TL;DR Consider staying in La Quinta, Indio, or Palm Desert for proximity and convenience. Camping is also a popular option for festival-goers.
Airbnb Locations
For those interested in Airbnb, several towns near Coachella offer convenient options. Indio and La Quinta are popular choices due to their proximity to the festival grounds [1:1]. Indian Wells and Palm Desert also have decent spots, though they may be further away
[1:1]. It's important to book with a superhost to avoid cancellations, which can be common during Coachella
[1:5]
[1:7].
Camping Options
Camping at Coachella is often recommended as it provides easy access to the festival grounds and eliminates transportation hassles. Many attendees find camping to be the best way to experience the festival [2:3]
[4:5]. Shadow Hills RV Resort offers camping packages and shuttles to the festival, providing a cheaper alternative to Airbnbs and hotels
[2:1].
Hotel Choices
Hotels in Palm Desert are a viable option, especially if they offer shuttle services to Coachella [3:1]
[3:5]. The Embassy Suites in Palm Desert, for example, is conveniently located next to a shuttle stop
[5:1]. Cathedral City is another area where you can use Hilton points for a stay, but it's worth considering the logistics of getting to shuttle stops
[5:1]
[5:6].
Transportation Considerations
Walking distance accommodations can be expensive and challenging due to traffic restrictions [4:1]
[4:7]. Ubers and Lyfts are generally not recommended due to potential delays and traffic
[4:4]. Utilizing shuttle services from nearby hotels or resorts is a more reliable option
[3:4]
[5:7].
Booking Tips
It's crucial to book accommodations well in advance, as many places fill up quickly. However, note that some hotels may not open reservations until closer to the event date [5:4]
[5:8]. Checking platforms like Airbnb for timeshares listed by individual owners can also provide additional options
[5:9].
What would be a reasonable area for airbnbs close to Coachella
All the towns nearby are expensive (la quinta, indio, indian wells, palm desert) it really depends on how nice the airbnb is.
I have stayed at Rancho La Quinta and more recently PGA West the last three years and recommend those for easy access.
PGA West has a rear exit gate that puts you out on Madison, it’s an easy straight shot in/out of lot 2A
I have an Airbnb that is literally walking distance from the festival grounds. Gated community across the street. PM if you’d like to check it out and I can send you the link!
Hi am interested for W1 can you send me the link
Hey dm me
messaged you
Is it smart to book this far out? I'm scared they will cancel getting closer to Coachella next year.
I don't think it really matters. I booked my Airbnb around November last year and it was fine. Go with a superhost (who can lose their status if they cancel) and make sure Coachella is already priced in (if it's the same rate they charge as a non-Coachella weekend, that's a red flag). If you see a place you like that works for your crew, then I'd be comfortable booking now...but you also don't need to rush.
They cancel a ton. You can try, but expect cancellations like 75% of the time if its a good deal.
Yeah that’s how I feel. But I just wanna see price range & how far I should look
Reasonable would be anywhere near the shuttle stops as far from the festival as Palm Desert. Personally prefer Indio and La Quinta if you have enough people to reduce the costs of those homes. Indian Wells has some decent spots as well.
I feel any farther (rancho mirage, cathedral city, and palm springs), while having cheaper homes, requires like an hour-ish travel time to the fields.
So most places are already sold out. Does anyone know any places that are near the venue and haven’t sold out? And RV parking? At this point I’m assuming I will have to camp out. Most places are so over price. I’m going second weekend. Any information would be helpful
just camp, it’s the best way to do the festival anyway. you’ll have a blast.
Try pga west rentals $$$
Thanks everyone for the help. 👍🏻
yea pretty much bite the bullet and pay for the expensive lodging or camping.
theres also shadowhills rv resort, basically they have camp sites, camp packages, rv packages and rv sites. including a shuttle to the fest. its a bit more than Coachella camping but its cheaper than Airbnbs and Hotels
As the title says :)
Personally I do hotels. This year we’re trying a VRBO but it’s at a resort so it seems like it’s basically still a hotel lol. I try to get it closer to festival grounds. Did Palm Springs once and it just seemed so far lol.
Can confirm PS is far from the fest site (did this my first year). Shuttle ride in and out each day/night felt like an eternity
Truly an eternity and a half. Especially after a long day, it’s not worth the money saved imo due to that part alone.
what resort did you do on vrbo? first year i went i stayed at my friends place they owned a block away and last year we got a deal with a booking agent who found us a time share. this year were trying airbnb/vrbo but just really terrified to book and then it gets cancelled a week before
We are doing Westin Mission Hills Resort Villa :) you’ve been lucky with those previous stay options! I hope you can find a similar deal
Airbnb in Palm Desert which is close to one of those hotels which has a shuttle service to go to Coachella
Do most hotels offer shuttle services?
Click on details in this link and you can see the list of stops https://www.valleymusictravel.com/events/coachella/shuttles/?utm\_source=coachella\_referral&utm\_medium=coachella\_website&utm\_campaign=coachella\_2023
Hotel in palm desert

What are the best towns, cities, hotels, Airbnb’s to stay at when Coachella is back on? Does walking distance make a big difference or are Ubers and Lyfts fairly reliable?
Personally, I recommend camping. However, camping isn’t for everyone.
The biggest drawback to camping is that it is camping. If you don’t like camping, you probably won’t like camping at Coachella. If you don’t mind being a sweaty dusty mess by 3p when you showered at 10a then you’ll do alright. The more effort and planning you put into camping the better your experience will be. Having a good camp setup takes a couple weeks of prep if you’re starting from scratch. Camping is also better the bigger your group is. You’ll want a camping spot for every 2 people or so, but the bigger the better. Benefits of camping are that you are so close to the festival you can be much more carefree. Don’t pay for as much beer, just pound a few when you walk back to camp to change.
Staying offsite is still plenty fun. You still get access to all of the campgrounds and activities. Just be prepared for a few things. Number one is cost, staying offsite is significantly more expensive (camping gear can be expensive, too, though). I’d definitely recommend reserving a locker if you are going to be staying off site. They increased the capacity of the festival recently, and the day parking lots that are closest to the festival hit capacity before noon usually. They have other off site lots that you can park at and take a free shuttle the rest of the way. Leaving at night can be a nightmare, and I’ve heard of people saying it can take hours if you leave after the headliners finish. Getting to the festival also turns into a nightmare if you’re not early. Staying on a bed and having a personal shower are probably priceless to some people. As others have said, rideshare services are hell and there is a good chance your phone will die before the night is over.
Overall my advice is go to where your vibes will be best. If you’re not a camping person, don’t force it and try to be. If you’d be happy in a hotel room or an airbnb, do it and have a blast. Both options require a bit of planning and execution to make things significantly better and more fun.
I’ve camped for 9 years. While it would be nice to have a house and a pool, being able to walk 15-20 min back to the campsite at the end of the night rather than wait for an Uber and have to be stuck in traffic is always my deciding factor.
I have never been stuck in traffic while driving to/from coachella
Camp
Airbnb that’s walking distance. Make sure it’s actually walking distance! Some streets are blocked off to pedestrians. This will be very expensive.
Camp at that one RV resort that has a shuttle.
Airbnb or hotel near a shuttle stop.
Don’t Uber/Lyft!
in 2016 i spent some time investigating finding walking distance options (i switched weekends away from my normal camping crew because a friend was getting married. i hooked up with a new crew, and later our crews merged, but for a while i wasn't sure it would pan out).
the walking traffic restrictions really get in the way of that working well.
camping on site is the best
First, I’d recommend searching the subreddit. Tons of great tips about this from previous years.
Generally, I wouldn’t expect to walk. I tried that my first year. Everything is MUCH further than you think since people are routed to specific exits. Plus you’ve likely been on your feet for 12 hours, jumped around, and walked miles without realizing it.
I’ve personally found a lot of success with Airbnb’s in La Quinta (south of the grounds). Most traffic heads north to Palm Springs so it is the least painful / least time consuming way to get home after a long day.
I also tend to drive in each day (vs Uber which is a shit show). Get in early each day and parking is a breeze; plus exploring the grounds and new artists is one of the best parts). I also pick my closing artists. I’m not there for headliners so I tend to dip out around that time unless I have to stay for someone really special. I’m usually out of the parking lot in 10 min.
Everyone has their own approach though so I definitely recommend checking old posts with a similar question!
I get out of the parking lot within 2 minutes, and I stay for headliners, so YMMV
> Plus you’ve likely been on your feet for 12 hours, jumped around, and walked miles without realizing it.
my phone usually records on the order of 30,000 steps a day. This is while camping.
Do lab to outdoor theatre is half a mile. the sahara is even further.
you rack up a lot of miles just walking around.
Wanted to see if anyone has stayed there for Coachella or known anyone who has? Pretty much everything is sold out but my friend I’m going with has Hilton Points so we can stay here for pretty cheap. I already looked and saw it’s 12 mins by car from the Palm Springs convention center, one of the shuttle stops. We would just need to get there somehow. We know the place is nice but want to make sure it’s not going to make thing a harder being that far from the shuttle stop. It’s like a 30 min drive from the festival too. This will be our first time going so we want to try to make it as seamless an experience as possible. Thanks!
You can also use the Aqua Caliente shuttle stop in Rancho Mirage. That shuttle stop is right off the freeway and Bob Hope Drive and won’t take as long coming and going as the Palm Springs stop. It’s a decent hotel but the area is a little sketchy. Also, if you’re using Hilton points the Embassy Suites in Palm Desert will eventually open up for points. It’s usually 60k points a night and is right next to the Albertsons shuttle stop. I booked that DoubleTree as well as my back up but have stayed at the Embassy Suites for ten years. It has always opened up in the past so keep your eye out as it is much more convenient, although it is a bit run down.
I stayed at the Homewood suites in cathedral city and 10/10 would recommend this stop. Make sure you type in Agua Caliente Rancho Mirage bc the Agua is a series of hotels in the area!! It’s like 10 minutes away.
Good to know thank you!!!
That sounds like a pain in the butt honestly. When you get back you’re not going to also want to uber home from the shuttle stop. We stayed at Marriott desert villas which had availability through Airbnb and its own shuttle stop.
That’s kindaaa what I was thinking, either we were gonna have to uber or rent a car. Which might not be awful but it’s not a thrilling idea.
We will look into Marriott too thanks!
Wait hotels are on Airbnb now?
They’re timeshares and individual owners are allowed to list their units through platforms like Airbnb
I’ve seen a few on there yeah.
No hotels are actually sold out already btw, they just haven’t opened up reservations for the 2026 dates yet so booking systems default to “sold out.” Hardly any hotels have opened up reservations aside from the ones that are part of the hotel packages
do you know around what month these hotels open up reservations?
Nearly every hotel should have reservations open by August
You could just uber to the shuttle stop, it is an extra step but it’s not that bad
Hey
I’m going to Coachella 2020, and as I was looking at accommodations Airbnb is too expensive. Anybody have any ideas on where I could stay? I’ll be going in a group of 10-15 people and would like to keep it under $250 per person. My group is not open to tenting. Any thoughts/ideas?
Camping is really the only option in your budget. You can try looking further out, but you’re going to be at least an hour away, if not more.
Remember there’s traffic getting out each night. So an hour drive could easily turn into 2+. The festival doesn’t end until 1am, so if you stay until the end of the headliner you’re not getting back until at least 3:30am. And someone needs to stay sober to drive.
Airbnb’s and hotels all book up by around August of the previous year. Previous years when I have planned for those, I would book in June, right around presale. This year I didn’t decide on going until general sale a couple days ago and if your deciding that late/looking for places this late, the best option is to camp without paying $1000/night for a place tbh.
FYI, I got a camping pass this year as back up since pretty easy to sell, I usually stay with a friend that lives down there.. but I think there were a bunch of hotel cancels last year w2 leading up since I found some for the weekend for about $5-600. Right now it’s $1,000+ it seems which = hell no haha a lot of hotels allow cancel right up to booking, so I would check week or so before if you’re set on booking one in any way :-)
Camping would 100% be the cheapest thing.
Booking a group that big is going to be very difficult in that price point now that the lineup is dropped.
Most hotels in the surrounding area will be at $300-400 a night at this point.
Just camp. It’s a ton of fun. It’s like a giant party before the fest opens.
You mean not open to camping?
Yeah
Im traveling from Toronto to Vegas with some friends the last weekend of April and realized that Coachella will be on the weekend before so was thinking that I might just make an extended trip and attend the festival + chill in LA before meeting up with them in Vegas. Only thing is finding a place to stay. All the airbnb prices in and around indio are absolutely insane and I dont have the money for something like that. The closest place I could find with reasonable prices were in Anza and Mountain Center. I dunno if those locations make sense and are close enough to take an uber to the nearest shuttle service. Is this pretty much all I can hope to get or are there any places that might have more reasonable pricing thats close to the festival?
Found out about festbeds last year it’s $99 a night for 4 nights minimum (cheaper than any Airbnb or hotel but more expensive than camping) it’s a 10 min walk from the festival grounds and you get your own bed and a/c and can connect with other festival goers. https://festbeds.com
Holy shit… if I end up doing Bothchella again this year… might have to try this out.
Hell ya! I haven’t done if but it looks worth it for the price
Oh I had no idea about this...Ill definitely check it out, thanks!

I guess another option for me would be to do the campsite thing, which ive never done before and have no experience in
I mean I’m a firm advocate for camping and would highly highly recommend it but if that’s not someone’s cup of tea that is the next cheapest option. If you have the means to camp I say do it. There are so many threads with insane amount of tips on here
If you’re really looking into saving your best choice is camping there. Preferred car camping is about $450 and that’s for Thursday-Monday of the weekend you go and it is the closest to the entrance of the venue. But if you wanna get a hotel a motel 6 around is about $1,700 for the three nights lol
I just bought camping bc $149 the whole weekend is substantially more reasonable than $600 a night..
Where do you buy camping? I was under the impression it was first come first serve for the tent camp.
I’d camp at Shadow Hills if I were you. It’s reasonable, has its own shuttle stop, and pretty decent creature comforts (pool, showers, etc.) There’s also a thread dedicated to connecting solo travelers with people trying to fill spots in houses.
Thanks for the link! Are the rates there from Thursday night to Monday morning, or is it per night?
Hi! Also interested in the link to connect with people who are trying to find houses
no longer going. i booked a riverside hotel and look for transfer.
Looking for a hotel near Coachella that does camping
Assuming you’re talking about resorts? I don’t know how safe it would be to camp at a holiday inn’s parking lot 😳
No there was a place that also offered camping they set it up and everything. I had seen it in a comment here before
Thank you. Ever stayed there? Much appreciated
I’ve never been to Coachella before (or any festival) and definitely want to go this year. I’m not familiar on where’s the best place to stay? Anyone have recommendations? Also how much should one budget to spend there? Thanks in advance!
I was solo last year and car camped. I would say that is the move
Car camping or festbeds.com
In terms of budget it really depends on if you want merch, food, alcohol but I’d say prob $2-300 could make due
Car camping and try to link up with other campers.
Try to find other people that are going alone and book together. Here on Reddit you should be able to find a few people. Going alone would hurt your pockets A LOT.
Car camping is your best bet , otherwise you'll have to pay a lot for hotels and shuttle
Aloha from Honolulu!,
First time going to Coachella, and I'm deciding to do it solo!
My question for all you solo Coachella goers out there is ,"where do you stay?"
I got a Wk2 GA + w Shuttle, however realized that the shuttle doesn't take me back to LA, except for the LAX one .
I also saw listed, there is two park + ride locations, via the anyline shuttle. I don't mind renting a car, and parking there instead and then driving outside the Palm Springs area.
Mahalo in advance for the advice!
If you don’t mind renting a car then you can go with Car Camping maybe?
