Uninstalling mods in Subnautica can be a straightforward process, but it depends on how the mods were installed. Here are some steps and considerations based on various user experiences:
Using Vortex from Nexus Mods
Disable Mods in Vortex: If you installed your mods using Vortex, you can disable them by clicking on "Enabled" on the left side of Vortex, which will change to "Disabled" [1:3].
Delete Mod Files Manually: After disabling the mods in Vortex, navigate to your Subnautica/QMods
directory and manually delete any remaining mod files [1:2]. This ensures that no residual files affect your game.
Re-enable if Necessary: Once you've cleaned up the directory, you can re-enable the mods in Vortex if needed [1:2].
Manual Deletion
If you installed mods manually or through another method, you can remove them by deleting the mod files directly from the QMods
folder. Simply locate the folder where the mods are stored and delete the unwanted mod files [2:1]
[5:4].
Handling Persistent Mod Issues
In cases where mods seem to persist despite attempts to uninstall them, users have suggested checking for issues with mod management platforms like http://mod.io, as errors there can cause mods to remain subscribed or active [3:1]
[3:4]. In such situations, it might be necessary to clear cache files or contact support for the platform.
Alternative Solutions
For persistent issues with mod management systems, consider switching to alternative mod managers like Mint, which may offer better performance and fewer issues [3:3].
By following these steps, you should be able to successfully uninstall mods in Subnautica and ensure your game runs smoothly without unwanted modifications.
I decided to install some mods, but im just wondering if there is a way to easily enable/disable them, I installed the mods through Vortex from nexus mods?
Click on the "Enabled" on the left side of Vortex. It'll change to "Disabled".
I did try that, but when I launched subnautica the mod was still active
Then you have it installed twice.
You should reset it. In Vortex, change them ALL to Disable.
Then go into your Subnautica/QMods directory and DELETE anything left in there.
Then, Re-Enable them in Vortex.
Same way you installed them just remove them from the folder
Will it work if I just press delete?
I guess so
Thanks
I've been trying for a while to uninstall some mods now, and it's genuinely getting on my nerves, at first I did it through the game, but whenever I would click the unsubscribe button, the mod would instantly just subscribe itself again. And now that I closed the game and tried to do it in my browser it's doing the same again. Do I have to go to the gamefiles to uninstall the mods I don't want or am I stuck with inactive mods clogging up my list?
To completely remove mods and prevent them from being loaded, right-click Deep Rock Galactic in your Steam Library, select "Properties," and enter "-disablemodding" (without quotation marks) in the Launch Options field. Launch the game and exit after loading into the Space Rig. Then, remove the "-disablemodding" option from the Launch Options to enable modding again.
Meanwhile you need also delete the mod.io folder located at "C:\Users\YourUser\AppData\Local" as well as C:\Public\mod.io just to be sure.
Next time you launch the game your newly subscribed mods should load to the rig as usual.
I did all of this, but it didn't help with my problem. I've got 4 Mods I don't want to be subscribed to anymore, and anytime I press the unsubscribe button they instantly subscribe themselves again. I can disable them all fine, but I still don't want them in my mod list.
I launched the game without mods, deleted both mod.io files, and relaunched the game with mods, they all go reinstalled, but I still can't uninstall the 4 I don't want.
90% sure its a mod.io issue, but I'm hoping someone here got a clue to fix this.
Realistically? Swap to Mint. It’ll take 15 minutes, and you’ll never have to deal with issues like this again. And you’ll probably get better performance, too.
I agree that it sounds like an issue on mod.io’s side though. If you’re not interested in switching, give them a bit of time before trying again.
I play on console, and when they updated the game’s mod system by combining mods and the Creation Club, I tried to remove the mods for a normal playthrough. However, in the library section, after deleting the mods, they still remain, and I can’t seem to fully remove them.
Hopefully I explained properly I will obviously answer any questions if anyone has any
So, U8 is coming up and I just recently hopped in the B&S train. I’m wanting to uninstall the mods because I heard that it can mess with future updates. How do I remove all of my mods?
If you installed them with Nexus, just purge the mods (on the top bar), and don't deploy them again until they are updated.
Thanks! I did install them with nexus.
So now you know ^^
What dose purge mean?
Purge is just another word for remove or delete. (If you're asking for the meaning)
Wait im kinda new to this still I installed a lot of mods with nexus but im trying to get rid of some of them would I half to go into my mods folder and find the mod and delete it?
Yeah, delete all the mods you dont want installed
I don’t get it as I uninstalled the mods but they are still in my game?
Alright thx I appreciate it
[deleted]
Can't you just deactivate them with mmm?
Did you delete everything in your BenInEx folder?
Just delete all your Gorilla Tag files and uninstall/reinstall. That will confirm the removal of the mods but will not affect your ban in any way.
I can't seem to uninstall my mods I deleted my mod manager, manually deleted mods from the mod manager and uninstalled and reinstalled the game but they keep reinstalling themselves, Any tips?
I assume you mean BG3MM? https://wiki.bg3.community/Tutorials/Mod-Use/How-to-remove-mods
Thanks for the advice but unfortunately it did not work
What mods keep reinstalling themselves?
I want to go back to using nexus mods and not the ones in game. But now most of them wont uninstall at all?? Even when restarting the game they are still there. What can I do?
You'll likely need to rollback to the last version before the January update. If you're on Steam you can use the following guide: https://steamcommunity.com/app/990080/discussions/0/599643178892577900/ .

I had trouble with this too a while back. If you go into your documents folder there should be a sub folder for Hogwarts Legacy. Inside that is the mods folder. Delete everything in that and it should be gone from your game now.
I installed the wrong mod and it doesn’t work so ill install the new Dlss mod. However, the game crashes when I try to launch my save. Is there a way to uninstall the old mod?
Nah if you have it thru steam do this: Right click starfield in your steam library -> click properties -> Installed Files -> Verify Integrity of Game Files. It'll take a while to check what's wrong and it'll automatically reset the original files so all mods will be deleted
if my games work fine with all the mods but i want to verify integrity because the game doesnt show up on my xbox activity status, will it remove my mods or can i verify and keep playing with my mods unchanged?
you can try just deleting mod folders in starfield carpet, then verify the integrity of game files
still need help? i managed to fully reset the files after messing them up yesterday
How can I do this?
Right click starfield in your steam library -> click properties -> Installed Files -> Verify Integrity of Game Files. It'll take a while to check what's wrong and it'll automatically reset the original files so all mods will be deleted
whats the solution? just a fresh install?
No, I managed to solve the problem.
How
Yes... you just delete the files you added with the mod.
Really? I tried doing this with the dlss mod and the game would refuse to even start up.
Hi everyone!
I never used Mods before this recent update. I installed a few to see what they were like, but decided I won’t play a full game with them. I clicked “uninstall” on the specific mod, it asked me to confirm so I did, and…..nothing. It still sits there with the button to click saying “uninstall” and it remains in my installed list.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Ich hab ein ähliches Problem.. Ich konnte zwar die Mods löschen die ich wollte aber im Spiel sind sie immer noch drin. Ich weiss nicht mehr was ich machen sollte
Update: Here's what I tried.
I deleted the mod save. Copied my original save again. But the mods were still there.
I went into the Hogwarts Legacy files on my PC. There was a file named "Mods". I deleted the whole file. Then I emptied my recycle bin.
Opened the game and went to mods. They were still there, however, now I'm able to uninstall them!
Hogwarts Legacy actually stores its Data in 2 folders both hidden. One is in .appdata the other is a hidden directory in /Program both are nicely named Hogwartslegacy. You also need to disable Sync if you are using the Steam Version.
Ah thank you! I did manage to figure it out, and now I have to do it right, and only get one cheat at a time, until it breaks again lol.
Delete the main mod folder to uninstall all mods.
Then go to you pc "AppData\Local\Hogwarts Legacy", I deleted the mod file here as well.
Then go to "AppData\Local\Hogwarts Legacy\Saved\SaveGames" and delete "ModOperations.sav" and "ModTutorial.sav". That will reset even the mod manager tutorials
That worked for me, it unistalled all mods and they disappeared from the in game manager, all the deleted folders were automaticaly recreated upon opening the game. Had no issues yet
How do you get to app data? I'm new to pc gaming.
Just open file explorer and enter %appdata%
You deserve only good things. I stopped playing because of this issue and this finally saved it! Thank you!
Just spread the knowledge when possible, I only found this cause my game was fricked up and I didn't find any answers too, i just tried to delete every single possible file with "mod" in its name lol
10/10 this worked! Thank you so much!
I'm having the same issue. I stupidly installed a bunch of mods at once, and now there's random explosions by me every 30 seconds or so 😂
I'm going to restart the game and see if that works. If not, I'm going to look in the files. However, I have no clue what I'm doing lol.
If all else fails, I'm just going to re-copy my original save, and try mods one at a time.
similar issue, except it’s now not letting me into the game. only used in-game “Play Mods” feature, nothing external. also new as hell to pc. someone pls help :(
