Military Surplus Stores
Military surplus stores are frequently recommended for purchasing combat boots. They often carry a wide selection of authentic military gear, including boots, and can be found both locally and online. These stores are praised for their variety and the opportunity to find other tactical gear [1:1],
[2:3],
[3:1],
[5:3].
Online Retailers
For those who prefer shopping online, platforms like Amazon and eBay are popular choices. Amazon carries most major brands and offers convenience [2:6],
[2:8]. eBay is noted for having a range of options, including vintage and international military boots, though it may require some patience to find the right pair
[5:2],
[5:4],
[5:6].
Specialty Boot Brands
Several specialty boot brands were mentioned as good options for quality combat boots. Dr. Martens is a popular choice for stylish combat-style boots that are comfortable and durable [1:1],
[1:2]. Red Wing is another brand known for its high-quality boots, although they may not be specifically military style
[2:2],
[4:3].
Local Stores and Chains
In addition to surplus and online options, local stores and chains such as Dick's Sporting Goods or Academy Sports + Outdoors might have combat boots available, although their selection may vary [2]. For those in specific areas, local recommendations such as Rockin Tees or Tasweld in Hobart offer alternatives for finding boots in-store
[3:3],
[4:1].
Budget Considerations
Finding new combat boots under $100 can be challenging, with many users suggesting starting at a higher price point for decent quality [5:5]. Military surplus stores and platforms like eBay might offer more budget-friendly options, especially if you're open to used boots

Is hot topic a good place to buy some? if it helps i'm a teenager
I mean, are you looking for combat boots or just stylish boots? If there's a military surplus store in your area, you might want to check there. If you're looking for big stompy goth boots, check out Demonia or New Rocks. I'd suggest T.U.K. footwear, I have heard good things about them. Dr Martens is another option, I have a pair I'm happy with. ( r/DrMartens )
Just make sure to check the size you need so you don't order the wrong thing. Hope this helps.
I second r/DrMartens, too. I have two different pairs and I absolutely love them. They tend to run bigger, but all in all, super comfortable and durable. The casual combat boots have become my best pair of work shoes and I'd be lying if I said they don't make me feel like a bad bitch in them. Best of luck in your search!
I'm probably biased but I have four pairs of Dr martens too. Can't beat the jadons and 1460s. I have red. Black and shiny gray.
Hello all, sorry if this is OOT. I'm visiting the US and would like to purchase a pair of combat boots. Where would be a good place to shop for them? Preferably somewhere with a varied selection. Dick's Sporting Goods? Academy? Or one of those Army surplus stores? I'm in the Houston area if that helps.
The choices where I come from are very limited, so I can't wait to be blessed by the 1001 options here. Thanks guys.
The PX
Are civilians/non-US military personnel allowed to shop at the PX?
if you're not military; go to Red Wing. They make great boots.
Is this for fashion?
Shit lol I didn’t read the rest of the caption. Your best bet are surplus stores or Amazon
Surplus store should have plenty, and bonus you can look for other tacticool stuff there too.
The field jacket liner is the best if you ever have to deal with cold weather. Though, I don't think that's a huge issue for Singapore?
Amazon also carries most major brands.
I think I bought mine from Amazon, that or Rocky's website.
Sir, this is a Wendy's
But it’s the Wendy’s basement. Plot twist, machine gun beatings are free with every pair of boots purchased.
The answer is in your caption
I'm tired of my work boots always waring down and hurting my feet, where can I go and get a pair of decent combat boots in store?
Military Surplus stores would be your best bet. Keep in mind they don’t have a steel toe or shank and are not a substitute for PPE.
That's what I was thinking but the closest ones in Oakville and I dont have a car
You can order online. Army Surplus World is one of the biggest military surplus online stores. They have everything
I got some MkII's or III's (maybe IV's even, I forget) from MTL Armory online and they are CSA certified! The green triangle + steel toe. They're awesome.
Those are likely lineman boots
Rockin Tees on King Street might have some cool ones. They have every Doc Marten known to mankind but also a lot of military surplus.
Great idea!
That was my first thought, too.
Get yourself a pair of recraftable Danners if you want ultimate comfort and durability. A lot of “combat boots”, especially the older ones in surplus stores, are neither particularly comfortable or durable.
I’m a big fan of the Kinetic GTX side-zip because they’re sooo comfortable, but something like the Acadia or Fort Lewis will be more durable, albeit with more “break in” time due to the stiffer soles.
Unless you're talking about modern day Lowa Or Solomon boots , you're going to severely regret this.
I'd say, stop buying work boots from Mark's. To me it seems like all they have is Dakota's and Helly Hansen.. Few years ago I blew mine out late in the work day. Made it through the day but by the time I got home Mark's was my only choice. $300ish and they didn't even last 4 months.
Now I live in town and have more choices and the first one is Lawlor. I know quite a few guys that wear the Timberland Pro Gridirons and day they are comfy. Give then a try. Also some of.the Timberlands have a 30 day COMFORT guarantee.
Something I was told long ago spent the money on boots/ shoes and the bed. Cause you'll be in then the most.
I'm looking to buy some new boots. Something similar to my Wellco T114's, which are too damaged to resole. Specifically, im looking for a military style "combat" or "tactical" boot. Apart from AllGoods, there doesn't seem to be any local shops that stock this kind of thing, but I'm hoping that someone here can point me in the right direction. The pair I'm wearing now I picked up from a tip-shop to use as spare boots when camping, but they've been amazing, so I'd like to replace them.
Mongrels (high leg zip) from Tradewear (135 Elizabeth)…might not be high enough?
It's the zip I don't like. Cheers though
I have a pair of redwing 2408 supersoles that I use for work, and they have been great i do on average 16k + steps a day in them amd going on a year and there holding up they have a store around Burnley St in Melbourne
Allgoods is the only place I've seen really. Although you could also try Recycled recreation on Elizabeth St, who does 2nd hand outdoor stuff.
Just popped in there. They have some good kit, but nothing for me today.
Rsea?
Nothing quite right unfortunately
Tasweld in Derwent Park do lots of boots they might be able to do a special order for you.
This might be an impossible question honestly but I'm just looking for plain black military combat boots that aren't like $100. I know I could get them used but is there anywhere that sells them new?
eBay , military surplus. 20 yrs ago these were cheap and everywhere. In NY we had vintage military surplus shops that sold those Navy Peacoats that were cheap and super popular, with the pop collar.
Military surplus store, either find one near you or there’s several online.
eBay is the answer
This. eBay has them if you keep up searching for a while. I’ve ordered French and Italian combat boots. Austrian ones are there frequently. Also look at Varusteleka.
Finding new boots for $100 of any decent quality is a unicorn. For decent boots you should probably start at $200.
Try Etsy. But I don’t think you could find resoleable combat boots for under $100. I don’t know if any resoleable boot costing less than $100.
I work at a guard base and the closest base exchange with a clothing section is a 4 hour drive away.
If you're in the guard, you should be able to shop on the exchange's online store.
What are your uniform regs permitting?
Your guard unit doesn’t provide you with uniforms?
You could just go to the website of the boot. Otherwise, govx, tacticaldistributors.com, and maybe lapolicegear.
Thanks for the suggestion.
I'm looking for affordable trench boots/low boots for everyday wear. What are the best sites? Thank you.
For everyday wear, just get modern boots.
I'm looking for modern boots that have a trench boot look if I'm being more specific.
Redwing Iron Rangers are close. No buckles up top.
So specifically you're looking for replicas of the World War II US Army double buckle boots?
These look like the postwar french boots but I'm guessing that's what OP is looking for
I'm not wearing my glasses and I just noticed some details that definitely shouldn't be on the GI boots. But these also look different than the French army boots that I wore in the 1980s.
OP probably should have specified what affordable means, because that means different things to different people. I used to buy the French combat boots for $10 a pair but the last ones I bought were maybe 15 years ago. New replica boots for reenactment are probably going to be in the $150 range for a halfway decent quality as opposed to cheaper versions that will fall apart in 6 months. Then of course Street use versus reenactment use can also tear boots up
Without the buckles, I thought they were gaiters. And not the exact model pictured specifically, it was just an example.
Well then why not use German marching boots or jungle boots from Vietnam for your example?
Qmi has a good pair of m1943 Buckle boots for sale
These aren’t trench boots
What size? I have a pair of the postwar French rangers in size 41 for sale.
Hmm I am a size 41. Can you dm me the price and photos?
where can one get aquire combat boots that are affordable and not made by sweatshops 😭 (UK)
vinted, just look for boots in the search bar and your algorithm wil adapt and start showing you great boots for great prices i just picked up a pair of brand new doc martens for 70 euro cuz the reseller said they were too big for them. came in perfect condition still gassed about them
Check out Steel boots (they’re a brand) and also look on Depop/Vinted
usually they're easy to find in secondhand stores, especially the fashion-oriented ones.
damm ig ill have to scross endlessly on ebay then 😔💔
i feel you. I'm still looking for the perfect denim jacket, the perfect leather jacket, the perfect winter boots . . .
Military surplus shops, sometimes thrift stores. On secondhand websites (eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, Depop, Vinted, etc), you can sometimes find brand-name boots for under retail. It's worth checking numerous such sites and periodically in case a new listing of a pair you'd like of an ideal price or look shows up on any of them. Quality brands of fashion combat boots (few may be mid-tier) can be such as Angry Itch, Gripfast, Grinders, Nevermind, NPS, Solovair, Steel Ground, Underground UK, Thursday Boots Co, Jim Green's, Nick's, Red Wing, etc.

For military style boots, probably Bates or ($$) Crispi.
For a good, tall boot that might work for what you need, probably Jim Green AR8's or ($) African Troopers. Danner Quarries or Rainforest at a discount, and both come in versions with waterproof membranes IIRC. Carolina, Red Wing, Georgia could work.
I wouldn't recommend a logger boot for what you do unless you can let them dry out and wear every 3 days or so (although that's kinda true of all boots) but Frank's Patriots or Drew's import models (for larger volume feet) are great.
Look at Jim Green boots.
They are a robust boot that will last more than a year.
I've worn my custom Baobab boots for around 6 months and they are hardly even broken in.
I'd steer you toward the AR8 if you are seeking a combat type boot.
lowa is really good. Nicks has a tactical boot. Those two in my opinion are the best you will find.
Have a look at the Jim Green AR8! Mate, the AR8 is great, I would rate 8/8.
Beware of the Salomon Forces line; quality and longevity seems to be hit or miss.
Another brand not mentioned here is Aku. Love my Pilgrims, and they’re issued to the UK forces.

Got these from Woodland more than 8 years ago. They're expensive, upwards of 7k, but superb in quality and also have a 2 inches heel. A bit on the heavy side due to genuine leather and trims but look so rad and comfortable. I'd recommend you invest well in good quality shoes once and they'll serve you loyally for years to come.
I have a friend who loves combat boots and used to get it from woodland. She actually has pretty dainty feet but says she could find men's in her size. So i imagine for larger feet it should be ok? No clue on the price though.
