Subnautica Sea Emperor Guide

TL;DR To interact with the Sea Emperor, you need to hatch her eggs by placing an ion cube in the incubator. After curing yourself, the juvenile emperors will grow and can be found across various biomes.

Hatching the Sea Emperor Eggs

The first step in interacting with the Sea Emperor is to hatch her eggs. This involves placing an ion cube into the incubator located in her aquarium [3:1][3:5]. Once you do this, you'll be able to gather materials for the hatching process, which will lead to the release of the juveniles [3:4].

Finding the Juvenile Emperors

After hatching, the juvenile Sea Emperors will scatter across the map and grow into larger creatures. They can be found in specific locations such as the Mountains, Dunes, Grand Reef, Northern Blood Kelp Zone, and Crag Field [2:1][4:10]. These juveniles are passive and won't harm you, making them a fascinating addition to the game's ecosystem [2:4][2:7].

Interactions with the Juveniles

The juvenile Sea Emperors are friendly and may even snuggle with you if you exit your vehicle [1:2]. They do not take damage, so there's no risk of harming them during encounters [2:6]. Some players have reported amusing interactions, such as using vortex torpedoes to watch them spin [2:3].

Post-Cure Gameplay

Once you cure yourself using the enzyme created from the Sea Emperor's offspring, you can disable the weapon and continue exploring the game world. Many players enjoy discovering the alien caches and observing the grown-up juveniles in their natural habitats [4:1][4:3]. The juveniles grow over time, adding a dynamic element to the game [4:6][4:7].

Troubleshooting Egg Hatching

If you're having trouble receiving instructions from the Sea Emperor, make sure to dive into her aquarium and scan the available items, including the incubator device with five eggs [5:1][5:3]. Scanning these items should provide you with the necessary information to proceed with the hatching process.

I found one on accident in my og save. Freaked me out at first when it started coming at me, but it turns out they snuggle with you if you get out of your vehicle. They remember you saved them 💖

Yep. All five of them promptly grow to this size and scatter across the map. They’ve all got a set location and you can find them all if you look.

Cool thing i found out after finishing the game

Posted by Spifky19945 · in r/subnautica · 5 months ago

So i cured myself and disabled the weapon but didn't leave immediately and just continued to build. After a while i was gathering resources from the northern blood kelp zone when i stumbled upon a sea emperor juvenile and it was grown up. I find it really cool that you can actually find the sea emperors in the world after they are set free and also i like that they do actually grow up. It was just unexpected and really nice.

2 upvotes on reddit

You need to create the cure out of four or five ingredients found in different bio domes. It’s been a long time since I’ve done it. But you should have the recipe in your PDA.

You need to approach the arch and the cube on the floor. She will clean them then and talk to you once more I guess. After that you will be able to gather materials for the hatch.

Try putting an ion cube in the incubator is my one and only hint. You will see the rest :-)

Edit: I see you figured that out now too lol. Good luck! It’s an awesome part of the game.

So I’m coming out of the lost river right below the massive floating island, mind you I didn’t know that was possible but here we are, and as I’m going to the surface I spot a fully grown sea emperor and I had never seen this before. Am I the only one who has seen this?

Well the thing about that is I went through said teleporter but forgot my cyclops was down there just outside the facility so I ended up going right back through the portal and went to my cyclops after some mining then started making my way to the surface so that’s kinda how I ended up finding it

Pretty big juvenile, though, so you must have been down there for quite a while after hatching them.

They do get bigger over time.

Isn't that fun? I loved finding this out on my third playthrough, I'd always just gone straight home after curing, but that time I wanted to discover some of the alien caches I hadn't found yet, and found a juvenile in the grand reef, close to a ghost boy. So of course I had to build an observatory. :D

Does finding the sea emperor end the game ?

I think I know where to find the sea emperor and the cure ect but does doing so end the game ?... there's lots I haven't done yet and I'm really enjoying playing so I don't want it to end .. but my favourite thing is continuing the story and finding new places, so thats what I want to do but I'm scare the game will be completed when I've done so .. is that the case or is there more to do after finding the emperor?

I don't really want spoilers of what's next just advice on whether I should do it now or not ?... hope that makesense ... thanks

If you find the sea emperor you're about 80% done. To find her, you've explored pretty much the whole map, and you feel pretty comfortable with the game. But there's still more to do- remember your objectives still stand of dealing with your infection and escaping the planet.

Considering how old the sea emperor is when you find her, it'd make sense if the main character would die of old age before the sea emperor babies grow so much as a quarter of her size

21 upvotes on reddit
Odd_Gamer_75 · 4 months ago

Yes, and kinda. The babies leave, then if you wander around you can find them again. They're not fully grown, that is they aren't the size of the Sea Emperor in the PCF, but they are vastly bigger than when you first encounter them. I think they're about the size of a Reaper or Ghost. So... y'know... huge. Leviathans. Just not full grown.

They grow up after a few days and move to, the crag field ( behind the Aurora and where life pod seven was last heard from ), the dunes ( is it worth it ), the mountains( again is it worth it ), the grand reef and the northern blood kelp zone ( biggies love those places hehe)

You know em when ya see em they glow and they’ve grown a bit

I even named em ( Queen, King, Pearl, Prince, and Peridot)

They grow up too fast

I didn't read and thought it was based off the fish circling, lol.

It's possible to catch emperor fish in the lower tier though. I know for sure I've gotten them in the rare starting point.

Each area has its own unique types of fish, including emperor fish. If you click that book with a picture of a fish on it in the upper-left corner (under the ranking button), you will see all the types of fish for each area and which you have caught. You have just about the same odds of catching an emperor fish in the first area as you do in the last, it's all about the total number of fish you've caught.

1 upvotes on reddit
galaxyapp · 5 months ago

Fwiw, it doesn't actually matter.

This is a scripted event. The rate of rare and emperor fish are tightly controlled based on the quantity of fish caught.

Intentionally breaking line of common fish will not count for the progression. It's aa if it never happened.

If you Intentionally break 40 common fish lines in a row, accepting any rare or emporer fish casts, you'll notice by the 10th line that every fish is common. You can't "beat the odds".

It might be useful at the very end to climb your way up the curve.

66 upvotes on reddit
3dgemaster · OP · 5 months ago

You are correct, in the long run it matters very little. It matters most near the end when you're doing your final pulls so to speak, is where you may end up with a few more emperors if you pay attention, but it's not a given.

To eat peepers they would have to be aggressive but they are not aggressive so i think them eating Sea Emperor's shredded skin makes more sense as it is told in another comment

Yeah this is a pretty dumb thread, the obvious answer is they would just eat the peepers that come in, even if that wasn’t an option the idea that a hyper advanced alien facility designed to keep animals alive wouldn’t have a feeding system for said animals is pretty dumb

2 upvotes on reddit

Lot of breeding and consuming their young? Or maybe there used to be a lot more there that they already ate. Sea emperor being the sweetheart she is may have let them have a nibble every now and then from her. Most likely scenario though is >!that the aliens that went digital found a way to sustain them all, most likely through the peeper vents or some alternative food source!<

Where is the sea emperor located in subnautica

how to find the sea emperor in subnautica

subnautica sea emperor lore

AI Answer

🤖

subnautica sea emperor guide

Key Considerations for the Sea Emperor in Subnautica

  1. Location: The Sea Emperor can be found in the Inactive Lava Zone, specifically in the Emperor's Containment Facility. You’ll need to navigate through the lava zone to reach it.

  2. Purpose: The Sea Emperor is crucial for the storyline, as it provides the player with the Cure for the Kharaa Bacterium. Interacting with it is essential for progressing in the game.

  3. Interaction: To interact with the Sea Emperor, you need to have the Neptune Escape Rocket blueprint unlocked. Once you have the necessary items, you can create the Cure by using the Sea Emperor's enzyme.

  4. Behavior: The Sea Emperor is generally passive and will not attack you. However, it can be intimidating due to its size. Approach it calmly to avoid startling it.

  5. Enzyme 42: The Sea Emperor produces Enzyme 42, which is key to curing the infection. You will need to collect this enzyme after interacting with the Sea Emperor.

Recommendations:

  • Prepare for Exploration: Before heading to the Inactive Lava Zone, ensure you have a well-equipped submarine (like the Prawn Suit or Cyclops) and plenty of supplies (food, water, and health kits) for the journey.

  • Use the Scanner: Make sure to scan the Sea Emperor and its environment to gather valuable information and lore about the game.

  • Save Your Game: Always save your game before significant interactions, especially before approaching the Sea Emperor, to avoid losing progress if something goes wrong.

By following these tips, you can successfully navigate the Sea Emperor's storyline and enhance your Subnautica experience!
