Character Development and Themes
Yuta Okkotsu plays a significant role in "Jujutsu Kaisen" by embodying the theme that love can be a powerful source of energy. Unlike many characters driven by insanity, greed, or power, Yuta's strength comes from his deep emotional connections, particularly with Rika, which makes him relatable and compelling [1]. His character development is marked by self-discovery and the willingness to become a "monster" for his friends, showcasing his dedication and loyalty
[1:1].
Narrative Role and Relationships
Yuta serves as a pillar for the next generation of sorcerers, supporting Gojo by sharing burdens and acting as a mentor-like figure to younger characters like Yuji and Megumi [4:1]. His interactions emphasize friendship and camaraderie, making him a well-rounded character who contrasts sharply with antagonists like Sukuna
[2:1]. Despite his immense power, Yuta is portrayed as kind-hearted, standing out among the more rough-edged cast
[4:12].
Power and Abilities
Yuta is one of the most powerful characters in the series, possessing a unique cursed technique (CT) that allows him to copy others' abilities, which is considered one of the best CTs in the manga [1:1]. He is admired and renowned within jujutsu society, considered second only to Gojo
[3]. However, there are hints that his abilities may not be as impressive as they seem, suggesting potential growth or challenges ahead
[5].
Potential Future Developments
There is speculation about Yuta's future role in the series, with some fans predicting he might sacrifice himself to save others or take down major threats like Sukuna or Kenjaku [5]. Others believe he will continue to play a crucial role in battles against these antagonists, possibly teaming up with Maki
[5:4]. His narrative arc remains intriguing due to the mysteries surrounding his techniques and true potential
[4:5].
Conclusion
Yuta Okkotsu's role in "Jujutsu Kaisen" is multifaceted, serving as a powerful sorcerer, a supportive friend, and a symbol of love's strength. His interactions and relationships with other characters enrich the story, while his abilities and potential future developments keep fans engaged and speculating about his fate.
TLDR for if you don't want to the read the whole thing; Yuta's purpose in Jujutsu Kaisen is to demonstrate that love is a powerful source of energy, contrasting with the common motivations of insanity, selfishness, greed, and power.
As a pillar for the next generation of sorcerers, Yuta's character shines in interactions with others, emphasizing friendship and love. His ongoing self-discovery makes him relatable.
He supports Gojo by sharing burdens and is willing to become a "monster" for his friends, making him a compelling and well-rounded character.
In-depth analysis of Yuta as a character:
Yuta's purpose in the story is to show that Love is a powerful source of energy. People in JJK are usually motivated by insanity, selfishness, greed, and power. But Yuta is motivated by Love; that is his point in the story.
And also to be a pillar for the Next Generation of Sorcerers.
Yuta is also another example of how a prodigious sorcerer gets made. Gojo is related to Sugawara-no-Michizane, born knowing all about Jujutsu thanks to being in the Gojo Clan, born with the Six Eyes, the Star Plasma Vessel, and Tengen. A sorcerer made by Fate.
Yuji is the son of Jin Itadori, who is the brother of Sukuna. And from the perspective of JJK Cosmology, Yuji is actually the son of Sukuna. Literally tinkered with and made to be perfect by Kenjaku. High proficiency with Black Flashes as well. Has the extreme potential to become OP. And faced all forms of hurdle whether physically, emotionally, mentallty etc. A sorcerer that was made through his Potential being unlocked with Determination.
Yuta is an anomaly as well. He came from a family that wasn't sorcerers like Geto's family (and it is implied his parents are shit). He has been Cursed by Sugawara-no-Michizane, which are his Immense CE Reserves. He is related to not only the Gojo Clan but also the Fujiwara Clan. His status as OP came from Cursing his childhood best friend, whom he didn't want to lose. A sorcerer that was Blessed/Cursed.
What I truly find interesting about Yuta is that he doesn't truly have an ideology like Yuji, for example. You have to remember that he is only 17 years old. Ever since he was eleven, he has been distanced from the rest of the world and has locked himself away from humanity as a whole due to the Rika Incident.
He is basically not only new to the Jujutsu World but to the world itself. He is still learning a lot about the world and who he is as a person. Yuta doesn't even understand himself necessarily; he is still learning, just like everybody else.
But characters like Yuji and Megumi have a somewhat developed childhood. Especially Yuji.
Even when he is fighting Geto, he literally says he doesn't know if Geto is right or wrong. All he says is that he likes the feeling of having friends, and he wouldn't give that up for the world. He wouldn't give that up for anything; he knows what it feels like to be loved again now, and he knows what it feels like to love people.
That's basically Yuta's ideology; he could probably share an ideology with Gojo since Yuta has been shown to take aspects from different people a lot of the time. So he wants to make a world similar to what Gojo does.
His ideology by himself is really that he wants to protect his friends. Judging a character based on what they add to the story is very dumb, imo, because thats exactly the thing you need to analyze about characters specifically and who they are as people because when you try to say "this character doesn't bring anything to the story," you miss a lot of information that will help you understand why they are important.
Yuta's character shines the best with other people, with other social moments, in a moment where he's intercacting with other characters (Inumaki, Maki, Panda, Yuji, Gojo) because his character is about friendship and love.
Also, the manga doesn't really give a lot of information about Yuta because he's not a focused character. At least, not back THEN. Even then, they do share how he sees the world as a person during the Uro fight: "Don't you have a lover or friends?." That shows what's most important to Yuta, because he can't imagine a world without it now that he has gotten a taste of it.
Now though? His purpose in the story is undeniably to be the second Gojo. Not in just strength alone, but because Yuta doesn't want Gojo to share all of his burden by himself. Yuta actively tries to carry some of Gojo's burdens, and he doesn't want Gojo to do certain things.
Like killing Kenjaku because he didn't want Gojo to kill his best friend again. Yuta felt like he failed to do his job cuz Geto still lived; thus, Gojo was forced to kill Geto himself. Even when he doesn't need to or isn't obligated to. So he wanted to kill Kenny cuz he felt it was his responsibility cuz of his past mistakes, aka not being able to originally kill Geto.
He's willing to become the monster Gojo was, even if no one else does it. This goes into his purpose of being a backup for anyone. This was said by Maki too, as she says he is basically their insurance for the Shinjuku fight. If Gojo goes down, he is their next best bet.
I like him because he is a relatable character too. I guarantee that 95% of the people here can't relate to my Glorious White Haired Blue Eyed King, Gojo.
The 2 Flowers That The Honored One Blossomed
Yuta is a character you can relate to on a spiritual level because of being depressed, whether it's cuz of actions that happened in your life or things that you think about often, but then finding friends or just a group of people you can be with, be yourself with, and help you come out of your shell. Basically, you think you now have a family—not a blood-related one, but still a family that you can be with and that can help you genuinely.
This is the part of Yuta that is most relatable: having troubles in life but still being able to push forward because of the people in your life. Even if you don't like your life necessarily, you still push onward because you know there are people who love you and are there for you. Most of these people we have are prolly our friends, people who aren't blood related to us, but it still feels like a blood-related bond.
GEGEEEEE! WHAT DOES GOJO HAVING HIS EYE CLOSED MEAN!!!
Also the complaints about Yuta being an "OC character" is so fucking retarded like being related to Gojo and Fujiawara along with Copy is dumb as hell considering you would be SLANDERING Yuji GOATADORI with this.
Yuji is literally related to Sukuna and Kenjaku, has 2 CTs at all times which are Shrine and Blood Manipulation.
The only time Yuta ever has more CE than Sukuna is when he fully manifests Rika for 5 MINUTES. And even still, it doesn't compare to Gojo due to his high reserves having less cost thanks to the Six Eyes.
Instead we should appreciate BOTH of them for being the GOATED characters they are!
Well, Yuta can afford to be strong without being an evil maniac becauee he is just THAT gifted
Nitta is a good person and probably believes in love as well but, well, he is nitta
But regardless of what I said, Yuta definitely proves why love is an effective factor.
W cooking by OP
Well its also cuz Yuta himself has legit been Cursed due to his shit life for 7 yrs with Cursed Spirit Rika. In-fact Yuta wouldn't even awaken his Sugawara CE Reserves if it wasn't for his parents being neglectful, and seeing Rika's skull fucking caved in.
And Yuta now has the Curse of being the Strongest. Everyone relies on him to succeed similar to Gojo... which we see taking it's effect
It is true though that genetics play a huge factor.
I still think he has one last big role to play at least, after he overcomes burnout, with all the panels of rika (who has the last finger) and kenjaku's mystery.
Wrong sub to say this man, this is jujutsufolks, filled with retards who only push their agendas, ignoring all Logic.
This is genuinly such a fantastic analysis, but sadly mothefuckers here will not read anything just like how they dont read the story itself and only take agendas and recaps as ''facts''.
10/10 analysis,0/10 for posting it in such a dumbfuck filled sub.
Ngl gang I put posts like this on Jujutsufolk cuz Jujutushi's karma requirement at the time lol. Now I just have fun with it!
Seriously, bro. Good work.
Ain't gonna read it but i agree
This is an amazing analysis and what I’ve come to conclude myself as his greatest investor (self proclaimed). With that said I’d like to add one more major piece of Yuta’s character I’ve found that ties to exactly what you just said. That is the nature of Copy
Yuta’s copy is quite possibly the best CT that represents their character in the entire manga. Copy by nature is parasitic in the sense that you have to harm another person to copy their technique (Rika ingesting a part of the target) in addition Rika’s manifestation in JJK 0 is also parasitic as it’s the result of Yuta binding her soul to himself (by accident of course). In fact Kenny highlights this in saying that Yuta’s power comes from binding of Rika’s soul which just furthers the point
So what does this mean and how does it highlight Yuta’s character? Well in JJK0 Yuta’s goal his entire character and arc had one main goal. That goal was not to release Rika though, that was a goal but not THE goal. THE goal was that he wanted to know it was ok for him to be alive (This was shown in his conversation with Maki and with Gojo and through his actions). In response to this Maki tells him to keep exorcising then and to never stop. This is when we see Rika’s first full manifestation and how he uses Rika to do good. Coming back to the copy then we can now we see that it is the reflection of that goal and that entire arc.
Going back to the nature of copy he has to take a part of the target and in return he gets their power. This highlights what Kenny says about the binding of his loved one’s soul. He then uses this power to justify his own life and actions claiming to kill Kenny, getting 400 points, not leaving Gojo alone etc. which highlights what Maki tells him he needs to do to justify his life. Exorcise and exorcise again. The climax of both of these points is when he takes the binding of one’s soul literally and in 261 takes Gojo’s body, his beloved mentor and savior, to use his power to help others. What this shows then is that Yuta’s copy is a reflection of his main character arc and shows how he has grown from being afraid to use his power/not knowing how to. To his progression into someone who justifies the means by the end (his monster arc and mastery of Copy)
Tl;dr Yuta’s copy is a nearly perfect reflection of his character arc in JJK 0 and this is reflected by statements made by maki and Kenjaku as well as Yuta’s actions in Sendai and Shinjuku
Weeks ago I discussed the dichotomy that existed between Sukuna and Maki here. I also wanted to explore Yuji and Yuta in connection to the King of Curses, so here's a character breakdown for all of them.
TLDR: Yuji is a sacrificial love, Yuta is a harmonious love, and Maki is a rational love, but Sukuna is without love at all. If it's too long, I recommend simply reading the section that interests you, and the final section. Original post with images for easier read.
Hana, and even Sukuna himself, refer to him as "the Fallen/Disgraced." [1][2]
Sukuna's backstory remains a mystery. Most of the information revealed about Sukuna's past comes from other characters, so others tend to shape how readers view his backstory. The most objective depiction of Sukuna comes from Yorozu's flashback, when he sits alone with Uraume by his side. Even then, Yorozu's own memories shape his attitude and the scenario Gege depicts of this past event. Honestly, he looks bored.
My analysis will be dedicated to Yuji, Yuta, and Maki respectively. I will demonstrate the ways that the three of them act as foils to Sukuna, and explore what they may reveal about him and his true nature.
Similar to Sukuna, people other than Yuji shape the way readers understand his past. Kenjaku and Wasuke have revealed all the information readers knows about Yuji's past as a child made to house Sukuna. [3]
Throughout the story, Yuji repeatedly demonstrates his willingness to sacrifice himself for others. Yuji ate Sukuna's finger to save Megumi, he accepted death by Sukuna to save Megumi, and he planned to let Angel kill him to save Megumi. Each scenario was meant to kill Yuji, yet he acted without fear each time.
Yuji's sacrificial love, seemingly targeted directly to Megumi, reveals his fatal flaw. His resignation to death can be read as a coping mechanism for giving up early. For example, after Shibuya, Yuji was ready to quit right there due to the guilt of what Sukuna had done. Todo's speech gave him new hope to fight, yet Yuji relapsed after meeting Hana. His readiness to kill himself to save Megumi reflects his desire to do the "easy thing."
Yuji's sacrificial love also marks him as a hero. Sukuna has tried to break his spirit, but Yuji remains steadfast in his beliefs that love prevails. [4][5]
Yuji's love for others shapes his steadfast will that motivates him to fight, despite his painful losses. Yet, Yuji has a strange discernment for his own responsibility that's informed by his inclination to self-sacrifice. He places the blame of Sukuna's actions onto himself; instead of advocating for his own autonomy that obviously challenges Sukuna's, he readily accepts a death sentencing from Judgeman. Yuji's selfless nature, as opposed to Sukuna, actually makes him too eager to take responsibility for others' actions. In return, Sukuna's selfishness grounds him in reality and informs his awareness of his own responsibility. Sukuna would never think of feeling responsible of anything Yuji does.
Yuji begging for that dark night
Yuji's extreme selfless nature represents why he and Sukuna directly oppose each other. Sukuna refers to himself as human in the past tense, meaning he sees himself as having evolved beyond that condition. Uraume echoed something similar to Hakari. Yuji's fears that lead him to immediately choosing his own death over others' shape his humanity, and according to Sukuna and Uraume, shackles him from his own growth. To put it simply, Yuji is willing to go down without a fight if it means saving others. This attitude is what marks him as the sacrificial hero.
I wager that Yuji's story will end as a tragedy. He will likely sacrifice himself to stop Sukuna, as he planned to do for Megumi anyway. Kenjaku declared that as long as Yuji and Sukuna exist, bad things will keep happening. Since birth, Yuji has been tied to Sukuna and remains the only person who can host him without immediately losing control. Even if circumstances may not demand it from him, Yuji would likely jump to the opportunity to sacrifice himself for Megumi and everyone else.
As established above, Sukuna represents isolation and lovelessness. Uro warned Yuta that for him to gain power and transcend, discarding love and becoming a calamity would be an inevitable step in his path. Yet, Yuta disagreed and regards himself as being blessed. [6][7][8]
There are two main implications to Yuta's blessed distinction:
Just after Ryu says he doesn't understand why he's blessed, Yuta continues with the plan he and his friends made to save Tsumiki.
Yuta can't understand a loveless nature
Gege uses Yuta and Rika to represent an idea of harmonious, mutual love via wedding motifs. To activate his true power where he harmonizes with Rika, Yuta dons a ring on his fourth finger, which is commonly considered the finger for a wedding band. His domain expansion has even more wedding themes that accentuate this motif. [9][10][11]
Yuta's power comes directly from his love for his friends and Rika. It's unquestionable and true; Gege uses Yuta to show an idea of true love rooted in adolescent bonds. While he and Rika were only kids when they promised to marry one another, Yuta felt so powerfully about this promise that it still affects him years later.
Uro's warning to Yuta was useless, because his true power relies on love. Yuta can't "awaken" any kind of powerup that would force his story to resemble Sukuna's or become a calamity in the same way as him. Sukuna's loveless nature directly contradicts the source of Yuta's power. Yuta will not become a calamity like Sukuna because it contradicts his story's foundation and the literal source of his power.
Maki is the one of the three that resembles Sukuna the most, in terms of characterization and sensibilities. Both are described as something beyond human, with Maki being called a monster and Sukuna called a calamity. I have already gone into great detail about the ways Gege has tied their characters together since Hidden Inventory, so I will casually reference information such as their paralleled connection to Gojo and Toji.
While the backstab in 251 cemented the connection between the Toji -> Gojo and Maki -> Sukuna, the fight in 253 developed the more immediate motivations within the narrative between the two. The art and Sukuna's monologue demonstrated how tied these two have become. Toji and Gojo act as a narrative vehicle to foreshadow the events of this final duel. Yet, the events of 253 finally give both Maki and Sukuna a reason between the two of them to fight with everything on the line. 253 provides the appropriate stakes for their clash. [12][13]
Throughout the chapter, Gege depicts both Maki and Sukuna with shadows obscuring their faces and bodies, demonstrating a shared darkness within them. [14][15][16]
Both monsters seek to eliminate the other, creating a drastic scenario for Maki to end the battle so her injured friends don't have to fight anymore. Sukuna has finally found an opponent that makes him excited and has pushed him to use more of his power. The difference in their motivations exemplify their relationship to love and their own egos. [17][18]
Both Maki and Sukuna put themselves and their own power first. While Sukuna discards love, Maki holds onto her bonds with her friends and sees herself as a protective force. Her desire to protect Yuta from Sukuna exemplifies her obvious capacity for love, and her role as a protector.
What do Yuji, Yuta, and Maki reveal about Sukuna?
Uraume distinguishes a human from whatever they represent. When they acknowledge Hakari's powerful reverse cursed technique as being above Gojo and Sukuna, Uraume no longer sees him as human. Not only is it Hakari's rct that makes Uraume respect him, but also his willingness to sacrifice his body to fight. The ascension, or change, that Uraume describes requires both power and the will to use it. [19][20][21]
Sukuna's title as "the fallen/ disgraced one" will likely be tied to Uraume's idea of a being who transcends their own inherit humanity. Sukuna sees himself as someone who stands alone as the greatest, and he reached that peak with the purpose to maintain it. Yorozu, Gojo, and Kashimo's sympathy for him reads more like projection rather than a real understanding of Sukuna. Uraume and Sukuna both describe themselves as something better and other than human; this distinction may be apart of Sukuna's real cursed technique and his hidden past.
Notes on 253 because why not:
I absolutely love the attention to detail. I do have an inkling that it was each one of yuji, yuta and maki that earned sukuna’s recognition in a way. Yuji got sukuna pissed from how dedicated he was and my boy aint done yet. Maki caused him so much excitement that he relished the fight. And it think this specific moment will be the downfall of sukuna cuz he never displayed such a desire for something. Sukuna is basically an adrenaline junkie looking for anything or anyone to push him to his limits. Im not sure how yuta might have challeneged sukuna exactly but I think its purely his connection and usage of rika that might have given a hard time during their fight.
Really great point about Rika. I was slightly confused by Sukuna's lack of reaction to Yuta, but I think you're right about Rika being the main difference. While Yuta and Yuji fought with cursed techniques, Rika fought mostly with punches and strength. Rika was the one throwing Sukuna into disadvantageous positions for Yuji and Yuta. She tipped the scales.
Sukuna is definitely an adrenaline junky, and stopping his rct just to put all his ce into physical stats could have a major payoff sooner than later. He's supposed to be working on overtime to heal his soul wound....interesting.
Will you make an analysis on Mahito here?
I really should. Maybe I'll do a Mahito, Yuji, and Sukuna post. I feel like there's more to learn about Yuji from seeing his relation to both of them.
An analysis on Mahito and Junpei would be more amazing imo.
Everything was good until you said maki was gonna be the one to end sukuna. I still believe yuji is the one to do it since sukunas story started with yuji only right he ends it a bit like kenjakus story being linked to yuta and him being the one to land the final blow.
In the Yuji section, I say I imagine it ending with Yuji giving his life to take out Sukuna. Final duel doesn't mean the end of the story. There's a lot of ways the end could go after Sukuna and Maki end their battle.
Bro, I have a have feeling Yuji will show his domain expansion soon. Nobody talks about it. I have a feeling this will be the end for Sucuna.
Honestly, your posts are good and interesting, but it definitely feels like you have a bias towards Maki sometimes, not gonna lie. (Also, my glorious pookie bear king Kusakabe is gonna put all 3 of those bums to shame with his fight. Kusakabe's planning carried, without him those bums get washed.)
Looool I only started reading the manga because of Maki's story, so I won't deny my bias. Still, I really do love Yuji and Yuta. In this particular scenario, being compared to Sukuna, they contrast him the most.
I was going to do a solo Yuji and Yuta post, respectively, but I feel like so much of their story has already been said here. From what I've seen, Maki's the one lacking in character analysis. People still seriously believe that she's nothing more than a Toji clone, even though she preceeds him.
And I really would like a cool Kusakabe moment. Gege's a big fan of Bleach, so I know he wants to draw a cool katana scene!!
If you have any thoughts about what you'd like analyzed about Yuta or Yuji, I'd love some recommendations. I do this for the enjoyment!
Haven’t seen a post as good as this in a while. Guess I’m too used to people who didn’t actually read lmao
Thank you! I really appreciate it. These are fun for me, and I'm glad others can enjoy.
Yuta so far:
My man is basically living on Easy Mode while the actual MC Yuji is undergoing character development every arc.
If something happens to either Yuta or Maki I'm gonna hunt down Gege myself
I've been living in Gege's wardrobe since Gojo gone so if u need smthing just tell me 👍
stab him in his fucking eyehole if he kills off yuta
But his life prior sucked. therefore there's still some hope cope for Yuji!!
Yea, if yuji dies I'm writing uro x Rika ntr *
Bro Yuta will be too into that for it to be NTR, it will probably turn into a threesome
Write Geto x Rika NTR instead. His cursed spirit manipulation is perfect for NTR.
if it was manipulation wouldn’t it be non consensual too? I don’t think Geto would be a rapist
had to watch his lover die a gruesome death at a young age
was abandoned by his family cus of rika and wasn’t allowed to meet his sister
was haunted for years
And through all of that his life is still the nicer one out of the main cast lol
Yuta: Gets power, friends, clout, and love handed to him on a silver platter. Only loss was his childhood crush (and a brief period of being suicidal).
Yuji every 5 chapters he's in:
Don’t know if this is a hot take, but I like Yuta much more in the role he has now than as a main character. JJK handles OP characters incredibly well, and the way Yuta is set up in the main series makes him intimidating at first and then really kind after the reveal that he’s on Gojo’s side. But in volume 0, Yuta isn’t handled nearly as great in my eyes since he’s a main protagonist. He feels like the standard nice guy shonen MC in volume 0. Making him a side character and letting Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara take the spot light makes his personality much more likeable and overall makes him as a character more enjoyable
Yuta and even Maki have more narrative relevance then Nobara, it will hurt the story if he get sideland just because some people want other characters in the spot light.
And I think that Gege make it clear that Yuta isn't your typical nice guy main character, he didn't get angry when Geto talked about his Genocide plan and said that he didn't know if Geto was right or wrong, he simply want to kill him to insure the life of himself and the rest of his friends.
He don't have Saving people as a main goal or being portrayed as a typical good boy like Yuji.
I guess everyone see the characters from their own prospective.
Very true. But I also think we are going to see Nobara relevance in the story for two potential reasons.
I would say that the mystery that surrounds him these days is also a positive factor that makes him more charismatic. The unknowns that hover about his techniques and true potential, Rika.... this "vacuum" in the character's growth time that we don't follow... In addition to having obtained the respect of several characters who constantly mention his name as example of someone strong. All this makes him more intriguing as a character. And everything that intrigues us and that carries a mystery... tends to attract attention. The current Yuta has definitely become a more interesting character.
What’s kind of funny now is that him being a nice guy kind of makes him stand out since the rest of the cast are pretty rough around the edges. That being said, in his return, he’s clearly carrying himself much more confidently than he used to. I also don’t think he’s going to that much of a side character going forward, I think he’ll get the kind of treatment Maki has been getting.
This post is more a megathread or a huge discussion post about Yuta as in his power, use of the story, some questions we can discuss about him, how good of a character he is, voice actor or seiyuu, about the movie etc.
Overall, it's essentially just a big Yuta Okkotsu Thread we can discuss about.
Posted this as an image post so people can actually see it.
Ask some questions and I'll answer it.
I think he will be the replacement for Gojo.
Plus he is the former protagonist so it makes sense for him to have that role at least, in a way.
>I think he will be the replacement for Gojo.
Defeats the point of him being sealed then. Yuta won't replace gojo since Gege hated it enough hvaing gojo around in the first place
I think the death flag this raises is that no one can actually be the next Gojo. Kenjaku implied that he could in fact kill Gojo, but didn’t because Six Eyes would just be reborn. If Okkotsu really gets in Kenjaku’s way, he’ll kill him.
Itadori is alive because he is Kenjaku’s pawn. Sukuna is reincarnated because he is Kenjaku’s pawn. Mahito lasted so long only bc he was a pawn. I generally see serious underestimation of Kenjaku’s power in most discussions, I think Okkotsu needs to work smarter not harder if he’s going to survive.
Edit: Since everybody's freaking out, I'll explain the implication that Kenjaku can kill Gojo. First, he never says that he cannot kill Gojo (even back in ch 11. he's manipulating Jogo into his plan, but not saying he can't kill Gojo). His objective was always to seal. We assume it's because he can't kill him. But as we learn in 145, it's because he has killed a Six Eyes holder before, they reincarnate and show up again, and so this keeps Gojo permanently out of the picture as if he were dead. Second, sealing Gojo is supposed to be impossible, too, but he did that. At Gojo's peak, not when he was a kid. Third, Infinity is not air tight, literally. Gojo can breathe through it, and also in HI, it's stated that the autodetection does not apply to poisons (76) (perhaps 'yet,' but we don't know that). And Domain Amplification can nullify Infinity as well. Overall, Kenjaku has systematically removed anyone in his way, with planning and cursed tools that even Gojo tried to run from. Considering Gojo apparently destroyed Inverted Spear, he doesn't think he's unkillable either.
Edit 2: I use the word "imply" on purpose.
Gege's usage of Yuta rn is just: 👌
It's the best thing he could've done to him, since if Gege gave Yuta the standard "former protag" protocol then, he would just be a plot device made just for growth, nerfed for the story and severely underused, him as a side character is just great and we wouldn't hate him even if he was used badly as a result from that.

The Q&A section questions from the Character Book for both Maki and Yuta kinda relate to one another. It's not much to go off of but it feels like a bit of a tease
Personally I am really looking forward to him playing the "senpai" and "teacher-like" role to Yuji and honestly Megumi too (we know Yuta is one of the only other older students that Megumi heavily respects). He definitely has incredible potential power wise and now that Gojo is sealed I am looking forward to seeing much more of Yuta's powers and finally learning more about his CT, ESPECIALLY the limitations on it.
Also this is kind of random but I wouldn't mind seeing some type of light romance develop between him and Maki since Gege sort of teased at that in some of his interviews.
Anyone else think Gege is setting up Yuta to die? Think about it, he is already reaching his peak and a lot of characters like uro, ishigoori, kenjaku all comment on how he isn't as impressive as we're being led to believe despite his amazing abilities.
Personally based on the latest chapter I wouldn't be surprised if he sacrifices himself to free gojo, taking either Sukuna or Kenjaku with him before he goes. It would be a good send off for our old MC sacrificing himself to save sorcerers and finally getting to reunite with Rika in the after-life. Yuta is my favorite JJK character but it would make perfect sense for him to die, he already had his story.
Sorry Maki-Yuta stans as fond as they are of each other I don't see Maki and Yuta working out unless Gege really wants it to happen, what do you guys think ?
I think he will die.
Kenjaku will aknowledge that Yuta was indeed, a big deal, but Yuta will die.
Nah, we get Yuta and Maki Vs Kenjaku. And they win
Thank god you aren’t writing jjk😭
Nah. I think Itadori is being set up to die. Sukuna's massacre sent him into a spiral, and his role as a vessel to ensure Sukuna's death makes me feel like he's slowly resigning himself to death.
Aged like milk :p
I never understood the “ He had his story so it’s perfect for him to die “ argument. It’s just such a cliche ending for a character.
Or prob hyping him up
I think he should be feeling more of the weight and responsibility of being the strongest now that Gojo is boxed. Gojo always felt that burden of being the sorcerer at the top and there is a void to be filled. Yuta is the most obvious to assume it.
Now if him taking that on temporarily results in his death who can say. I'd just like him to take over a bit more than he has. We'll see in CG phase two probably.
His powers in the prequel volume (Jujutsu Kaisen 0) are extremely unique, and he’s believed to be the strongest current student. My question, however, is where is this man at? Have there been any hints as to his location that I may have missed? I love his character a lot, and am extremely excited to see him pop up in the main storyline.
The last we see him in the manga he was in Africa with Miguel
The post is kinda spoilery so spoiler tag will be good
Ahh damn I might have missed this, can you please point out which chapter or arc this is mentioned??
It was like a cover picture on chapter 33
It’s so interesting to me that he ended up meeting up with Miguel. I want to know how it happened.
I’ll tag it real quick. I appreciate it!
Yea tag this especially since the Prequel manga is being officially translated by Viz now.
Practicing ignorance is bliss. Let him have a happy life.
What is his ability And is the jujutsu kaisen 0 based on the manga of jujutsukaisen 0
The basic jist is that his childhood love named Rika died and came back as a vengeful cursed spirit that is tied to him. Rika has basically an infinite pool of cursed energy, she's extremely powerful and can mimic cursed techniques.
Yuta is then able to shape Rika's cursed energy (and his own) for his own use.
Also yes the movie is based on the manga.
But that manga is just 4 chs long
There's plenty in those chapters for a moive tho. And also the movie has more scenes about the Night of 1000 Curses or whatever it's called not just Yuta vs Geto
Theyre long chapters
50 pages per chapter.
This is my first time doing a character scaling post. I'm on mobile so I can't do that fancy trick with the images. Please be nice with the feedback. If the movie diverges from the manga I'll be sure to mention it.
A lot of people around here often downplay JJK0 Yuta, and think that he is a weaker character that is carried by VCS Rika. And while Rika is definitely stronger then Yuta, I don't think she necessarily carries him as hard when it comes to the later parts of JJK0.
PART 1: HIS TALENT AND NOT BEING AN AVERAGE SORCERER.
The first part I want to go over is his mastery of outputting RCT and how talented he is in general. This is a very big deal as only a handful of characters (3 to be exact) can output RCT and heal others. This is something not even Gojo or Kenjaku have the ability to do. And while I don't think he's as strong as them in JJK0, it still goes to show how talented he is. This makes something like fighting cursed spirits easier to do, because if you insert RCT into them, it does a lot of damage.
In regards to his general talent he is not an ordinary kid. Even with Rika leaving at the end of JJK0, Yuta was able to obtain the title of special grade in only 3 months. While this part isn't considered JJK0 (unless you count the ending scene from the movie, this Yuta would be closer in power to Sendai Yuta, but I digress). It still goes to show much much of a prodigy he is.
PART 2: YUTA JJK0 SCALING (and some Geto Scaling)
This is the long part. So get your popcorn ready.
The main source for this section will be the JJK0 movie. This is where Yuta and Geto have fights. So starting off with Yuta, before he even fights Geto he has to deal with a swarm of cursed spirits. He uses cursed speech in order to kill them off. This is impressive because he dispatched a large group of them, and cursed speech has a recoil effect when using it.
Before we talk about Yuta's scaling in regards to fighting Geto. We need to talk about Geto's scaling and the cursed tool he uses.
For his general stats he should be pretty good in that department. The reasoning for this is because of the reinforcement limits a body has as noted by Mei Mei. For reference Mei Mei is only 2 years older then Geto and Gojo, she is a fourth year in Hidden Inventory and Geto is only a second year, Mei Mei may have reached her bodies reinforcement limit.
The reason I bring this up is because of Kenjaku. He is a sorcerer who took over Geto's body. While his output is probably higher and that can impact your physical stats, I don't think it's that much higher when compared to Geto when he uses his tool. Kenjaku is someone who is praised for his physical showings in a qna gege did. In this, he stated that after Toji, Gojo and Kenjaku were equal in grip strength. There is another statement talking about hand to hand combat skill, but it doesn't factor in cursed energy. But from what we see Geto being able to do in JJK0, he should be at least relative imo, he has good fighting technique.
This next paragraph talks about his fights with Panda and Inumaki. For this the JJK0 movie will be used (but it diverges from the manga since Panda uses gorilla mode in the movie). Geto was able to dodge most of Panda's attacks in both base and GM. After a brief scuffle he's able to destroy one of Panda's hearts with a spear, after that Panda and Inumaki finshed off my a curse swarm. During the Goodwill event Panda was going to be used to face Todo. He was stated that even though he barely compete against him physically, he would still be able to put up a good fight and the statement doesn't outright say that he can't physically compete against him.
The version of Geto that defeated Panda was not using playful cloud. This is a cursed tool that enhances your physical capabilities. This is shown when Maki faces Hanami in goodwill. When Maki uses her sword she can't even do anything to Hanami, but when she used playful cloud, she launches Hanami from the rooftop into the woodlands below. While Hanami didn't take too much notable damage from that, the fact that it still launched her is pretty impressive.
Maki is someone that Geto was able to basically no diff. Fight was so one sided that she got off screened. So giving playful cloud to someone who has good physical feats like Geto does, would make him pretty strong.
PART 2.5: YUTA VS GETO
This is the main part of the Yuta scaling. I needed to cover Geto's scaling first so that we have a good base to scale from.
Geto in his fight against Yuta and Rika is basically a 2v1. Geto was able to fight both of them at once thanks to his good physical technique and the amp given to him by playful cloud (which is quite massive). During tbe first parts of the fight it is quite even. Everyone is clashing weapons. During the fight Yuta and Rika get tangled up and have to fight cursed spirits. But unlike Yuta's friends, they are able to deal with most of these curses (I'm getting to her u/Individual-Turn7950).
During the first part, Yuta get's hit by playful cloud to his skull. With how strong it's been shown to be that would be very bad for the average Jujutsu Sorcerer. Yuta isn't your everyday sorcerer. When he gets hit a drop of blood spits out of his mouth. But he tanks the attack pretty good. He even confirms to Rika that he is okay, no RCT was needed.
Yuta then starts to get used to the fight or cursed energy. His speed tempo change causes Geto to miss his attack, but unlike the fraud named Yorozu, Geto manages to save himself from getting the Kenjaku treatment. He does this my ducking his head. But the fact Yuta pulled off a tempo change and suprised Geto was quite impressive.
After that Yuta lands a punch (black flash in the movie and game). And while Geto blocks the attack with a cursed spirit, it still launched him a good 30 feet and bloody's him. Even Geto compliments Yuta for it.
At this point Geto decides he's going to use Uzumaki to end the fight. In order to regain control of the fight he deploys Tamano-no-mae Incarnate to protect him. So if Yuta and Rika were to attack, Tamano-no-mae could delay them so that Geto can use Uzumaki. (Thanks u/Individual-Turn7950 for mentioning this, it's only mentioned in the novelization for JJK0.)
Part 4: CONCLUSION
All in all even in JJK0, Yuta is quite strong and has good stats to where Rika getting mad after he dies wouldn't be as common in a vs matchup. I don't think Jogo can quickly kill off JJK0 Yuta like some others suggested. He couldn't even kill Yuji in the domain.
aha really cool post i actually do feel the same way, me and star were talking about JJK 0 Yuta and how we think he is much stronger than most people consider him,
The LN doesn't say Tamamo-No-Mae was directly summoned to protect Uzumaki although it's greatly implied with it stating that if she and Rika were to clash, and Uzumaki were to fire during that point, Rika and Yuta would instantly be defeated and there is some other stuff too
and most share the same sentiment since nothing really about Tamamo-No-Mae being a support to somehow amp Uzumaki makes sense, since even if we look at her lore she has no abilities that would hint to her being able to do that, and we know Curses like her, Ganesha, Kuchisake-Onna and the DC and pretty much all curses have CT's based on their origin,
so because of that we know she was either summoned to prevent Rika and Yuta from interfering with Uzumaki if they were to attack in that moment which the LN Supports, or to clash with Rika after if Uzumaki hadn't killed her, either are valid ig since The LN and Gege's artwork both depict her as a direct parallel towards Rika
The JJK 0 LN also mentions how at this point Yuta is now fully deserving of his SG Rank despite Rika being the main reason for his rank at the start, after just under a year of training (i think its around 7-9 months so same ish experince as yuji when he fought sukuna), and tbf even if it isn't fully shown and he clearly isn't as strong as he is later on in the series this version of Yuta isn't fodder in a fight but
the point in the Jogo vs Yuta and Rika matchup is that it doesn't really matter, if Yuta beats him because at worst Rika will always rampage upon his death against Jogo, so that's why i believe most people were factoring him out despite being semi strong and having rct output, not an issue with him not being strong more just him probably not having anti domain techniques at this point (people still argue that he has no sd even for EOS Yuta) and since Rika is at her peak at this point and semi unkillable according to Gojo, it's what the fight will always end on
very cute post i remember making stuff myself on mobile and it's so tiring so it's very respectable you put so much effort into this!
There's a jjk 0 light novel?
yes sir there is a few!
I mean hes alright. Solid top 15.
Carried by his curse slave underage gf
LOL
TRUE ‼️‼️‼️
Thank god he beat that evil maniac geto. I like Yuta just cause he beat the crap out of that guy. (still a hanami victim tho)
This is part of the character series for the new Golden Age series as we delve into the depths of the lives and abilities of the original characters in this series and the future of characters from the original series. Now we are seeing most overwhelming powerhouse and the second half of the title of strongest in Japan and the most busted sorcerer in the world. We are seeing a 29-year-old Yuta Okkotsu and how strong he became. Let's begin:
Name: Okkotsu Yuta
Age: 29
Sex: Male
Marital Status: Married with 3 kids
Grade: Grade 0 (top 1)
Appearance: Yuta in this timeline had a glow-up as he is now 6'1, put on 60 lbs of muscle mass, and grew a chad beard. This is mostly because he had to work out a lot just to survive being "intimate" with his wife, Maki Zenin. After all, he could keep up with her superhuman body with CE alone (and the fact that his pelvis has broken multiple times along with his skull, and fingers and nearly got his tongue and dick ripped off by accident). He has the same hairstyle he had in the original series, but now wears a pure white jacket similar to his student uniform and black pants. The jacket doubles as a cursed tool filled with talismans to nullify CE-based attacks and is as durable as a modern-day bulletproof vest (which in 2030 is made of a combination of graphene and ballistic gel for ultimate efficiency). He no longer has his stitches, but has the stitch scars Kenjaku has when he was in Yuji's mom or other vessels, which at first made people of America and China think he was Kenjaku in another body.
Personality/Life: After the Shinjuku showdown and the release of the JJK manga in-verse by Charles Bernard, Yuta became a living legend and became both immensely respected and feared by curses and curse users alike. He and Yuji were deemed as Japan's strongest sorcerers and had extreme levels of influence on the reconstruction of Japan's jujutsu society becoming the standard on how powerful a jujutsu sorcerer can be in the new golden age. He was the one who gave the idea to teach the world jujutsu sorcery and how to take down curses in the first place in exchange for the world not nuking or attacking Japan, making him extremely influential and have political power overseas as he was one of the sorcerers who were sent to teach how to use the fundamentals and kill extremely powerful curse spirits the world didn't know how to take out along with Maki. And because of this level of influence, the Gojo clan offered for him to be their new representative to gain back some of their status and political power in this new age and offered him and his family to live in the Gojo estate. He accepted this if they accepted his girlfriend Maki Zenin, and weirdly enough they honestly loved her since she eliminated the entire Zenin clan.
Yuta has celebrity status similar to Gojo as he is the strongest in Japan along with Yuji and was a fan favorite in the JJK manga which also caused a debate on the internet on who would win between Yuji and Yuta. He is given missions to exorcise special grade and supreme grade curse spirits, negotiations and business overseas (specifically America and South Korea since they like him so much) and with the Japanese government with problems in the new jujutsu society (specifically with new laws and policies concerning with sorcerers). He isn't as lonely as Gojo since he doesn't distance himself from everyone like him, but it has gotten difficult to meet his friends more often since he has a very busy schedule (he does find ways with time management skills).
In 2023, after dating Maki for 4 years he proposed to her and they got married on December 24th, 2023. They have a very happy relationship together in their married life and make time together and are very intimate with each other every time they get together. He even took up the hobby of killing curse spirits to create curse tools/weapons for himself and Maki which he is actually talented in. He even collected the fabled Muramasa Blade as a wedding gift for Maki which prevents regeneration and cuts any material like butter. The Rika shikigami started off as hostile to Maki but ended up actually liking her as much as Yuta and deeply loves both and protects their children from any harm. He is a very devoted husband who always finds ways to make her happy and loved in both romance and satisfied in bed (he literally trains his body and CE reinforcement to survive the force that is Maki and uses his CE reserves to keep going as she can go for hours without stopping, and she will not take no for an answer). As of now, Yuta has 2 daughters (4 and 4) and 1 son (5) who have inherited powerful curse techniques, and their son has the same heavenly restriction as Maki and Toji. Their oldest child, Tsuyoshi, has the same HR as his mother and is superhumanly strong but breaks things easily, his daughters Rika and Mai have an extremely deep pool of CE even at this age which both are the size of half of Yuta's CE pool. Yuta barely even survived the conception and had his arm broken when they were born.
At first, he wanted to get Souta out of the SRG cult to get information out of her that would help, but after seeing what she has gone through and seeing that she isn't like her brother but more like the Suguru Geto his mentor admired he later became more of a father to her and giving her a happy life before he has to go back to the cult. He spoils her and his children rotten as he has a problem of not saying no to his children since he is a big softy/pushover to them and this is one of the reasons why her weight got so out of control in the first place as he doesn't say no to her when she wants food or when she doesn't want to exercise. Because of this, Maki becomes the strict parent who says no to Souta and her children and scolds Yuta for being a big pushover in the first place. She is the one who wears the pants in the relationship and the authority in the house (like Nicole Watterson from TAWoG on Cartoon Network) as she keeps everyone in check prevents her children from becoming rotten children and prevents Souta from devouring everything and becoming too fat to fit through the door (she makes her do her workout regimen and combat training, but can't get her to diet as she uses her curse spirits and connections to get snacks and junk food). He has accepted Souta as one of his children and is doing everything in his power to stop her brother and the rapid growth of the SRG as he believes Satoru Geto will be a more dangerous threat than his father on a global scale and will protect Souta from the abuse and malice of the heads of the cult and her brother.
Curse Technique and Abilities: Yuta became a formidable powerhouse in this era that surpassed Satoru Gojo on the count that he has grown his arsenal to a terrifying scale as he exorcised special grade and supreme grade curse spirits, defeated hundreds of curse users in Japan and the other CE superpowers, he accumulated a staggering 455 curse techniques. These techniques include Comedian, Hakari's IDG, Idle Transfiguration, Cursed Forge, Muscle manipulation, Mass manipulation, Construction, flat planes, Technomancy, Ui Ui's teleportation, Elemental techniques, and many more. He also created and collected hundreds of curse tools along with Maki (which they have a two-story arsenal under their estate and carries 150 tools/weapons inside Rika and each weapon in imbued with a special effect of CT and one of them is a gauntlet infused with Yuki's Stars Rage and the cleaver of life and death.
He couldn't get his CE efficiency at the level of Yuji or Six Eyes, but he found a genius solution to this by permanently integrating a passive CT along with his copy technique in his brain. When he trained Lee Jiho for Samsung, he found his technique, Closed Circuit, extremely useful and used a special ritual and tweaking of this technique to imbue it into his brain and soul next to his copy technique. This technique makes the user into a self-contained loop of Cursed Energy, ensuring zero waste and near-perfect efficiency on output by forming a closed-loop system, the user creates an internal electromagnetic field, reinforcing their movements and drastically increasing efficiency in combat and giving him instantaneous reflexes. This means Yuta will never run out of CE and be the strongest next to Yuji, along with extending his limit to 25 minutes instead of 5 in exchange for having a 10-minute cooldown for his copy while still having the CC technique always active (with the help of his RCT). Even in his cooldown he is still a powerhouse with mastery of RCT and RCE output, all of the NSS school teachings, and a master swordsman who achieved the title of sword saint.
This is the other half of the strongest. Next will be the vessel of the king: Megumi Fushiguro.
It’s nice, but are you saying to me that Yuta went actively maiming his own allies to gain their CTs? Because when Rika eats someone’s body part, the owner can’t regenerate the lost parts in order to be able to permanently use the CTs
Not exactly. Most of them are from special grade curse spirts, but Yuta has found loopholes and reworked the conditions so that he doesn't have to maim his friends to use their CTs. He fully mastered his CT and has a reconstructed Closed Circuit that can be used passively and with his Copy CT active.
My Goat Megumi next
How did Yuta manage to get some of these techniques from those people? He was already going to give Charles his rib back, so how is he taking their techniques without their body parts being permanently gone?
Especially Hakari, since jackpot would heal any injury Yuta would've given him.
Most of these techniques are from powerful special grade curse spirits and supreme grades as many of them have extremely useful and powerful hax. Also, he has fought a lot of curse users since they pop up in the world and in his travels, and there are ways to get a DNA sample other than dismembering his enemies and allies.
But wouldn't they heal that part back eventually (Hakari automatically in jackpot), causing Yuta's DNA to have 0 value?
So I've always had the headcannon that a no CE heavenly restriction scales to the amount of CE the holder would have had without it.
So, how strong is Tsuyoshi if his sister's inherited Yuta's absurd reserves and Maki and Toji were born with average CE reserves?
Since Yuta has near-boundless CE because of Rika and each daughter has half of his CE reserves of Yuta at 17(which to lore are treated as 1 person split in 2), this kid will be stronger than Maki and Toji combined. At this age, he shows Toji level strength and when he is all grown up he will be capable of splitting a city in half with his bare hands or outrun lightning. He will basically be a viltrumite without the flight or a real-life mythologically accurate Herakles.
Bros work out secret is sex with his wife 😂.
Add this to the the never ending Yuta win chart. My humble goat can’t lose!
Having to get hella buff just to keep up with maki is insane work😭😭😭
Well he is still a special grade despite the fact that Rika is dispelled. I have some questions about him. Was the technique copy and limitless cursed energy coming from rika or can he still do that? I am not caught up so do we learn more about his current strength?
I think the prequel explains that Okkotsu is actually a long lost descendent of some ancient sorcerer, and is distantly related to Gojo, so that's where his power actually comes from, not Rika
People sometimes forget how rare some of these dudes are. Something like Domain Expansion is very rare for even top tier sorcerers.
Using Positive Curse Energy to heal others is like something that only 1% of the cream of the cop can do. Okkotsu’s swordsmanship and CQC combat allowed him to whoop Geto’s ass who pretty much no-diffed Maki and Panda.
His ability to learn things quickly is ungodly. He probably would be using Divergent Fist at will an hour after it getting it.
not even 1% from what i remember there is only a single person except yuta which can use positive curse energy on others
To answer your question based on what we know from the prequel and what I personally think.
It is said that Yuta was the one who cursed Rika, so all of her abilities were something Yuta himself can do but he never actually mastered them because he was using these techniques through Rika, now that she has been dispelled he can still use these techniques but now he needs to learn how to do it on his own.
Some say that he can't anymore because it was all done through Rika and now that she's been dispelled he's just a normal sorcerer now, but I don't think that's the case, Yuta cursed Rika there's no way a normal sorcerer would be able to create a cursed spirit as powerful as Rika was without an insane amount of cursed energy.
I believe that he will maintain his monstrous cursed energy, but won't be able to use his copy technique.
I still think that he can copy techniques due to the fact that Rika’s powers came from him. His cursed energy is special because it was described as ”boundless and maliable”, even without Rika he should be able to copy curses.
good point
Yuuta's is a genius he is able to use positive curse energy in his first year. He learn how to use his powers without rika is easy
Unknown atm
