TL;DR
Preparation and Strategy
To defeat the final boss, Nyx Avatar, preparation is key. Players have found success by grinding to high levels and acquiring powerful Personas such as Lucifer and Satan, which can be fused to create Armageddon [3:1]. Stock up on SP-restoring items like Soma, as running out of SP can leave your team vulnerable
[1:1]
[1:2]. Understanding Nyx's phases is crucial; each phase requires different tactics, and knowing when to switch strategies can make the difference
[3:2].
Leveling and Persona Builds
While leveling up can make the fight easier, being overleveled might reduce the challenge significantly. In Persona 3 Reload, players have noted that reaching level 70 is sufficient for the final battle, but going beyond this can make Nyx less challenging [4:1]
[4:5]. A well-built physical Persona, like Siegfried, can break the game even at lower levels
[4:3]. Consider making another save file to try the fight at a lower level if you find it too easy
[4:4].
Understanding Nyx's Phases
Nyx has multiple phases, each representing a different Arcana. Learning the patterns and attacks associated with each phase is essential. Some players have experienced frustration due to unexpected setbacks, such as party members using healing spells on Nyx when charmed [3:3]. Patience and practice are necessary, as the fight can be lengthy and demanding, especially on harder difficulties
[3:4].
Additional Tips
For those struggling with the final boss, watching videos or reading guides can provide valuable insights into Nyx's moveset and strategies [5:3]. Confidence and persistence are important, as hesitation can lead to mistakes
[5:1]. If you're aiming for New Game Plus, ensure you've mastered the fight to avoid starting over
[5].
First things first: this is the craziest fucking boss fight I've ever played, Jesus Christ. Not in terms of story or even scale, but gameplay wise. I wasn't too inconvenienced by it, but it's designed to fuck you over in any way possible and it does this for the entire duration.
I get to Avatar Nyx, and the fight went as I imagine most people experienced it... for the first half. Halfway through, things were getting tight. All of my teammates ran out of SP and it was on me to provide healing as they helplessly chipped away at Nyx's health bar, almost cementing their fate.
As expected, the team of Akihiko/Aigis/Yukari had fallen.
However, I remained due to my higher level and strong against everything Messiah, and with enough healing items/SP to sustain me.
It soon set in how... significant and thematically fitting this was. Avatar Nyx is also Pharos/Ryoji, the confused boy/hormonal teenager who lived inside of me, guiding me and the entire team; he was the one who originally let it known that there was a poisoned flower (Shuji), and he had let us all in on The Fall, even though he had no reason to. He did both of these things because he learned to understand what life is, what life meant; as Pharos, he had questioned his own stance on death and as Ryoji, he was this close to being a fulfilled human, but fate is cruel.
And now, it's just me and him, face to face, one to one; man to man. Or in this case, man to Deity Of Death.
I have to fight and kill the thing that is pushing an apocalypse event that he had once learned to disagree with the reasoning of, but now the sequence of events dictated that he be fighting against the man who had taught him to love what he was going to destroy.
It was hard, in a way. But this is how things are, and I can't change that. Ryoji is gone, dead if you want to put it that way. I have to think to the future, and right now, there will be no future if I don't stop Nyx.
This fight was... really intense. Overall, it was a lot of back and forth because the neither of us couldn't do much damage to each other. I had to keep healing myself so I wouldn't get killed, and Nyx had trouble dealing with Messiah's resistances. The most intense boss I've ever played.
Just use Soma 4head
Funnily enough, I only had... one Soma going into the fight, and it was my only SP item.
Understandable, I have a dozen of them saved up just for the final battle and go ham
On to the Answer now. I wonder what you will think of that final boss.
First time I played this game back in 2009, I instinctively fired an Armageddon...then I went to phase 2
Good times.
(True Ending)
Honestly an amazing experience all around. I think the fact that only the true final boss is this difficult was a smart choice; if any earlier boss had given me that much trouble, I may not have enjoyed my time with this game as much as I did. It was however a considerable step up from any other boss, so I'm not sure how well it would be received by less invested gamers.
To anyone still stuck on that fight, keep practicing! Some of the guides on this Reddit also definitely helped me, but they are not a substitute for patience or skill
Hell yeah. I just killed the first boss. I'm at the airport, excited about my 2-hour flight.
I got it down to 2 hits and it charmed Aigis and she used Diarahan on it, I’m absolutely livid
I've fought that cock sucker about 40 times. I did a challenge to see if i could kill him with only reflects for another user, and that was 31 of them. But the other 9 times, hardest boss fight in any game for sure, especially on fes. In p3p i can get my rhythm going so it's a little easier but still. Nyx is a slimy cocksucker on hard
Oof I can’t even imagine it on hard, Nyx wasn’t really doing a lot of damage to me but my damage output wasn’t anything special so it was just a loooooooong fight
Once you learn the phases and what you gotta do is hard. But my first run on FES was terrible, i had like 8 restarts on his ass before i even got to the 13th arcana. But now i can do it in one go usually. P3p i haven't had to retry once however
Nyx is painfully unfun to fight, this is a normal occurrence unfortunately.
Yeah I just kinda peaced out and moved on to the answer, I don’t wanna do that whole deal again lmao
Did you atleast watch the ending?
I ended up painfully grinding to 99 and fused Lucifer and Satan for Armaggedon. At that level with my gear and personas, I solo'd Nyx up until the last stage and used Armaggedon.
Dear god you must have incredible patience
It was summer and I had no job. I put on podcasts and mindlessly killed. It took at least a week of like 5 hours a day play
I've first time playing Persona 3 and I was wondering if I should complete Elizabeth's requests and the monad doors or not. I wouldn't have asked but to complete both you need to kill the reaper, which I know gives a shit load of exp, and whatever is locked down in that final monad door at the top of tartarus. Basically I'm just wondering if I'll be overleveled.
I'm playing on hard
You should be about level 70. It's far too easy to be overleveled in Reload, but I don't actually think they made the fight any easier. I managed to beat it in the original P3 at level 95 and the only reason Yukari and Ken died is because I couldn't change their tactics. Don't be overleveled or have too good Personas and it'll be challenging.
Oh well I guess... might as well just go for the reaper than
I'm Lv 81 right now and in the middle of collecting the ultimate personas, so that's probably too overpowered for a fair fight anyway
I was level 86 with Messiah, it was pretty easy. Still took 40 mins and my party died lots of times. The reaper gives you lots of exp, you'll go into the 90s after you fight it. The final boss won't be challenging at all, maybe make another save so you can try it at a lower level.
Complete joke.
so they ruined nyx, great
I was on Merciless as well. And I wasn't even overleveled, just having a good Siegfried build was enough to breeze through the fight. Nyx was never "hard" but in FES it was at least offering a bit of a challenge. Here it's all gone, a physical Persona build is enough to break the game.
It was always easy to be overleveled for Nyx without trying even in the original game.
I beat nyx on hard with only my lv 75 siegfreid. It's so easy that I'm disappointed.
according to my friend, easy
I can’t go NG+ and want to really badly, I found this game surprisingly easy, learnt to parry and flew through the game, but at the end I just can’t kill the final boss, tried like 50 times, anyone else? Any tips please I don’t wanna start a new game just to play more
Well presumably you mean isshin, it depends where you are failing at, if you can post a video of an average attempt you can get better feedback
Phase 1 is fairly easy. He swings his sword and has very limited moveset. You can either deflect his ashina cross or run away to the left and he'll miss and you can hit him. He has a sweep you can jump on his head.
Phase 2 is the real challenge of the fight. He throws you a curveball and now has a very diverse moveset and punishes you for not knowing it. His spear has some serious reach and between the slower spear attacks and faster sword followups, you gotta be on your toes to deflect properly or he's gonna knock your ass on the ground and punish you. You can dodge his overhead jump slam he does with his spear to get a hit in. When he does the jump back spear attack you can dodge forward and get 1 hit in and then prepare to deflect
Phase 3 is phase 2 but with the benefit that he does does lightning. That's good. Reversing lightning on him stuns him and does massive posture damage and if you're lucky, he will spam the attack enough to where phase 3 can be shorter than phase 1. If you're unlucky or refuse to reverse lightning, it's phase 2 all over again
Thank you sir I will try
Look up vids on how to defeat him, no shame in that. It’s akin to a boxer studying his opponent’s previous fights. Thats how I figured out how to beat him. Realized my approach was wrong, he was still a bitch to take down but I did it!
Have you gotten to his third phase?
Not even 🤣
Mist raven is uderrated, can negate red attacks aswell.
In my opinion the third phase is the easiest cuz you can just touch his butt with his own lightning. The trick is not hesitating and not mentally giving up before the fight is even over. Confidence!!!
Have you tried killing the final boss?
There is 3h video on YT analyzing his moveset.
Watch the part that covers phase 1 then try to spot different visual clues as you are playing.
I had a very hard time connecting the visual clue with the reaction as I just did not know what to look for exactly.
When you already know his body language the rest is just a bit of practice and consistency
What an awesome fight. The pure bliss that you feel after beating him is one of a kinda. Took me around 2 weeks of fighting him every like 2-3 days for some time. And i beat him today. Really hard but also fair (mostly)
Awesome honestly lost a bit of a faith I could do it myself at first but after coming back from a good night's sleep with a clear head it only took me a couple more attempts after struggling for a good while beforehand.(Like over a week or so of failure)
Yea i realize that if you keep trying to fight him many times in a row you keep dying sooner. But if you take breaks in between. Or maybe even next day. You get further in the fight.
(Unrelated but this also kinda applies to studying for me)
Nice job dude! I beat it last night MY GOD it was hard.
Thanks and nice job to you too. It is indeed very hard. I haven’t played the sans boss fight as I don’t have the guts to do a genocide route in undertale. But before beating the knight I genuinely used to think he was on the same level or even harder than sans. But now i feel sans is harder. But knight is still VERY hard (and fun/infuriating)
One of the best feelings lmao. most of my friends are actually into bullet hells so it took them a small amount of time to beat it but after a few hours i managed to do it and it felt so nice
I beat him yesterday after 5 tries when I figured out to save Limit Break for the end 😭
That took me much more than 5 tries and i couldnt even ragequit because that would set me back to like an hour worth of prior phases lol
I only lost once and got to restart the last battle but my god... I am so scared of hard mode now.
My exact thought when I died was “Thank God they didn’t make me redo every phase like remake”
It will test you if you really learned the combat or not. Don't ignore the sinergy abilities.
That’s the reason I didn’t ragequit either. I thought “oh no do I have to do all the phases again”
Octoslash ruined my life when I almost had him beat. Really loved these sets of boss battles
You're scared because you fear he's going to break out, right? I fear that too, but I'm ready for if he suddenly starts talking directly to the player at any point during the game.
This took me so many hours the first time honestly.
In the case of the vanilla final boss? Same way I beat most bosses. Beat on them until their HP reached 0. My preference was to deal the final blow with Messiah, appropriate to the boss' namesake in Gnosticism.
It was a 4 hour struggle the first time. Because I was really bad with time management, Morgana and Igor were the only confidants I had maxed, so I didn't really have any good healing or revive items. So each time I went through the fight it was a war of attrition as to what would crack first, my SP or Yaldaboath's HP. And considering it took I think 18 tries to beat him, I think you know the answer. It was much easier the second time since I knew what I was doing by that point, and I expect it to be extremely easy when I get to it at the end of my third playthrough. Because this time I have Satanael, and have had him since like halfway through the first palace.
I had almost the same experience the first time I played vanilla!
Idk I didn't have any problems. Just usual buffs and charge then ded
He had all the arms out and his health was pretty low so I gambled and used a charge + debilitate + attack up on ryuji + megaton raid and it DESTROYED him lmao
Hassou Tobi'd his ass
I was over leveled. I had the auto-teamwide buffs equipped. Brought Ryuji, Ann, and Makoto (with President’s Insight equip). I debilitated Yaldaboth, then I kept charging and concentrating to do as much damage a possible. Guarded and healed when I needed to and defeated him before he could bring out the 3rd arm.
I ran out of SP and was super close to being screwed after dying twice in this boss fight my heart was even beating so hard I didn’t expect his own attack to kill him
This feels poetic.
Shido screwing himself over in the end.
He injured himself and got us in jail, he injured himself again and defeated himself. That's some irony lol
Yeah. The best is when his first skill oneshots himself
bro this exactly so hype winning like this! congrats!
That's glorious. I needed someone to get their comeuppance as well. I just watched episode seven of Blackout: Snow White Must Die and the amount of people in that show that need karma to slap them down had me seething. So, great timing with this and congrats.
Had something similar happen, I decided to go into the fight with only the persona metatron which is the one you got from the justice confidant akechi, shido used a wind attack that metatron reflects and it killed him. Feels poetic, like shidos actions against akechi coming back to bite him and in the end being what does him in.
How to defeat the final boss in Persona 3: Reload
Key Considerations for Defeating the Final Boss in Persona 3: Reload
Level Up Your Characters: Ensure your party is at a high level (around level 80 or higher) to maximize your stats and abilities.
Optimize Your Personas: Equip Personas that have strong skills and resistances against the final boss's attacks. Focus on Personas that can exploit the boss's weaknesses.
Use Buffs and Debuffs: Utilize skills that increase your party's attack and defense while lowering the boss's stats. Skills like "Tarukaja" (attack boost) and "Rakukaja" (defense boost) can be crucial.
Manage SP and Healing: Keep an eye on your SP and have plenty of healing items or spells ready. The final boss can deal heavy damage, so maintaining your party's health is essential.
Exploit Weaknesses: Identify and exploit the boss's elemental weaknesses. Use skills that target these weaknesses to deal extra damage and potentially knock the boss down.
Use All-Out Attacks: If you knock the boss down using elemental weaknesses, follow up with an All-Out Attack for significant damage.
Prepare for Phases: The final boss may have multiple phases with different attack patterns. Be ready to adapt your strategy as the fight progresses.
Recommendation: Before the battle, ensure you have a balanced party with a mix of physical and magical attacks. Save your game before the fight so you can retry if needed. Focus on maintaining your party's health and using your strongest attacks strategically to wear down the boss. Good luck!
