TL;DR Unlock new weapons using Warbonds with medals earned from missions. DLC weapons require purchase.
Warbonds System
In Helldivers 2, weapons are primarily unlocked through the Warbonds system. You earn medals by completing mission objectives, which can then be spent on acquiring new weapons and equipment [1:1],
[3:2]. The Warbonds function similarly to a battle pass, where you progressively unlock items as you spend medals
[3:1]. To access this system, go to the Acquisition screen (press R on PC)
[3:2].
Strategems and Requisitions
Aside from primary weapons, you can also unlock strategems, which are special abilities or artillery strikes that can be called during missions. These are unlocked using requisition points, another currency earned by playing the game [4:1],
[4:2]. Requisition points can be found at points-of-interest on the map and are awarded for completing missions
[4:2].
DLC Weapons
Some weapons in Helldivers 2 are part of DLC packs and can only be unlocked by purchasing these packs [2:1],
[2:3]. These DLC weapons are generally side-grades of the weapons you unlock through leveling up
[2:2].
Supercredits and Additional Content
Supercredits are another form of currency that can be used to unlock additional Warbonds and items. These credits can be purchased with real money or found during missions [4:1],
[4:2]. They offer more options for customization and unlocking content beyond what is available through standard gameplay progression.
Understanding the Game's Progression
Many players have expressed confusion about how weapon unlocks work due to the lack of detailed tutorials in the game [1:4],
[3:3]. It's important to explore the menus and understand the different currencies and systems in place to fully utilize the game's offerings.
I am a new player(lvl 5) and the game hasn’t told me anything about how to unlock new weapons. An answer would be much appreciated
You can unlock and buy weapons as you level up (you can see them in the part of the ship where you see the stratagems and ship upgrades)
Pretty easy, all you have to do is press R in the ship. You have to complete missions to get medals, and you spend said medals on the ”war bond”, which is what you see after pressing R. For stratagems, the ones you call down, those are next to the place where you spawn after a mission to the left iirc. They’re unlocked with “requesition”, the yellow stuff with an R on it. Also, in the warbond, you can also get armor, grenades, secondaries, capes, etc with the medals. To unlock more warbonds you can either but supercredits or grind them out in game. Hope this helps!
I’m just confused why the game doesn’t tell you
It says on the top of the screen, but there isn’t a tutorial of any kind so i get what you mean.
u have 2 kinds of weapons, your basic loadout this is unlocked in waRbonds (R button when on ship). Strategems that you call during mission unlocked in terminal on your ship (press E to intEract). Warbonds need medals, strategems need credits (money) to be unlocked.
Thanks. I was just confused because the game doesn’t tell you.
I bought helldivers on the ps4 and when i try to equip weapons it says they are a reinforcement pack and i need to pay for them. Can i get them any other way?
The DLC weapons are side-grades of what you will unlock while leveling, with the "meta" guns being unlocked with levels
No, the DLC equipment can only be unlocked by buying them.
If you mean how to unlock more than just the starter stuff, you get some by leveling up and you get more by completing planets.
>Can i get them any other way?
No.
Dlc weapons are only from buying the dlcs
I have not the faintest idea how progression works in this game and it did not tell me either
The war medals, the bright yellow currency you get for completing mission objectives, can be spent to acquire new primary weapons, secondary weapons, grenades, among other things.
Go to the Aquisition screen (Hotkey R on PC) and you'll be able to spend your medals in a pseudo-battlepass system. Keep spending medals there and you'll progressively unlock new equipment and cosmetics.
Through the counter on the left underneath screen with news on. Look for secondary weapons... or through warbonds in acquisitions. In the warbonds you will need the Golden skull medals to purchase
you gain weapons primarily through medals you earn playing the game. You earn strategem from requisition points you earn by once again, playing the game.
🤣🤣🤣
I'm level 5 and was wondering the same thing yesterday evening. Unlocked the diligence, is it any good? What is a good assault rifle early on to unlock?
Guns can be purchased with medals, from the battle passes- called "Warbonds" in this game.
Hello everyone, I’m not sure how to start this so i apologize if i come off as impolite or rude but i’ve recently downloaded helldivers 2 (specifically friday) and I have been having a really great time but while fun is good i feel kind of lost i don’t really know how to get new weapons or get certain currency to purchase weapons of other stratagems so i’m wondering if any if the more experienced players can give me any tips? Any kind of tips really as i’m a new player.
TLDR: new player and i need help
There are a few currencies in the game:
1- Requisitions
Source: Found at points-of-interest on the map and earned by completing missions.
Used to buy: Strategems. These are weapons and artillery strikes that you can call in during play. Can be purchased at the ship terminal.
2- Supercredits
Source: Purchase for real life $ or found at points-of-interest.
Used to buy: Warbonds and items from the Supercredit store. Can be accessed in the Aquisitions menu.
3- Samples
Source: Points-of-interest. Level 1-3 have common samples, level 4-6 adds rare samples, level 7+ adds super rare samples.
Used to buy: Ship modules/upgrades available at the ship terminal.
4- Medals
Source: Points-of-interest and earned by completing missions.
Used to buy: Items contained within any warbond you have purchased or the starter warbond. Available in the Aquisitions menu.
Important:
Requisitions, super credits, and medals are gained by all players immediately when they are picked up on the map. They are not split. Every player gets the full amount.
Samples are only gained if you are holding them upon successful extraction. These are also not split. Every player gets the full amount regardless of who brought them on the shuttle.
Thanks for all for the feedback guys this really help me understand the game a bit more as i skipped majority of the tutorial(i was just too excited to play)
You can unlock new armor and weapons with the warbonds, you start with a 10 page warbond unlocked for free, you also have multiple 3 page ones you can unlock with super credits that can either be bought with real money or found during missions.
In the warbonds you use medals to unlock things, you get medals by finishing missions and can also find them during missions.
For the stratagems, a couple are in some warbonds, but for the majority they are unlocked using requisitions (the yellow R) these are given while playing, the same as for xp.
There are also samples that you can find during missions, the higher the difficulty of the mission is, the more sample you will be able to find and the higher rarity samples you will find. To fully obtain the samples you need to extract from the mission with them ( they are shared between players).
Samples are used to upgrade your ship to unlock passives that you will always benefit from, like shorter stratagem cooldowns, more damage and so on.
I know this is a stupid question but I have been using the default guns since I got the game a week ago and they haven’t been the best so is. There any way of getting different guns at the level I’m at (level 5)
Battle pass unlocks them
Guns are unlocked from the Warbonds with medals.
Equip them from your armoury or when selecting your gear before you dive.
I just did it thank you so much 🙏🙏
I just started Helldivers 2. Do I have to unlock the starting shotgun? If so, howwww
Starting shotgun? You mean the first shotgun in the free warbond?
You get medals from completing missions, then you use those medals to acquire items from warbonds
You don't NEED to get the Punisher, but you can if you want
Depends on playstyle
Play some missions, missions give you medals, which you can use to purchase new weapons from the acquisitions tab.
Are there weapons looked behind a paywall because I cant really find much info on that. I played a few rounds and it seems that way. It would be a shame.
The weapons arent insane or unbalanced. They actually all suck besides the incendiary shotgun and thats only good for bugs
Nope, you earn premium currency in game for free with no cap!
Currently there are two ways:
finding a supply drop (gold beacons) with super credits in them
using the free battle pass to unlock 100 at a time
Hope this helps! Also battle passes in this game are non-fomo and will never leave even when new ones come out
I LOVE the fact that they are leaving current battle passes in. The FOMO of the coming and going battle passes make me not want to play the game. Those games start to feel like a second job because you feel obligated to play it even when you aren't feeling it
You can grind the credits to unlock the premium warbond.
And the free warbond comes wirh premium currency.
And the premium warbond comes with even more premium currency
how do you do that? i can't find the option to buy the premium warbond with credits
They mean you can find Super credits in the game world, in the same crates you can find weapons in sometimes and in other various buildings some of which need 2 players to open, you get 750 from the free pass and then you can find more in increments of 10, sure it might take a bit but they your also earning medals the whole time so you'll be able to buy a lot on the pass all at once
Of course the game has a battlepass system. Why wouldn't it?!
Kinda annoyed that a game I paid $40 for has a large chunk of content behind a paywall.
However I'm only 4hrs in and have 35 medals so maybe it's a feasible grind to unlock it all naturally.
Edit: After some more time playing I'm rethinking this. I'm already half way to the 1000 credits I need and I find more in pretty much every game. The cost of the premium battlepass is a non-issues. You can be lazy and buy it but you'll still need to play to get all the medals. I'm thinking that despite my initial impression that they may have got this jsut about right.
Bunkers with 2 button entrqnces to open and fallen spaceships/pods have a high chance of awarding Super Cred
This aspect I totally get and honestly after a few days playing I feel like I've already gotten $40 worth of enjoyment out of this.
I probably won't buy the premium, as I don't think it has much inherent value based on contents, but I'll most likely throw some money at MTX later and happily support the developer that way.
I'm now at ~850 premium credits and haven't finished the regular battlepass. I doubt I'll actually 'need' to spend any money on this at all.
You can earn them through regular gameplay
So I’m back at playing Helldivers 2 again after months of not playing it and honestly glad I’m back cause I forgot how good the game is. I just want to know what are the weapons to use now since they nerfed and buffed weapons with the updates. Last time I played was when the first warbond pack came out. Is the sickle rifle still good? Give me some suggestions on primary weapons to use against automatons/bugs that people are using now and what strategem weapons too. I found out that the quasar luncher takes a long time to recharge now and the auto cannon is hella good now. Thanks!
Good:
Decent:
"Bad":
I think that you discount the standard liberator. It's a perfectly fine gun; marginally worse than the sickle maybe, but the DPS is fairly similar, it has no spin-up time, and you can keep firing for longer when accounting for reloads
I tried to be conservative because we know how this sub is, if I had to do it more based on what I think the list would look like this
OP:
Good:
Decent but not great (or niche):
We need a top like this but only with free warbond weapons.
Personally I feel like its burst DPS is too high and magazine too small, so it absolutely melts part of a patrol and leaves me on reload for the rest.
YMMV as I've always liked more powerful slower firing weapons. I also don't care for the new carbine (that doesn't mean it's "bad").
What you will usually see it Dominator or Scorcher on bots and Sickle or Incendiary breaker on bugs.
Most weapons however are viable, but this is the general pattern.
I've been maining the Scorcher, but yesterday I dropped down with the Diligence Counter Sniper. It is definitely viable if you can move around undetected.
Used to main Diligence too, but its weakness is no stagger on heavy and rocket devastators that are virtually impossible to deal with from front with that gun (at least with my aim), switched to eruptor and its great, even staggers rocket devastators so you can two shot them before they launch their salvo, and takes out scout striders with one groin shot. Only weakness are berserkers that get too close too soon.
DCS is very good for popping devastator heads.
Plasma punisher is clutch on bots the aoe locks down while squads. And it can 2 tap striders everytime.
The good weapons are the ones you enjoy playing, friend. Go try em and see what sticks with you.
Just use what weapon you like to use, most weapons are viable in some way
title.
The battle pass is free but the premium one is locked behind in game currency that can either be purchased, found in missions or unlocked through the free battle pass.
earn medals in game the unlock them via. the battlepass, I don't think there's an alternative way
We have no reason to believe it's an actual battlepass though, right? There's no time limit and all the Super Credits can be found in the field. Just grind to 1000 and buy it lol
imho its a battle pass. But the devs stated that a battlepass will *never* expire, you can play/unlock it wheneven the fuck you want, so there will be additional new ones in the future.
Super credits are not that hard to accumulate there are ones in the free warbond and you find them almost every mission I already have 700 just with free pass and missions.
I mean if you’re grinding for weapons then you’d be grinding for medals, and if you’re grinding for medals then you definitely would be trying to find the medal crates that are scattered around the map, which also include super credits, you also have super credits on the free Warbond, so by the time you’re done with it you’d have more than enough to get the premium warbonds without spending a single dime, so the answer is just to play the game.
how are they doing those tricks with (what im assuming to be) the senator?
hold r
When I hold R it just brings up the weapon options
Something must be bugged with controller options, my guy just stares at the pistol until I release the button
For console?
Is this the Riddler's loadout?
New meta just dropped
Call general Brasch
What are we? Some kind of Helldivers 2 or something?
Riddle me this you Terminid scum!
R is for Repair games files
Oh I will, mid game it started spazzing.
