Overview
"Jujutsu Kaisen" is a plot-driven story that revolves around the supernatural world where cursed spirits and jujutsu sorcerers exist. The narrative begins with Yuji Itadori, a high school student who becomes involved in the world of curses after ingesting a powerful cursed object, Sukuna's finger. This act binds him to Ryomen Sukuna, the King of Curses, setting off a chain of events that thrusts him into the world of jujutsu sorcery [1:1].
Plot Development
The storyline is characterized by its fast pace and intricate plot twists, often compared to other action-packed series like "Attack on Titan." The narrative is rich with foreshadowing and carefully planned arcs, such as the Shibuya Incident, which is a pivotal moment in the series. This arc involves a coordinated attack on Shibuya to seal Satoru Gojo, one of the strongest sorcerers, thereby shifting the balance of power in favor of the antagonists [1],
[3:5].
Key Arcs and Themes
The series explores various arcs that delve into the complexities of the jujutsu world, including the Star Plasma Vessel arc and the Shibuya Incident arc. These arcs not only advance the plot but also provide deeper insights into the characters and their motivations. Themes of sacrifice, power, and morality are prevalent throughout the series, adding depth to the action-oriented storyline [5:1].
Character Dynamics
While the series is primarily plot-driven, it does not neglect character development. Moments of character growth and interaction are sprinkled throughout the narrative, providing emotional depth and motivation for the characters' actions. Characters like Gojo Satoru, Suguru Geto, and others play crucial roles in shaping the events of the story, each with their unique abilities and backstories [1:4],
[3:2].
Conclusion
"Jujutsu Kaisen" weaves an engaging tale of supernatural battles, strategic confrontations, and personal struggles within a richly constructed world. Its blend of intense action sequences and thoughtful storytelling has captivated audiences, making it a standout series in the genre. For those interested in exploring further, the anime leaves off at Chapter 63, or the start of Volume 8 of the manga [2],
[3].
Guys, After re-reading the Shibuya Incident arc, I was blown by how much foreshadowing happened in the first few arcs.
I think Gege Akutami pre-planned a lot of things a few years to give amazing arc with awesome plot twists and a fast-paced story with incredible fights and moments.
The more I read JJK, the more I felt that I am much more invested in an actual story than the characters. JJK seems to be an incredibly fast-paced story with awesome plot twists much like Attack on Titan.
What type of story that Jujutsu Kaisen seems to be like? Is it plot-driven or character-driven?
Plot-driven so far, but I do love the character moments.
Just a good story. That's all you need to know.
100%
I think it's plot driven sprinkled with character moments here and there.
Plot driven.
It's definitely plot-driven. The story on a character-driven story usually revolve around the MC and the MC is the one making it move forward, while JJK story already begun even before Yuji was born.

I wonder how long it took MAPPA to create that whole fight sequence between >!Sukuna and Mahoraga?!<
Because I watched it for the first time no too long ago and I was visually amazed (and gut-wrenched at the same time). That in consideration with all other equally amazing battles in the closing episodes of the Shibuya Incident arc.
Gojo has never taken out Mahoraga, but yes, the ritual can be done an infinite amount of times as long as the ritual is seen as invalid.
Getting help from anyone else will completely nullify the ritual.

Just finished the anime. I have a few questions . What is “Tengen” they were talking about in the last episode?
Why doesn’t Okkatsu help in Shibuya? Where is he? What happened to Mei? Did she die?
What is yuki tsukumo goal? Didnt quite understand it in the last episode
And what is the cursed spirits inside Geto goal?
Tengen is a person and has been mentioned several times. In season 1, fake Geto says Tengen's cursed technique is Immortality and the entrance to the Jujutsu High Storeroom, where Sukuna's fingers and the Cursed Womb Death Paintings are kept, is shuffled among 1000 doors by Tengen to keep it safe.
In season 2, Geto and Gojo are tasked with escorting Riko to Tengen to reset Tengen's immortality technique by merging with her. Geto says Tengen has barriers protecting both Jujutsu Schools and strengthens the barrier techniques of assistant managers.
>Why doesn’t Okkatsu help in Shibuya? Where is he?
He was in Africa.
>What happened to Mei? Did she die?
Mei Mei says she's in Malaysia and they got there using Ui Ui's technique.
>What is yuki tsukumo goal?
She says to Geto in Hidden Inventory that she wants a world where cursed spirits don't exist and says so again in Shibuya. She wants to achieve this by getting rid of CE in humans.
>And what is the cursed spirits inside Geto goal?
I don't know what you are asking.
Thank you for explaining, appreciate it. I was wondering what Kenjaku’s (the brain 🧠 inside Geto) plan is exactly? I didn’t quite understand it
what was the shibuya incident, was it the killing of all the people in shibuya or the sealing of gojo?
The entire night in general, the planned attack on Shibuya, which ultimately was a plan to seal Gojo/remove him from the equation.
Why do anime watchers hate on its story and compare it to demon slayer and solo leveling. Yes the anime’s selling point is its fights but its writing is leagues better than solo leveling or demon slayer
Do we have any Information when Season 3 is gonna be released ?
Please remove the spoiler stuff you are asking about.
The anime is an adaptation of the manga, the manga has ended and the anime adapted roughly half of the story.
Some things you are asking about will be in later seasons and there are also fake leaks, spoliers.
The thing about Inumaki's arm is in sesson 2, Yuta says he lost it due to Yuji during Shibuya, this is referring to Sukuna, and him losing his arm happened off screen.

Hi everyone! I'm a new fan who got into the franchise through the anime. After finishing Season 1, I immediately jumped into Season 2 because I enjoyed it so much (it was that good, haha). However, I just found out that I was supposed to watch the movie before starting Season 2. While watching, I did get confused a few times—was that because I skipped the movie, or was I just being slow? 😅 Thanks in advance to anyone who replies!

What are these ads for a new movie I keep seeing on Reddit. It just looks like JJK 0 which is the movie that introduces us to Yuta. Is this movie new or just getting a theatrical rerelease
I think it’s the hidden inventory/premature death episodes released into a movie version but with newly added scenes!
I see. Thank you!
I haven’t been able to find a definitive answer on when to read JJK 0, I’ve seen all of the anime and the movie in release order but I’m going to start the manga fresh, here it says chapter 63, but I’ve seen most say after either chapter 78 or 79, curious what you all think
POSSIBLE SPOILERS ‼️⚠️⛔️
Was the real Geto still in high school when he died? I know he got expelled after he killed all those people, but should he have been in high school still when Gojo killed him? Was Gojo still in high school? How many years of jujutsu high school are there 🤣 sorry I just need some clarification!
There's four years of Jujutsu high. Gojo and Geto were in their second year when the star plasma vessel arc occurs, then Geto betrays Jujutsu high a year later. Geto attacks Jujutsu high and dies 9 years later, a total of 10.5 years after Riko died.
Does anyone have that image from a couple years ago that was trending with Gojo and like seven blues floating around him? Or does anyone know who the artist was?
Any news about season 3?
It has a panel tomorrow at anime expo

Considering everything that happened before the Shibuya incident: how the hell have sorcerers kept themselves and the curses hidden from the public domain? Like, just think of Gojo, everywhere he went he left some big trail, destroyed buildings, schools etc. Or think of Jujutsu Kaisen 0, where there was an entire section of the city under attack. Or maybe (at the start of the show season 1) why the hell are they keeping one of Sukuna’s finger near a school and how there wasn’t a single dumbass that wanted to poke his nose around and look in the little temple where it was. Also why the hell would Megumi Fushiguro just straight up tell to Itadori about curses?
Maybe there’s some world building that I’m missing, please enlighten me.
I am not sure if it is allowed to ask this kind of question in this thread, but I was wondering something.
If I was to introduce a character of mine into Jujutsu Kaisen when Gojo, Geto and Shoko were first years at Jujutsu Kaisen, what order should the arcs? I wanna follow the canon arcs, but like interweave my character into the story.
(I know about Hidden Inventory, JJK 0, the main series s1 and 2, but I don’t know the rest.)
Chronologically speaking, the timeline of the story goes like this:
There are some flashbacks and scenes with baby, child, and teen Gojo, plus some daily life of Geto, Shoko, and others, but this is the order in which the story happened in universe.
Thank you
I'm gonna make one of my friends watch it. Should i make him watch it in release order or choronological order?
I’m in a similar situation watching with my girlfriend, I decided to do season 1, the first 5 episodes of season 2, JJK zero, then the rest of season 2. It gives the most context going into both the movie and the rest of hidden inventory without spoilers and blends together really well.
now I just have to figure out where to place the new movie in this timeline without watching it lol
JJK first and then JJK Zero. If they want to read it, then Volume 0 is good to read after chapter 63.
So release order?
I could see both being cool, or even holding off on 0 until after S2, since that ends with Yuta saving the little girl at the convenience store. If I had amnesia I think I would want to see it in chronological order.
Im going to restart jjk, do any streaming platform have the re animated episodes from shibuya arc?
I'm an idiot with a horrible retention rate so this is a random question I thought of. Since red is twice as strong/CE requiring as blue, does that mean instead of a clean 50/50, hollow purple is more of a 66/33 in terms of how much force Red and Blue are putting in? Let's say x is blue and 2x is red (since it's twice as draining) and lets make y purple. therefore we get :
2x + x = y
now since 2x is twice as big as x, it should mean that red, the more consuming ability, is powering 66% of hollow purple? Am I right or as usual am I going on some dumb rant?
I am legitimately sad that JJK fridays are over, but at least now I can binge the manga, just like I did with Dr. Stone. Thanks, kind stranger.
I would love to stay up to date with the pain you're gonna endure, lmk what you think when you catch up if you remember this comment :)
Of course! I'll probably do it soon, as I've been getting into manga semi recently. The first manga I read was actually Jojo's part 6, and that was last year. I'm currently reading part 8 to catch up, and am current on Dr. Stone, so that's the first manga I've ever waited for weekly chapters on. I've been watching anime for years, and actually fell off a little for like a year ( I have so much shit to watch), but JJK is the first show I've ever actually watched weekly the day it came out. I had a little ritual of drinking on Fridays and watching the episode, and I'm gonna miss that, cause it made my weeks feel a lot nicer. Maybe I'll find a show that I watch weekly again some time, but I still need to finish HxH, and Samurai Champloo, both of which I'm half way through and have put down for a few months. Sorry for my ramblings, I'll definitely try and remember to come back and let you know how reading JJK goes, as I'll probably start it relatively soon, as I'm nearly current on Jojolion. I think I'll make watching an episode or a couple of HxH or something else my weekly ritual instead.
Edit: On a side note, because I'm fried and rambling lol, because I read dr stone after the first season, I haven't bothered watching season 2 (eventually I'll get to it), but I've also read Jojo part 6, 7, and 8, and even though I know what'll happen and part 6 is 100% my least favorite part, I think when part 6 gets released it will become my new weekly anime ritual, and it will be nice to have a show to look forward to.
there’s always jujutsu Kaisen Sundays though
No JJK or AOT until at least winter. I’m deadass boutta cry broski
Thank you random person, this spares a lot of time. Wish there was a chart like this for every anime.
There’s pretty much a chart like this in any wiki for an anime. It’s a trick I picked up from always reading the manga of an anime I’ve just finished. For example, Here’s the one for jjk. Just go to the wiki and search story arcs, and you’re set.
That's very nice to know. I would never know about that if you didn't tell me. Thanks!
Thank you!
You should create one with your predictions of how s2 and possibly s3 would be paced, from chapters to episodes. That would be cool i think
I appreciate this a lot, but I also don't like this. We are definitely going to have to wait a while for season 2.
If you're looking for the complete version of this chart, including the upcoming manga arcs, it's here on r/Jujutsushi, the official subreddit for manga readers (beware of spoilers!)

Just finished Season 2- Anime spoilers ONLY (trust I will be reading the manga but I finished the final episode just now). >!What the FUCK just happened?? Why is Jujutsu High acting like Gojo and Itadori committed crimes? When did Itadori cut off Inumaki's arms? Why? How the fuck did Itadori escape fighting geto in that last scene? Did he and the motorcycle chick just beat him? Why is Jujutsu society scared of Itadori living when he can clearly control Sukuna?!<
If any of my questions have answers that are found out later in the story, let me know, please don't answer and spoil anything past S2.
About the orders from the higher-ups, they never liked Gojo, he was openly unhappy with the leadership and expressed he wanted things to change, then he's also doing things like stopping them from killing Yuji. Saying it's forbidden to release him is a thinly veiled way of making sure he can't be around anymore to threaten their position.
They always wanted Yuji dead because of the danger that Sukuna poses. Every time Sukuna came out he was only causing problems and spreading destruction. Even though Yuji himself is innocent, the world WOULD be better off if Yuji dies. Sukuna has already taken control three/four times since he's been in Yuji and if his actions in Shibuya show what happens when he's in control for ~20 minutes, it's easy to see why they want Yuji gone.
Skipped over in the anime, but Inumaki was caught at the edge of Sukuna's domain
It's explained properly later on in the manga, but when the fake Geto was leaving he did remark that he had high expectations for Sukuna, so fake Geto has some sort of interest in keeping Sukuna (and by extension Yuji) alive.
I see… so basically because he is satoru gojo they couldn’t really do anything to stop him until now.
Do we know how come Yuji doesn’t just switch back when Sukuna starts causing damage? I feel like Yuji could easily make Sukuna a weapon by letting him out when he is in danger but then switching when he starts doing things he doesn’t want.
WOW. Thank you for clarifying. Of all things to be skipped.. that is insane.
So he just dipped? Didn’t really care about the motorcycle girl?
how does gojo use his infinity to inflict damage on hanami isn't just division of space???
I should add, this was also because jogo and hanami were using domain amplification, so gojo was responding by increasing his infinity strength. As they pushed harder and harder, every action has an equal and opposite reaction, so gojo pushed harder and harder against them
wait i dont get domain amplification can you like explain that (sorry i literally just watched the show in 2 days) but yeah the hydraulic press analogy made it make more sense
Infinity acts similarly to an immovable wall. When objects get closer, they can’t pass through, as yes there’s infinite space. So he strengthened his infinity and it kept pushing hanami away. He basically squished hanami between his infinity and the wall, like a hydraulic press. So yes it’s space, but if hanami can’t go through it, well there’s really nowhere else to go
how do kenjaku and geto have the same goals?
They don't have the same goals.
Anyone remembers the anime chapter number when Megumi says ''What the hell is happening in shibuya?'' I'm trying to extra the audio in japanese for a 2d Animation tribute I'm doing - if anyone could help I'd appreciate a lot :)
Are sorcerers actually good in keeping their secret society hidden? SPOILERS
Considering everything that happened before the Shibuya incident: how the hell have sorcerers kept themselves and the curses hidden from the public dominion? Jujutsu Kaisen was stated to end in 2023, because the author was under pressure. However they took a month long break and since have been taking breaks whenever they are pushed to hard, and so they will continue the series because they don't have to end it. This is also exemplified by how the series does not feel like it can end in less then a year. Now some may say this date would be pushed because the author meant 2 years of chapters which is 100ish chapters, but we have already had around 40 chapters since then leaving 60ish chapters. Can JJK really end in 60 chapters (A year and a half).
Edit: Since then the author has taken their time and I think just the Culling Game will be 40+ more chapters, and I don't think it's the climax of the series.
TL;DR: Author has no pressure + too much content left.
Yeah. Gege said that before he took his hiatus too. Besides that, I feel those kinds of estimates of how much longer until the series is finished are always underestimations, which is the common response to this question.
The thing about JJK though is that I always got this sense that Gege kind of hates this grind and just prefers to tell as succinct a story as possible. That comes at the cost of not telling as thorough a story as it seems like it is. He has a lot of material to use, and cool ideas, but is super aware of how that will take time to use. I don’t see it as external pressure, but that he personally doesn’t want to expand it lol so there’s that, which IMO is disappointing. I just feel like this medium is taking a major hit lately bc it’s backing artists into a corner to force them to sacrifice their own health for their story or vice versa (same thing happening with MHA which is the only other manga I used to follow weekly).
Edit: right I definitely feel like there’s no way it’ll end soon based on where we are in the story, it really only feels like we’re halfway thru. Idk tho it’ll depend on what Gege chooses to focus on ig
I actually prefer this is to unnecessary fillers. The only anime/manga to this day I’ve enjoyed despite its length… technically I didn’t even notice the length was Gintama. And Sorachi-sensei is a whole different ballpark when compared to Gege. That Gorilla of a mangaka had a story to tell and told it as leisurely as possible using everything he had around him, ie a whole ensemble of characters who could be the protagonists themselves of a separate show, a whole ass world that’s beautifully fleshed out, antagonists, even real life historical figures, and of course doujinshis, fanfiction, yaoi etc just to connect it all together.
So what I’m getting to is, I love Gege’s no nonsense style of story telling and personally feel that it fits really well with the style of the story. ie, the pacing matches the theme and tone of the plot, so it doesn’t feel out of place. But I do agree Gege might be getting a little confused with the hole he’s dug called Cursed Techniques and Cursed Energy.
Sorry for ranting.
>I always got this sense that Gege kind of hates this grind and just prefers to tell as succinct a story as possible. That comes at the cost of not telling as thorough a story as it seems like it is.
Best exemplified by the Yaga sidestory. Only a single chapter, and it felt fairly rushed as a result. Most people probably would've preferred to spend at least 2-3 chapters on that, but you can tell Gege wants to spend as little time as possible diverging from the main plot.
Tbh I really respect the fact that Gege doesn't want the story to go on for 10+ years and wants to end it in a succinct way. I think it highlights that Gege has a vision for the story and it really shines through when reading and watching it. I've never felt that a single fight or storybeat is a waste because it's always building to something greater.
They stress out their long running mangakas and cancel 90% of new series... What exactly is Jumps long term plan here?
I'm immune to hiatuses, I've learned to touch grass waiting for manga chapters. Good for Gege for prioritizing his health. He can take all the hiatus he wants 10 year at least.
>I'm immune to hiatuses
Every HxH fan in a nutshell.
Don't forget about Detective Conan fans..
As a HxH fan, im same, i just hope i live long enough for all those mangakas and their hiatus
20 chapters is unlikely, shibuya was around 50 chapters and if it was only 20 chapters left for culling games it would total in 38 chapters, I believe this arc will be longer than shibuya since this arc will explore the past and introduce more characters from the heian and there are gonna be more rules added and more fights and character development for our cast. This arc will probably be about 60-70 chapters
never trust a mangaka when they say “series is ending in x years”
its gonna end in 3 and i am heart broken

So I was rewatching season 2 with a friend, and I could have sworn the ending scene for season 2 was >!a scene where Gojo is seen walking down some stairs looking like he’s done with life and possibly the principal was there too.!< When we were watching it, the ending scene >!was Yuji clapping to call curses to him introducing us to the next arc.!< Am I remembering it wrong? I’m not sure if maybe I saw an edit or something but I swear it was a part of the actual anime.
The scene you are talking about happens in episode 5 of season 2
