TL;DR
Volvo S80
The 2010 Volvo S80 is often highlighted as a classic model with enduring appeal. Owners appreciate its timeless design, which still looks good compared to newer models [4:1]
[4:2]. It's described as "peak Volvo," suggesting that it embodies the brand's core values and quality
[4:3]. Some users mention transitioning to the S90 in the future but still hold the S80 in high regard
[4:6].
Volvo S60
The S60 is another favorite among Volvo enthusiasts. Its styling is particularly appreciated, and it's unfortunate that sedans like this are becoming less common [5]. The S60 T8 Black Edition, with its powerful engine and Polestar tune, offers a thrilling driving experience
[5:4]. Users express regret that more diverse engine options, such as the I5 or I6, aren't available, which could have made the car even more appealing
[5:6].
Volvo S90
The S90 is noted for its blend of technology and luxury, making it a hit among both younger and older drivers [5:2]. While some users wish for more powerful engine options, the T8 Recharge with 455hp is recognized as a great powertrain option
[5:8]. The S90 receives frequent compliments for its aesthetics and driving experience
[5:12].
Engine Options and Performance
Many users express a desire for Volvo to offer more powerful engines in their sedans. The legendary 5-cylinder diesels and potential inline 6 options are mentioned as desirable features that could have enhanced the appeal of these vehicles [5:5]
[5:7]. Despite this, current models like the T8 Recharge still provide impressive performance
[5:10].
Overall, the Volvo S60, S80, and S90 each offer unique attributes that cater to different preferences, whether it's classic design, modern technology, or robust performance.
Before I tell the story I know that a best friend can have a different best friend.
So I was in class today and we had to analyze a reading and the title of the read was "The best friend question" so he says am I your best friend? I say, "yeah," and he says, "really?" To try to save myself from embarrassment, I say I have multiple best friends which was sort of a lie. Then I asked him if I was his best friend he gives me the so-so hand gesture. I felt awkward for a couple mins but we just went back to our normal selves.
I know friends can have other best friends and I need to remind myself that. It just kind of hurts a little when that person doesn't find your friendship as important as you do if you know what I mean.
Yeah that does hurt man. Try not to let it get to you and just keep living your life <3
Okay, which one of you gave Subaru internet access?
Bro saw someone glaze Emilia and decided to try to make it to Broad level
Nahhh broad would write a 3 page essay
Sis telling the truth🤍💜
Emilia: hm. Arigato. Subaru always say it as well. Hes reeeeeally a good boy.

Damn right Drive My Car is the best Oscar film of 2021
And at 30 years old, it will be just as beautiful, it all depends on the eyes that look at it.
I know it sounds very romantic, but it's......volvo.
Looks better than the current gen imo
way better, this is a true Volvo.
How are these Ford era true Volvos? They said the same thing about rwd bricks and P2 era cars. We're going to hear the same about the SPA cars soon surely
I think the design grows on you after awhile. Don't mind switching to the S90 in a few years time.
Not for me.. I won't go over P3s.. I'll that's a CT6 over a s90 anyday
Aren't you also relatively active on r/kereta?
The P3 S80 is literally on my next list of cars to get, alongside the 2015 V40 T5
Thanks! Just got it last year. The previous owner did a meticulous job at maintaining it, will continue on with what he did.
Its a beauty, best of luck
I see BHPetrol, I see Malaysian!
My favourite moment was, every week will stop at BHP Pagoh fill up my V40...
That's become a must. 😅
Peak Volvo. I have a 2010 XC70 and I love it
There isn’t enough tech to satisfy younger consumers and there is too much tech to satisfy older consumers
This car is peak millennial… but was never marketed to them
The number of people that get in my XC90 or S90 and exclaim how awesome these cars are is wild…
I never don't get compliments. The first time anyone rides in it.
Imagine if they put more desirable engines in. Maybe could have sold more. Like a 5 cylinder, or inline 6 or keep the twin charged T6 around.
An s90 v8 would have gotten me to the dealer immediately. I wouldn't have cared if they put it in exactly as it was in the s80 and made the same hp as the upper trim 4 cylinder replacements.
Exactly you had such a big front end too. You can’t tell me they couldn’t fit it. Such a waste.
Honestly an I5 or I6 would be amazing but also kinda frightening in my s60 t8 black edition, it's got a lot of jam already and especially with the polestar tune, but I wouldn't say no.
This SPA-generation with their legendary 5-cylinder diesels would've been absolute dream.
If only they still kept an option with these engines available…
They’d be that special cherry on the top for the enthusiast.
The T8 recharge with 455hp is a great power train option
Just bought one and can agree, it shocks you when you floor it
Just got this a few months ago. Love it.
Absolutely obsessed with mine. Volvo for life.
I have owned many cars over the years but I have to say after almost 1.5 months with this Volvo it’s the most satisfying car purchase I ever made. Everything just works as I want it to. It’s got a great ride, comfortable interior, superb styling, just enough tech but not totally overbearing, and it’s priced just right so as not to feel totally out of reach.
It’s a damn shame they did not sell more because I’m hooked. For reference these are the previous cars I owned over various years:
2002 Honda accord 2006 bmw 330xi 2012 Honda accord 2012 Audi A4 wagon 2019 Toyota Camry XLE 1992 Volvo 240 1992 Saab 900 convertible
Why are Americans so obsessed with SUVs ? This sedan is the perfect balance of comfort, luxury, sportiness, and technology. Oh and of course safety. Just perfection!
I covet the S60. Our neighbours have one. I have the XC60, which I also love, but our lifestyle isn't ready for the S60. Once the kids are gone ... all bets are off!
I mean To your question about why Americans are obsessed with SUVs. There’s some logic behind it. 1. Insurance is far cheaper on a SUV for younger drivers 16-25 age group especially that the upfront costs of a SUV offsets the insurance difference for a sedan. 2. Have you seen how many trucks there are in the US. Imagine if there was an accident with let’s say a Dodge Ram 1500 and a let’s say Chevy Tahoe they are similar in size making it a “safer” accident for both parties, however imagine the same dodge ram 1500 gets into an accident with a Sedan like your Volvo s60 you can imagine how devastating that would be considering the ram is 2x the height of your sedan (granted Volvos are extremely safe but still don’t eliminate such accidents and risks). However I have to agree sedans do look beautiful Volvos continue to make stunning vehicles not just their sedans but their whole lineup. I own a 2020 XC40 T4 momentum and I am loving it. I hope my answer to your question was sufficient and I wish you many accident free journeys :)
There's something else too that I realized after finally making it to Europe. Europeans love to blame us for SUVs.
1% of our roads, maybe, are too small for SUVs. The majority of Europeans living in bigger cities.... couldn't daily a vehicle that big.
They didn't widen 2,000 year old streets.
As to safety.... I'm pretty confident in my sedan.
This was a wagon .. but look at this:
The emergency braking system kicked in when the first SUV crashed, stopping the Volvo just short. The second SUV hit the Volvo with enough force to push it into the front car like that. 3 passengers in the car. No injuries and look how every door opened.
Volvo for life.
Safety is why I bought a volvo, and it's stories like this that sealed the deal. Honestly, I don't care what volvo does to their lineup and designs, as long as they stay safe and reliable, then they have me as a customer for life. I hate the touch screen/tesla styling that most companies are going to...but I hate Volvos the least.
I agree I used to live in the UK and drove a box truck style van which was huge for the UK roads, I delivered to hundreds of places within London and I can say with full confidence I would never buy an SUV if I lived in London. But moving to the US the culture shock of massive cars trucks and SUVs wore off quickly as by the first week it was as if I knew this fact since the day I was born. Bought a Volvo XC40 2020 T4 Momentum with 11k miles and I am so far extremely happy with my purchase and feel at ease while driving knowing the safety of all Volvo cars.
I find America’s obsession with SUVs to be the least concerning of our toxic traits, personally. Beautiful car. Love those wheels. Denim blue has really grown on me over the last few years too.
The S60 was truly not discontinued because of low sale volumes. This is the nonsense story that Volvo puts out all those for the S60 were not as high as the SUVs it always outperformed the S90 and the wagons. This has nothing to do with the sedan or the S60 It has to do with Volvo, wanting to be an all electric car company and making room to build electric SUVs such as the monstrosity nightmare EX90 that cost 80+ thousand dollar! that dealerships have had to buy back from customers because they are riddled with electrical gremlins. I recently went to the Volvo dealership for service and the sales girl that sold me. My car told me that Volvo should just crush and squash the EX90 and forget that they ever made that car and I refuse to sell it because it’s an absolute nightmare and I can’t go to bed at night knowing I’m gonna put somebody in a vehicle like that.
No, because I live in New Zealand, near a bunch of huge lakes, rivers and mountains. America doesn't come into it at all. We need room for the paddle boards, skis, coolers, and other gear. We need a very safe car because the roads here can be tricky. We have an XC60, not a 90, and the XC60 isn't massive at all. Yes I do like the way it looks (and drives), but it is also extremely practical here in NZ. Nothing to do with the US.
Is it a plug-in hybrid or you just got the plug-in wheels?
Wagon/Estate. Enough said
I was going to say those are T8 wheels on a B5!
I had a 2019 S60 and loved it, only traded it when I was ready to go to an EV (BMW i5). I still get sentimental when I see an S60 on the road -- although I am now also very happy with my i5.
This is my C30 D2. We’ve had it for only a year and a half, but with so many great drives it feels like it’s been with us for years. My all-time favorite since the first moment I saw it. At first, it didn’t appeal to me in the ad photos because of the interior colors, but I decided to go see it anyway because of the good equipment, the engine with (relatively) low mileage, and the 6-speed gearbox. Once I saw it in person, the story changed, and I didn’t want any other car despite the steering issue. In my eyes, there’s no better car (even though I’ve driven all sorts of things). What do you think about this interesting combination?
I have a similarly equipped 2011, may I ask what color is your dashboard? Mine seems kind of brown? Wasnt sure if it was due to the last owner being a smoker or if it originally came in that hue. Cheers!
Its brown, think thats original too, no smell of smoke inside, just leather haha..and feels much brighter than most interiors ive been
OK, that off-white interior w/ the red seats is fire. Got me thinking I need to do an interior swap on mine!
I did so many research and couldnt find anything similar to help you...i even cant find any code for equipment or colors...maybe dealership could help..i only know its imported from sweden to croatia in 2017, god bless first owner with great taste ahaha
Looks great with the exterior color. Wrapped the seats with leather?
Just sock leather seats
Those red seats are sweet
Thanks
Could have sworn I saw you last week somewhere near the coast.
Only if its Adriatic coastline haha
Somewhere between Split and Rijeka? ;D
It’s 3 years old in January but thank you. Likely my last Volvo for a while sadly as I’m not a fan of the SUVs and the ES90 will be above company budget.
If we had this with a V8 it would be THE luxury car in my opinion.
Gotta get a P3 S80 V8, and you are 80% there.
Yes, however sadly they didnt make the facelift model (including just the interior facelift) with the v8, and the s90 looks far better
You say that to all the Volvos! 🤣🤣🤣
Volvo c30 is vile
I know it's a limousine but I prefer the proportions of S60 much more (same for V60).
Came to say this. S60 > S90
As an S60 owner that now needs two car seats in the back I wish there was an S75 :(
What do you mean, is the S60 bigger than the S90? Sorry if I’m mistaken I just always thought it was the opposite
Mine in the showroom on pick up
yup, screams luxury
Just traded my 5 year old Outback in for this beauty. I’m completely in love with this car. It drives excellently, it’s so isolated and calm inside, and I love the looks and how practical it is. To me it’s like a luxury car disguised as a practical family wagon. I also love how rare they are, though living in central NJ I actually do see these with some frequency.
I am thinking about making this exact change. I adore my 2020 Outback, but I am ready for change. I am happy to hear your positive experience.
V90 cc is way to go. We love ours
more a ship than a car
Tough looking wagon! Love the black. Good buy.
It’s a 2003 v70 D5 2.4L turbo diesel manual. It’s such a great car, it drives amazing and the service history it came with is incredible.
Enjoy that car man! It's a nice color too. Are you gonna do road trips with it? It's made for doing that.
I am indeed, I have a trip planned down to wales in August! Yeah it’s a lovely colour, I for some reason wanted one in white but I’m glad I’ve got it in this colour.
My Volvo 850 is also in this red. White would've been nice too, but I feel this is easier to keep clean, and looks just as good
Ah, the D5 is such a masterpiece of an engine! I absolutely love mine. With regular maintenance it will probably outlast you. Enjoy every single mile of driving it!
I will indeed! I’m going to be looking after this
There is one important thing to remember, which if you haven't already, check it right away, is the accessory belt. When it gets old and loose it wants to wedge itself underneath the timing belt and consequently make it slip. That is about the only thing that will reliably kill your engine. Check the accessory belt for cracks. Look in the service history if the accessory belt was swapped together with the timing belt (I'd call the garage if it's unclear). If it's more than seven years ago, then I'd change the belt no matter what. While you're at it, I'd feel if the tensioner is springing back nice and strong (it should be quite a bit of resistance). If it's not, change that as well.
Oh that color looks great on a S60
That’s very nice
That’s the thing about Volvos I noticed. The older they get the better they look. Each model to me is timeless looking.
