Where to Find Blueprints in Subnautica

TL;DR Blueprints are acquired by scanning fragments and databoxes found around the map, often near wrecks or specific biomes. Exploring beyond the Safe Shallows is essential for finding valuable blueprints.

Scanning Fragments and Databoxes

To obtain blueprints in Subnautica, players need to use the Scanner tool to scan fragments of items scattered across the sea floor or inside crates [1:1][2:1]. Databoxes also contain blueprints and can be found near wreckage sites [2:2]. Scanning is a fundamental mechanic in the game that allows players to unlock new crafting recipes and progress further.

Key Locations for Specific Blueprints

Certain blueprints are located in specific areas. For example, the Multipurpose Room blueprint can be found in the Jellyshroom Caves or on the Floating Island [1:2]. The Mobile Vehicle Bay fragments are commonly found in the Grassy Plateaus, Aurora, or Crag Field [1:2]. For the Habitat Builder, players should search the Twisty Bridges area, where fragments can be found inside abandoned tube sections [3:2][3:3].

Exploration vs. Looking Up Locations

While exploring the map is a core aspect of Subnautica, some players find it helpful to look up locations when they become frustrated with searching [4:1][4:5]. Using resources like the Subnautica wiki or YouTube guides can provide insights into which biomes to explore for specific blueprints [4:2][4:7]. However, many players enjoy the discovery aspect and recommend exploring without external guidance for a more rewarding experience [4:4].

Crafting Requirements

Blueprints are necessary to craft items, as they show the required materials [5:1]. Players must have both the blueprint and the necessary parts to craft an item [5:3]. While some basic recipes are available from the start, acquiring additional blueprints expands the range of craftable items and enhances gameplay [5:2].

Where do I find blueprints? [No Spoilers]

ORIGINAL POST

I’ve just downloaded Subnautica and I’ve played for about 5 hours now. I’ve been having a lot of trouble finding blueprints for anything such as the vehicle station, seamouth and the multipurpose room. Though these are only some of the blueprints I can’t find. Is there a set spawn or do they randomly spawn if so where is the best place in or around safe shallows to find blueprints for early game.

Ok there will be a few slight spoilers but this will make your day

First thing is the Multipurpose room, to find blueprints for that, you need to go to the >!Jellyshoom Caves!< or the >!Floating Island!< as they both have a multipurpose room in them

Second is the Mobile Vehicle Bay, just look in some of those crates in the >!Grassy Plateaus !< >!Aurora!< or >!Crag Field!< as they have the most found in those

And finally, the Seamoth, You should wait for the distress call from Ozzy and go to him has there is a few seamoth fragments around his lifepod, or you can just go straight to the >!Mushroom Forest!<

No need to thank me btw

Have you built a scanner yet?

KageKnight87 · 5 years ago

First off, blueprints are obtained with the "Scanner" by scanning fragments of the items you find around the game. Some blueprints are found in databoxes instead of fragments, but you're gonna need to leave the Safe Shallows to find anything halfway decent. There are wrecks all around the map that you're gonna have to search as well.

Right now I don’t know what to do because I have the tools I need but I can’t make a seamoth so I’m stuck in the areas directly nearby the lifepod. I also met my first Mesmer and it scared the shit out of me.

You can also find databanks scattered around near wreckage, but primarily the scanner is used to scan fragments.

Storage locker is full, some random alien has made itself comfortable in the player character's head, I've seen the most of the areas above 200m, but still no way to build a base. Am I missing something? I've searched the robotics lab and surrounding area numerous times to avail. I would prefer no spoilers, only came on this sub to ask this question.

Go to the twisty bridges and look for a single tube base piece, there’s a builder tool fragment in there

1 upvotes on reddit
Creative_Waltz_9462 · 3 years ago

The easiest place to find it is inside an abandoned section of tube, in the twisty bridges area. It's not that far from where you start but it's fairly deep for early game.

(No Spoilers) Should I look up blueprint locations?

Posted by Adorable-Elderberry · in r/subnautica · 4 years ago

Hello I’m a new player so excuse me if this is a dumb question. It seems like there’s some really essential blueprints in order to do things like upgrade armor and other useful buffs. Should I just look up where these parts are? On one hand I don’t want to ruin exploring and finding new things but on the other hand I don’t wanna miss something really important. Let me know what you guys think! :)

It's all up to you really but in my experience I find it a bit boring after about 40 mins of searching so I usually end up looking it up after a while.

It depends if you find the searching part of the game enjoyable if you don't then in my opinion I think you should just look it up so you can get back to the parts of the game you enjoy

I only started looking things up when I got frustrated. It’s fun to drive around in my seamoth and discover new things. It’s not fun to drive around on two power cells looking for Cyclops pieces and finding nothing, only to look it up and find out they’re on this obscure part of the map you somehow haven’t found yet... then spend another 40 minutes trying to find that location...

I like the discovery there is in the game. I don’t like getting frustrated by being unable to find things I need to progress.

I cheated one time and spawned in a tablet because I didn’t have one and I was like 20 minutes from my base and I knew I’d never be able to find this place again.

From what I understand, there is a set of default crafting recipes that you can craft whenever you have tools, but you can also find – buy blueprints to unlock more recipes

You need both, you gotta have the blueprint in your inventory and the items. The blueprint is not used in the craft and can be sold or stored after use

Where can I find blueprints?

Can please anyone tell me where can I find blueprints from game ships? Ships that are made from devs for the game like for example those we can buy at stations. I want to get better at building because I can only build a brick and was thinking taking in game ships and remodeling them and rebuilding or if anyone has better idea I am listening

If you by them from the stations you can create a blueprint of them there, alternatively you’d need to look at what people have published on either mod.io or the steam workshop

elberto83 · 4 months ago

Apart from the steam workshop, you can also find a lot of the blueprints used ingame in the game folder, under Steam -> SpaceEngineers -> Content -> Data -> Prefabs. Just copy both .sbc and .sbcB5 file into a new folder in your local blueprints and you should be able to use them (your local blueprints are stored in %AppData%/SpaceEngineers/Blueprints).

subnauticamap.io is a cool interactive map with wrecks marked. If you want a specific item, check the wiki for where it spawns and then use the map to easily find wrecks. Visiting the Aurora might be a good idea, but to get far you need to have a repair tool and laser cutter, and there isn't a lot of tech (other than the PRAWN and some vehicle upgrades).

Different blueprints are found in different biomes, so no biome is “best.”

Best way to find more blueprints? Put down a scanner room and tell it to search for fragments, wrecks, or databoxes.

Interesting.

Blueprints was probably going to work the same way as Plans in Fallout 76.

You would read them and then you unlock the ability to craft certain weapons, armor or outfits from the workbenches.

Weird that they didn't include this, especially since it's a single player game.

Much of the dialogue (i.e. no sense letting helium3 go to waste) was written before the scope of the game was reduced. So, there are no blue prints, and moreover, nothing said blueprints would lead you to find.

  2. Locations:

    • Lifepod 5: Contains a blueprint for the Mobile Vehicle Bay.
    • Aurora Wreck: Explore the wreck for various blueprints, including the Seamoth and Prawn Suit.
    • Deep Areas: Look in biomes like the Jellyshroom Cave and the Lost River for advanced blueprints.
    • Data Boxes: These can be found in various locations and often contain blueprints for items like the Cyclops or upgrades.
  3. Biomes to Explore:
