TL;DR
Sound Quality
When it comes to sound quality, the Sonos Roam is highly recommended for its clean detail and separation. It stands out among other brands like Anker, JBL, Sony, B&O, and Bose [1:2]. The Bose SoundLink Flex also offers rich audio and rugged build, though it is pricier
[3:1].
Durability and Portability
For those looking for durability and portability, the JBL Flip 5 is noted for being a perfect all-rounder with solid battery life [3:1]. The Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM 3 is super portable, floats in water, and provides fun 360° sound, making it ideal for casual use
[3:1]. The Tribit Stormbox Micro is another option mentioned for its portability
[4:3].
Waterproofing
The JBL Charge 5 and Ultimate Ears MEGABOOM 3 are both highlighted for their waterproof features, making them great choices for boat use [3:3]. For shower use, the Bose Soundflex is recommended for its waterproof capability and strong bass
[4:1].
Budget-Friendly Options
For those on a budget, the Soundcore Motion Boom Plus offers good sound quality at an affordable price [5:2]. The Treblab speaker is another cost-effective option praised for its battery life and connection range
[2:1]. Additionally, the Anker Soundcore lineup is known for being budget-friendly while maintaining decent sound quality
[3:7].
Additional Considerations
If you need a speaker that can be easily carried for outdoor activities or small gatherings, consider the Wonderboom series or the Soundcore Motion Boom Plus, which are both lightweight and portable [5:3]
[5:6]. If your budget allows, exploring options from Target might be beneficial due to potential discounts
[5:7].
Hello everyone, I just moved to a lake and I wanted to get a good Bluetooth speaker that is waterproof that I can take on my boat. I want one that has the best sound quality. Please if you have any recommendations let me know. Thank you in advance!
Sonos hands down. They have a lot of options but even the roam is impressive. I went through a phase of testing portable speakers last year and tried options from Anker, JBL, Sony, B&O, Bose, probably some I’m forgetting. Nothing is cleaner with better detail or separation than Sonos. JBL is probably a better party speaker with more bass and a V shaped response curve which may make more sense for a boat but if you’re looking for fidelity in a form factor where that’s hard to find Sonos can’t be beat.
Try jbl
If you want a cheaper loud party speaker W -king d-9 . Its 60 watts rms and waterproof but not submergable . Its about $80 now . Nfc , 3.5 aux , micro Sd , Bluetooth 5.0 . Weights about 6 pounds . I got one before Christmas, I love it .

My friend recommended I tried the Treblab speaker and for the money it cost I have been seriously impressed. Has really good battery life, the distance I can be away from the speaker before it loses connection is excellent and of course the fact it's waterpoor is a life saver for when I'm on boat. A great product and glad I tried it when I did.

Repost bots can't own boats
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bluetooth_Speakers/comments/10g8o5k/best_waterproof_bluetooth_speaker/
The last few days I've been looking for a bluetooth speaker so I thought I'd check this sub. It's baaad man. I learned real quick not to trust any of the reviews or recommendations. Seems like it's all shills and bots.
For top sound quality and waterproofing, check out the JBL Charge 5 or the Ultimate Ears MEGABOOM 3, both are great for boats.
Are you serious? Talking about top sound quality with the Charge and the Megaboom is completely silly. I've heard both compared to my $70 Soundcore Motion Boom and they were inferior in all aspects: sound quality, maximum volume, bass response. In favor of the Charge is that it sounds decent for its compact size and that some people think JBL is cool. There is absolutely nothing to be said for the Megaboom. You can hardly buy anything worse for your money.
Seriously though soundcore is awesome especially with the price point. I had the the boost for awhile then upgraded to a motion plus until that broke on me but it had quite a few bad drops, still lasted me about 2 years. I'm actually looking to buy a new one soon probably gonna get another soundcore.
I'll second the UE 3rd generation. You can get them at some pretty great prices.
megapokpok is just upper bass not even an bass from tribit micro 2
Tribit Stormbox Flow is a good option.
This was a post from four months ago. Now the is a "pretty boy" contender: Anker Soundcore Boom 3i
JBL Boombox 3
JBL Boombox 3 ***** !!!
Great list you’ve already put together. I’ve actually tried a few of these myself during hiking trips, beach days, and backyard hangouts, so I thought I’d chime in with some real-world impressions.
JBL Flip 5 – Durable, great sound, and solid battery life. Perfect all-rounder.
WONDERBOOM 3 – Super portable, floats in water, and has fun 360° sound. Not super bass-heavy but great for casual use.
Bose SoundLink Flex – Best sound quality out of the bunch. Rich audio, rugged build, but a bit pricier.
Sony SRS-XB33 – Loud with deep bass and cool lights. Great for parties and camping.
Soundcore Flare 2 – Budget-friendly, decent sound, and waterproof. Solid value for casual use.
If I had to choose, I’d go with the SoundLink Flex for sound, or Flip 5/WONDERBOOM 3 for balance of size and performance.
Also, I actually just put together a full blog post that dives into most of these and a few other options, including pros/cons, who each one is best for, and how they compare. If you're interested, feel free to check it out:

Happy to answer any follow-up questions too.
I like to play music in the shower and I also like bass but my JBL go 2 isn't holding up for that much. Any recommendations?
sony ult field1
has no bass
He seems to want a small speaker. The ult 1 has much more bass than the go 2.
Tribit storm box micro
Bose Soundflex is completely waterproof and the bass should melt your face off in the shower.
Sounds good but do you have a recommendation for something cheaper? Like under 100
Any suggestions?
Budget?
Looking to spend under 200, would love to be able to buy from target as I have a discount but idc really. Just need one that is portable enough to put it in a backpack and walk with for long hikes and be able to set it up outside for small patio parties.
I 2nd u/Exercise-Party's recommendation of the Soundcore Motion Boom +. It gets pretty loud and only weighs 5lb. Also comes with a strap.
i have the original wonderboom (3 years old now) and it seems to fit your needs. sounds great, waterproof, loud for its size etc. they have newer ones u can find around $80-$100
the boom is the larger version, still portable n waterproof but gets louder. check out the whole portable UE line up.
Tribit stormbox blast is all of those but a little heavy. Anker motion boom + gets about as loud, doesn’t sound as good but is half the weight. Both are under $200
I’m looking for something that is portable-can go on walks with. And set down and hear from a decent distance at like enough for a pick up game of basketball or something. Right now I have the altek hydra boom.
Motion Boom. :) Or two of them. They only weigh half of Tribit Stormbox Blast, and then you will have stereo if you pick up two. I made an eq using Rtings measurements, that's better than everything else I've found online. Made it sound pretty decent.
Try the Simo X: I've had it for about half a year now and each speaker breaks out into 4 subunits for surround sound. Not sure about the waterproof part though.
If you are talking about IPX5 minimum, then the Soundboks 3 at 126db@1m
If you are talking about IPX7 minimum, then the JBL Boombox 3 at 111db@1m
I wouldn't normally recommend these speakers due to them having worse sound quality than other options, but these are by far the loudest including waterproofing.

Is the turtle box any good?
I know this thread is a bit old, but I wanted to chime in just in case you (or anyone else) is still looking for the loudest waterproof portable speakers. The Turtle Box is definitely a great choice. It's known for its powerful sound and durability with its IP67 waterproof rating. If you're after serious volume, it's tough to beat.
That said, there are some other strong contenders out there too, like the JBL PartyBox series, which packs a ton of power, and the Ultimate Ears MEGABOOM 3, which is compact, loud, and fully waterproof.
I also wrote a blog post specifically on the loudest Bluetooth speakers, so if you're still on the hunt, you might find it useful! It covers a bunch of options and compares the top performers in terms of loudness, sound quality, and waterproofing. Feel free to check it out for more insights!

Hope this helps, even if it’s a bit late! Let me know if you have any more questions.
u/Kwainsi have you had a chance to test the turtle box grande ? Is it worth it to grab one of those or two of the turtle box 3's. I'm looking for the loudest blue tooth speaker but also a longer battery life at full volume. I currently run two JBL BoomBox 3's and they're okay but at full volume I'm getting about 6 hours of playtime. I do long float trips on the river and provide the music for everyone so something loud (when were spread out) but something that also has long battery life is imperative. Money really isn't a problem as long as I'm getting the best. thank you again!
All speakers are ranked here with maximum volume measurements. Choose what makes sense for your price and size limitations https://www.reddit.com/r/Bluetooth_Speakers/comments/z8bs6o/ranking_all_battery_powered_bluetooth_speakers/
The Turtlebox is no bass screechy not loud crap, there's a sound sample of it sounding awful in a linked video. They measure the max volume incorrectly in their own video. It's only 50w after all.
Ok thanks
Jbl charge 5 hands down
Why?Want to disturb someone😂
Jbl charge is not completely water proof. I’m also looking for something with better water resistance. Maybe a cap for the plug ports and more gaskets around button board. We have 3 damaged from water at work. It’s the most reliable choice but we need something better. May end up having to make a speaker box with boat speakers.
Can anyone give me any products that are truly comparable. I’m looking for a nice portable waterproof/water resistant otdoor speaker.
Google sucks for this. I had the Jbl link …which was discontinued.
I hung an old original Google Home speaker in a wire basket tucked under the eave to protect it from the elements and it worked great last summer! Brought it inside for the winter, but hope to hang it again soon when the weather improves here.
If you can find one, Google chromecast audio.
I have one hooked to a small amp, sealed in an outdoor waterproof box on my patio.
Speaker wires run to yamaha outdoor speakers mounted on the wall outside. Works amazing.
Hard part is finding a Chromecast audio now.
The way I do it is with standard hardwired outdoor speakers plugged into a home theater amp with a Chromecast plugged into the HDMI.
I do this as well, but he specified wanting a portable speaker.
So, if you want it to be a full Google home experience, the. Yeah you need to find something fancy...
But if you are just wanting something that you can include in your speaker group, or cast to, etc.
You can use any waterproof Bluetooth speaker, and pair it to a cheap Google home mini. Leave the mini inside near the wall that you want the outside speaker by.
I found a post from 2 years ago with recommendations on Google Home Speaker Group supported outdoor speakers and quite a few I couldn't find anymore.
What are today's recommended outdoor speakers that can be part of a speaker group? I have an outdoor outlet on my backyard light and I could go wireless as well.
I plan to have music playing everywhere that is synced as I have people over and come in and out of the backyard, I currently have enough Nest Hubs, Chromecasts, Nest Wifi APs, and Nest mini's to cover all of the inside, just not outside.
Thanks!
EDIT: Thanks for all the recommendations and notes, I have gone with the half-off JBL Link Portable from Verizon ( https://www.verizon.com/products/jbl-link-portable-smart-speaker-bluetooth-waterproof/ ) because it is exactly what I was hoping for, the Sonos Move with charging dock, without the Sonos price. I will definitely consider the speaker cable solutions in the future, especially if JBL drops support and the speaker becomes a paperweight.
The jbl link series have Google assistent and chromecast function built in.
Cheap amp + chromecast audio and running wires to proper outdoor speakers is still the best move unfortunately. You can try Bluetooth pairing with a current device in place of the Chromecast audio, but it may not sync well (or work well period).
Supposedly a google speaker can pair to any bluetooth speaker as its default output. Google has a page about it and the option is there in the Home app.
That said, I have never once gotten one to successfully pair this way, to anything at all.
Pairs fine, but codecs are weird and inefficient so you end up with choppy/delayed audio unless you're really close.
Oh I forgot about that! I paired my living room TV with a Nest mini to try to hear the TV from the living room but it muted the TV
It works the other way around; the Nest can [supposedly] play its audio to another speaker but cannot receive audio from [edit: juat any] device.
About a year or so ago, I found a Sony SRS-XB402G that works amazing well with Google home. I'm sure they have an updated version.
I have the XB-501G and it's a beast for it's size.
Same
If you're looking for a fully integrated setup, look at SONOS One SL. But, if you're willing to deal with something more modular that you'll be happy with the look and sound, I would suggest buying a normal pair of outdoor speakers and a Bluetooth amp.
This allows you to pair the amp to your Google device (I use a regular Google Home) and set up the amp up as the audio source. This is how I setup my speakers in my back yard and pool area.
There are a few drawbacks to this but I deal with them.
I bought speakers off FB Marketplace at first, but after I realized this setup works well, I bought a 2nd setup for a larger set of speakers that I set up by the pool for larger gatherings. (that is how I tested multiple BT amplifier devices) - They all seem to work the same which leads me to believe they all have the weird buffer quirk.
best waterproof bluetooth speakers
Key Considerations for Waterproof Bluetooth Speakers:
Water Resistance Rating: Look for speakers with an IPX7 rating or higher, which means they can withstand immersion in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. IPX6 is also good for splashes and rain.
Sound Quality: Check for speakers that provide clear sound with good bass. Reviews and sound tests can help gauge audio performance.
Battery Life: Aim for a speaker with at least 10 hours of battery life for extended use, especially for outdoor activities.
Portability: Consider the size and weight of the speaker. Compact and lightweight models are easier to carry around.
Durability: Look for rugged designs that can withstand drops and rough handling, especially if you plan to use them outdoors.
Connectivity: Ensure the speaker has a stable Bluetooth connection and can pair with multiple devices. Some models also offer auxiliary inputs or USB ports.
Recommendations:
JBL Charge 5: This speaker has an IP67 rating, excellent sound quality, up to 20 hours of battery life, and can charge your devices via USB. It's durable and portable, making it great for outdoor use.
Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM 2: With an IP67 rating, this compact speaker offers 13 hours of battery life, 360-degree sound, and is designed for portability. It's perfect for beach trips or poolside use.
Bose SoundLink Micro: This speaker is known for its impressive sound quality in a small package. It has an IPX7 rating, 6 hours of battery life, and a built-in speakerphone for calls.
Choosing the right speaker depends on your specific needs, such as sound quality preference, portability, and how you plan to use it.
