TL;DR
Basic Strategy
The foundation of winning at blackjack is understanding and implementing the basic strategy. This involves using a strategy chart that outlines the optimal decisions for every possible hand you could be dealt based on mathematical probabilities [3]. These charts are readily available online and can significantly increase your odds by guiding you on when to hit, stand, double down, or split pairs
[4:5].
Probability and Decision Making
Understanding the probabilities involved in each decision is crucial. For example, knowing the chance of busting or the likelihood of the dealer making a hand can guide whether you should hit or stand [5:1]. Surrendering, when available, can also be a strategic move, as it allows you to minimize losses on hands with particularly poor odds
[5:2].
Bankroll Management
Effective bankroll management is essential to sustain play over time and avoid significant losses. It's important to decide on a betting spread and stick to it, such as a 1-5 unit spread for double-deck games [5:10]. Bringing an appropriate number of units to the table can help manage variance and reduce the risk of going broke during a session
[5:12].
Knowing When to Walk Away
One of the hardest parts of gambling is knowing when to leave. Many players fall into the trap of chasing losses or getting greedy after a winning streak [1:6]. Successful players often set win/loss limits before starting a session and stick to them, ensuring they leave the casino with their profits intact
[1:8].
Avoiding Common Pitfalls
Even experienced players can make mistakes, such as deviating from the basic strategy due to gut feelings or perceived luck [5:8]. It's important to remain disciplined and adhere to the strategy, as deviations can erode your edge over time. Additionally, understanding that blackjack is a game of skill and chance will help manage expectations and maintain a healthy approach to the game.
I was feeling frisky and about to leave the casino and wandered into the high limit room and saw an empty table for double deck BJ. The minimum floored me ; $200 a hand.
I thought it would be fun to play one hand and see what happens. I get pitched the cards and look down at K9, dealer showing an 8. I stand and the dealer flips a 10, so nice $200 win for me
I decided I was either going to win a lot of just leave even so I stayed there. I proceeded to win 5 total hands in a row. Including a very scary 66 vs a dealer 5, split get another 6. 3 hands with $600 out have a 16, a 13 and and a 19 (I know I was suppose to double the 9 vs a 5 but I was too nervous to drop that much more on the table)
I got a nice picture with my orange chip ($1k). Left the table +$1350 after a $50 tip to the dealer
The high hasn't worn off yet. I needed to talk type I drove because I'm so amped up
Hope you guys are having similar luck
Vegas a couple years ago I lost about 40k in a week period of time ....
Won in back in an hour with my last 300 . And this was on a table that wasn't high limit . Just didn't lose a hand in a shoe after pressing all my winnings until I hit the max bet which I believe was 5k.
Sad that I didn't win anything in the trip , but hell of comeback in right before I left for airport .
I wanted to keep pushing it so bad. I kept thinking about pressing my bet after each win
That’s one hell of a redemption arc pulling that off right before heading out is wild.
I feel like we are just paying for this type of rush
I recently went on a run, that I know for a fact isn’t usual in BJ. I’m a rookie in BJ and should have upped bets but kept my bets steady at the min $25 hands. I bought in for $200 and left with $600. I was winning almost every hand and got only 1 BJ. The times I did lose I upped bets to $100 to make my way up and I hit 3/4 times. It was a surreal to even leave up haha
Nice. Seemingly once in a lifetime for a nominal gain. Remember the feeling but also quit, full stop
Oh yeah, definitely not going to be a regular thing
That’s a 2 week paycheck for me so it feels super nice to walk away. Part of me thought I should have kept playing until I lost but I’m glad I left
Good job
It goes south 8 times out of ten as so many chase $25 losses into $500 losses
It’s hard to grasp someone did win and walked. Be the prime Example
Great job leaving and the hardest part for most.. drive home happy instead of miserable!! I always loved the feeling of depositing the casinos money in the bank the next day. I try to run when I feel it turn. Even if up only a couple hundred or thousands.. because I’ve made the mistake of ignoring it and pressing and always lose.. the difference between degenerate gamblers and side hustle gamblers is exactly that!! The degens always stay and blow it back, always see more no matter the amount up. Hats watching friends like that and never ends well.
Congratulations on your little run... i dont play blackjack much unless in the mood and it has to be just me or 1-2 players at most. Im mostly a baccarat guy.
LITTLE STORY: i worked at a casino about 15 yrs ago in California while finishing my engineering degree. Long story short.... a guy had a awesome run.... his chips built up to 15k in 2hrs. He even called his gf to tell her about his luck and how he was gonna buy her the handbag she wanted.
I think he started around maybe 2k.... he's estatic + gambling euphoria/greed/invincibility starts to check it. Thats a dangerous loop where u get a bad beat/ play a hand u shouldnt/ experiment on a whim etc.
The guy loses every single dime in about 1.5 hrs 💀.... he looked devastated... he even said " what am i gonna tell my gf.... shes gonna be pissed" .... ya think!?
So I was playing Blackjack, and I keep losing. Do you have any strategies you may share? Also, who are the best survivor and hunter for you to utilize in Blackjack?
Hank! Don’t abbreviate “Blackjack,” Hank!
Ngl I didn’t even NOTICE
Don't call it that 😭😭 But use chase hunters, chip hunters are also good. For hunters, I usually use Nightmare, but I've seen lots of Mary's. For surv I usually use Toy Merchant. Faro Lady is a popular pick too. It's fine to take characters with limited items, since they get refreshed every round, but I haven't seen a lot of coords, so that's sonething to consider.
You can try bringing counters to certain hunters, I've seen lots of Nightmares, Marys, and Geishas. I've also seen a few Fools Golds, and a couple Naiads.
Please right Blackjack next time... 💀💀

Is this a no double after split chart? I noticed hit 22v2, 22v3, 33v2, 33v3, 44v5, and 44v6 are all hit.
What’s with double A2v4 and A3v4, and hit A6v3 (instead of double)?
And double 11vA?
Ignore this and use wizard of odds to create a basic strategy chart relevant to the rules you are playing.
Man ngl this is dope now people are gonna understand the game better like us blackjack masters TuT Only few people know about how to outplay the opponent's hand and cards.
That would be true if people cared to even learn it. Most will take 1 look at this table and think it takes a genuis to apply it. I'll be surprised if even a few people take this on board, because the ones that realise it's a math game have already learnt basic strategy. I'd love to see a time where we can use all the player advantages of BJ though, to increase that winrate just 1% with double down, split pairs etc but when I think of how those may be inplemented, it's a coding nightmare.
If being a blackjack master means using this chart, then everyone can be one.
Did you compute it or did you just guess at the strategy?
I didn't compute this, I found some basic strategy charts online and adapted them to this version of blackjack. It's all accurate though.
The problem with this is that the odds for most blackjack games are different to dank memer's implementation of blackjack, specifically due to the random multiplier payouts.
I mean if you just search up blackjack strategy it'll come up with a lot of charts that are the same.
One thing that people always miss: if your Ace turns into a 1, it ain't soft anymore. It's hard as a rock! It's weird because you'll have idk a soft 15, hit and get a 10 for a hard 15.
Just a question,is k/q/j count as 10?
I dont get how this is so accurate, but it works almost everytime. tysm. I will wonder how you did this.
No problem! I can explain why it works if you're interested?
Thanks mate!
I started to learn this hobby two and a half years ago. Only in the last six months have I gotten to the point where I'm pretty dang OK at it. I know I don't play a perfect game. My deck estimation probably needs the most help. I tend to stand on 15-17 against a dealer's ace instead of surrendering since I know they don't have a blackjack. Occasionally I'll split 2's when I shouldn't.
With all that being said I'm still making a nice profit. I actually have made more with this hobby than my actual job. The last two weeks now, I've heard on three different occasions when I color up and leave that someone wants my lucky seat. Each time I got a laugh out of it.
I never understood how surrender is a better choice than riding it out. Your bet is already on the table.
Because each hand has an expected probability of winning/losing, so if you have a hand like 16 v T, the odds of you winning the hand are (I don't remember the exact values) like 44%, so the house is expected to win 56% of your bet that is “already on the table”. Now, if you surrender, the expected value of surrendering is always 50%, so would you rather lose 56% of your bet by standing, or 50% by just giving up a losing hand
And I don’t understand why people stand on 15/16 when surrender is available
Either hit it or surrender you coward
Just take the time to calculate the probability and you will understand. What’s the probability of the dealer making a hand? What’s the probability that you bust? What’s the probability that you’ll beat the dealer for each non-bust card that you could draw. The exercise should take you about 5 minutes.
Sounds like you probably dont have a winning game but are just lucky.
You’re not an AP if you don’t follow basic strategy just because you feel like it
So I'll play one hand out of let's say 150 incorrectly and you think I don't have a winning game?
What bet split do you use? And how many units do you bring to the table per night? Im starting but this points make me think. I bring 100 units and bet split of 1-5
100 units is decent, especially with a 1-5 spread. I’ve lost over 100 units in a session multiple times but I run a 1-10 at minimum. As far as your spread goes, 1-8 is generally the lowest recommended on a shoe game unless you’re playing for comps or something. For DD 1-5 is fairly common.
I play 6 D with good rules. im going to try a high bet spred. how much units do you think its a good bankroll number for a game like yours maybe 300 units or more?.
BS = Basic Strategy, RH = Surrender if possible, otherwise hit (which is listed in basic strategy.)
Yeah I know. It's a rare hand where this situation is met. At that point I've resigned to losing that bet.
I'll still take insurance at tc+3 though.
Winning players, professionals, and APs alike!
I have been playing Blackjack in an online casino exclusively since March. I am playing it like a business, tracking it like an investment on a spreadsheet. I have a return on investment of 18% and a bankroll appreciation of over 1000%. What an amazing game. I am approaching this with a short term hit and run approach. I would like to hear from others who are doing similar things in online casinos.
Oh boy, you are making the biggest rookie mistake you could possibly make with online gambling. That mistake is thinking you can make money off of this. You have simply gotten very lucky, that's it. There is no method to beating the online casinos.
Your sample size is not enough. You haven't even gotten 1000 hands documented and you're assuming that's going to extrapolate out into the future. I got news for you, IT WILL NOT. Proper blackjack simulations are played out over 100s of thousands of hands and the math is not in your favor.
The issue with your "method" is that there is going to come a session where you will get absolutely COOKED. There will be a session that you will win almost zero hands. But because you are so convinced you can make money, you will probably chase (thinking you'll win it back) and then all of the money you won will get wiped out. It is statistically guaranteed with enough hands played that you will hit a horrendous stretch of hands.
The only thing that has happened here is that you've gotten extremely lucky and started documenting during some positive blackjack variance. The negative variance is coming and it will be very ugly for you.
hhahhahahahah. Thanks for your vote of confidence. That is why it is called gambling. I am on my way to 1000 games. Then we shall see.
Thanks for the prediction. So far yours has not arrived.
Which Online Casino's do you like best for playing Blackjack? I have been playing really well also, I turned a free dollar into over $100 on Chumba & into $44 on Stake.us.
I am just curious which places you like playing best, because some of them seem like they are straight rigged.
Nice work buddy, I got some more sites in my bio with dailies you can up on blackjack also
I use Sports Interaction. They are well known as a sports-book. I was never good at sports so decided to try their casino. It certainly cannot be rigged, as I am winning over 88% of my sessions. I am playing mostly the Random Number Generated games but have started adding in the occasional real dealer session. I have been with them for years. They pay out fast too. The last time I withdrew about 2 am and had my money by the time I woke up around noon.
I like to personally play the total deposit amount I make into 15 equally split games
Thanks. I do the same things. My casino has several computer Blackjack games. I spread the funds throughout all of them. I recently started playing real dealers. These are great but the buy in minimum is a little steep for me.
Yeah some the buy ins for live dealer are definitely a little steep when your just depositing any amount under like $200
Lol 😂
What is so funny?
Because you can’t win in the long run no matter what you think. You’re just running +EV there’s no legit strategy to win unless you are cheating
Roughly 42%. Norm Wattenberger actually ran a simulation for the win:loss:push rate Google How Blackjack Works by Norm Wattenberger, it is in his free online book
The average expectation is negative. The only +EV way to play blackjack is employing counting strategies (with bet spreads relative to the true count), along with deviations (illustrious 18) and basic strategy
Depends on the rules. Different blackjack games have tiny rule variations which can help or hurt the player. Different games may also have different basic strategy charts.
The very best rules I’ve seen let you basically breakeven with perfect play. The worst rules can be around 2% edge for the house. NEVER play 6:5 blackjack.
Win? No young one, you must merely survive.
Survive? I feel it's more like slowly die. :)
Just flat betting and playing basic strategy isn't enough to win in the long run. You have to increase your bets when it's in your favor, and hope that you get the good cards. It doesn't always work out that way.
So I played my first game of blackjack yesterday at a festival and the min was $1 and max was $5 and took your money if you and dealer went even number (heard you keep your money at a real casino if that was the case.) started $30 and went even the whole day and lost $30 at the 2nd day :( pretty upsetting but I had fun and learned something. Do you guys have any tips? I usually hit on 11-14 but my luck is so bad when hitting because I get a face card often when I do it. Also if your at a low number and the dealer has a face do you basically have to push your luck and hit?
Check out wizardofodds.com for some great Basic Stragety advice. Long story shot, there is a optimal play for every hand in every game type, based on math.
Oh man, if losing $30 is upsetting to you, you may want to stay away.
Most games are $5 minimum or higher, and you can easily lose $30 in 5 minutes.
Well me being a teen and working $8 a hour part time is pretty upsetting but oh well.
So you were playing with money you can't afford to lose?
Maybe blackjack, or gambling in general, isn't for you.
Sounds harsh but you need to learn it.
Lol. I've gone from positive to broke so fast especially on bad splits and or double downs so many times that I don't even flinch anymore.
also don't play games where the dealer wins on ties
I don't think that chart is correct for any set of rules.
I don't know all of the BS changes for when the dealer wins ties, but I know that 12v4 is a hit for example. Your chart says to stand.
It's great you had fun playing Blackjack for the first time! It's a fantastic, enjoyable game that you'll find even more fun as you dig into its nuances and strategies.
Unfortunately, the Blackjack game you found at the festival is not worth playing; no amount of skill can reliably overcome the house edge afforded by the dealer winning pushes (ties). To improve your play, I suggest you follow these steps in order:
Learn the rules of the game. This can be accomplished through reading the Wikipedia article or this excellent page from the Wizard of Odds, a well known gambling mathematician.
Learn basic strategy, which is the best way to play every hand. Basic strategy is slightly different depending on the rules and number of decks in play, but 4+ decks dealer hits soft 17 is the probably the best place to start. Remember, Blackjack is not a guessing game. Every hand you receive has an optimal way to play it, regardless of superstition or gut feelings. While it may seem daunting at first, most of the plays are intuitive and can be learned quickly. After you master basic strategy, the house advantage will be between only 0.5-1.0% (i.e., for every $100 you wager, you will most likely lose between $0.50-$1.00) and you will be more skilled than 99% of Blackjack players.
Learn to count cards. This article by the Wizard of Odds gives a great introduction to why and how card counting works, using the most common and highly effective system known as "Hi-Lo." If you've made it to this point you should have absolutely memorized basic strategy and be able to conjure every play on the chart without hesitation. Then, you're ready to take the plunge, learn to count cards, and become a winning Blackjack player.
I hope this helps! More information is available on the Wizard of Odd's website, Wikipedia, and in countless Blackjack books. Good luck and have fun with the game of 21!
Thanks will check it out. Is playing blackjack on the phone or computer a good way to practice on your off time?
Common phone or online flash applications are great ways to practice the rules and basic strategy. It's important to keep in mind:
You won't know when you make a mistake. There is no feedback to inform you when you've made a play that violates basic strategy.
Many Blackjack apps are "player-biased" in that they purposely allow the player to win more hands than mathematically predicted. No one wants to play a game where they consistently lose!
In nearly all the Blackjack apps you'll find, the cards are effectively reshuffled and dealt completely randomly after every hand. This "continuous shuffle machine" effect makes it impossible to count cards since every round will be independent of the previous hand.
With those objections in mind, apps are great training tools for beginners, but you will eventually outgrow them if you continue to improve.
Thanks for this guide! Blackjack is underrated imo
If you are a hunter in the deciding round and your card are above 21 and you have enough chips don't chase the survival instead wait until 10 seconds remains and remove one of your cards to make them 21.
If you have cards with high value 10,8,7 try buying the red card lvl 1 and use it on someone.
Choose hunters that can make half damage like gamekeeper, spider, bombon And don't choose hunters like Joseph, gashia
Leave the blackjack player to the hunter, and if he wasn't able to get him then you may use the red card lvl 3 or the yellow /orange lvl 3 in the last ten seconds
Don't trust any player that use hell emper to kill blackjack player
In round 4 and above, stay away from all survivors they may throw cards on you
If u r the hunter and only 1 survivor left and u can go 21 u have to chase that survivor or keep the survivor busy and not getting to close
Why u ask ?
The kings and queens of blackjack season rank r smarter than leaving the hunter alone if he doesn't chase them on the last round they'll use 300 card or 500 to make u unable to make urself 21
This is an advice from the 20th King of blackjack
Hunters that u can u use to avoid getting hit by a card from the last survivor
Bq with her mirror
>Choose hunters that can make half damage like gamekeeper, spider, bombon And don't choose hunters like Joseph, gashia
while chip damage hunters are good, i disagree on geisha being a no-no.
it's a good idea to choose hunters with a strong no-presence chase, like geisha, gamekeeper, bloody queen, bonbon, vio, sculptor and so on - granted you're skilful enough with their abilities. if you fail with bq mirror's, then she's a bad choice, likewise for geisha if you can't aim butterflies properly. that being said, chip damage hunters give you more chips, but high mobility hunters like bloody queen can finish the job faster.
hunters that are not good for blackjack are hunter with weak early game or no chase at all - like wu chang, hell ember and photographer, since you no longer have blink and you have to wait some time to get presence.
that being said, always leave the blackjack player to the hunter as you mentioned. just keep a pass (or exchange card, less preferably) in preorder and if you see there's little time left and the blackjack player is still running loose, run there and buy the card to use it on them.
If I’m hunter in final round and can make my cards 21 I like to pretend to chase the last person and “play badly” keeping my distance and “getting lost” and missing hits so they don’t feel threatened to throw a shuffle or exchange or anything at me and aren’t close enough to throw a pass card :) then hit that 21 last second so they don’t have time to react
Can you explain why it’s better to choose hunters that deals half damage?
Knocking down =50 chips
Half damage =25
Gamekeeper can get 75 if he knocked down someone and used his skill
Joseph can only get 50 chips
Blackjack is underrated rip

Sorry! I linked the one I posted to my profile by mistake instead of this subreddit. The link is fixed! Thank you for letting me know!
I haven't ever played it before but it's been presented to me as though the house has some kind of advantage. I think I've heard it explained like there's some kind of strategy to it but then how is it i also hear about people getting banned from places from winning too much? How is it anything more than luck and a gut feeling when they dont know what you have in your hand either?
The way the rules are set up is that as long as full decks are in play, statistically the House will win, regardless of what strategy the players employ. This boils down to simple math (and casinos do math very well). In blackjack, the dealer does not make decisions: they take another card or hold their hand according to pre-set rules.
2 things could in theory turn odds in player's favor:
Card counting. Basically, the player needs to remember what cards have already been played and adjust their play based on that. Mathematically, it is possible for odds to become in player's favor. However, player needs to calculate things very fast in their head (casinos won't allow them to use computers). Casinos also make things much harder for players by using multiple decks. Finally, casinos can just ban a particularly good card counter.
If dealer makes a mistake and player points it out, the player automatically wins. So, trying to distract a dealer may tilt things in player's favor. However, dealers are trained to resist being distracted and if a dealer gets tired, they just switch with another dealer. And if a player tries too hard to distract a dealer, they will get banned (unless they distract dealer in a way that entertains other customers enough to make them good for business).
Because the player must act before the dealer, and if the player busts, they lose, even if the dealer also busts. This means, in effect, that the house wins in case of a tie.
There are several other small house advantages, but this is the biggie that accounts for most of it.
21 upvotes nice
So the casino has a .05% edge over the player if you play perfect basic strategy. So it is basically a coin flip. In the short run you can go on a big winning or losing streak, but ultimately whatever happens you are losing $5 for every $100 you play. By the time you get to the long-term, thousands and thousands of hands, the results will begin to more closely align with the .05% house edge. The thing is that the casino never closes…the game never stops for the house.
Thr casino doesn’t throw out winning players, they throw out advantage players, ie. card counters. They generally detect them through betting patterns: these players bet small until they have a favourable situation when they begin to bet table max. Casinos have the right to refuse anyone…
Because the one way you could gain an advantage is banned and will get you kicked if they suspect you.
“you will get kicked” like this is Habbo Hotel
You will be kicked oit of a real life casino if you count cards. And possibly be banned.
So you get banned from the casino if you tell people the pool is closed?
Playing a statistically perfect game of blackjack requires an immense amount of math. You have to know what cards are in the deck, what cards are not in the deck, and be able to use that information in extended mathematical computations. Most people just use a very basic table, often provided by the house, and that table tells them whether to hit or stand.
The thing about this table, often provided by the house, is that if you play according to this table, you will lose more money than you gain. If you want to gain more money than you lose, you have to do a lot of mental math. That being said, if you do manage to do the mental math right and consistently come out with more money than you come in with, the house will ban you.
So yeah, the house has an advantage, and if the house ever doesn't have an advantage, the house will just ban you.
How to win at black jack
Key Considerations for Winning at Blackjack:
Understand Basic Strategy: Familiarize yourself with basic blackjack strategy charts that outline the best moves based on your hand and the dealer's upcard. This includes when to hit, stand, double down, or split.
Know the Rules: Different casinos may have variations in rules (e.g., number of decks, dealer hits on soft 17). Understand these rules as they can affect your odds.
Manage Your Bankroll: Set a budget for your gambling session and stick to it. Avoid chasing losses and know when to walk away.
Card Counting: While it’s not easy and requires practice, card counting can give you an edge by keeping track of high and low cards that remain in the deck. This helps you adjust your bets accordingly.
Avoid Insurance Bets: Insurance bets are generally not favorable for players and can lead to losses over time.
Play at Tables with Favorable Rules: Look for tables that offer favorable rules, such as those that allow doubling down after splitting or those that pay 3:2 for blackjack.
Recommendation: Start by practicing with free online blackjack games to get comfortable with the rules and strategies without risking real money. Once you're confident, consider playing at tables with lower stakes to minimize risk while you refine your skills.
