ORIGINAL POST

Visiting London this weekend. Would appreciate any recommendations as I haven't gone out in London ever before. I love house, garage, disco, afrobeats, anything groovy. What's a good place/event to go dancing this weekend? Ideally day parties but otherwise night events work too.

Thank you!

Red Laser DJs, Anabel Fraser and Hysteric at Club Cheek on Saturday could be up your alley.

It's actually not a big weekend for London dnb but there is some stuff

Don't have time to sort out links but search this stuff:

5th:

Jungle splash - brixton jam (jungle)
internet culture @ mot (dnb/breakcore)

6th:

bass sect - engine rooms (jumpup)
club glow - hootenanny brixton (breakbeat/jungle/hardcore)
splash - waiting room (garage/breaks - not much dnb but adjacent)
rolldabeats - planet wax (dnb, but more of a record store/bar than a club)

Here's a short list of things to do this weekend In North London. Please, add any I've missed in the comments.

King's Cross Summer Sounds | 📍Coal Drops Yard, N1C | 7-17 August | Free

Free 11-day music festival celebrating its 10th anniversary with live concerts 6:30-8:30pm daily (plus Family Sundays 1-6pm). This weekend catch West End stars doing musical theatre hits on Saturday evening, Flamenco workshops Saturday afternoon (4-6pm), and Afrobeat legend Dele Sosimi on Sunday. No booking needed but seating is limited - turn up early for a spot.

---

Camden Market Mela | 📍Hawley Wharf, Camden NW1 | 9–10 August | Free

Camden’s doing a big South Asian Mela this weekend – music, dancing, food, henna, crafts, giant puppets, the lot. Good one to wander through if you're in the area. Runs 1–6:30pm both days.

---

Historic Highgate Walk | 📍Starts at Lauderdale House, N6 | 10 August | (£)

A guided stroll through one of North London’s prettiest (and oldest) neighbourhoods, from 17th-century pubs to Georgian mansions, historic churches and the old Highgate toll gate. Along the way you’ll hear stories about past residents like Coleridge, George Michael and Karl Marx. It starts at 11am (meet at 10:45am by the black door on Highgate Hill), and lasts about 90 minutes. This is the first one, so it might be a nice time to catch it.

---

Live Jazz Brunch | 📍Plaquemine Lock, Islington N1 | 10 August | Free ( or book for food)
Since you’re not going to New Orleans this weekend, why not bring New Orleans to you? Live Louisiana jazz from Al Dunn, seafood brunch (gumbo, po’boys, oysters, the works), and canal-side vibes in Islington. Music runs 12:30–3pm. Walk in for drinks, book ahead if you want to eat.

---

Bootyfull Car Boot | 📍William Ellis School, NW5 | 10 August | £1 entry fee

Car boot near Parliament Hill Fields with a mix of vintage, homeware, records, clothes and proper random finds. Runs 11am–2pm every Sunday. There's also toasted sourdough sandwiches, a quiet spot to sit, and a bit of a local following. Worth a look if you're in the area or fancy a good rummage.

---

Aidan & Friends: Moray Lamb | 📍Half Cut Market, Kentish Town N7 | 9 August | (£)

One-night dinner collab between ex-BRAT chef Aidan Richardson and Moray Lamb from Montrose in Edinburgh. It’s part of a new summer series at Half Cut Market. Limited spots, so book ahead.

---

Krankbrother presents Honey F*cking Dijon + CamelPhat | 📍Finsbury Park, N4  | 9-10 August | (£)

Krankbrother's back-to-back electronic music events in Finsbury Park. Saturday: house legend Honey F*cking Dijon with Kerri Chandler, TSHA and Horse Meat Disco. Sunday: CamelPhat's first London outdoor headline show with Mind Against. Two stages each day with krankbrother's usual high production values. Separate tickets, last entry 7pm.

---

Soulvines: Amy Winehouse Tribute | 📍Karamel, N22 | 9 August, 7pm | (£)

A night of Amy Winehouse covers from Soulvines, a new five-piece band with a love for jazz, funk and blues. Expect Back to Black, Valerie and all the favourites. Food served until 9:30pm.

---

Sustainable Market | 📍Angel Central, N1 | Every Sat & Sun | Free
Did you know there’s a sustainable market at Angel Central every weekend? Local traders selling everything from handmade bits to vintage pieces and low-waste goods. It’s on in the piazza, 11am–6pm, Saturday and Sunday.

---

Lazy Sunday: Train Robbers Syndicate | 📍Hilly Fields, EN2 | 10 August | Free

Live band on the bandstand, 3–5:30pm. Expect rock/pop covers from the 90s and 2000s – think Foo Fighters, Lady Gaga, Kaiser Chiefs, and a bit of Shania Twain. Bring a picnic, something to sit on, and maybe a brolly just in case. There’s parking at Whitewebbs Golf Course and an ice cream van on site.

---

Lunchtime Heroes | 📍The Finsbury, N4 | 10 August | Free

Neo-soul, jazz and funk from local band Lunchtime Heroes, playing a free gig at The Finsbury this Sunday. They’re launching a new single, Crimson. Doors at 7:30pm, good pick if you're after live music that’s a bit more soulful than your average pub set.

---

Summer Concert | 📍Parliament Hill Bandstand, NW5 | 10 August | Free

Free live music on Hampstead Heath this Sunday,  the London Ukulele Band will be playing pop and rock covers from 3–5pm. No booking needed, just turn up and enjoy the vibes and view.

Decent pizza out back (huge garden to chill in), good beer, long bar with quick service and a kinda informal cloakroom for events like this. I was at the first one and it was run really well. It's a massive ballache for me to get there and home again but worth the journey.

live music events this weekend in london

Key Considerations for Finding Live Music Events:

  1. Venue Types: Check various venues like concert halls, pubs, clubs, and outdoor spaces. Each may offer different genres and atmospheres.

  2. Genres: Identify what type of music you enjoy (rock, jazz, classical, electronic, etc.) to narrow down your options.

  3. Ticket Availability: Look for events that still have tickets available. Some popular shows may sell out quickly.

  4. Local Listings: Use local event websites, social media platforms, or apps like Songkick, Bandsintown, or Eventbrite to find up-to-date listings of live music events.

  5. Timing: Consider the time of the events and whether you prefer early shows or late-night performances.

Recommendation: For the most accurate and current information, check platforms like thegigabrain.com or local event listings for live music events happening this weekend in London. This will help you find a variety of options tailored to your preferences.
