I got him to 8 just buy giving him cola from the vending machine in the saloon. He doesn't love it, but he likes it. Liked gifts get you there eventually.

He likes any cooked dish, really (except the ones that NOBODY likes, i.e. Seafoam pudding). Joja cola, pizza when you can afford it, any cooked dish will do in a pinch. He hates mayo, eggs and pickles, so avoid giving him those. Avoid foragables, too. Most NPCs don't like those :\

Sam’s loved gifts are Pizza, tigerseye gem you can find in geodes, Cactus fruit (once you unlock the desert and greenhouse this is a super easy way to keep him very happy) and maple bars if you have the kitchen upgrade! As others have said too early game it’s easiest to fish trash joja cola and give that to him also

I like Sam a lot! He is very sweet :) the only reason I don’t go for him is bc all of the fanart people post that make him look like a 16yo. I can’t NOT see him as a minor so thinking of him romantically gives me the ick, even when canonically he’s probably early 20s (I’m 28).

I would love their hairstyle or a similar piece of clothing for each bachelor - or even just a unique custom item. Like Maple gives you a cute beaded barette, Henrietta gives you an item for your farm animals to play on (like the seesaw), Valen gives you a stethescope, so on and so forth.

Love would be coffee, beer, and IPA. Hated gifts would properly be any fish I guess. I feel like I would like everything else.

I mean I wouldn't just go with one type of gift. Unlike most of these games a lot of the npc's have easy to obtain favorite gifts. I just found a gift guide on this subreddit, focused on a few npcs at a time and maxed their friendship and then moved onto another set.

Cheese, sashimi, mayo, gold bars. If it were giftable, I'd include furniture/decor items.
