Been using itubego but lately it won't let me download youtube videos anymore! I've been going back and forth with support but am considering switching..I don't mind paying...any suggestions would be appreciated

There are also cracks for older versions of it so you can use it without restrictions, which is what I use. I'm not sure what updates I'm missing out on being like 10 versions behind, but the UI is practically identical to the latest builds and functionally I can find no difference between the two. I love that you can download entire channels with it in one click, I've already backed up a couple channels that have been inactive for like 10 years with it.

yt-dlp. The answer is always yt-dlp. Be aware that it is a command-line program, but it can be learned and used for basic functions in less than a day, even if you've never used a command-lime program befofe (speaking from personal experience here). There are, however, several graphical front-ends for it if you do need one.

I have tried my best to find the answer by browsing reddit but the posts are either old or many of the links are scams. Does anyone have a software (reliable and virus free) that has the capacity to download YouTube videos in 1080p? I have a windows laptop, just to add. You can download 100 YouTube videos in five minutes or seven minutes. All you need to do is make of a list of YouTube links

how to use jdownloader2? When i used it it only downloads the file as a chrome webpage html file. It cannot scrub the website for the particular video link and it is hard to use. I deleted it after exploring it for a few hours. Is there any easier to use alternative or any tips?

Windows 10 Asus laptop here.

Does there exist any free software for downloading YouTube videos without strings attached anymore?

I'm trying to download about 20 different long videos from a course I recently completed to have them on my hard drive so I can go back to them.

I want to download them in their highest quality which is like 1080p, but every YouTube Downloader I try has so many strings attached. 1 free download, free downloads up to 480p, etc.

I used to be able to use a simple site called YouTube Downloader and get as many downloads in great quality as I liked, but now there are dozens of softwares that have paywalled this in various ways.

I'm on Mac.

Any advice?

Recently I have had issues where jdownloader is not able to retrieve the download link for 4k videos (not even a lower quality version), but antoher tool (4k downloader) can. Not sure why since this wasn't an issue earlier.

I think it has been superseded by yt-dlp. @op both are free open source command line tools and highly recommended. For everyone else, for windows, IDM (although proprietary, but no subscription) is highly recommended.

This comment here explains how to use that feature of VLC:

I will copy-paste the reply in case you can't access that thread anymore for some reason:

"Open VLC and hit Media > Open Network Stream and then paste in the URL to the youtube video. After it loads, hit Tools > Codec Info and copy the entire location url at the bottom of the window. Paste that URL into a web browser and the video will play. Right click video, choose Save As."

Copy youtube url

Click VLC/Tools/Media Information
Copy "Location" at the bottom (the direct URL)

There's a way to do it using VLC. It's a bit clunky, but it works.

Copy youtube url
Open VLC/Open Network Stream and paste url
Click VLC/Tools/Media Information
Copy "Location" at the bottom (the direct URL)
Open the direct URL in a browser
right click, save video (or page)

yt-dlp is a good one, though it’s a command-line program. You can download yt-dlp.exe under Releases and use a command like yt-dlp.exe <link to video> to download videos.

This. No need to download any software to get a YouTube video. Just insert "pp" after the word "youtube" in the link to download videos. Been downloading YouTube videos like this for months, and in HD, too.

I highly recommend yt-dlp over youtube-dl right now. I tried youtube-dl but got crawling download speeds of around 70 KB/s. According to Github forums this is a common issue.

Hello, I’m trying to download a lot of YouTube videos in huge playlist. I have a really fast internet (5gbit/s), but the softwares that I tried (4K video downloaded and Open Video Downloader) are slow, like 3 MB/s for 4k video download and 1MB/s for Oen video downloader. I founded some online websites with a lot of stupid ads, like https://x2download.app/ , that download at a really fast speed, but they aren’t good for download more than few videos at once. What do you use? I have both windows, Linux and Mac.
