TL;DR
Returning Cast Members
Tom Holland is confirmed to reprise his role as Peter Parker in "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon also expected to return [1]
[2]. The inclusion of Zendaya and Jacob has sparked debate among fans, with some preferring their absence to emphasize Peter's isolation after the events of "No Way Home"
[1:1]
[3:1]. However, others argue that Zendaya's star power should be utilized fully, potentially involving her character MJ in solving the narrative puzzle
[2:1].
New Cast Additions
Sadie Sink has been officially cast for the upcoming film [2]. While her role remains undisclosed, fans are excited about her involvement, hoping she will receive a substantial role
[3:8]. Additionally, there have been discussions about introducing military-type characters, though details remain speculative
[5].
Potential New Characters
Fans have expressed interest in seeing new characters like Black Cat and Harry Osborn introduced in the next installment. Black Cat could offer a dynamic relationship for Peter, allowing him to balance his superhero duties with personal life [1:2]
[1:5]. Harry Osborn's introduction could provide a fresh friendship dynamic, possibly without involving Norman Osborn or the Green Goblin
[1:5]. Felicia Hardy as a love interest is another popular suggestion, aligning with comic book narratives
[1:6]
[4:5].
Narrative Directions
There is significant interest in exploring Peter Parker's life post-"No Way Home," focusing on his struggles and growth without his close friends [4:1]
[4:2]. Introducing new characters and expanding Peter's world beyond familiar faces could enrich the storyline, with potential villains like Mr. Negative and themes around the black suit being explored
[1:9]. Fans are eager to see how these elements will contribute to Peter's development and the broader MCU narrative.
Now I'm not sure if this is 100% confirmed, but I read that Sony was expecting both Tom Holland along with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon to return for the next MCU Spider-Man movie.
I must admit that I'm actually not super keen on both MJ and Ned returning this soon after what happened at the end of NWH. I can see them coming back in the future if the endgame is for Peter and MJ to end up together. While the relationship between these characters was a highlight for the high school oriented movies I would prefer if the college movies (trilogy?) would give Peter a new supporting cast, consisting of characters like Harry Osborn, Gwen Stacy and a few others.
I thought the ending for NWH was great, setting up a more anonymous and street level Spidey after being so involved in huge multiversal/Avengers level threats in the previous movies. I was looking forward to what new villains and supporting characters he would meet and how the symbiote would play into this.
What are your thoughts on Ned and MJ returning this soon?
I’d prefer if we got some other characters in the MCU Spider-Man movies. Ned and MJ are great, but we need time without them after NWH.
I propose one character in particular—Black Cat.
This is the perfect time for Black Cat to come in. All of NWH happened because Peter couldn’t be a hero and find love. If Felicia were to come in now, Peter would feel as if he finally has a way to live both lives.
I think Dove Cameron could play a fantastic Black Cat in the MCU. She’s a similar age to Tom Holland, she looks good with white hair, and she can play the sultry kind of role that is required for Black Cat.
I haven’t really seen anything with her in it, but you could be on to something. Personally I’d like if they had a Black Cat that’s slightly older than Peter. I think it would be hilarious seeing Tom Holland being slightly uncomfortable having her hit on him.
Yeah i personally would prefer if we didn’t see Ned or MJ for anything more than a quick cameo in the next one. I wanna feel that emptiness in Peter’s life now that he’s lost everyone he cares about.
I would definitely love to see Harry at the very least, i think we definitely need that friendship in the MCU. Idk if they’d do Gwen too, but if they do i can see them going the route of them just being friends and nothing more. It’d be tough to have Peter meet Gwen, fall in love, maybe have her die, AND go back to MJ in what would likely only be three more movies at most. Besides, i want him to meet Black Cat
If they go that route, which I personally hope as well, I don’t necessarily think they have to make Gwen a major love interest and I don’t think she must die either for that matter. Maybe have her and Peter study the same courses with him developing a tiny attraction or have them go on a date or two until Peter remembers what almost happened the last time he got too close to someone. Maybe they could have Black Cat as a fling while he wears the black suit, until they finally have him reunite with MJ in the final movie.
Without knowing how, why, or in what role the characters are returning it would be pretty arrogant to form an opinion so soon I think.
I mean sure, they could have very well have small roles and just pop up as a brief cameo to remind Peter how much he sacrificed. But to more or less announce their return in the next movie along with the leading actor tells me at least that they will be a fairly big part of the supporting cast.
No idea who they introduce. I don't think we will get a Harry in the MCU. Maybe a Felicia Hardy over Gwen Stacey. I'd be stoked if they had Kitty Pryde as a love interest like in Ultimate comics because I think it'd be fun to start introducing some mutants like that (and post credits tease with Charles or Erik in a Fury role). If they want to feature some fully formed heroes like in past films I think Fantastic Four, or principally Johnny Storm would be fun. Yuriko Watanabe is great in the Playstation game.
Maybe not, but I think you can introduce Harry as a friend and not necessarily bring along Norman or Green Goblin. It would be cool to see what kind of spin they would do on Black Cat and I agree that heroes and villains from other MCU projects could appear as well. I think it’s highly likely that we will get Fantastic Four before this movie so these characters could be introduced already. Yuri is a great ally that also could be used as a villain in the future. I would also like Martin Li seeing as they have already introduced F.E.A.S.T and I think the black suit would look great in scenes with his negative powers.
Maybe they do a Harry whose Dad died when he was little and that's why there's no OSCORP. Totally agree that Mr. Negative and the black suit seems like a great pairing visually and also thematically. That's my prediction for the next film. Martin Li as the primary bad and Scorpion in a role like Shocker. Then movie ends with Scorpion becoming Venom (or post credits tease). They could even have AntiVenom basically be the symbiote if the MCU if they wanted to be distinct from Sony
If they do show up, maybe now they’ll actually get some character development now that they’re not best friends with Peter because they didn’t get any real development across three movies.
Can anybody tell me anything about either of them outside of their relationship with Peter?
Not that I’m disagreeing with you, but civilian characters typically don’t get development in the MCU. How much do we know about Jane’s friends from the first two Thor movies? What about Jimmy Woo? It’s not like WandaVision gave them much more to work with, either.
Those characters don’t have top billing.
Zendaya is clearly the second lead of the franchise and it took three movies just to know her name and nothing else.
Tom Holland's "Spider-Man 4" is officially titled "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" and opens in theaters July 31, 2026.
Zendaya and Tom will have their characters live happily ever after, whenever that time comes. It’ll be interesting to see how they get MJ and PP there. There’s a part of me sure they will introduce a lot of new characters and will have the old FOS only for a couple of minutes and few scenes. There’s another part of me, that thinks that it’d be silly of them not to have and use Zendaya to the fullest. Have her in parallel trying to solve the puzzle and put the pieces back together. She’s a major A lister, she can put butts on seats and Tom and Zendaya as a couple, MJ and Peter Parker, could sell anything if you have them promote the movie together. Even more now that they are engaged. But I really don’t know what to think. It’s such a 50/50 for me.
Yeah I can’t see them splitting up MJ and Peter, Tom and Zendaya literally fell in love making homecoming
Personally, I am super excited. I was hoping they brought back those 3 actors together for the next film.
Me neither. Those Black Cat shippers can find another movie.
This is amazing.
Zendaya and Jacob shouldn't be in this one IMO, they should be brought back in 5 to make NWH's ending have a stronger consequence
The fact they are still in Peter's life yet have no relationship to him makes the ending stronger.
I feel they could be used to show the longing as in peter keeping an eye on them from afar how they have moved on but yeah they should definitely not resolve the memory plot
I really hope Zendaya and Jacob don’t get alot of screentime, just have them as a cameo and move on
Would this be Jon Bernthal's MCU movie debut?
He's gonna be too violent for Spidey. I can see Spidey webbing his hand or something so he doesn't go overboard
Happy was in Peter's story because of his connections with Tony and then because of Aunt May. So now there's no reason for him to be in the story given that both of them are dead and Happy doesn't remember Peter.
She's an incredible actress. Hope they give her a role she can chew on.
Yo TINA
A lot of buzz around Spider-Man 4 after No Way Home's undeniable success, afterwards I was personally excited for a whole new take on spider-man one that seems more familiar the source material, he's on his own now and he has no friends or family he's just Spider-Man. But recently a sony executive has come out saying he wants to get Watts and Zendaya back (assumingly Jacob aswell) which kind of ruins the new Spider-Man for me. If I were to do it differently i'd probably introduce a new director for a different take on spider-man, and I'd introduce a NEW love interest for Peter that isn't MJ. I'd like it for Zendaya to come back in like spider-man 6 if they were to ever make it that far in a cool return with Red hair and the whole thing, but I'd prefer if there was a new love interest, and what better than Black Cat. In the comics Black Cat always had Peter embrace his Hero persona as Spider-Man and now he's doing that along with possibly the black suit? Come on its an obvious choice, i'd say have MJ and Ned out of the movies atleast for a good while because it would make the ending of No Way Home meaningless and dull. What about you guys how would you have Spider-Man 4 if you had the choice to keep Watts or get a different direction for Spider-Man?
Yeah as much as I enjoyed Zendaya and Jacob , I feel given how No way home ended. I really feel it wouldn’t make sense for them to come back. The story needs to focus on Peter’s new (unfortunately lonely) life and what to build one and really show the emotional toll it has on him. Introducing him to new characters is the way to go .
I read the early and classic comics of The Amazing Spider-Man lately and even notes on the 80s saga and I think the best path forward is ti combine them to an extent.
Betty Brant is his new lover, although that becomes complicated. Have a villain like Kraven, Hobgoblin, and Venom yet have classic characters be more vital. More JJ. More of Felicia Hardy. Showing more of his life outside of what we always see.
I don't mind MJ but I think it makes sense for her to return in the 3rd film as a way for Peter to get her back in a relationship in a wholesome manner; where his life is back in order and are back to getting to know each other as we can see a happy ending of them for us to speculate him finally being Peter again.
The Home trilogy dealt with homesickness and fear of change from a youth perspective. Peter becoming Spider-Man. They next trilogy should be about Spider-Man balancing his life and realizing that eventually he can't always be the hero New York Calls upon.
I get why some fans hate the ending of NWH because it basically entertains the story plot device of One More Day. Everything negated with magic because bad writing. I see the frustration but this approach can work having it be a new take of Spider-Man.
I want both. Different direction and director. It would be nice to have someone like Raimi who showed some passion for the source material. Marc Webb wasn’t bad to me either. It just seems like we never got to see much of what he could do due to Sony’s rush to create a cinematic universe.
Hopefully with Peter moving towards adulthood and facing adult problems the next trilogy’s tone will be different.
I would introduce Harry have Mr. Negative and get Felicia as a Love interest for Peter
Zendaya and Jacob were a great support cast for the Spider-Man flicks in the MCU but I personally wouldn’t want to see them in Spider-Man 4. Them reappearing in major roles would just be undoing the major message Peter got at the end of NWH. Obviously even if Ned and MJ had major roles I doubt that they they would want them to reconcile with Peter fully so quickly. But for them to come back as apart of the main cast it would most likely mean they’d have a substantial role which in turn would mean that they would be majorly setting them up to reconcile with him which would again defeat the purpose of ending of NWH if they did that so early on (I’d preferably want that kind of interacting Spider-Man 5 and/or 6)
At most I’d be cool with like a little cameo (I.E Peter is stalking their social media to see how they’re still doing but they wouldn’t be interacting with Peter). And I’d most certainly want a new director, this is a new chapter in Peter’s life so there’d probably be a tone shift as Peter would facing a plethora of new issues and untapped and I’d want to see a new style of directing handle that and navigate how to showcase the difference.
Calls for military type.

Tobey Maguire isn’t reprising his role from the Raimi trilogy. He’s reprising his role from Brothers! /s
And Andrew Garfield is reprising his role from Hacksaw Ridge! And Tom Holland from a war movie he was probably in!
Spider-Man: No Way Home... from the Middle East is the full title
imagine the closest we get to a live action Spiderverse is just Tom Holland recognizing Tobey Macguire and Andrew Garfield playing themselves and referencing this line from the comics.
I’m holding out hope that Spiders-Man will show up in Spider-Verse 2, but I would die happy if it showed up in a live-action spidey.
Mysterio at it again.
The November Project is spiderman.
Oh my bad. I saw a lot of other set photos from Ms. Marvel with Military vehicles and personnel. Thought this could have be it also.
Thanks for clarifying friend!
Oh nice also I know they most likely can’t talk about anything they are filmed in but how does marvel ensure all the extras will keep quite?
I don’t know if this right but I heard they give them as little context as possible not sure if this true
They sure are doing a lot of calls for extras.
Yeah, they're the first production (post-vaccine) I can think of that's got normally populated scenes.
Thor: I know how it feels
Another Peter Parker entirely.
Takuya Yamashiro, instead please.
Raimi Peter coming back?
The Emissary of Hell, please.
Or perhaps Neil Patrick Harris spider-man.
I hadn’t checked in since Day 3 and, uh, this seems to have gone the r/batmanarkham route.
What do you mean -man deserves this movie
Sadly
You should redo the last two ones, because barely anyone commented on it, so ofc the memer won without competition
Is there a lore reason for why the Aslume is leaking?
Charlie Cox’s Daredevil
I agree with the person who said Peter Griffin
Peter Griffin

I really hope Ned and MJ have less than 5 minutes of screen time, this is supposed to be the new start from the literal bottom of Peter's story arc. Having them in the movie suspect already
It was irresponsible for Peter to rob them of their experiences, when they specifically asked them not to. They asked him to tell them after the spell. Especially with someone like MJ. He made the decision for her, when she loved him. She chose to take those risks.
He has to deal with the consequences, and that should be a huge part of the movie.
Lmao like they Going to sidelined Zendaya
MJ and Ned are back, welp, No way home is ruined.
Doesn’t mean they’ll have big roles, probably just to show Peter’s struggles
I hope you’re right but either way I wouldn’t mind them having bit roles and somehow Peter convinces them tbh.
If the rumors of Mr. negative being in the movie are true, they could easily show up in visions if Mr. Negative tries to use his powers to corrupt Spidey.
lol this is funny because I guarantee you just want a new supporting cast
Happy to see Michael Mando return. I was worried they weren't going to bring back Scorpion after his brief appearance at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming.
He was also in the movie proper. Spidey knocked him off the ferry by hitting him in the face with a car.
I think he’s going to protect one of them, from like Shocker or something, and that’s gonna create cracks in their memory to some degree. Like MJ not remembering her first love will matter a lot.
So they bring Mark Ruffalo for a Spider-Man movie but not the movie that involves Thunderbolt Ross as Red Hulk and the Leader because?
Sadie Sink as Gwen Stacy
Tom Holland as Spider Man
Kit Connor as Harry Osborne
Lily Rose Depp as Felicia Hardy
Who's the one at the end that looks like a young Vanessa Paradis?
It’s actually her daughter, Lily Rose Depp
That explains the similarity

I don't think there ever will be a Harry Osborn in the MCU, because the MCU Norman was the one from No Way Home.
Didn’t think about nor have I watched it fr yet, but MJ was never in the series?
no, MJ was in Ultimate Spider-Man quite a bit. she was kind of Peter’s best friend/crush, like Gwen was in Spectacular.
i don’t remember Black Cat or Gwen Stacy (not as Spider-Gwen) ever being in Ultimate tho.
Black cat wasn’t in the show but she was in some tie in comics and Disney infinity
Awww, ok. Thank you.
Better designs than the original Ultimate Spider-Man show.
We need this
Oh if only these were the designs in the show
I love the electro design omg
Here is the collection of scoops from Daniel RPK (via his latest Patreon) on news and new castings for the upcoming 'Spider-Man 4' movie that is currently in pre-Production to start filming in Summer this year.
Or he’s claiming Mr. Negative is the “enforcer” character on his cast list. Problem being that was open race casting, whereas Mr. Negative can really only be Chinese.
I thought the enforcer would be Norman since the young man is thought to be Harry
I also don't see how he might be connected to the Spider Island rumor that he started....
yeah i don’t really understand why feige would have concerns now when the russos have not exactly lit the world on fire since they left marvel initially.
We got to gaslight people into thinking Paul is going to be in the film
That would make this movie the boldest Marvel movie of all time. And I'd be there to watch that peak. Bonus points if Paul is played by Timothée Chalamet.
That's not how you spell Paul Giamatti.
Why should I believe the scoopers now when they have been wrong the last dozen times they talked about this movie?
Even if they are right, most of this could easily change to be completely different 3 weeks from now for all we know, this stuff is up in the air for a reason
There was a time when this sub got legitimate leaks. We just got one recently the DD season 2 set photos that actually spoiled major aspects of how S1 will end and the status quo for season 2.
People who make a living off lying about film production deserve to get made fun of. At least RPK is making some claims here, this sub keeps posting Alex Perez's "I don't really know but maybe perhaps this could be" nonsense.
That reads a lot like a rumor meant to capitalize on one of their recent projects flopping critically (despite apparently being a hit on streaming - I dunno what the numbers have been, though EDIT: apparently it bombed in terms of viewership as well). There is no way that the Russos weren't getting a lot more oversight at Marvel Studios than they were at Netflix, Amazon, or Apple (AFAIK, they had none at all for those), even if all of their major projects got 90%+ scores on RT. They're shooters for the studios, not aueters, and Kevin Feige knows this.
I think that the solution is that they might push the release back a little, and perhaps the filming start date, to make sure that the script is as ready and polished as it can be before they inevitably do a few weeks of reshoots later on. I think that this is going to be more of a Captain America: Civil War situation than a Justice League - the studio knows what it wants, and they hired these two because they have successfully worked with them before, and believe they can do so again.
I think it helps that they have relatively few projects in the pipeline that aren't already deep into post-production right now. The predominant focus of the next two years will be two Avengers movies and a Spider-Man sequel, and little else on the film front, along with Daredevil: Born Again and Vision Quest. That's a way lighter workload than what we started The Multiverse Saga with.
As soon as I read "sees the world in black and white," i said, "Mr. Negative?" and then laughed when it said he would appear.
