What Redditors are Saying

Top Manhwa in the Fantasy Genre

Popular Fantasy Manhwa

Several manhwa have been frequently recommended across discussions for their engaging fantasy elements. Notably, "Tower of God" is a well-known series with a massive world and extensive character development [1:1], [3:1]. Another popular title is "Kubera," which combines adventure, comedy, fantasy, mystery, and romance [3:2]. Both series are praised for their intricate plots and captivating storytelling.

Finished Series

For readers looking for completed fantasy series, "Her Summon" has been mentioned as a finished work worth exploring [2:1]. This can be appealing to those who prefer not to wait for ongoing updates and want a complete narrative experience.

Lighthearted Fantasy Recommendations

If you're interested in fantasy webtoons with less drama and more lighthearted moments, titles like "His Majesty's Proposal," "Levelling Up My Husband to the Max," and "My Gently Raised Beast" might suit your taste [5:1]. These series focus on noble or royal life settings but maintain a lighter tone compared to other dramatic narratives.

Unique and Lesser-Known Titles

For those seeking unique or lesser-known fantasy manhwa, "The Lazy Lord Masters the Sword" and "The Dark Lord's Confession" offer interesting blends of character development, romance, and action [1:1]. Additionally, "Night of Shadows" and "The Blood of the Butterfly" were suggested for readers wanting to explore different fantasy themes [4:1].

Additional Recommendations

Other notable mentions include "Ordeal," "Jungle Juice," and "Gosu," each offering distinct fantasy experiences [3:1]. For a mix of comedy within the fantasy genre, "Strongest Florist" provides an entertaining read [3:3].

These recommendations span various sub-genres and styles within fantasy, ensuring that there's something for every type of reader. Whether you prefer epic adventures, completed stories, or lighter narratives, the fantasy manhwa landscape offers a rich variety of options to explore.

ORIGINAL POST

I've read many webtoons but found that my taste gravitates to fantasy - but have been struggling to find more good ones. Here's some I enjoyed: -Marionetta -Sable Curse -Suitor Armour -Of Swamp and Sea -Vampire Librarian -Punderworld -After Dark

I don't really mind the art style but don't like the types that usually have 'Empress, Reincarnated, Villainess, The Duke, Countess, Remarried' those sort of ones.

Don't mind romance as long as it isn't the whole plot, and I don't really like drawn out plots either that just drag on and on with filler episodes.

Fantasy series that are actually finished

Posted by NadiBRoZ1 · in r/manhwarecommendations · 6 months ago

Hey, I'm quite new to the manhwa world, but I've read a few things here and there.

Fantasy is my favorite genre, and there are so many fantasy series in the manhwa, but most of it is just cheap slop. The good series, at least those that I find, are always still serializing. Are there any well-written fantasy series that are also finished?

Fantasy Webtoons with little drama?

Posted by Silent0nyx · in r/webtoons · 2 months ago
post image

I’d love some more recommendations for Webtoons where the main characters actually get some time to chill out and just have fun instead of constantly worrying about being in danger. The images are some examples of my favorites, I do prefer the ones in a noble/royal life but it’s not necessarily a requirement.

Great fantasy manhwa recommendations?

Posted by AloneUA · in r/manga · 4 years ago

I've started discovering manhwa recently and so far I've read:

  • Tower of God
  • Solo Leveling
  • The Skeleton Soldier Couldn't Protect the Dungeon

Wondering if there's something similar and equally interesting to read. Preferably with a decent chunk of chapters to go through.

If you think there's something amazing to check out even if it's not that similar to the ones I've read, that's fine too. I really like unusual worlds and works that subvert the good ol' tropes in the genre.

Thanks in advance!

Fantasy manga/comics that aren’t isekai or making fun of 90s RPG tropes?

As the title says; looking for medieval(-ish) fantasy manga and comics, just not those involving dudes from our world becoming the most powerful, popular hero dude in all of derivative RPG land.

Witch Hat Atelier is a manga about a girl learning to become a witch, and has gorgeous artwork! It starts off pretty lighthearted, but gets into some of the ethical issues about controlling the use of magic.

I also really like webcomics, and since they are free it's easy to check them out to see if they are for you. Here are some non-isekai/RPG recommendations:

Castle Swimmer

Dimitra and the Silver Mask

Gawain's Girlfriend and the Green Knight

Grimenna

How to Become a Dragon

Kill Six Billion Demons (this has a person from "our world" traveling to other universes, but none of the other isekai tropes)

Lady Knight

Necropolis (this webcomic has been on hiatus for so long I don't think it will get finished, but I think it still worth checking out for the art alone)

Spells from Hell

Ten Earth Shattering Blows

The Queen and the Woodborn

The Thief of Tales

Tiger, Tiger

Vainglorious

Wilde Life

Wolfsbane

Fantasy manga where you can't go wrong;

Berserk, Claymore, Frieren, Dungeon Meshi

10 upvotes on reddit

+1 for Claymore, often overlooked because of the more popular Berserk, it's a great fantasy manga with darker themes but I would say has a more complete and engaging story.

Frieren has been great so far

Seconding Dungeon Meshi, it does so many things right. It admittedly did kind of start out as being very referential to the tropes of RPGs (dungeon diving a as a profession, parties with different fantasy archetypes, deaths being temporary) but it really built up a unique lore and lovable and complex cast of characters that is totally worth reading

Definitely Sandman by Neil Gaiman. That story is amazing. Also:

Swamp Thing by Alan Moore (and others)

John Constantine, Hellblazer by various authors

The Wicked + the Divine by Kieron Gillen
