Lightweight Laptops with Long Battery Life

When searching for a lightweight laptop with long battery life, several models and brands stand out based on user recommendations and experiences. Here are some key options to consider:

Asus Expertbook B9450 The Asus Expertbook B9450 is highly recommended for its portability and battery life. Weighing just over two pounds, it offers excellent battery performance, making it ideal for travel [1:1]. It may be available at a lower price if purchased used.

LG Gram Series The LG Gram 16" is noted for its impressive battery life of around 13+ hours. It's particularly suited for users who prioritize long-lasting power and need a reliable machine for work or travel [4:2].

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Series The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 series, including the X1 Extreme Gen 4, is praised for its build quality, comfort, and battery longevity. It's a solid choice for professionals who need a durable and efficient laptop [4:1][3:5].

Acer Swift X For those on a budget, the Acer Swift X provides a good balance between performance and battery life. It includes an RTX graphics card, which is rare at its price point, making it a strong contender for users needing moderate graphics capabilities [5:1].

Asus ZenBook and VivoBook The Asus ZenBook and VivoBook lines are frequently mentioned for their lightweight design and decent battery life. They cater well to users looking for a stylish yet functional device [1:4][3:4].

Considerations Beyond the Discussions While these models are highly recommended, it's important to consider specific needs such as screen size, processing power, and additional features like touchscreens or convertible designs. Additionally, checking for discounts or deals, especially through employer programs or during sales events, can help in securing a better price. Always verify the specifications align with your requirements before purchasing.

My favorite travel laptop is the Asus Expertbook B9450 with a weak 10th generation processor (i5 or i7). It's a little over two pounds and has great battery life. They are fairly cheap used; too expensive if you find a new one.

I don't need a gaming PC, I have a nice desktop for that. I'm looking for something preferably cheap that runs decently well. It will mostly be for writing and youtube while on the go. Chromebooks might work but Id rather have something that is less reliant on constant internet connection.

Hi, I'm looking for a portable laptop that's around 2kg or less with at least a 3060 and preferably an AMD cpu (Intel will do if the battery can last a while). I will primarily be using it for 3D art and typing up documents. And I don't have a set budget. Thank you !

Sorry about that, yes, I should have mentioned all 3 are coming out in July/August. If you need it today, I'd honestly suggest a creator laptop with 3050Ti instead.

As you probably know, Intel 12th Gen CPU is not viable for long battery life, and "long-battery Ryzen laptops" currently out in the market have awful displays.

Zephyrus G14/15, both have Ryzen 9 series 6000 CPU, the G14 has Radeon 6000 series GPU, and the G15 has RTX 3060/70/70Ti/80, depending on which configuration you want. G14 has a 14" screen at 1.7kg, G15 is 15.6 inch, 1.9kg. Both have 8-10h battery life, though I think in general the G14 has longer battery life.

I want a good battery life windows laptop for work

Posted by Funny-Yam2319 · in r/SuggestALaptop · 2 years ago

I work as a freelancer data analyst and I do travel a lot, battery life and decent screen resolution is very important for me, at least 16:10 aspect ratio with thin bezels.
I got this problem that I like Apple's hardware, top quality build on MacBooks and great optimization so everything is smooth and fast on MacOS, but compared to windows Apple's ecosystem sucks big time, there is a loads of great products that ain't available on MacOS, Excel sucks on MacOS, Power BI is not available, etc, etc... I use lot of SQL and Power BI, so that's why I think I need a windows laptop.
I know lot of MacOS users using parallels to get Power BI and other MS applications running, my friend is doing that on his m2 Pro and I don't like it as it makes Mac quite slow and laggy and not a comfortable way to work IMO when you have 2 separate operating system installed for one job...

Anyone has any suggestions about good windows laptops? Price is not a problem.

Roughly 15~ inch screen
16:10 or 3:2 aspect ratio
I want as good battery life as I can get from windows laptop
16 RAM or more
I don't want my laptop to overheat
I hate laptops with huge bezels
Integrated graphics card.

I am open to suggestions.
I am asking this because I have searched a lot and watched tons of videos on Youtube but most of them are just ads and they never say truth when it comes to battery life and other things.

Ok so in my opinion, LG Gram 16" latest gen is the most reasonable choice for you, at an average it can last around 13+ hours according to laptopmag.com review, but also because it makes the most sense in terms of hardware requirement.

Basically, in order for a laptop to have a long battery, it needs to have the right CPU. While this has an i7 CPU, I am sure you would be aware they are not all created equal. Each generation has several different models differentiated mainly by how much power they consume (more wattage consumption = higher performance but lower battery life).

This particular laptop has the Core i7 1360P, which is a 'P' series CPU. This is considered a lower wattage variant but it isn't at the bottom rung of the hierarchy.

Here is the hierarchy in brief

  • 'U' series - most battery life - weakest performance
  • 'P' series - good battery life - good performance
  • 'H' series - bad battery life - great performance
  • HX series - worst battery life - best performance

So given the work you suggested and the requirement for battery life, LG Gram 16" seems to be the best option. And it is also quite thin and lightweight making it essentially a 16" ultrabook.

Other than that, it has 16 GB DDR5, an amazing screen that covers 99% of the DCI-P3 gamut. 1 TB NVME SSD. NO dedicated GPU though, that shouldn't matter much because you are not gamer.

Plus you can find other variants that offer more storage or RAM etc.

I've been using a Lenovo laptop and its battery life is incredible. It easily lasts all day, even with heavy use, which is perfect for long workdays or travel. The performance is solid too, handling everything I need without any lag. If long battery life is a priority, Lenovo is definitely the way to go.

As an ex-freelance data scientist...

I REALLY think you should look for Older MacBooks.

The battery life is awesome, and since your job is probably going to take a lot of coding and integration with software teams, UNIX systems have proven to be easier for that.

Maybe stay away from M1/M2 for a bit - but I really think you should maybe reevaluate the windows only position.

I've recently really liked Ebay's official refurbished store, buying two different Macs from there since 2014.

they all come with a 2 year warranty which always takes away the buying second hand stress: https://www.ebay.com/certified-refurbished

looking for a lightweight laptop with good battery life

Posted by transizzle · in r/SuggestALaptop · 2 years ago

Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:

US, around $8-900 or so. I don't really want to go above $1000 but I'm willing to consider it if there's a strong reason for it.

Are you open to refurbs/used?

No

How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

Battery life and performance are top. I'm not interested in a 2-in-1. My current laptop has a build quality issue where the case is cracking so I'm more cognizant of that than usual, but not enough to prioritize it over the other things.

How important is weight and thinness to you?

Fairly important. I have a Dell G3 right now and its weight is a lot. I was looking for something in the 2-3lb range.

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

13 or 14 inches is what I've been looking at.

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

I'd like to be able to run games but I'm not looking to do anything high-end -- more just your average indie game, something like Banished, Slay the Spire, perhaps some PS1/PS2 emulation, Hollow Knight, things like that.

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

See above - medium and close to 60FPS is fine. I don't play anything too demanding on PC but a basic threshold of being able to run the above would be great.

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

No peripherals are really needed. I do care about a decent, standard keyboard layout but I don't need a numpad or anything special like that.

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

Ports are my main focus. I've been looking at a Dell XPS 13 and a Lenovo X1 Nano as that is the general form factor I was eyeing after years of having a heavier mid-tier gaming laptop. But when I was looking at them, I noticed they only have thunderbolt ports. I'd list a USB-A and a headphone jack as requirements. That led me to the Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 10 but it sounds like the battery life in those aren't great.

Would love any suggestions around that general price point that can do basic web browsing and video streaming at fast speeds. I was thinking 16GB of RAM, 500GB+ SSD and a strong battery. Thank you!

This seems like a great recommendation, thank you! It's a little heavier than I was looking for but I didn't expect to find an RTX card, even a low end one, in a laptop at that weight or at that price point. I found another bundle that comes with Windows 11 and a newer CPU (5825u vs. 5820u in this one) so I might go with that. Going to give it a couple days though to think about it. Thanks again!

My XPS 13 easily lasts all day not sure but i think that the 15 inch jas dedicated graphics which reduces battery life. Just don't go for 4k option since you don't really see a difference on such a small screen and it reduces battery life allot.

Only laptop I've seen to live long enough is some old Lenovo Thinkpad, no idea how are their newer models. Forget about macs, surfaces, cheap gaming latops etc. Get business laptop with 16gb ram (though you can easily upgrade it if you get less) and at least 4 core cpu.

Here is a quote from "Suggest a laptop" community

Strictly speaking, business laptops are limited to ThinkPads from Lenovo, Latitudes and Precisions from Dell, Pro/Elite and ZBooks from HP, LifeBooks from Fujitsu, and Tecras from Toshiba. These units are typically suited for general office/schoolwork, media consumption, programming, and design work (but not rendering). Do NOT buy a business system for gaming, or heavy rendering work. With a business laptop, you end up paying for build quality, and warranty services; having these units run for a decade is not uncommon. Further, business laptops are easy to self-service, and spare parts are readily available. However, the performance per dollar for business laptops is usually low (particularly true for business workstations).

Lightweight laptop recommendation

Posted by Sudden_Knee_4835 · in r/laptops · 3 months ago

I’m going to buy my wife a new laptop which her top priority is to be lightweight, slim and of great build quality. She currently uses an old MacBook Air. She’s looking for 13-14 inch displays. Mainly for productivity and entertainment purposes.

For me, I’d like the CPU to be the latest generation ones (say Series 2 Core Ultra, or AMD Ryzen AI 300 series). OLED display and Wifi 7 support preferred but not a must. There’s no need for a discrete graphics chip.

So far, I find Zenbook 14 or S14 quite compelling. I saw a 13 inch model with is more lightweight but the CPU seems to be a generation older.

What about Vivobook? Or fo you guys have any other recommendations?

In many ways Macbook Air M4 is an obvious choice. However both of us (who have been deeply engaged in the Apple ecosystem for 15 years) find Windows PCs, especially with the release of Copilot+ Windows and Office functionality, much more appealing now. The MacOS, in particular the upcoming Liquid Glass update, is comparatively lacklustre.

3 upvotes on reddit
TeddieSnow · 3 months ago

I spend at least an hour a day trying to get this information onto Reddit. Despite 29 years of Apple advocacy, I really resent Apple now. But I'm objective and if people needed an all day laptop battery, the Air line was the go to spot. But as you say --

-- newer Windows PCs are closing the battery gapple. And when the Air matches the storage and ram spec of these pcs, not to mention AppleCare, they're twice as much.

2 upvotes on reddit
agaastt · 3 months ago

If your budget allows you to buy the new M4 Macbook pro I highly suggest it for her case. Since Gaming is not a need for her then don’t go for Windows laptops. M4 is the best option for her not only shes used to macOS and have used one before, also its the BEST for her needs of entertainment and productivity. If she needs it for gaming then look for windows laptops.

Xcaliber1507 · 3 months ago

if she is used to mac then it would be better to get MacBook. But if she needs a windows laptop go for lenovo yoga or Samsung galaxy book 5 pro. Dont get asus cause they don't have good after sales support and will cause a lots of warranty claim issues. As she already used a MacBook I would recommend the Samsung laptop cause it is very similar to the m1 MacBook air. The keyboard and the form factor are almost the same. The only difference is that the trackpad is not haptic.

Lightweight laptop recommendation that has long battery life

Posted by Calypso_2602 · in r/Tech_Philippines · 11 days ago

Hello! I'm planning to buy a new laptop. I currently own an Acer Aspire A315. 5 years old na rin siya 😅

Meron bang windows na almost similar sana sa macbook? Gusto ko sana lightweight lang din para I can work anywhere, and syempre good battery.

Ayoko ng macbook kasi I still want to play games occasionally. (I only play genshin and valorant lang naman)

Budget is below ₱60k. Pass muna sa Acer recommendations 😅 I'm considering Lenovo LOQ, pero baka mabigat siya, and nabasa ko rin kasi na hindi long-lasting ang battery ng gaming laptops. Or should I still consider macbook?

Thank you!

lightweight laptops with long battery life

Key Considerations for Lightweight Laptops with Long Battery Life

  1. Weight: Aim for laptops that weigh around 2.5 to 3.5 pounds for optimal portability.

  2. Battery Life: Look for laptops that offer at least 10-15 hours of battery life for all-day use without needing to recharge.

  3. Processor: Choose laptops with efficient processors, such as Intel's Core i5 or i7 (especially the latest generations) or AMD Ryzen 5 or 7, which provide good performance while conserving battery.

  4. Display: Consider a Full HD (1920x1080) display for a good balance between clarity and battery consumption. OLED displays may offer better colors but can consume more power.

  5. Build Quality: A durable build (like aluminum or magnesium) can enhance portability and longevity.

  6. Storage: Opt for SSDs (Solid State Drives) for faster performance and better battery efficiency compared to traditional HDDs.

Recommendations:

  • Dell XPS 13: Known for its sleek design, it weighs around 2.8 pounds and offers up to 12-14 hours of battery life, depending on the configuration. It features a stunning display and powerful performance.

  • Apple MacBook Air (M1 or M2): Weighing about 2.8 pounds, it boasts impressive battery life (up to 18 hours) and excellent performance with the M1 or M2 chip, making it a great choice for macOS users.

  • HP Spectre x360: This 2-in-1 laptop weighs around 2.8 pounds and offers up to 12-15 hours of battery life. It features a premium design and versatile functionality.

  • Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (Gen 9): Weighing approximately 2.5 pounds, it provides up to 15-20 hours of battery life, known for its robust build quality and excellent keyboard.

These options balance portability, performance, and battery life, making them ideal for users on the go.
