Cleaning your laptop fans is essential for maintaining optimal performance and preventing overheating. Here are some effective methods and considerations based on user discussions:
Using Compressed Air
One of the most recommended methods for cleaning laptop fans is using compressed air. This method involves blowing air into the vents to dislodge dust and debris. It's a quick and efficient way to clean without having to open up the laptop. However, it's important to hold the fan blades in place while doing this to prevent them from spinning too fast and potentially causing damage.
Disassembling the Laptop
For a more thorough cleaning, you may need to open up your laptop. This involves removing the back panel to access the fans directly. Once opened, you can use a small brush or a vacuum with a brush attachment to gently remove dust from the fan blades and surrounding areas. Be sure to unplug the laptop and remove the battery before attempting this to avoid any electrical hazards.
Using an Air Duster
A rechargeable air duster can be a handy tool for cleaning laptop fans. Unlike canned air, a rechargeable duster provides a strong airflow without the need for continuous purchases. It’s useful not only for laptop fans but also for other electronics like keyboards and desktop computers [5:1].
Cleaning with Care
If you decide to wash the fan components, ensure that they are completely dry before reassembling and powering on the laptop. Water and electronics don't mix well, so this step is crucial to prevent any damage.
Regular Maintenance
To keep your laptop running smoothly, regular maintenance is key. Clean the fans periodically to prevent dust buildup, which can lead to overheating and reduced performance over time. Regular checks will help maintain the longevity and efficiency of your device.
By following these steps, you can effectively clean your laptop fans and ensure your device remains in good working condition.
I think it would make a great prepaid option now at like $150, with some music and banking/wallet apps.
I think I posted about it some time ago but I’ll chime in again, I had a brand new Q10 that died because of my own fault a few months later, as I had already spent quite a lot in the Q10 and I was a college student back then i got a 9720 from my carrier. Had to switch to a BIS plan again which was more expensive. Had a very poor experience, battery life was bad, build quality was just not there, while the keyboard was fine, the touch screen was plastic and ended up super scratched after only a few months of use, it was also much slower than the Q10 although admittedly back then BB7 had better app support. Kept it for 6 months and then replaced it with a used Q10 which served me well until I replaced it with a Priv
The last real BB.
Edit: The downvote bots in this sub can do one.
Phone made no sense at the time as you could have picked up a 9900 or 9360 and get a way better phone
I didn’t like the ones that weren’t the Bold series as much. The plasticky feel made a big difference. Curve was good too, but Bold was a favorite.
I've seen this getting as low as 70k on Flipkart during sales with cc discount
Wish for me 🥹 70k Even 80k bhi milega toh le lunga
I wish you for you bro 🫂, but, 80k is bit overpriced for this one.
Is this good or a 4050 loq which we get alot cheaper
I’m living in a dorm with no sink available aside from the communal bathroom and kitchen, and I would very much like to use a bong instead of joints. I’m thinking I use a Clorox wipe and rinse bong with water, then dump contaminated water in water bottle, dump that water in kitchen sink and clean water bottle. Please tell me if there’s a better way.
Get a bottle of 91-99% isopropyl alcohol (usually medicine aisle), coarse kosher salt, and decent sized jar. Throw the alcohol and salt in your bong when you need to clean it, let it sit for a few minutes then cover both holes with your hands and shake it up. Once you see all the reside come off pour your mix in the jar & you should be able to use it a few more times, add more salt and alcohol as needed.
You don’t need a sink, you need a bottle of water, alcohol, a container to pour the waste off into, and a place to dispose of it.
If you have a downstem, grab a Walmart container of sandwich meat. Use the meat as you like, and rinse the container out (the meat comes in a sealed package anyways). Put your stem in there, also some marbles or glass beads to take up additional space, then fill it with enough alcohol to cover the stem. Close it up, let it soak for a while. When you want to wash it, pull it out and give it a water rinse. Keep the alcohol, you can use it 10-20 times. You can also add your bowl in, same treatment.
Get a small spray bottle ($1 in the travel section), fill it with 91% isopropyl alcohol. Spray it down the mouthpiece and the joint. Pour a little extra in if you need it. Swirl the bong to dissolve all the resin, pour into your waste container (you can also pour it off into a reclaim container and reuse it a few times). Use a squirt bottle to rinse the inside of the piece, do this until the alcohol smell goes away.
When you need to, properly dispose of your waste containers and get new ones. Something with a wide mouth, like a sunny D container makes it easy. You might want a small cheap funnel to prevent spills. No need to sacrifice the quality of the clean just because you don’t have a sink immediately available. Improvise, modify, adapt and overcome.
Macgyver stoner right here!
To be fair, why should something so incidental as the end of civilized society prevent me from having a nice clean smoke?
Swap iso alcohol for Clorox. Less noxious. Otherwise, sounds like a decent system.
Wait till it’s 3 am and go clean your bong in the sink
Have you done that?
No, but if I lived in a dorm that’s what I would try 😅 or put it in a backpack and go to 7/11
I'd strongly suggest checking out a product called Pink Slips I just discovered. It's a cleaning product that's not a liquid solution, so a little bit more portable than most. LMK if you have any questions!
OMG those brows 🤣
💯
🤣🤣🤣
Looks like shadows and not brow liner
This one needs to watch make-up tutorials. Juelz, stop using Sharpies for eyebrows. How are you almost 60 and never learned to clean cat puke off your filthy floor?
I always let fans go too long, but I am wondering if I am missing a hack to get these very clean… I’ve used Q-tips and it takes a long time and only maybe 75% better. I’ve used little vacuums with similar success. The only thing I haven’t done is give it a bath And warm soapy, water and letting it dry completely. Is that an option?
There should be screws somewhere to get the shell apart. Then a nice scrub under the sink will do the trick. Let it dry completely before attempting to use it.
I used to do the exact same thing with Q-tips and a mini vacuum, but it always felt like I was just moving dust around. What helped me a lot was switching to a small rechargeable air duster (instead of canned air).
It’s basically like a tiny handheld blower – super strong airflow and you don’t have to keep buying disposable cans. I use it for my PC and mechanical keyboard too, but it actually works great on fan blades and vents without taking everything apart.
Mine is from a brand called Whatook on Amazon. It’s USB-C rechargeable, comes with a few nozzles, and honestly gets way more dust out in a few seconds than I could with Q-tips. You might find that easier (and less messy) than a full soap-and-water wash.
this is the correct answer, if you can afford it, this is by far the EASIEST way to clean, not necessarily the best but it does 95% of the job soap and water would do with significantly less effort.
Thanks bro
Your apartment wants cleaner fans? Wtf?
Because this is a fire hazard
Ahhh
Do you not own a vacuum? lil brush attachment
"I always let fans go too long" I don't think that is supposed to be a thing in the way you're using it
My fans, when they are servicing me, I always let them go too long post-climax
What the fuck
Hi. So I've been using my laptop for quite more than a year, and i noticed that the fans really need some cleaning. Any advice on good ways to clean them at home?
You could buy a can of compressed air and just blast them from the outside while keeping the fans still with the help of a small object or open it up and clean it with a brush or cloth. Make sure to hold the can upright and don't hold for too long, otherwise you might start expelling liquid propellant.
Appreciate it man
hey all, forgive me if this is the wrong place/this has been answered before, i don’t use reddit much. my fans are making a weird noise and im assuming its cat hair or dust, how do i clean the laptop fans without damaging it?
i know the bare minimum when it comes to this stuff, would just using canned air be good? thank you!
Get a soft toothbrush, also get some isopropyl alcohol. Look for 99%
Compressed air can also be useful.
I just use tweezers and a toothbrush to clean my fans. I hold down the fan with the tweezers to stop it from spinning while I brush off the dust using the toothbrush cause I heard letting it spin will damage it. Also make sure to disconnect the battery if you’re going to do this just to be sure!
is there a good video for how to remove and put the battery back in? i’m pretty tech inept
Clean the cat
alas, it is getting cooler (if you call going from 90+ degrees to 80 getting cooler) so the cats will not stop shedding 😔😔😔
Sounds hilarious but the problem in my nitro fans is a tenebrios farm
I have 0 experience in any tech or disassembeling tech ,but i need my fans clean.. Is it easy enough to do it at home and is it worth the risk? If so ..how?
Watch a video, if under warranty get serviced
can i just ask lenovo to clean it
its simple enough, but if you're trying to be cautious i'd recommend someone experienced to do it for u and u should jst observe how they do it, but warning havng ur tech disassembled for the first time is scary asf,,,,every snap feels like its the end💀 but once ur over it you'll be disassembling ur laptop in no time.
P.S if ur good at following instructions, YT tutorials can also do the trick
Very easy just make sure to watch a few videos for your model. A decent screw kit and pry tools will make it much easier.

It's pretty simple just be gentle with it and touch a metal surface connected to ground before opening the laptop. U can also watch some tutorials
I’ve had this for like 5 years now and I didn’t use to know I had to clean it lol. I’ve got dust in all of the fan areas and was wondering how I could easily clean this? I don’t own the compressed air stuff I hear about but do own a hair dryer and vacuum.
Watch tutorial video on how to tear down your PC put in the name of your PC and how to open and clean van. I’m pretty sure you’ll find a video of someone doing multiple videos.
Most likely the video is on YouTube
But should be a simple straightforward process
Don't use compressed air on laptops.
You type "laptop model disassembly and cleaning" on YouTube and see a shit ton of videos of various depth on how to do exactly what you ask for to the exact laptop you own.
You gotta take it apart to do a proper cleaning.
Don’t forget to water you computer once a week to keep it moist.
Please, do not use vacuum cleaner! Usually there are few videos even for very rare hardware ho to do cleaning and disassembly. Some old ones require to get rid of everything to be able to clean the fans and have option to replace the thermal pads+thermal paste.
And be careful not to damage anything!
Hello, I have an HP Omen 15 laptop. I got it in late 2019 and I have never cleaned the vents. How would I go about doing that? Thanks in advance. Also, are laptop cooling pads effective? That's another thing I plan on getting.
2019? I mean, you need to clean it (it doesn't matter your environment, 6 years is long overdue) and repaste it.
Tbh, yeah they help. I don't have a fancy cooler, but it helped my laptop survive the summer heat of my dorm (around 3-5°C difference when the fans are on). You can use it as a pure stand when working (its already better cooling than having no stand) and plug the fans on when gaming. A lot of people say illano is the best manufacturer (because it also has a dust filter), but it's expensive (tbh, any cooler works, just keep in mind to dust your laptop at least once 2-3 years, depending on environment).
yeah open it and use a q-tip to clean the fans, and change thermal paste from 6 months to a year!
open it, it needs cleaning needs change of thermal paste

you can open it, see the screws on the side of the bottom plate.
laptop cooling pads are not that effective, and I tried many.
Most efficients are Cooler Master Notepal U3 Plus (cheap) or Llano (costly)
or just this kind of stuff ( https://www.amazon.fr/ivoler-Ordinateur-Portable-Accessoire-Antid%C3%A9rapant/dp/B07XNP2KKK ) will do the job
