Hi, I’ve been playing Minecraft for a long time. And if there’s one thing I never learned how to do, it’s installing mods. One of my cousins installed mods for me. But I don’t know how to set it all up. Can somebody tell me how?
curseforge/twitch is probably the easiest method, but by no means the only way to do it.
(This is for Microsoft computers)
download forge for the version you want to mod,
run it,
in the files search %appdata%. \minecraft\,
download mods for the version of minecraft that you want to mod,
`once downloaded, click and drag the.jar files into the mod folder.
I've been struggling to mod minecraft for like 3 days and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I will try to give as much detail as possible but I'm not good with computers and don't understand most of the stuff going on. But anyway, I have everything I need downloaded I'm pretty sure, I downloaded forge, java, etc etc, but the first time I tried to download a biome mod i kept getting a "no class found" error and the research I tried to do made me even more confused. I deleted everything and started over and now while I can run the game none of the mods I put into my mods folders are showing up in the mods folder in the game. someone please help me T_T
Make sure the mods are for the modloader you are using, version number of minecraft you are playing and that you have also downloaded any dependencies the mods need to run.
I have but even when they show up in the in game mods folder they don’t show up in the world
They are not in subfolders in your mods folder and you haven't extracted the .jars correct?

I’ve wanted to know how to use mods for a long time now but never knew how, can someone just explain to me how I can install some, that would be really helpful
Twitch launcher has a mods section, and it's great for finding mod packs and mods to play with, and being able to do it in a safe way where you can't run into repost sites. I use the launcher all the time, and if you ever want another mod that isn't on curseforge, it's very simple to put it in.
Ok thanks for the help man
Thanks to everyone who helped me, I’ve finally installed a mod pack on Minecraft
Do you play on the PC version because I have a very good way to install mod packs on pc
Ya I play pc
Ok if you download twitch you can go to the mod section and download the mod pack you want free of cost and then just follow the instructions you can also find a lot of tutorials on downloading mod packs though twitch look on YouTube if you need help
Go and download twitch on your pc go to the mods tab in twitch download what you want go to mc launcher click the arrow next to play button select your mod and play

make sure the mod is for forge and for the correct version of the game. the .jar just goes in the mods folder.
note: curseforge does not equal forge
i know about the mod downloaders but i just don't know how to download and import said mods into minecraft. is it just as simple as downloading forge, downloading the mods i want and then somehow putting them into the files of minecraft?
sorry, i am completely inexperienced in mods of any kind.
Put mods in the mods folder. It's that easy.
Easier if you use a mod manager like curseforge
where/how do i access the mods folder?
Where ever you installed forge.
Just use curseforge, makes it easy.
The very easy way would be to use Modrinth or CurseForge.
Just download the curseforge app, it's stupid easy with that
Use prism, it's easiest method
I figured it out, all i had to do was download jarfix
I cannot find Mimecraft in my files, am I doing something wrong?
First - make sure you are using the Java edition of Minecraft, not Bedrock.
Second - Use Twitch, it's the best way for beginners to get into modded - https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/How-to-Play-Minecraft-with-Twitch-App?language=en_US
Thanks
(Assuming you are using PC version of Minecraft)
(How to locate .minecraft Folder)[https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/.minecraft]
Now to get mods, normally you can use a modloader, such as forge, or even fabric. It really depends on the mods you want, most mods use Forge. To install either, you find the installer from the modloader's official site, and usually following the steps will get the mod installed
After that, there usually is a mods folder, in the .minecraft folder where you drop all the mods in.
Then, go into minecraft, and select versions, and use the modloader as your version, it should then detect the mods, and run them.
This is kind of vague, as it does depend on what modloader, version of Minecraft, and System you are using, but this should work as a general guide
Thank you
Which version
hello. I've spent a few good hours trying to install mods on my java Minecraft but have gotten nowhere. I've tried downloading the forge mod loader and opening it with the java app but the app doesnt show up when I try to open it with java. does anyone know a fix to this? would anyone be able to hop on a discord call and show me on a step by step guide on how to get everything working?

Update** I did end up getting it to work thanks to a very helpful redditor
Consider using a third-party launcher like Prism for modded minecraft.
It streamlines the process by letting you install the correct version of Java, mod loader, modpacks, mods and dependencies from Curseforge and Modrinth directly in the launcher for the version of minecraft you select.
It will automatically keep instances isolated so you can't accidently open a world in the wrong version.
Thank you, I got it to work because of this
I'm looking to start playing with mods and want to know the best way to go about it
Usually I see a sub post to their home page that they are looking for more mods. Then you reach out and they ask you a few questions, kind of an interview. Then presto, your in.
Install Forge and then put your mods in %appdata%/.minecraft/mods. There are a lot of youtube videos on it that are sure to help you!
I'm just looking for help or a simple guide on how to install mods.
Get forge first
Mk forge is installed
Then just drop the mods into the mods folder
And optifine
Yes I know it sounds dumb, but it's my first time on PC and I feel like messing around.
You will need a modloader like Forge or Fabric installed in order to use mods
Setup for Forge:
