TL;DR The best Samsung phone depends on your priorities: the S23 Ultra is a top contender for overall performance and features, while older models like the S10+ and Note 9 are fondly remembered for their design and functionality.
Current Flagship Models
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is frequently mentioned as one of the best current options due to its balanced performance across various categories such as camera quality, software integration, and overall user experience [1]. The One UI ecosystem is praised for its seamless integration with other Samsung devices, making it a strong choice for those already invested in Samsung's tech ecosystem
[1:1].
Older Models with Strong Legacy
Many users have fond memories of older Samsung models like the Galaxy S7 Edge, S8, and S10+. These phones were considered peak designs during their time, offering features like fast wireless charging, high screen-to-body ratios, and innovative fingerprint sensors [2:2],
[3:1],
[3:6]. The S10 series, in particular, is often highlighted for its three-camera setup, microSD card support, and headphone jack
[5:3].
Note Series Highlights
The Note series has been a favorite for many users, especially the Note 9 and Note 20 Ultra. These models offered unique features like the S-Pen, curved AMOLED displays, and robust hardware that appealed to power users [3:8],
[5:7]. The Note 9 is particularly celebrated for its comprehensive feature set, including the headphone jack and microSD support, which are increasingly rare in newer models
[3:12].
Affordable Options
For those seeking budget-friendly Samsung phones, the A-series offers decent performance at a lower price point. Models like the A55 are recommended for their good balance between price and performance, although they may not match the flagship models in terms of hardware capabilities [4:1],
[4:6].
Personal Preferences and Use Cases
Ultimately, the best Samsung phone for you will depend on your specific needs and preferences. If you prioritize cutting-edge features and integration within the Samsung ecosystem, the latest flagship models like the S23 Ultra might be ideal. However, if you value legacy features like the headphone jack and microSD support, older models like the S10+ or Note 9 could be more appealing.
Having an S23 Ultra as my daily driver, and having seen countless reviews and played around with all sorts of phones thanks to a friend working in a company that seeks out fake phones, I've sort of come to a conclusion why Samsung is considered one of the best. And the same goes for iPhone too.
Samsung phones aren't really the ABSOLUTE BEST in any category. Take, best speed, best performance, best cameras, best videos, best battery, etc., there will always be some Chinese phone that beats the Samsung flagship. But Samsung just appears to be the best ALL ROUND. It's not the absolute best, but in every single category, it's damn near the top. Which can't be said for any other phone brand I've encountered except maybe the iPhone. Even Google Pixel has amazing cameras and best AI... but poor speed and poor battery life. Huawei WOULD be the best all-rounder... except for the terrible security and LACK OF GOOGLE SUPPORT.
Samsung is just top-tier (but not necessarily the absolute best) in just about every category, without any major drawbacks or flaws like with Huawei. And this is why I think people always say Samsung phones are some of the best overall.
Plus, if there is one category I might be tempted to say Samsung does actually come top, it's the sheer number of features.
The reason I stuck with Samsung was carrier support and software features.
I didn't want to risk using a phone not sold buy my carrier since what matters most to me is coverage. I would have bought a Zenfone but I want phones with the best compatible bands for me.
Something that is understated is Samsung's software. Smartthings, smart tags, smart switch, good lock. Not everything is perfect like Samsung Notes, but you can choose to use them or not.
I think what also helps is that Samsungs field of tech is far outside of cellphones. They don't need to depend so much on the cellphone market as other manufacturers do. They have enough profit in electronics overall to actually take the risks of really doing whatever they want regardless of how popular or noticed it will be. And that is what enables them to be more innovative and top tier forever.
Got a Pixel 9 Regret after 2 days sold it on ebay and got the s24ultra. Very happy with that
Hopefully you didn't screw someone over by letting it get blacklisted soon for no payments
I got the money the buyer the phone. win win.
My most hard part with the google was the UI. Samsung is so much better. Also features only available inside the samsung world like smart view from mobile to TV.
What was wrong with the Pixel 9?
Ugly UI, missing features like smart view. This two together made me feel like a fool what i was when i buy the pixel because i thought the S24 did not have a pen like the note. No idea how i came to this wrong path, my fault, not googles.
Shame about Huawei. I will probably switch to Samsung once my Nova 2i dies
Samsung is good all around mostly due to software that tends to work well with the hardware. The One UI ecosystem has a lot of slick features that allow a bit of harmony with other Samsung devices. While they don't always have the bleeding edge hardware, it is close enough to bleeding edge to work well. There really isn't another android based lineup that compares. To me it is unfortunate as Samsung has begun to use this reputation to overpice their products, but there really is currently no competitor to switch to that gives a cohesive overall user experience in the android space.
for me its s7 edge and j4
S7edge note7 and s9+ were the peak designs of the samsung phones
Still using mine after 8 years . Looking to upgrade to an s25 soon
I know a guy (45+ yo)who runs multi businesses, atleast 500Cr+ networth and still using an S8. On contrary, his dad (80+yo) is rocking every flagship gadgets as soon as it launches. S8 to be honest is soo goated. But S7 edge is the peak design and performance for me except for its micro USB. I was using lenovo Zuk Z1 which was launched a year atleast before S7 launch had usb C 3.0.
S25 Ultra
Finally no random stutters/lags in the UI, it doesn't overheat doing basic stuff. It's way more comfortable to hold. Just wish battery was a little better
Doesn't this phone has one of the best battery life of almost all common flagship phones?
I am actually still using it to type this message (with a custom rom "noble rom OneUi 6.1") because my main s23u had pixel leakage (dead) near camera cutout and was sent in for repair. And besides the s9+ drama battery and slow charging i realised how much i actually like the fingerprint sensor on the back near the camera instead of the s23u under screen fingerprint sensor.
Came to say the Note 9 as well. It was truly a wonderful phone 📱
For S series, its S7 and note series is note 9. Anyone saying anything can fight me
I had the S8 and liked it but my S6 was a better phone for its time. Wasn't a fan of the S8's edge display gimmick, but loved the rear mounted fingerprint sensor.
My pick for sure. S10+ in the crystal white was a beautiful piece of machinery. I actually found it the other day because we upgraded to s25 but man, I miss those days.
I just traded my S10+ in 2 weeks ago. I loved that phone and had it for 6 years. It still functioned great in all ways except the battery took a sudden dive. RIP.
Hold it in your hand and unlock it. I love the rear fingerprint reader, the led, it was peak
Mine is Galaxy S7 Edge. Damn that phone was beautiful. I would still rock that phone design in 2023. Comment down below your favorite!
Was the s10 plus, now it's the base s23. Had mine since launch, not 1 single complaint.
I have that too! Great phone!
I have big hands, but the S23 Ultra has the best camera on a phone in the U.S. and I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max, Z Fold 4, and Pixel 7 pro. I'd say the pixel 7 pro tied w my iphone 14 pro max that I just upgraded to the 15. Likely the pixel 8 pro will be the same tie with the iphone 15 Pro Max.
I have a S10, and honestly, there isn't any phone more beautiful, it's just perfect.
Edit: Also, the front camera being at the side, for me, is so much more beautiful than the ones in the middle
I had that beautiful pearl white version. That phone was so light for the plus model It's ridiculous.
Verizon gave me a free upgrade from the S10e to the S23 and its like the same phone but better minus a headphone jack and sd card slot. Its great but cmon I miss those things.
Just picked up a used S10+ Snapdragon for $125. LOVE IT!
This and Note 8! Ours is still good if it weren't for crack screen. No lagging, can buy micro SD if you have full memory and S-Pen(note 8) is still working great!.
Note 9 without a doubt
They gave this phone Headphone Jack, Curved AMOLED, 1440p screen, Samsung dex, MicroSD, S-Pen, Iris scanning, Fingerprint scanner
The only thing I hate is Bixby button.
Note 9 was the one. Fingerprint scanner was in the perfect position, it was super fast to read and the little swipe down you could do on it to bring down the notifications was just lovely.
I upgraded to the Note 20 Ultra after the 9 and I regretted it immediately...
S8 was my favorite that I could remember too.
First Samsung I believe with a USB C port. First Samsung with a big screen to body ratio. Fast wireless charging I believe. Higher water resistance. Iris scanner. Had MST. The screen was higher resolution at the time. I feel like a lot of the Samsung apps that we still use today debuted at this time. First time I remember the battery life was optimized along side the snapdragon chip that came with it. It was awesome to be able to get 6+ hours of screen on time with the S8+.
Najviše me zanimaju iskustva sa A35 i A55 modelima.
Jeftini Samsung nije dobar telefon
Good for them.
Rabljeni ultra model star 3 godine pojede svaki novi A model.
Pogledaj Pixel 9a
Base model S25 ne opravdava cijenu i totalno me razočarao.
With the introduction of the Zfold 7, I think this might be one of their peak phones..
My personal high bars would be:
International Galaxy S2.
This phone was what started me in the smartphone and Samsung rabbit hole. It was so nice in both design, performance, and build. I believe it was the first super AMOLED display and first dual core soc. The isheep‘s only answer was to repeat resolution is low or the sub pixels are pentile ad nauseum. lol
Now the GS3 was the one most people championed but I had the 2 ahead at the time. That pebble stuff didn’t do much for me. I mean I loved it and it was a great phone but it didn’t match up to the S2 imo In their respective eras.
Samsung Galaxy S6/edge.
This phone was so sick, they even had an iron man version. First galaxy to use premium materials and a glass back and it was super premium and svelte. Plus the edge introduced the edge panel display where the software is still being used today for multi tasking.
Samsung galaxy S8.
infinity display made the phone look like years ahead of its time and the ergonomics were brilliant.
Samsung galaxy S21 ultra
Beautiful design and ergonomics, Best integration of a camera housing In a phone ever. Oh and 100x zoom for the win. The phantom black colour was also out of this world.
Zfold 1
First great foldable ever and my jaw dropped at the unpacked where they showed it.
Zfold 2
The biggest generational leap I have even seen in a foldable.
I am sure some notes should make this list but the only note I personally purchased was I believe it was the note 9.
If you include other companies.
iphone 1, iPhone 4s, iPhone 6, and iPhone X.
HTC one m7 had a huge hype job but I didn’t see it. Lol
I was hyped for the Sony Xperia Z but it didn’t live up to the hype unfortunately.
What say you?
Note 20 ultra
Is the Note 20 ultra the definitive best Note device ever for its time or are any other iterations close?
In my opinion it's the last and the ultimate phone of note series, and also the last great Samsung's phone
Also i think the s10e should be mentioned as the very cool attempt at making a compact phone
Again, it's just my opinion
s10, s10+. the 3 camera setup. base model jump from 64gb to 128gb. still had 3.5mm jack and micro SD card. good decrease of the bezel
The most I remember about the S10 were the wallpapers that made use of the pill shape camera cut out of the S10+. The bender one was brilliant. Lol
I did own the phone though. Was it the first one with an under display fingerprint sensor?
Yessss my hubby just traded his in the end of 24 and got the s24 ultra.
S10 is peak smartphone. It just went down from there
The s8 for me it lasted me all the way up to 2024 before I dropped it out of a car window trying to take a photo
the small cute note 10 in the aura glow color, loved that phone, was hard to switch to a newer model
Im still using it hahahah its a quite strong phone but stopped getting updates a while ago thats sad
That's how I felt about the s10 prism white, it had a pearlescent sheen, not as much as the aura glow, but I loved that color
S10+ Prism Blue/Prism Green
Prism blue S10+ here and still working great!
Nice! I miss mine. Got an S25+ in navy now. If the S10+ had 120Hz and and 45W support, I would never upgrade. Such a beauty it was 🥺
From the back, the s21 non ultras, from the front the s10 series
right gold + purple combo was awesome
S10 series truly look amazing from the front
Orchid gray s8 goes crazy 😤
Anything S10 Series
Hi, I'm currently on a samsung s24 (exynos) it's a good phone but I hate the cameras and I'm looking for an upgrade. I want the best of the best phone top notch, amazing cameras, speakers, gaming performance ect (mainly cameras lol) and pls be fully blunt and honest no sugarcoating or any bs, ik most phones are expensive (which i don't mind is can afford it) but once I buy it there's no going back, so pls tell me which phone is best and what are the pros and cons?
If u have time to answer I'd appreciate it thank u
Oneplus 13 (versatility and support) or Oppo Find x8 pro (photo)
Nubia Z70 ultra with notch-free screen and bump-free rear cameras, beautiful design.
It would be in these 3 that I would choose imo
Vivo x200 pro
Oppo Find X8 pro
Oneplus 13 cam is behind the other two but still way ahead of Samsung and Apple this year.
Here's why:
All for ~$200 brand new! If it could record in 4K at the front camera with the aforementioned specs (and maybe an IP rating), it would genuinely be one of the perfect smartphones altogether.
agree, seems great, but dont really like the design, the black lines around the screens, i dont understand why samsung keeps doing that
A34 with the more powerful Dimensity 1080 and 6gb ram has random ui stutters and lag spikes.
Exynos 1280 is worse, so it doesnt matter how good its specs are, if the chipset isnt good enough/lagging.
This is unfortunately the case with cheaper Samsung devices these days.
So does the 2100 in the S21FE.
I agree that cheaper Samsung phones in the past could be slow, but they were usable that's true. Even the lowest ones.
Believe me it's the same with E2100. Samsung's software optimization is a complete joke 💀
Then get the s10 or note 10. Both phones are 5 years old now but the SD 855 is still better than any of the processors that are in the budget/mid range phones. Not to mention they're dirt cheap.
€299 is the starting price of the A25 here.
Motorola G84 is €245 with 256gb and 12gb of RAM, faster charging and a brick in box.
But Samsung has a side mounted scanner, I prefer that though.
So it depends how good the A25 is based on where you live, A54 dropped here to €359 a while ago.
All the Motorolas I've owned, up until this year, have awful updates and their QC is pretty bad.
The microphone on them is always faulty somehow and the display might be sometimes very dim and weak.
I used to love them, but Samsung midrangers won me over.
Updates aside (that is true, it is bad)
I have never heard people I know in EU have issues with Motorola phones.
The ones I know from the US however complain all the time, so maybe it's the US carriers or US Motorola being different.
Iunno mate, i feel like making the black outline smaller wouldnt cost them that much money and at least it wouldnt be ugly, i got 4 year old galaxy a 40 and the phone has smaller black outline than that (iunno how to call the black lines around the screen, mb) just venting my frustration cause i find these new samsung middle price range phones really ugly
The ultimate budget samsung phone is a two year old renewed flagship phone.
Don't tell me you talking about the stupid a52s? That's old already and all ya just hating in Samsung chips that's all. Or can't afford a new Samsung phone.
A flagship is never the best option, not even new.
That's why midrangers are capped or outright not sold in the US.
Hi everyone. I currently use iPhone SE 2020 which I purchased at the end of 2020. I want to switch to Samsung because I heard good things about the camera. My phone requirements aren’t very high. I just want good camera and good battery life. I also don’t want to switch phones in next 2-3 years. Which phone should I get? I think the z flip phones look so cute but are they good? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you
If you already like the Z Flip 5 and have the budget for it, I dont see a better device out there for you. You would definitely love the phone as is and Im sure you wouldnt have to change in the next 2-3 years. Im sure itll go for way more years obviously according to how you maintain it.
S23 (basic flagship of this year)
S23 Ultra (if you want 30X zoom, 100X zoom, and s-pen) (my personal phone)
A24 or A54 (budget phone of this year)
Z flip 5 (if you need something extremely compact) if your preorder, you may get a decent preorder bonus)
I love my S23 ultra, but thats like THEE top of the line right now.
literally had a customer with their z Flip 3, talking about their screen peeling after the 2nd month. but I can't personally say anything about the flip 4 or the upcoming flip 5
Base s23 has 30x zoom
As a flip owner/lover, if camera and battery life are your main wants, then skip the flip. If you're not a power user, not a photographer, and want a gorgeous compact phone, then the flip is for you
Get the S23 base model. 256 GB for UFS 4.0
People really buy phones for cameras when they can just spend a quarter of that on a camera that blows phone cams out the water.
Maybe some of us can’t afford to have both ?
