How to Marry Elliot in Stardew Valley

TL;DR To marry Elliot, you need to reach 10 hearts with him, give him a bouquet, and then propose using the Mermaid's Pendant. His favorite gifts include artisan goods like maple syrup and fruit jelly, as well as tulips [3:1].

Building Friendship

To increase your friendship with Elliot, focus on giving him gifts he loves. Artisan goods such as maple syrup, pine tar, mayonnaise, and fruit jelly are highly appreciated by him. He also loves tulips and likes basic flowers [3:1]. Regularly gifting him these items will help boost your relationship quickly.

Schedule and Interaction

Elliot can be found near his cabin by the ocean, often hanging out there during the day [5:1]. To make interactions easier, consult his schedule on the Stardew Valley wiki, which provides detailed information about his daily routine and preferences [5:2][5:3].

Heart Events and Proposal

Once you reach 10 hearts with Elliot, you can propose marriage using the Mermaid's Pendant. You don't necessarily need to see all of his heart events before proposing, but they add depth to his character and storyline [4:1]. The event where Elliot invites you to meet him at the docks only triggers between 7 am and 1 pm on sunny days [4:1].

Romantic Qualities

Elliot is known for being romantic and sweet, often giving gifts like wine early in the morning [5:2]. Players have found his cutscenes compelling and his character interesting, making him a worthwhile marriage candidate [5:2][5:4].

Additional Tips

If you're having trouble finding Elliot or triggering specific events, use resources like the Stardew Valley wiki to plan your interactions more effectively [5:3]. Engaging with Elliot consistently and understanding his preferences will ensure a successful proposal and marriage in the game.

It’s totally worth it, I love him so much I HAD to set up a little smth for this proposal, though it was pretty ugly and mid 😭, I tried to dig out the words “Marry me?” on the sand but that didn’t work out so I just opted for this 🥲

I used to hate Elliott, but now he is is by far my 2nd favorite marriage candidate, he’s so precious to me

Funny, I’m romancing Elliot as a male farmer right now. He’s probably the most controversial marriage candidate. Overconfident maybe arrogant, but to the point where he reveals his own self-criticism and just wants people to like him, probably the way he has idolized the lead in a romance novel, Fabio-like charisma is what makes people like you… He also doesn’t wait for consent to kiss you in this cut scene…

So, I’m genuinely trying to convince myself to marry him but part of me wants to marry Sam because I’ve never married him. I wish that concernedape just fleshed out his character a little bit more post marriage (not exactly sure but from what I’ve heard, he doesn’t have the depth of character development that Haley has, for instance).

Tips on marrying Elliot?

Posted by Fuzzy-Objective6293 · in r/StardewValley · 4 years ago

Sooo to make a long story short, I got my mom playing Stardew Valley and she likes Elliot and wants to marry him. She looks towards me for tips and (I know some of you will criticize) I don’t personally like Elliot. He’s quite shy and I like Shane because he expresses his opinions more so than others. Do you have any tips on how to get Elliot happy enough to marry her? She’s barely started year 2 so nothing ridiculous like a diamond or something. Any tips are welcomed!

That event only triggers between 7am and 1pm so make sure you're going between those times. You also don't need to see this event in order to propose; as long as you're at 10 hearts he'll accept the pendant. In theory you could marry someone without actually seeing any of their heart events.

Who should I marry? Elliott or Sebastian? I love them both and I’m spiraling

Posted by 404ElysNotFound · in r/StardewValley · 3 months ago

Hey, first-time poster here! So I’ve hit that point in Stardew Valley.... the part where you have to choose who to marry and I am so stuck.

I love both Elliott and Sebastian. Deeply. Emotionally. Like, pacing-my-farm-at-midnight levels of stuck.

Elliott was the first to catch my heart. Literally and dramatically. He showed up with that flowing hair, ocean eyes, and poetic charm like he stepped out of a romance novel. Said something like, “Ah, a mysterious stranger…” and I was like sir pls. He’s romantic, intense, probably writes love letters on rainy days. It was love at first dramatic monologue.

Then there’s Sebastian - the quiet coder with a sarcastic streak and low-key golden retriever energy (but in eyeliner). He’s got that chill, “I pretend I don’t care but actually I’d die for you” vibe. He is that kind of lover who would build me a computer, sit with me in the rain, and probably mock my fishing skills while secretly thinking I’m the coolest person alive.

The thing is, gaming and reading are my favorite hobbies. And somehow, they each feel like a mirror. Elliott reflects the book-loving, romantic side of me. Sebastian gets the cozy, gamer-at-heart part of me.

I know we can have multiple play through but I want this to be perfect since it's my first.

So now I’m torn between two pixel boyfriends who each feel like home in different ways.

If you’ve married either of them, how did it go? Any regrets? Did one end up fitting you more than you expected?

or should i just skip the drama and marry Krobus?

P.S. Sorry for the long yapping paragraph

I have been dreading this decision in my playthrough too. Elliott and Sebastian were always the 2 I was the most interested in since the beginning and I’m dreading the day where I have to finally pick. My approach thus far is to let my relationships with all the love interests come naturally, like as if I’m getting to know them for real.

For example and funnily enough, the one I have the most hearts right now with are Harvey (idk how that happened, it just turned out that way). Yet I don’t plan to marry him because I don’t feel like I’d be happy with him in the end if it was real life. However, other characters like Alex and Leah have surprised me and are making me question my choices. I know for a fact there are some characters I would never consider and there are others that I feel I would have a strong connection with irl.

So in summary, my advice is to go with who you think you would connect with the most irl. Would you rather have an Elliott or a Sebastian in your every day life? Which one aligns with your views of life the most? Which one do you think would be the most interested in you? Once you answer those questions, the answer should become more clear.

404ElysNotFound · OP · 3 months ago

This is such a thoughtful approach and honestly, very comforting! I love the idea of letting it play out naturally like real life. And maybe pickles are just easier to gain so that might be to do something with Harvey. And for real life, I basically suck at decision making. Like really really bad. It's like stuck between two pieces of my heart. I really like your idea of relating it to real life which just made it even tougher. Because sometimes I like to play games and to be on my own (and also I love Michael Clifford from 5sos who happens to be a gamer too). So it's of course just screams Sebastian. But also I LOVE writing, and poems. Having way with the words is my weakness and so does the long hair, gentleman vibe which is TOTALLY Elliot. It's tough frr.

2 upvotes on reddit
frosty_coffee9637 · 3 months ago

In fairness, I am always between Harvey and Elliot (because they don’t come off as minors 😬) and as much as Elliot was my first pick because of books and his die hard romance, I still pick Harvey occasionally because he reminds me of my IRL husband. Healthcare, WW2. But my god I love Elliot. Hes more my other, hidden side.

Seb really does have this quiet kind of depth that just pulls you in. He feels like home in a hoodie. I totally get the 100%. Though I’ll admit, a part of my heart still swoons for Elliott’s dramatic charm and sea-writer vibes… he was my first in-game crush after all! This is why it’s so hard!

Help deciding between marriage candidates

Posted by Saberleaf · in r/StardewValley · 6 years ago

So, recently I started my second playthrough and now I'm at the end of my first year, with most love interests at 5-8 hearts. Well, all except for Shane, because he's a douche... and the "turn guys into girls" mod didn't work on him. EHM...

Anyways, in my first playthrough I married Penny because she's an angel walking on this dark gloomy earth, but I want my second playthrough to be different which means a different spouse. I've seen almost all of the hearts events but... I just... don't know. I only know who I don't want to marry: Shane, Sebastian, Alex, Sam, Haley, Emily, Leah and Maru.

Which leaves me with Elliot, Harvey and Abigail. Out of these I like Penn.... I mean Abigail the most but she seems... I dunno, too irresponsible like me to live on a farm. Harvey (or Harriet as is my game) is really sassy and fun but kind of dull, I haven't seen all of her heart events though. Elliot (or Elena) is like a really nice and classy lady who doesn't really belong on a farm.

I can't decide between these 3. Do you have any tips that could help me decide? Are there some events (except for heart events) that show their character? Is there anything else you can recommend?

I always pick Elliott, because of how sweet and romantic they can be. Whether or not they "belong on the farm" they belong in my farmer's life and have no issue being there.

In my second play through I went with Elliott (my first was Shane mostly because that's the name of my actual boyfriend), yes he is really like soft and sweet and fluffy. I find once he gets on the farm he keeps that sweetness which is what matters to me since like he's constantly there?

Saberleaf · OP · 6 years ago

That sounds interesting, I have to admit Elliot is really adorable kind of like a mix between Penny and Leah. How does Elliot behave after marriage?

3 upvotes on reddit
WickedWisp · 6 years ago

I think he leaves to go to the beach and write in his old cabin on rare occasions. Or he wanders around town and vitits the saloon. He doesnt leave very much, but when he does he's always back at bedtime. And unlike the other spouses he keeps so much personally, I know concerned ape pushed out an update to add more personality after marriage, but Elliott still feels more alive and real than the others.

4 upvotes on reddit
Cebrenren · 6 years ago

Harvey's 10 heart event melted my heart, and he's such an adorable loving husband so I want to recommend him! I'm not sure if the fem mod changes dialogue, but the original at least is definitely worth a go if you want to feel loved and appreciated (after marriage that is, before that his dialogue is pretty dull)

I married him because I think his over the top is funny. And I found his 14 heart event laugh out loud funny. He’s sweet but doesn’t give a lot of presents. Morning coffee sometimes. Rarely dinner on rainy nights. I almost never get dinner from him. He feeds the animals and waters crops. But I have sprinklers and upgraded buildings so it’s useless except for the dogs water bowl.

On a similar note the only reason Linus is so well liked and well received by the community is because he is who you see and talk to the most due to trips to the mine

How to marry Elliot in stardew valley

Here’s how to marry Elliot in Stardew Valley:

  1. Build Friendship:

    • Increase your friendship with Elliot by giving him gifts he loves. Some of his favorite gifts include:
      • Crab Cakes
      • Duck Feather
      • Lobster
      • Pomegranate
      • Tom Kha Soup
    • You can also increase friendship by talking to him daily and completing quests.
  2. Reach 8 Hearts:

    • You need to reach at least 8 hearts of friendship with Elliot before you can propose. You can check your friendship level by looking at the heart icons next to his name in the social tab.
  3. Craft a Wedding Ring:

    • To propose, you need a Mermaid's Pendant, which you can obtain after you have at least 1 heart with the Wizard and have repaired the boat at the beach.
    • Visit the Old Mariner at the beach on rainy days to buy the Mermaid's Pendant for 1,000g.
  4. Propose:

    • Once you have the Mermaid's Pendant, go to Elliot and give it to him. If he accepts, you will be engaged!
  5. Wedding Ceremony:

    • After proposing, wait for a few days, and you will receive a letter from your character's spouse about the wedding. The ceremony will take place at your farmhouse.

Tips:

  • Make sure to keep your friendship high after marriage by continuing to give gifts and talking to Elliot daily.
  • Consider using the "Lover's Pendant" if you want to marry him quickly, but it requires a higher friendship level.

Enjoy your life together in Stardew Valley!
