grip. One of the best runners. And good customisation. You can always go with the metas. Maybe choose something from the tierlist? Beginner friendly cars are the metas but some others like AE86 are good too.
maybe try to see the car list and pick what you like from there? whatever you choose won’t matter that much unless you’re try-harding. if you like to customize the car just pay attention before choosing your car since some cars can’t get costumized
R32 and RX7 FD are the most beginner friendly cars, with the RX7 (and other rotaries) having a shift indicator when it beeps
Tell us what you think are the three coolest looking cars and then go from there.
Thats the neat part, I dont have a taste in "cool looking cars" (well, i now since chose the rx7 because why not)
Do you want to play automatic or manual? RX-7 gets a free shifting indicator which will get you ahead of the learning curve by a massive amount. (I have friends who have maxed out several cars and still don't understand proper shift timings)
If you're super super casual and don't care, automatic is enough to make you better than the majority of players. Most people aren't shifting better than automatic mode, and even those that do, will still mess up from time to time on unexpected losses of speed.
If you don't even care about finishing 90 second behind the best time, why does it matter if you're in a beginner friendly car or not? The recommended cars are 'meta' and for those who want as much advantage as possible. If you want to play in style, go Hiace.
I probably will go auto for first car, get familiar with the arcade, then go manual and pick a really wild car out there for second car for the lols
Short Description:
The Chevrolet Camaro LT is a stylish and performance-oriented sports coupe that seamlessly blends aggressive design with the option to serve as a daily driver. Sandwiched between the base LS and the higher-performance SS models, the LT offers a solid balance of power and comfort. It usually comes with a turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder engine or an optional 3.6L V6, delivering performance while maintaining decent fuel economy. With some modern tech features, a driver-focused interior, and sharp handling, the Camaro LT appeals to those who want a muscle car feel without the full-throttle intensity and price of the top trims.
In-game:
The Camaro LT is one of the best cars for beginners, because it is in Class D, and it has a good top speed for the rank, and good nitro efficiency. Even though it has average handling, drifting, and acceleration, it can compete with other Class D cars and is a beast in multiplayer. This was one of my first cars in-game that I enjoyed driving, just because of the sharp looks, and how it drove. But now, it is just an indefinite source of Trade Coins with the Daily Car Loot. I still use it sometimes in MP2 for some easy wins, but besides that, it is just a solid early game car. Any thoughts?
great car , I remember unlocking it for the first time and it was an instant max out
only replaced it with DS-Etense
good top speed
everything else not good
but still , a good pratice car to use before handling the 911 and other quicker b class cars
performance rating : 2/10
importance : 5/10
Its pretty decent for MP2, used a lot in career looks cool in matte black but asides from that no other use ig.
Where's day 4?
One of my first cars I could pass C class car hunts with and a good choice to start MP as a beginner.
Recently I bought the Titanium White Mudcat GXT for 110 CR. Not only is it cheap and good looking, it feels so much better to me than both the octane and fennec. Why don’t people use it??
From my personal perspective as a Octane main, I actually wanted to main the Mudcat when it came out in the respective Rocket Pass, but even after multiple hours of using it, it felt like i can't get the same hits on the ball and all shots and flicks felt so weak, so i given up on it.
Just for comparison, i also switched to Fennec main for a short time a while ago and it felt pretty good from the beginning.
Thanks for the input. I’m starting to realize the reason it’s not used as much is because it’s not as great for others as I think lol.
Technically it's the same car as the Fennec and the Octane, so nothing wrong if you go for it, especially if you have a good feeling with it. It just seems like it doesn't fit for most of the people.
I hated it
Really? I just feel like it has more power behind it shows and body being longer than the fennec feels better to me.
The glowing stickers looked terrible, I would have to make every car secondary black to hide them.
Subjectivity...
Best Rocket League car for beginners
Key Considerations for Choosing a Car in Rocket League:
Hitbox Type: Cars have different hitboxes that affect how they interact with the ball. For beginners, a car with a standard hitbox (like the Octane) is recommended for easier ball control.
Handling and Control: Look for cars that are easy to handle and control. Cars with a balanced design will help you learn the mechanics without feeling overwhelmed.
Speed and Acceleration: A car with good speed and acceleration will help you get to the ball quickly and make plays. However, prioritize control over speed when starting out.
Aerial Capability: While beginners may not focus on aerials initially, choosing a car that can perform well in the air will help as you progress.
Recommended Cars for Beginners:
Octane: Widely regarded as the best all-around car for beginners. It has a balanced hitbox, good handling, and is versatile for both ground and aerial play.
Dominus: Offers a flatter design which can be beneficial for flicks and dribbling. It's also a popular choice among players who prefer a more aggressive playstyle.
Breakout: Known for its flat hitbox, it provides excellent control and is great for dribbling and flicking, making it a solid choice for beginners.
Takeaway: Start with the Octane to build your foundational skills, as it is the most forgiving and versatile car. As you become more comfortable, you can experiment with other cars like the Dominus or Breakout to find what suits your playstyle best.
