TL;DR
OLED vs QLED
When choosing a 4K TV for your PS5, the type of display technology is a significant consideration. OLED TVs, such as those from LG and Sony, are highly recommended due to their ability to deliver deep blacks and vibrant colors, which enhance the gaming experience [1:1]
[4:1]
[4:2]. However, if your room has a lot of natural light, you might consider QLED TVs, which offer higher brightness levels that can help reduce glare
[1:1].
Specific Models
The LG C2 OLED is frequently mentioned as a top choice for PS5 gaming due to its excellent picture quality and features like HDMI 2.1, 120Hz refresh rate, and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support [2:4]
[5:2]
[5:4]. The Sony Bravia OLED is another strong contender, especially if you prefer pairing your PS5 with a Sony TV
[4:2]. The Sony Z9K was also highlighted for its high performance, although it may be at a higher price point
[5:1].
Budget Considerations
While OLEDs are often recommended, they can be expensive. If you're on a tighter budget, you may need to look for sales or consider slightly older models like the LG C1, which still offers great performance [5:4]. For those looking to spend under $300, options are limited, and it may be worth waiting for sales or considering used models
[2:6].
Additional Features
When selecting a TV, ensure it supports key features for gaming, such as 4K resolution, HDR, and VRR. These features provide smoother gameplay and better image quality. It's also crucial to check the compatibility of these features with your PS5 settings, such as ensuring the correct HDMI ports are used for 120Hz gaming [3:3].
Room Lighting and Viewing Environment
Consider the lighting conditions in your room when choosing between OLED and QLED. OLEDs perform best in darker environments, while QLEDs handle bright rooms better due to their higher brightness levels [1:1]. Additionally, some users suggest using blackout blinds to improve viewing conditions if glare is an issue
[1:9].
Will be buying a TV come back Friday and wondering what I should look into for a tv that I can watch movies on with my ps5. I don’t care at all about how it does with gaming but specifically playing 4k movies. I think some kind of anti glare would be nice.
I’m planning on buying alien, LOTR trilogy, and Dune on 4k.
Also how much will the ps5 be limited compared to a standalone blu ray?
OLEDs are great for film watching because of how deep the blacks are, they provide a very dynamic picture and have good viewing angles. If sunlight is an issue in the room though, you can look at QLEDs, as they are generally brighter than OLED displays which can help with glare. Both are good options though.
Also the PS5 is fine for playing Blu-ray and 4K discs but it doesn't have Dolby Vision support, which you may or may not notice or care about.
I only have a few 4k so far it gets harder to buy when so much is available on streaming. QLEDs are the way to go for video and the audio is amazing!
The quality difference between a 4K disc and 4K on streaming platforms is pretty noticeable though. QLEDs are great but I personally prefer the look of an OLED display, but it really depends on what you like and what kind of room the TV is in.
Just so ya know, QLED isn’t a brand. It’s screen tech, the audio is unrelated.
My Samsung QN90A I can't even tell is on when the screen saver for my Fire Stick just goes black. I think the only time I can tell it is on is at night with all the lights off.
Why a PS5 if you don't even want to play games?
I have a nice monitor and prefer smaller screen for gaming. My tv broke and don’t want to buy a new one until Black Friday. I don’t want to spend more than 300-350
You will be missing out on Dolby Vision which is pretty significant to me, although some don't see much difference. If you really want to get the best I think the new LG G3 with MLA technology is one of the best if not the best option.
Buy a window black out blind and then get a tv.
It changed from previous gens.
They're shit at media now relative.
I want to purchase a good overall TV/monitor for my PS5 to get the best looking, smoothest gaming experience I can without spending too much money.
I want it to be the most well rounded possible, one that can support 4k, UHD, HDR, or all of the above without spending more than $300.
I'm looking for an answer ASAP.
Was about to recommend LG C2 OLED and then i saw “without spending more than $300”.
How much does it cost?
the 55 inch starts at $1500 before taxes. Sorry
This is what I have. When I got my ps5 I went to best buy and said "I need something to fully appreciate my ps5"
If you enable 120fps on the ps5 make sure u get a monitor with minimum 120hz refresh rate
https://youtu.be/CABkSa3e61o Digital Trends just did a good video about gaming tv
Honestly for the price you’re wanting I’d wait for the mid year sales.
Check out woot.com
Hi there please can anyone recommend me a decent 4K television for £500 or under which would work well with my recent acquisition thanks in advance
Sony x900h it does hdmi 2.1 and does 4k hdr 120hrz. I just recently got one and it's gorgeous.
I have an x900h and I can only get 4K 60hz according to my ps5 settings. I checked the setting for enhanced format on the tv but that didn’t seem to work. Any advice?
The obvious ones first (make sure tv is updated, make sure you're using an hdmi cable that supports hdcp 2.2) also make sure you have the ps5 plugged into ports 3 or 4 on the tv as those are the 120hz compatible ones. And idk if this one makes a difference but i did have a notification on the tv after I did the software update to setup my ps5 device with the tv and when I did I was able to select the high frame rate option.
Though I'm sorry to say I think it cost more than that I apologize I wrote this at work and didn't notice the price range then.
Quick hunt. This is a bit over by 50 at best buy but looks good. 120 hz HDR 2.1 Sony - 55" Class X750H Series LED 4K UHD Smart Android TV
This TV does not do 120Hz. It also has no local dimming so HDR is pretty bad. If there is no local dimming, HDR is just a spec point. The TV can take the signal but can't actually do anything with it beyond getting the entire TV brighter if it can even do that which in this case this Sony can not.
Thank you I’m in England and best buy are not here anymore they were here for all of 2 years maybe then left the Uk
Use rtings.com to find a good rated TV in your price range. You might have to do price conversions and they won't have UK/Europe specific brands.

The Visio M7 55" is $500 USD and supports VRR. The TCL 635 supports 1080p120Hz and supports VRR as well. This one is a little more expensive at $700 USD for 55".
Anything with a Samsung screen is a win in my book
Please no. To default to Samsung, the only winner here is Samsung and not the actual consumer.
Their Q60T for example is $650 and doesn't have any local dimming while TVs in this price range from Hisense, Visio, and TCL do, so significantly better HDR. They are also overall better televisions, and can offer better features such as 120Hz and/or VRR.
Anything with Samsung on it is a loss in my book, every single piece of tech I've had from them from phones to tvs to microwaves, fridges, dishwasher etc. have all fucked up just outside of warranty and then they refused to honor my state warranty unless I took them to court and contacted their legal department :/ They can go fuck themselves.
I have the LG OLED CXPUA. It was rated the number 1 TV last year and number 1 for new gem systems. It checks off every box the ps5 can deliver. 2.1 120htz VRR. You name it. I got the 77inch but it comes in smaller versions. The TV is absolutely amazing. I have 0 regrets.
I wanted to ask what’s the best TV I can get to experience the best out is ps5. I’m looking for 55inch and higher. What options should I look for. (Used works as well)
Sony bravia Oled, if want to pair it w/ a sony, otherwise LG OLed all the way
بالطبع، إليك الصياغة بدون الشرطة: For God's sake, buy an OLED whether it's LG or Sony. Your eyes deserve true blacks. Period.
Oled for sure
LG C5
LG OLED C4 or C5
Looking to buy a new TV. What is everyone's suggestions for one that will help me get the best experience out of my PS5. My current TV doesn't have vrr and the picture looks too dark when HDR is enabled. Thanks in advance for any advice.
I believe the LG c2 OLED is a pretty popular choice. Might be worth checking review websites like Rtings though for a better idea of TV’s
Best is determined by budget and user preferences (such as OLED, non OLED if concerned about burn in, and affected by room lighting conditions)
LG C1 or preferably C2, as others have said, regularly voted best gaming monitor, let alone TV...
Lg C2 or LG G2 absolute best
Sony Z9K is what I went with. There's another even better TV that I also use but it's not really a consumer display.
Z9K is pretty awesome though. Chose it over LG G2, Sony A95K and Samsung S95B.
I’ve currently got a 55inch 4K curved Samsung smart TV, but just wondering if there’s a better TV anyone can recommend?
Sony OLED, or LG OLED. 2021 or 2022 models will suffice.
Thank you!
YouTube review the TV's. Or go to your local Best Buy so you can actually see the picture quality.
Probably going to cost you more than the game console LOL
Considering I only really use my current TV for gaming I don’t mind splashing out!
A good resource for this: https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/best/ps5
I have the Samsung QN90B listed there and it was definitely worth the upgrade for the PS5
I’m looking to upgrade my TV to utilize more of the PS5’s abilities, and generally a better experience overall. I currently have a Samsung 4K QLED 55’, and it works great, but it is not OLED-quality and 120hz.
Looking into it, it seems the LG C4 is very well received and has good compatibility with the base PS5 and PS5 pro. For those that have it, are you satisified? Any other recommendations?
Appreciate the help!
I have multiple LG OLEDs and love them all. At this point my TV buying guide is just “pick the fanciest LG OLED you can fit in your budget.”
This. OLED is the single most impressive technology that is visually recognizable. Ideally it has HDR, 4k and 120Hz.
I have a 65" LG C4
It's beautiful.
The interface? Ehhhh... this stupid magic remote mouse is a pain in the ass.
i have the 65” C3 and it’s definitely beautiful, i don’t mind the remote at all, i like it actually and it’s super helpful the small handful of times i need to search something. i will say though that the home screen layout is absolutely trash. i turned all the ads off which made it better but having the app icons be the smallest thing on the menu in a single file line bar is so so dumb. still the best tv i’ve ever had by a mile
Man you should try a modern Samsung if you want to know how ass a TV OS can be
Bought a 65 s90d I got for $1k from Brandsmart. I cannot stand the operating system compared to my old c3. It’s slow, clunky, freezes. It’s so bad. I must say the panel is great, but the operating system kills it.
Awesome! Interface doesnt matter much to me. Don’t care much for the magic remote control thing but can you turn it off?
Get a LG C or G series of the size and price you can afford. Simple as that.
I recently got a 65 s90d qd-oled. Super happy with it
No built in Chromecast is a travesty. I love mine other than that.
Cool! Did you have to mess around with the settings a lot to get it to look just right?
Not really default game mode settings needed a slight tweak for my tastes but you could just go with it probably. Standard settings changes like all tv's I guess! Warm2 not cool etc.
The tv is in a bright room. I have curtains if I need to but honestly the brightness is amazing on this I've knocked it down to 35. and it'd replaced a q90t qled that died which was plenty bright. I think the panel type just handles reflections better.
This is my first oled so I don't know how to compare to another but it's great. Watched the dark knight on it last night omg amazing
I’ve been using the same ~50 inch Samsung 1080p TV for over a decade and I’d like to upgrade to a 4K TV now that I have a PS5. Anyone have any recommendations for one around the same size? I’d rather not spend more than like $500.
Whatever you end up with, make sure it has HDMI 2.1, VRR support
This is exactly why I went with the Sony X900H. It’s beautiful paired with the PS5.
No tv for $500 is going to have that
most certainly not. I think we're in an in between year right now where these features are only in the mid to high range. in 2 or so they should start trickling down.
I just wouldn't buy a TV right now without those features for next gen gaming.
For $100 more the Hisense u7g has hdmi 2.1 and can handle 120 fps. I got it on sale over the holidays for $600. OP might want to save for the extra $100 and get a tv that can handle vrr.
If you're in the $500 range you're probably going to be looking at the TCL 5 series or Hisense U6G. Both of those will be huge upgrades for you. They aren't the top of the line, but they have 4K, HDR, and Local Contrast dimming. If you can manage $250 more you can get a Hisense U8G which has 120hz and VRR which are two features that will be playing prominent roles this generation.
Thank you. I don’t know anything about TVs and don’t know what any of those things mean but I will look at all those options. I could go as high as $750 but I’d like to not spend too much because I just bought a $1200 guitar and a PS5 in the same day so I need to chill for a bit lol.
Hey...this has been a while, but i was hoping to hear about what tv you went with.
I'm also on a budget and just got a ps5 about to months ago and would really like to play Elden Ring (for example) on Quality Mode. And I have a very old 50' Sceptre that I'd like to end up giving to a neighbor or something after upgrading.
So, if you've picked a tv id like to know how much of a change has it made for your gaming experience?
Would a LG Qled miniled qned86 be better than those tvs? Really considering getting it
At that price range I would suggest researching TCL. They're a solid affordable 4K option. Might not have the best HDR, no VRR or 120hz options at that price range... but you'll get a pretty good picture.
This 100%. They break it down for budgets as well. Great site if you’re interested in buying a new TV for gaming
I have TCL it's a relatively cheap brand you might want to look into. I've enjoyed mine so far and I've had it for about 3 years.
I’ve been torn on what TV to get. I’m now between the LG G5 and Bravia 9. I’m coming from an old Samsung HD tv so anything will be an upgrade for me.
I briefly had an LG B4 last year but returned it bc of how dim it was. I also had windows across from it.
The G5 looks really good as an overall tv but the issues surrounding all of the picture modes is concerning given the high price.
My questions would be how is playing ps5 on it? Do I have to use FMM to have an enjoyable experience with PS5? Does YouTube TV play well on the G5 given its lower quality or would my Samsung play it better? How is Netflix, etc?
The Bravia 9 would check the boxes but am concerned with reflections/glare and the viewing angle.
I’ll primarily be playing PS5 and streaming over Netflix, YouTube tv, etc)
I am moving into a new place next week. The TV would be on this entertainment center.
Any thoughts? :)

I'll do what I can do to help you.. so I have always been a Sony man especially when it comes to nice expensive TVs. BUT just last week I bought a 77-in C5 I would be lying to you if I didn't tell you it was the most amazing TV I have ever owned my entire life!!!
Watching an actual 4K HDR movie will just literally blow your way, I couldn't believe how amazing this TV was / is. As far as all the issues they were having with the C5 and G5 I have not seen anything and I mean absolutely nothing that looks like the problem that used to be!!!
My choice came down to money and having a TV I can hook a extra computer up to you for playing games while laying on the couch. Sorry I can't be of more help but I can say you won't be disappointed!!
I do wish I had the money for the very high-end Sony cuz I would have picked that in a heartbeat but at the end of the day I'm glad I did not waste my money when this C5 is still blowing me away.
What size were you thinking of getting?
55 or 65
I personally wouldn’t go with the LG G5. I don’t like how LG released a premium model with so many bugs with the promise of a firmware update to fix it. Then when they released an update, it only fixed it on Filmmaker Mode and then passed the same bugs from the G5 onto the C5.
If you want a similar OLED then I would go with the Panasonic Z95B. It uses the same RGB tandem panel, but without those bugs. The only downside is the Fire OS system Panasonic is using.
If you don’t want to go OLED, the Bravia 9 is a really great TV. It almost had me switching from OLED to MiniLED, but I was too scared and stuck with OLED and got the A95L.
If you’re worried about reflections on Bravia 9, then G5 won’t save the day!
Would the S95F be a good choice? Concerned about Samsung’s reliability and if it dims too much with the ABL?
Pick your poison.. The prefect TV does not yet exist.
What is your viewing distance?
Looks like. Blackout shades could be your cheapest upgrade.
I second this - blackout curtains are a great $20 investment and will make a massive difference in my experience. I have an LG C1 and I thought it was fairly dim until I got blackout curtains, and now I think it's too bright at night and need to turn the OLED pixel brightness down to 50-ish lol
They are both great TVs. G5 has some next level glare reduction, but if it has sunlight directly on it, no good.
I am the world’s biggest advocate of Filmmaker Mode, but it is not meant for games. Generally it bypasses the auto low latency modes. You’re better off modifying the Game mode to have FMM picture settings but retain VRR and LLM.
Thank you!! Do you think the sunlight would be an issue in my room based on the pic?
Hey, guys.
As the title implies, I have a PlayStation 5 and I’m currently in the market for a good TV that’ll support it’s next gen features (HDMI 2.1). Also, I’m looking for one that’s between 50-55”. No bigger than that. The reason for this is that it’ll be situated in my bedroom. Generally, I keed my curtains closed, but if I open them up, a ton of sunlight comes in.
I’ve been hearing that Samsungs are coming out as totally unreliable, recently. Many horror stories I’ve read/heard describe people that have barely had their Samsung TVs and they start having problems extremely soon.
I’ve seen people recommending OLEDs a lot (especially the CX and the C1), but I’m deathly afraid of burn in.
Anyways, I want to know what you guys think about which would be the best TV to get for my PS5. Be it Samsung, LG, Sony, TCL, Vizio, etc.
u/HTsavant had a "PS5 isn't a mythical beast" comment a while ago. Should have bookmarked it.
Anyway, if you're worried about burn-in, then A80J/C1 with a Best Buy GSP or QN90A/X90J/TCL R646. I'm assuming you're in US as you've mentioned Vizio.
Also, you might want to keep your curtains closed as most TV don't do well with direct sunlight.
Some people think if you do ANY gaming, it has to be C1 among OLEDs. I disagree.
Is the TCL good, really? I’ve done some light searching on it and all I’ve seen is a TON of bad reviews. Issues ranging from OS, panels with defects ranging from dark spots to dead pixels to ripple effects, etc etc etc.
I have to admit that the TCL seemed like a really good option, but seeing all those reviews on the overall bad quality of the product, I’m skeptical if it truly is a good choice.
It is what it is. At its price point, it's a decent TV. If you want better QA/QC, better processing, you need to pay up.
Ahh! Magical device, not mythical beast! 😂
Don't worry about burn in unless you're using a computer. The C1 is still the best until the next gen of tvs come out
Yeah, the C1 is definitely like, the #1 TV I get recommended for gaming.
My laptop is oled 2 years old, 40 hrs a week of excel etc. 4000 hrs still no windows start burnin
Some companies have that pixel shift tech to avoid burn ins so it doesn't always happen
I got the X90J and I love it. OLEDs are best, but if you are scared of burn in and not having enough brightness, skip.
So is OLED only good for night time gaming or dark dark rooms?
I also love my x90j and didn’t get an oled because I was scared of burn in on it. However if you want the best quality you should go with an OLED
Best 4k TV for Ps5
Key Considerations for Choosing the Best 4K TV for PS5:
HDMI 2.1 Support: Ensure the TV has HDMI 2.1 ports to take full advantage of the PS5's capabilities, including 4K at 120Hz and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR).
Refresh Rate: Look for a TV with a refresh rate of at least 120Hz for smoother gameplay, especially in fast-paced games.
Low Input Lag: A low input lag (ideally under 20ms) is crucial for responsive gaming. This enhances your overall gaming experience.
HDR Performance: High Dynamic Range (HDR) enhances the visual quality. Look for TVs with good peak brightness (at least 600 nits) and wide color gamut support.
Screen Size and Viewing Distance: Choose a size that fits your space. A larger screen (55 inches or more) is generally better for immersive gaming, especially at a distance.
Smart Features: Consider smart TV features for streaming services, but prioritize gaming performance.
Recommendations:
LG OLED C1 Series: Known for its stunning picture quality, deep blacks, and excellent HDR performance. It supports HDMI 2.1, has a 120Hz refresh rate, and low input lag, making it ideal for PS5 gaming.
Samsung QN90A Neo QLED: Offers great brightness and color accuracy, with HDMI 2.1 support and low input lag. It's a solid choice for bright rooms.
Sony A80J OLED: Excellent for gaming with its low input lag and stunning visuals. It also has features optimized for the PS5, such as Auto HDR Tone Mapping.
These options provide a balance of performance and features that enhance your gaming experience on the PS5.
