TL;DR
Lash Lifts and Primers
A lash lift is a procedure that perms your lashes to keep them curled upwards, making them appear longer and more visible [1:1]
[1:5]. This method is favored by many because it enhances the natural length of lashes without the need for extensions or falsies. Additionally, using a lash primer before mascara can help condition lashes, making them look longer and thicker without clumping
[1:3]
[1:6].
Natural Oils and Remedies
Castor oil is frequently mentioned as a natural remedy for promoting eyelash growth [1:8]
[2:2]
[5:1]. Some users report seeing results after consistent application over several weeks or months. However, there is debate about its efficacy, with some claiming it merely prevents breakage rather than stimulating growth
[5:2]
[5:3]. Other oils like sweet almond oil and mixtures of vitamin E capsules with olive oil are also suggested
[2:3]
[5:8].
Lash Serums
Lash serums are widely recommended for enhancing eyelash growth. Products such as Revitalash, Grande Lash, and Ridiculash have been praised for their effectiveness [3:1]
[3:4]
[5:7]. However, it's important to be aware of potential side effects, such as hyperpigmentation or orbital fat loss, which some users have experienced
[3:2]
[4:4].
General Care and Maintenance
Maintaining healthy eyelashes involves being gentle with them. Avoid pulling or picking at lashes, and remove mascara carefully to prevent damage [5:1]. Incorporating a lash care routine that includes moisturizing can help keep lashes strong and reduce breakage
[5:6].
Considerations Beyond the Discussions
While these methods can help improve the appearance of eyelashes, genetics play a significant role in determining their natural length and fullness [4:2]. If you're considering using any products, especially those applied near the eyes, ensure they are safe and patch test if necessary to avoid allergic reactions
[1:12].
I have a problem with falsies as they look fake and I have been trying to go to a professional and put extensions and apparently I am allergic to the glue they are using.
I hate to put mascara because I feel it ruins my lashes and it's hard to remove and now I am not able to put extensions but I still want longer lashes.
Is there any way to make them longer? Maybe an oil or something? Has anyone tried it?
***EDIT: Thank you so much for your help!!! I really appreciate it :)
Have you tried a lash lift? It perms your lashes so they stay curled upwards and therefore look more visible thus kinda looking longer.
Yep this is the way, mine go straight out and I always thought I had short lashes but when they're lifted they look huge
How long does a lash lift last? And when it ‘fades’ does it fall naturally or is there an in between phase when some lashes are still curled and some have grown in straight?
Can you still use mascara with a lash lift?
OP could also get a lash tint with the lift to completely avoid the need for mascara. Only thing I would caution against is to make sure they do a patch test at least 24 hrs before getting either done. Since OP has already had an allergic reaction to glue, it’s better safe than sorry.
Oh yeah totally, I always forget about tinting, I have fairly dark lashes so don’t bother with it myself. Lash lifts are it though, mascara looks better on, and without mascara/makeup you still feel a bit prettier and more put together.
I just started using lash primer. It’s been a game changer for me. I have very sensitive eyes, and even mascara(if it flakes off) will sometimes bother them. I have found that the primer “conditions” my lashes, and then only one layer of mascara is needed. Long, thick and defined, and no flaking because they’re not “dry” with 5 coats of mascara. Hope this makes sense. Try some lash primer(I used L’Oréal Voluminous primer).
I second this! On days where I’m not in the mood to clean off lots of mascara (cuz they’re tricky to remove 😭), I use primer w my mascara. It helps them look longer and just as thick but without the clumpiness!
Lash primer really does make a difference! I curl my lashes with heat, then use lash primer and a coat of mascara = long, thick lashes that stay curled until I take it off
Use a serum and then get a lash lift every now and again!
Lash lifts changed my life. It’s genuinely surprising seeing how long your lashes actually are when they’re up, and they can also tint them so they look even more prominent.
Castor oil!! Apply a bit every night and you should see results in a few weeks or months. I used it to grow my hair longer too
So umm yk I've been seeing alot of people with long eyelashes and they're so pretty and I wanna get longer eyelashes aswell but I don't wanna buy lash serums because I am scared they might hurt my eyes 😭 I don't wanna risk losing my eyesight (alright I know I am being a bit dramatic 🤡) help me out pookies🎀🎀
I use castor oil, I put a little with an applicator in my lashes and eyebrows. Started seeing a difference in the 2 month mark
Ahhhh I've been hearing about castor oil alot tbh I'll try that aswell
Oo so I wanted long lashes too so wt I did was I mixed vitamin e capsules and olive oil and applied it to my lashes b4 going to sleep
it works...?
Yes yes it did
If you dont use anything on your lashes then your lashes wont change.
I make sure the lash serums i use don't have prostaglandin in them. Personally i use grow for it and my lashes have grown nicely
Oh right can you tell me the product's name
Glow for it lash serum:)
Castor oil!!!!!
I've been hearing about castor oil alot but it smells so bad and like what if it gets in your eyes won't it sting?

my lashes used to be like super long and full, until a while back i accidentally ripped some out with my enemy, the eyelash curler. and now my lashes just aren’t the same. im trying to get them healthier but i haven’t noticed any difference. i know it’s important to keep them moisturized and not brittle to keep from breaking. i’ve tried getting extensions but sometimes they bother me and false lashes are just a hassle. i just want to grow out my natural lashes longer and thicker! i’m desperate at this point to find products that will lengthen, add volume, strengthen, and moisturize my lashes. (all while being not expensive) i’ve read that castor oil has some mixed reviews and some say it works and others say there’s no proof. i guess vitamin e would work but i don’t know how to spot a good kind. i’ve looked at several lash serums and i’m scared of taking some risks on them bc of the chemicals some have and after affects/ damage they might cause. i can’t spend a lot of money, im in a really tight budget for this but i want to make sure i get great lashes (to help w my self esteem lol) does anyone have any tips? maybe proven products that work and also are like priced well? thank you!!
I use the Revitalash advanced eyelash serum and it really works. One thing you have to be mindful of is potential loss of orbital fat - this was not a problem for me because I had extra eye fat but may be an issue for others. Second potential issue is the price but each tube does last 6 months do it does spread out.
I take collagen and vitamin c every morning and after two or so months noticed a difference also stopped wearing mascara and if I did made sure to wash it off well to avoid drying them out
I had great success with Grande lash serum. After getting lash extensions for a few months, my lashes were trashed. I used that for a few months and my lashes bounced back to even better than before!
Lily lash has been awesome for me…
Ridiculash by Jolie Beauty works wonders! My lashes are super long after using it.
It's reasonably priced and they also offer a money back guarantee!
My eyelashes are not super short, but I would like them to grow a bit longer.
I have heard of so many possibilities and I wondered which one is the most effective, while still being safe to use.
Also I am worried I might get hyperpigmentation from using any products. I am not sure but I think that was caused by lash serums.
What do you guys recommend?
Edit: Are there any natural alternatives to lash serums?
It's genetic. You can't. Try false lashes there are those individual ones that can look very natural and pretty.
anything other than lash serums would be taking a risk
Ordinary lash serum is very quick effective and affordable, most effective lash serums have prostaglandins which is the ingredient I assume casuses the hyperpigmentation and fat loss. Tbh I already have bad dark circles so idrc and they haven't gotten any worse since I've been using lash serums.
i love scorolash and get compliments all the time on my natural lashes
a natural alternative is castor oil. i mix it with my nighttime moisturizer and apply all over, so im not specifically doing it on my lashes but they have grown as have my eyebrow hair. you can use a spoolie to apply to lashes directly. give it about a month to see results. i swear by castor oil, so good
The lashes on my outer corner of my right eye have decided to stop growing in conjunction with the rest of my eyelashes. They’re coming in at weird angles and aren’t as bushy or full as the rest of my lashes.
I used to pull out my lashes and hair (anxiety) but I’ve been pretty good about it the past couple years, so I’m not sure if it’s related to that.
Any advice on how to get my lashes growing back to normal would be greatly appreciated!
It is clinically tested that castor oil does nothing to hair, doesn't absorb and contains nothing that could help hair to growth if it was absorbed.
You need lash-grow serums, peptides and taurine.
Also maybe heated eyelash curler to get rid of the weird angles.

Actually, I pulled a piece of my brow once when was super stressed and it grew back tiny and weak two or three years later.
A lot of people think putting oil on lashes makes them grow longer - many times it's simply preventing breakage, so they look longer, but they're just not breaking at the tips.
For OP, this might be all they need. But to truly grow more lashes, your suggestions are spot on.
This is good to know!
Have you heard anything about Vitamin E for lashes? I’ve heard of girls breaking capsules of Vitamin E and then putting it on their lash line to stimulate growth.
I heard of evolution that made skin don't absorb oils. I heard of clinical testing. With a ruler. I also heard of placebo. We can make ourselves believe in any miracle.
do you wear extension or falsies? These can be pretty hard on your natural lashes. Look into vitamin rich plant oils that will support the follicle and are also safe around they eyes.
I never wear extensions or false lashes - even if I wanted to. I can never figure out how to put them on without looking like a fake Barbie doll haha
It takes a certain finesse haha. Do you moisturize your lashes at all? maybe adopting a lash care routine would help them be happier.
Grande Lash serum.
Sweet almond oil is also very helpful for growing eyebrows and lashes
I had extensions and they destroyed my lashes so I purchased castor oil as a recommendation to repair them and I have been using it ever since and my lashes are so long and thick. I’m also very mindful to be kind to my lashes now too (don’t pick at them, don’t pick mascara off, take mascara off very gently, don’t scrub the lashes).
how do you apply it?
Hi, I am looking for any tips to growing longer/fuller lashes after damage from extensions. I used to have beautiful lashes (picture included w no mascara) until I had extensions from January 2022-August 2023. My lashes were thin, sparse and damaged after removing but they haven't grown back to their natural. After removing, I didn't use mascara for around a month and since then I've been using mascara once a day. Over a month ago, I stopped using mascara completely and have seen some growth but barely any. Please help :)
My daughter swears by castor oil
I take omega 3 pills with a meal
try some lash serums they help a lot
First photo is from almost a year ago and second is today. (Yes I have dark eyeliner in first photo but that's it, I don't use mascara)
I ask for anything that could help me that i wouldn't have to keep taking in order for it to work. I've heard of people starting some lash serums and becoming dependent on them because when they'd stop, lots of their lashes would start falling out again, please I just want to look like I used to before. Could the issue be that i've been applying dark eyeliner to my waterline for too many weeks? I have noticed that whenever I wipe it off like seven lashes would fall out. Would I need to stop applying the eyeliner completely? I apologize if I seem a bit dim-headed I just truly want some advice.
Take a break from the liner, switch to micellar water, and dab on some castor oil at night. This helped mine grow back after over-plucking.
Castor oil works well, plus sleep on your back if possible. I’ve noticed that even side sleeping can cause lash damage. Just be patient, the lifecycle of your lashes is something like 8 weeks so it will take time for them to get back to where you want them.
Yess castor oil has worked great for mine! They grew fast too but ig that depends on the person haha
I don't think it's the liner. I think it's how you're removing it. Use a few drops of grape seed oil & your fingertips to gently rub your lash line. Then wash off the oil with your normal cleanser.
Oils bond & break up other oils. Grape seed oil has a smaller particle size than other oils so it can do that more easily than a heavier oil.
thank you so much for this
This sounds crazy but Vaseline really worked for me!!
What do you use to remove eyeliner?
i've been using those neutrogena wipes but lately i've realized they kind of irritate my eyes a bit
I'm old, but my lashes look good, lol. Been using GrandeLash MD for about 5 years. Works almost as well as Latisse, but without the irritation, yay. I do not use waterproof mascara, so my eye makeup comes right off with a dab of gentle facial cleanser. No scrubbing or rubbing necessary. (I get that some people really need waterproof tho.)
I recommend Grande Lash also! I've been using it almost four years and haven't had any issues and it filled my sparse lashes in nicely. I try not to wear mascara at least on Sundays to give my lashes a break. The three month supply is $65, but u can get a discount from their website if you're a first time buyer. It will take the full three months to see the results, so if you do try it don't get discouraged if you don't see results after only a month. Good luck!
Grandelash works wonders
Get makeup remover instead of scrubbing mascara off, take breaks where u don’t use it for a few days. Mascara can cause eyelashes to be brittle and break. Put a small layer of Vaseline on eyelashes every other night
Agreed, breaks from mascara are great!
I really like to use nourishing lash- and brow gel instead of mascara. It has a double benefit: You can improve your lash structure and length and have a subtly made up look at the same time! Make sure to wash it off in the evening, though.
Cold pressed castor oil on the lash line at night. It will help with thin eyebrows and hair too. Do NOT use if pregnant.
I felt compelled to share my journey .
For 5 years, I had lash extensions and I would pick out my lashes constantly, and also struggled with health issues . As you can see in first picture , I barely had any lashes left you could count them all.
I started using Dime lash growth serum twice a day, sometimes more at the beginning stages and brushed through my lashes and at the base . Flash forward 2 years and I now have my DREAM lashes . I never thought I could recover and I gained so much confidence .
I started getting lash lifts once I actually got my length back and do it about every 8 weeks
My lash products are: Lancôme cils booster , Lancôme Lash Idol, and then I brush the Glossier Mascara through to separate them.
Not sponsored at all!!! I really felt like sharing my journey and I wanted to help anyone who struggled with lash picking and sparse lashes in general 🫶 questions welcome!
Thanks for sharing :)
To add . I really started seeing results at 3 months , but my lashes were so severely damaged it took some extra time for me to get here 🫶
what can i do to increase lashes length? suggest a serum/oil that genuinely works. i want the longest thickest lashes eva lolll
I stopped wearing mascara and my lashes are longer than they’ve ever been. I’ll still wear it now for special occasions, but I no longer wear it everyday.
Ok, trust me go an get a lash serum without hormones on Amazon. It’s called SWEED. Give it 2-3 months and you’ll have longest lashes
biotin speeds up hair growth incl lashes
Lashes grow out and are replaced constantly, the lashes you burned last year are long gone.
I've heard some gnarly side effects of some lash serums so I use natural ingredients as much as possible (just like how you ingest all lip products, lash products comes in contact with your eyes and skin). Mix of jojoba oil, almond oil, and castor oil worked really well for me. Add coconut oil for more hair production, but I found while coconut oil improves hair growth and volume, it makes my asian hairs finer and thinner which I don't want for my lashes
How to get longer eyelashes?
Here are some key considerations for achieving longer eyelashes:
Eyelash Serums: Consider using a lash serum that contains ingredients like biotin, peptides, or prostaglandin analogs. These can promote growth and improve the thickness of your lashes. Popular options include Latisse and over-the-counter serums.
Proper Nutrition: A balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals (especially vitamins A, C, E, and biotin) can support hair growth, including eyelashes. Foods like eggs, nuts, and leafy greens are beneficial.
Gentle Makeup Removal: Always remove eye makeup gently to avoid pulling or breaking your lashes. Use a gentle makeup remover or micellar water.
Avoid Eyelash Curlers: Frequent use of eyelash curlers can weaken lashes. If you use one, do so sparingly and ensure it’s clean and in good condition.
Castor Oil: Some people find that applying castor oil to their lashes can help promote growth. It’s rich in fatty acids and may nourish the hair follicles.
Regular Trimming: Just like hair, trimming your eyelashes can help them grow healthier. Trim only the very tips to avoid damaging them.
Avoid Mascara Buildup: Excessive mascara can weigh down lashes and lead to breakage. Opt for a nourishing mascara and avoid waterproof formulas that are harder to remove.
Recommendation: If you’re serious about enhancing your lash growth, consider starting with a reputable eyelash serum. Just be sure to follow the instructions carefully and consult with a dermatologist if you have sensitive skin or eyes.
