TL;DR Cuphead supports local couch co-op multiplayer, but does not offer native online multiplayer. However, there are ways to play online using third-party software like Steam Remote Play or Parsec.
Local Couch Co-op
Cuphead is designed for local multiplayer, allowing two players to team up on the same console or PC. On consoles like Xbox, you can enable co-op mode by simply connecting a second controller and pressing start [5:1]. This setup is straightforward and allows both players to enjoy the game together without any additional configuration
[5:3].
Online Multiplayer Options
Although Cuphead does not support native online multiplayer, players have found workarounds using third-party applications. For PC users, Steam Remote Play and Parsec are popular choices that allow you to stream the game to another player [2:4]
[4:5]. These services essentially let one person host the game while the other connects remotely, sending their input back to the host. While this method can introduce some lag, it provides an option for playing with friends who aren't physically present
[4:1]
[4:3].
Limitations and Considerations
It's important to note that using third-party software for online multiplayer can result in latency issues, which may affect gameplay, especially in a timing-sensitive game like Cuphead [4:3]. Additionally, setting up these services might require some technical know-how, as not all users find them intuitive
[4:4]. Despite these challenges, they remain viable options for those eager to play Cuphead with friends over the internet.
Console-Specific Instructions
For console players, enabling co-op mode involves connecting a second controller to the same device. Unfortunately, online co-op is not available on consoles either [5:3], and there's no indication that online features will be added in the future due to potential input delay complications
[5:5].
Is there anyone willing to play and complete the storyline of cuphead with me. I am finding for a buddy to play with. I never played this game before
Sadly, the game doesn’t have any online multiplayer. The only way to play with someone else is via couch co-op
Have fun attempting not to rage quit and throw the controller! This game is amazing though.
Cuphead is only avaliable on multiplayer via couch co-op.
Hi, I'm planning on buying this game, and I wanna play online with my friends. Is this doable?
Simply no :) but you can play 2 couch coop its kinda fun but run&gun levels the camera is not the best.
No, but for PC you can do Steam Remote Play or Parsec and for PS4-5 you can do Share Play.
How do u do share play
Ok thank you
Com9
Parsec
I dunno if you can play online multiplayer, but I know on console with 2 controllers you can
Just a question
It can
Connect a control to the pc, you configure it and on the map or in a game you hit "start" and that's it
I need one controller and one pc?
Is there a way to do online multiplayer and if so what is the easiest way it do it?
Unfortunately there’s no way
Lookup Parsec, I've heard it works for some people.
Yeah it does, but it has a tiny bit of lag. Unfortunately in a game as time sensitive as this, it makes it very difficult, even if it's only a few milliseconds off.
I tried and couldn't figure out how to use it. had no instructions and no videos showing how to do it.
I looked up a video on how to set it up with my friend. Essentially 1 person acts as a host, streaming the game to the other person, and the inputs of the other person are sent to the host.
It worked pretty well when I tried, but both are upload speeds are pretty bad so it was fairly laggy.
Hi!
How can I enable coop mode? I don't see any option there..
is online coop going to ever happen?
I would guess not because of the difficulty being possibly upped greatly with input delay
bummer. i bought the game with hopes of playing online with friends.
Just connect another controller to the same Xbox and your good to go.
Unfortunately you can not play online if that's what you are looking for.
Should be able to just turn on your second controller and press start.
I feel like this would be a major selling point to the game, and would also add a large amount of material for modders to work with on PC, as many people don’t use the local multiplayer functionality, especially this far away from launch. This could have also been a good way to branch off to different multiplayer gamemodes, like king of the hill or some other stuff. So much missed potential...
Well there is steam remote play that you can use
what is that?
Yeah my friend has it and Im mad we can’t play together
Right?
I use parsec
Just use Parsec
I want to play Cuphead with my sister but idk how to enable two player. Can anyone help me?

We did that… is not working. We can play two players on every other game except cuphead….

So, me and my friend wanted to play, and we bought the game thinking that we could play it online...
Are you playing on steam? is so, you can use remote play together to play co op, only one of you need to have the game, you can also use a app called Parsec, to play co op with your friend, it works with any local co op game.
Well we tried but it didn't work, and we have played other games with remote play so it was off. We also tried with parsec, but every guide was talking about an arcade mode, which is not available anymore since April this year.
Both of us already bought the game... but honestly we just wanted to play even if we paid double the price for it, so that's any other alternative?
I see, remote play works fine in this game for me,you dont have to use arcade mode, just connect directly into your friend PC, or he connects into yours, its in a tab called computer, after he connects, click his name and give him the rights to the controller or mouse and keyboard ( only 1 player can use M,K) and thats it, just play it.
The base game has no support for online multiplayer
We have been using remote play and parsec. Parsec works better.
the game is cool with mutiplayer
i love this game
dickrider head ahhh head ahh ahh dickrider
what
AYO
i feel like i've tried every possible solution. parsec, which apparently closed the arcade function last year. steam remote play that kicks out my friend after 30 seconds. putting on a VPN because my school's wifi could be blocking him.
is there a way to play cuphead online? both of us have the game (he got it during the summer sale so it was cheaper) i'm desperate
Parsec doesn't work anymore??
I tried it for 10-15 minutes, they took away the arcade mode in 2023
