TL;DR To interact with the Sea Emperor, you need to hatch her eggs by placing an ion cube in the incubator. After curing yourself, the juvenile emperors will grow and can be found across various biomes.
Hatching the Sea Emperor Eggs
The first step in interacting with the Sea Emperor is to hatch her eggs. This involves placing an ion cube into the incubator located in her aquarium [3:1]
[3:5]. Once you do this, you'll be able to gather materials for the hatching process, which will lead to the release of the juveniles
[3:4].
Finding the Juvenile Emperors
After hatching, the juvenile Sea Emperors will scatter across the map and grow into larger creatures. They can be found in specific locations such as the Mountains, Dunes, Grand Reef, Northern Blood Kelp Zone, and Crag Field [2:1]
[4:10]. These juveniles are passive and won't harm you, making them a fascinating addition to the game's ecosystem
[2:4]
[2:7].
Interactions with the Juveniles
The juvenile Sea Emperors are friendly and may even snuggle with you if you exit your vehicle [1:2]. They do not take damage, so there's no risk of harming them during encounters
[2:6]. Some players have reported amusing interactions, such as using vortex torpedoes to watch them spin
[2:3].
Post-Cure Gameplay
Once you cure yourself using the enzyme created from the Sea Emperor's offspring, you can disable the weapon and continue exploring the game world. Many players enjoy discovering the alien caches and observing the grown-up juveniles in their natural habitats [4:1]
[4:3]. The juveniles grow over time, adding a dynamic element to the game
[4:6]
[4:7].
Troubleshooting Egg Hatching
If you're having trouble receiving instructions from the Sea Emperor, make sure to dive into her aquarium and scan the available items, including the incubator device with five eggs [5:1]
[5:3]. Scanning these items should provide you with the necessary information to proceed with the hatching process.
I found one on accident in my og save. Freaked me out at first when it started coming at me, but it turns out they snuggle with you if you get out of your vehicle. They remember you saved them 💖
Yep. All five of them promptly grow to this size and scatter across the map. They’ve all got a set location and you can find them all if you look.
They should make an achievement for that
Require someone to put effort into an achievement?! Blasphemy!
Give it a boop
So i cured myself and disabled the weapon but didn't leave immediately and just continued to build. After a while i was gathering resources from the northern blood kelp zone when i stumbled upon a sea emperor juvenile and it was grown up. I find it really cool that you can actually find the sea emperors in the world after they are set free and also i like that they do actually grow up. It was just unexpected and really nice.
Cool I never realized they grow up!
The ones you meet in the wild are significantly larger than when you meet them, but they don't keep growing. Maybe next game.
So they’re friendly?
I don’t even think they take damage
They do, I accidentally left instagib on in a creative world and sent one to the abyss, they kinda just stop and sink
Side note it's really funny to use a vortex torpedo on them and watch em spin
Yes they are passive, first time i was a bit scared that the younglings might be attacked by the leviathans of the mountains.
First one i saw legit hung out and watched a reaper try to eat me. Fun times
scared the hell outta me first time I saw one of these
The five babies grow into five juveniles that can be found int the Mountains, Dunes, Grand Reef, Northern Blood Kelp Zone, and Crag Field.
I swimmed into her pool, she talked to me, I found her eggs, so... what's next?
Find the cure and the build the neptune
Find the cure
I don't understand. What EXACTLY should I do?
You need to create the cure out of four or five ingredients found in different bio domes. It’s been a long time since I’ve done it. But you should have the recipe in your PDA.
You need to approach the arch and the cube on the floor. She will clean them then and talk to you once more I guess. After that you will be able to gather materials for the hatch.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6GiWhldATY This video answered to my question. I should put an ion cube into the incubator to get progress.
Try putting an ion cube in the incubator is my one and only hint. You will see the rest :-)
Edit: I see you figured that out now too lol. Good luck! It’s an awesome part of the game.
So I’m coming out of the lost river right below the massive floating island, mind you I didn’t know that was possible but here we are, and as I’m going to the surface I spot a fully grown sea emperor and I had never seen this before. Am I the only one who has seen this?
>!The Baby Sea Emperors you release at the end of the game scatter across the whole map and then grow up.!<
Well the thing about that is I went through said teleporter but forgot my cyclops was down there just outside the facility so I ended up going right back through the portal and went to my cyclops after some mining then started making my way to the surface so that’s kinda how I ended up finding it
I knew that they did but how long does it take? i just beat the game
any specific area they go to or is it random?
multiple specific areas, such as mountains and even the bulb zone i think?
I had no idea they grow up, I left not long after. That's so cool
I believe the juveniles that leave through the emperor’s teleporter end up becoming more grown and swim around in various locations after you’re cured
Someone recently posted that once released the pups grow up and patrol the main biomes or something
Yeah they do I played for like 10 more hours after curing and they get big.
That's still only a juvenile.
Pretty big juvenile, though, so you must have been down there for quite a while after hatching them.
They do get bigger over time.
Yeah my cyclops was just outside the containment facility and I didn’t wanna leave it there and I also spent a bit of time mining kyanite
Isn't that fun? I loved finding this out on my third playthrough, I'd always just gone straight home after curing, but that time I wanted to discover some of the alien caches I hadn't found yet, and found a juvenile in the grand reef, close to a ghost boy. So of course I had to build an observatory. :D
So I just saw the sea emperor for the first time and she spoke to me about playing, but I didn't got any instructions while the wiki said she should tell me to hatch her eggs and how. So I'm really confused, am I missing instructions or is it normal ?
Dive into her aquarium and scan things there
The only scannable things I found were the peepers and an arch, what am I missing ?
What about incubator device with five eggs? Did you approach it?
I think I know where to find the sea emperor and the cure ect but does doing so end the game ?... there's lots I haven't done yet and I'm really enjoying playing so I don't want it to end .. but my favourite thing is continuing the story and finding new places, so thats what I want to do but I'm scare the game will be completed when I've done so .. is that the case or is there more to do after finding the emperor?
I don't really want spoilers of what's next just advice on whether I should do it now or not ?... hope that makesense ... thanks
Yup it eats you and you die
My favourite part was when the sea emperor said “it’s sea emperorin time” then sea emperored.
Truly one of the gaming moments in history
I've just completed the game tonight and can confirm this is what happened
The end will be very clear, not something you can accidentally cause to happen. Hope you're enjoying the game.
Nope, that isn’t the end. Even creating the cure isn’t the end.
Is it possible to beat the game without doing that?
I don’t believe you can beat the game without the cure.
Amazing thank you so much 😁
If you find the sea emperor you're about 80% done. To find her, you've explored pretty much the whole map, and you feel pretty comfortable with the game. But there's still more to do- remember your objectives still stand of dealing with your infection and escaping the planet.
Wanting to know where i can find them and if they will be adults at anytime?
Considering how old the sea emperor is when you find her, it'd make sense if the main character would die of old age before the sea emperor babies grow so much as a quarter of her size
Yes, and kinda. The babies leave, then if you wander around you can find them again. They're not fully grown, that is they aren't the size of the Sea Emperor in the PCF, but they are vastly bigger than when you first encounter them. I think they're about the size of a Reaper or Ghost. So... y'know... huge. Leviathans. Just not full grown.
They grow up after a few days and move to, the crag field ( behind the Aurora and where life pod seven was last heard from ), the dunes ( is it worth it ), the mountains( again is it worth it ), the grand reef and the northern blood kelp zone ( biggies love those places hehe)
You know em when ya see em they glow and they’ve grown a bit
I even named em ( Queen, King, Pearl, Prince, and Peridot)
They grow up too fast
I killed every thing thats larger than me in the dunes
I encountered one somewhere between the on the way from the Sea Treader's Path to the Safe Shallows. Sorry, I don't remember the exact location.
It was large, but smaller than the mother. It looked majestic.
Near the floating island, right?
Yes. Not sure how near, but that's the route.
You can find them at various set locations, but they do not grow up.
They do grow up, significantly. Maybe not to maturity but at least to their equivalent of an eight year old or something.
I wish he could be still in the game
I may be misremembering but wasn’t the juveniles shown to live on the outer ends of the map back in early release days?
Early development yes, they were around because they were going to have some kind of role int he story, but then got removed.
Ngl I wish they kept the original storyline with your sister helping you then crash landing later on. The current one felt a bit thrown together last minute
Another reason the original story was way better. Dunno how one managed to cross the void but i suppose if an angry merc could do it floating on a corpse anythings possible
Nah, the bitch used me.
Both used each other lol.
I get it. Her death was kinda sad 😭 I don’t think Sea Emperors could survive in Sector Zero however
yeah
If I can't make a normal fish emperor no point in identifying one
I didn't read and thought it was based off the fish circling, lol.
It's possible to catch emperor fish in the lower tier though. I know for sure I've gotten them in the rare starting point.
Each area has its own unique types of fish, including emperor fish. If you click that book with a picture of a fish on it in the upper-left corner (under the ranking button), you will see all the types of fish for each area and which you have caught. You have just about the same odds of catching an emperor fish in the first area as you do in the last, it's all about the total number of fish you've caught.
Each map is different...
try spending 50 baits. you’ll instantly get an emperor fish if you reel x10. it’s rigged, guys
Fwiw, it doesn't actually matter.
This is a scripted event. The rate of rare and emperor fish are tightly controlled based on the quantity of fish caught.
Intentionally breaking line of common fish will not count for the progression. It's aa if it never happened.
If you Intentionally break 40 common fish lines in a row, accepting any rare or emporer fish casts, you'll notice by the 10th line that every fish is common. You can't "beat the odds".
It might be useful at the very end to climb your way up the curve.
You are correct, in the long run it matters very little. It matters most near the end when you're doing your final pulls so to speak, is where you may end up with a few more emperors if you pay attention, but it's not a given.
My dumb ass thought i was suppose to look at the water splash lvl when I first saw this
I missed the bright lines screaming across my screen until I read your comment. Thank you for mentioning your oversight.
notices very obvious dotted lines... sigh...
it was because the first 2 the splash ligned up with the blue line but the last one didn't so I clicked in and saw the comments
Did the all learn to be vegan or something??
There are peepers going in and out through the vents and they may very well serve as food. Am I wrong about that? Surprised that other replies do not mention it at all when it's a big part of the story
To eat peepers they would have to be aggressive but they are not aggressive so i think them eating Sea Emperor's shredded skin makes more sense as it is told in another comment
Needing to eat isn’t aggression it’s a fact of life.
Yeah this is a pretty dumb thread, the obvious answer is they would just eat the peepers that come in, even if that wasn’t an option the idea that a hyper advanced alien facility designed to keep animals alive wouldn’t have a feeding system for said animals is pretty dumb
I was just making a joke that the sea emperor makes creatures non-violent, so I was asking whether they became herbivores.
Lot of breeding and consuming their young? Or maybe there used to be a lot more there that they already ate. Sea emperor being the sweetheart she is may have let them have a nibble every now and then from her. Most likely scenario though is >!that the aliens that went digital found a way to sustain them all, most likely through the peeper vents or some alternative food source!<
Where do you think the energy to create newborns would come from then?
Shedded skin from the emperor is my head cannon
Makes the most sense, they work as cleaner fish for something that size. I wonder if they can come and go through the pipes or if that's just peepers
The pipes were to distribute enzymes if im not mistaken, and i dont think a stalker would be a good host so i doubt they allowed that
By the power of friendship
Maybe they will eat some old peepers
