TL;DR
Top Recommendations
Dell G2724D: This monitor is highlighted for its excellent performance in the budget category. It offers a crisp display for fast-moving games, although it may lack the vivid colors and highlights of more expensive models [1:1].
AOC 24G2: Known for being a reliable and affordable option, this 1080p monitor has been praised for its durability and performance over two years of use [1:2].
Gigabyte M27Q-X and LG 27GR83Q-B: Both monitors are recommended for those looking for a 1440p resolution with high refresh rates. They are available on sale and fit within a $300 budget, making them great options for gamers seeking higher resolution without breaking the bank [2:2].
Other Notable Mentions
MSI MAG 274QF X24: A new model that was purchased for around $220 on discount. It's noted for its good reviews and might be worth checking out if it's still available at a reduced price [3:4].
Sceptre E255B-1658A: Although currently priced higher, this 25" 1080p monitor offers customizable color settings, which can be adjusted to personal preferences [4:1].
Curved LG Ultragear: Praised as a standout option among several choices, particularly for those interested in a larger 30-32 inch screen size [5:1].
Considerations for Color and Calibration
For users concerned about color accuracy and range, it’s important to note that budget gaming monitors may not offer precise sRGB modes or maintain calibration across different brightness levels [4:3]. If color fidelity is a priority, you might need to look beyond typical gaming monitors.
Conclusion
When choosing a budget gaming monitor, consider what features are most important to you, such as resolution, refresh rate, and color accuracy. The Dell G2724D and AOC 24G2 are solid choices for budget-conscious gamers, while the Gigabyte M27Q-X and LG 27GR83Q-B offer higher resolution options within a similar price range.
I am looking get a new peripheral setup and i was wondering if you knew any 2k or 1080p >165hz monitors that were under $300 Thanks!

For good gaming monitors check this post https://anicereviews.com/best-4k-gaming-monitors/
So you completely ignored the post, cool. Specifically said under 300, doesn't need 4k. These are all over 300 and are 4k.
“Budget” and it’s over $400 lmfao
THANK YOU!
The best budget gaming monitor is the Dell G2724D. It delivers remarkable performance for the price and gives you a great gaming experience even if you don't have much to spend on a high-end monitor. It works well if you play a lot of fast-moving games, as rapid motion looks fairly crisp, which isn't that common for monitors in this price range. However, it doesn't create an experience that's as engaging as that of more expensive monitors, as highlights don't pop and colors don't look vivid in HDR. If you want a monitor with more vivid colors, better contrast, and highlights that pop in HDR, check out the AOC Q27G3XMN. However, it has far worse viewing angles than the Dell and can be difficult to find. If you're on a tight budget and are looking for something cheap, there are some monitors you can get that perform well for gaming, like the Gigabyte GS27QC. It's a step down in overall gaming performance from the Dell G2724D, but that's normal for a cheap gaming monitor. The monitor works best in darker rooms, and its contrast is good enough that deep blacks only appear slightly gray, which is excellent for a monitor without local dimming. And while it doesn't display a wide range of colors, it does at least support HDR, so games look more realistic than on monitors that lack this feature. The best 240Hz budget gaming monitor is the ViewSonic XG2431. Its higher refresh rate is ideal for competitive gaming, and the lower resolution makes it easier for your graphics card to maintain high frame rates for a smooth and responsive feel while gaming. While bigger monitors in the budget price range generally don't offer the best performance, if you want the biggest possible size within your budget and you're okay with getting something with worse gaming performance than the Dell G2724D, check out the LG 32GN650-B. It has the same 1440p resolution as the Dell, delivering the same amount of details, but because of its larger size, the pixel density is lower, so games and text aren't as sharp.
I am looking to buy the best affordable gaming monitor. Here are my preferences:
I would say my budget is about $300 but it’s not firm. I mainly play Valorant if that helps with anything. I honestly don’t know anything about monitors so feel free to educate me!
Gigabyte M27Q-X for $280 or LG 27GR83Q-B for $300 on sale at the moment are the 2 I would look at around that budget assuming you're in the US

Logitech ultragear that exact size. Fps, price and resolution on sale right now. Amazon. Prime early deal 40% off 299$. Right this second. As long as you are ok with a IPS monitor. The OLED is more.
Funny I just comment on a post 30 minutes ago about somehow who just bought it
I highly recommend lg monitors. Just from quality and durability. ( Had MSI and Asus no tiors before that just didn't last long. Well 1 Asus tuf 27 inch is still going but the other 3 all broke on or around the 1 year mark.)

Im giving the ASRock phantom a try. Not sure if it’s still on sale but I got it for $140 on Newegg. If it turns out to be a decent monitor, it’s a crazy deal for the specs. I think it’s only 180hz though. I think there’s a 240hz version that cost more.

Just ordered the msi mag 274qf x24, was in your exact situation. I bought it for about 220 usd as its on discount, if im not wrong its a new model and so far looks good on reviews. You can go check it out, ill tell you my thoughts on it after I get it and try it
Here are a few options based on the most recommended monitors in this subreddit:
1080p
Acer Nitro KG241Y – 24", IPS, 180 Hz, 0.5ms. Budget 1080p option with great value. The Dell G2524H is a small upgrade with better build and 280 Hz if you can find it. For esports, the Alienware AW2524HFD overclocks to 500 Hz and is top-tier if you want max smoothness.
1440p
One of the best overall budget monitors is the LG 27GL83A-B – 27", IPS, 165 Hz 1ms with FreeSync. The Acer Nitro XV271U is a strong budget alternative, and XV272U bumps refresh rate to 240 Hz with slight color tradeoffs.
The best mix of price/value is probably the LG 27GR83Q-B 240 Hz, 1ms. FreeSync Premium, and solid motion clarity, with very good colors. The LG 27GP850-B is cheaper with a still-excellent 165 Hz panel and long history. ASUS ROG Swift XG27AQMR is a really good high end IPS 300hz monitor for 1440p competitive gaming.
For OLED, the 2 favorites are Alienware AW2725DF – 27", QD-OLED, 360 Hz. Superb colors and contrast with 3-year burn-in warranty. The MSI MPG 271QRX is a great alternative with a few extra features like a KVM switch.
4K
Long time favorite is the Gigabyte M32U – 32", IPS, 144 Hz. FreeSync / G-SYNC compatible, HDMI 2.1, great value with USB-C and KVM switch. The M28U is the 28" version for tighter budgets. An alternative is [Dell G3223Q](https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-5400-Touchscreen-Computer/dp/B0B1319VJ4?g from one subreddit, it doesn't automatically proceed to the next.tag=b0-1-20) which has better build and better warranty.
For OLED, ASUS PG32UCDM – QD-OLED, 240 Hz, gamer-focused, DisplayHDR True Black is considered one of the best right now. Another good one is MSI MPG 321URX – QD-OLED, 240 Hz, and often best value among premium 32" OLEDs. Another solid one is the Samsung G80SD – QD-OLED, 240 Hz, vibrant colors, Smart TV features.
Great alternative to OLED is the Samsung Neo G8 – 32", Fast VA Mini-LED, 240 Hz. Best 4K monitor if you want LED local dimming without OLED.
I do not know a lot with monitor. I think I'm ok with 1080p. I don't need anything higher than 30". But I have a lot of issue in color range. My experience with monitor is that I can't find the right colors. 144hz refresh rate is ok too.
The M27Q is the best value monitor in my opinion. there are cheaper 1080p options which are good tho. https://youtu.be/CEqQi6Ljq8g
What is your issue in color range?
If you need/want exact sRGB that keeps calibration with different brightness values, there is not one gaming screen I know off that is even close to budget range. Even the 600-800$ gaming screens dont garantee sRGB modes and sRGB with brightness change is not present in any current gaming screen I know off.
The 1080p (1920x1200 so WUXGA not 1080p) creator screens with 60Hz limits have some usable sRGB modes that have usable factory calibration aswell, but thats not what you are looking for.
If you care about fake, wide gammut color spaces that turn everything that is not a game into a cartoonish look, but it creates a high contrasty cheat filter for first person shooters, if thats what you care for, most / all gaming screens are fine. Most lack skin tones in the reds, because thats more expensive to do it right with cheap panels. Visible banding in skin tones is not rare and should be expected at any price range with gaming screens.
1080p even WUXGA is good for 24" as used in pro tournaments, but 27" and larger is starting to show pixels. I would rather keep it to 24" in 1080p/WUXGA instead of using a bigger screen.
What's your budget range?
I picked up an MSI Optix 27" IPS at Costco for $170.
There really isn't a "go to" montior especially if it comes down to personal color preference. I've used a Sceptre E255B-1658A that I got on Amazon for $160 for the past two years, although it's going for almost $300 right now for some reason.
It's a 25" 1080p 165hz montior for fairly cheap. In it's settings it has options to adjust Temperature, red green blue, cyan magenta yellow (hue), gamma, tint, saturation, backlight, brightness, & contrast. So basically you can customize the colors to your exact liking.
Since the prices of everything computer related fluctuate very fast, I'd recommend going with Any Sceptre monitor that you like the specs of.

That curved LG ultragear monitor is by far the best here. It’s new and totally bad ass. Get it done.
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for an affordable monitor for gaming, with a budget of about $500. I mostly play games like Elden Ring and Kingdom Come Deliverance, so I’d like something with a decently high refresh rate (144Hz or more) and in the 24–27 inch range.
I think 1440p would be good for the visuals in these kinds of games if there’s a good option in my budget.
Thanks for any advice!
You mentioned a $500 budget which is more than I wanted to spend when I was in the same position as you last week, but I personally ended up spending $150 plus tax on an MSI 1440p 180hz IPS 27" monitor at Costco, which I thought was an awesome deal. Not sure if you're a Costco member or not, but if you are, I believe this deal is good until today (9/7/2025) if I'm not mistaken. If you aren't able to make it to a warehouse today, you should be able to order it online to get that price. And the great thing about Costco is their easy return policy in case you have any issues. The specific model is G274QPF if you're interested.
since when did budget mean more then £300 these days, crazy people suggesting montiors that was over 500 calling it budget lol
Acer or LG. Stay away from Gigabyte, Dell and Alienware.
The cheapest one there is

I have done research and found these to be really good options. My budget is about 250. Ik a lot of pc gamers want specific functions in their monitors but I don’t. I’m a casual gamer just trying to have a monitor that can support and give me a better experience overall. It’s also for PS5 Here are the 3 options I found:
Acer Nitro XV272U
Asus VG248Q
Gigabyte M27Q:
Between those three, the Asus VG248QE is the one you don't want. It was a good budget monitor... when it came out over a decade ago. Today it's a terrible monitor for $250, and there are now monitors in the $100 range that are superior. (The VG248QG and VG248QR are 1080p monitors, which again, there are $100 monitors that surpass both of them.)
Between the Acer XV272U and Gigabyte M27Q ... the best one is the one you can get for less as they're likely the same panel. The only real difference is the Acer has (likely terrible) speakers, and the M27Q has a built in KVM.
Sharing this gem of a list that curates some of the best gaming monitors you can get right now — from high-refresh-rate beasts to color-accurate 4K panels for creators who game on the side.
It has monitors for all budget categories (image is of the first 4 only)

Gem of a list yet first few monitors are the worst overpriced crap I've ever seen
Did you see the link?
Planning on getting myself a new gaming set up, decided on everything but need recos for a new monitor. Not sure what to prioritise, better resolution or a better refresh rate? Is there anything out there that combines both? My budget’s not super high so keep that in mind please.
The sweet spot for budget monitor is 1440p 180hz. You can find a lot of affordable one. Once you go 240hz then it's starts getting expensive.
Dell G2725D: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DGMQ2M1G
$139, 27", 1440P, 180Hz, IPS, 99% sRGB gamut, adaptive sync.
No compromise on refresh rate, price, or resolution.
I would go for the g2724d. It's simular price and a better monitor except being 165hz which doesn't really matter
$314, over double the price: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0979KQTDD
Seems discontinued: https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-27-gaming-monitor-g2724d/apd/210-bhxc/monitors-monitor-accessories
Figure out first what’s more important to you; resolution or refresh rate then start from there. Consider also your PC and see what it can handle. There are definitely monitors that have high resolutions and/or high refresh rates, but consider first what I mentioned above. If you want both, you’ll need a beefier pc to maximize. Otherwise, try to look for a monitor that balances ur needs
AOC make some of the cheapest high fps monitors i've seen
I had a low budget, too, so I got a 27" Acer Nitro monitor for $200 a couple of years ago and I'm pretty happy with it.
Edit: Mine is model number XV271U M3BMIIPRX. There's also the KG271U N3BMIIPX.
27 inch acer nitro are insane. i have 2 as well and they are such good bang for your buck imo. 1440p 144hz
As the title, I'm looking for a new monitor.
144-165hz
27" min size
Budget: Max $500
Any good recommendations?
Thanks
You've confused a lot of poor commentors who can't read so well.
$300 - $500 budget != I need a budget monitor.
What it means is that the budget is around 3 to 5 hundred dollars.
budget monitor for 300-500? wow
1440p 27'' 144/165hz "budget" options are 250-300 minimum (unless you buy the shittiest monitor of the market). He is open to go up to 500 which is fine, reaching mid-range monitors of that size/res/hz. Btw he said "27inch minimum", so he might be open for 32'', where the prices are going up and you are still in the "budget" zone, dont fool yourself...
The pricing is pretty much like GPUs, you can get decent deals at 300$ (budget), you can get the best at 2000$. 300 will still be low-end.
Unless idk you are a homeless man, then yeah, a fifty bucks 21'' 60hz sounds like the actual "budget" option smh
I got this for 250 a month ago and its been fantastic. Great colors, 1440, 165hz, it was a no brainer and I highly recommend it. I had the previous model but it broke when i was moving sadly.
even if that wasnt the case, these guys think that the "budget" option in 2023 is 24'' 1080p, while most gamers bought monitors like these in 2010...
Also an owner of this monitor and i love it!
Gigabyte M27Q is pretty much the best bang for buck until you get towards 4k / OLED screens, it goes for about $300
I second this. I own both the m27q and the m27q-x. Both are great and never had any issues.
Is this the new S2721DGF? I got that for about $260 on a deep sale and it's been fantastic. Love my Dell monitors.

Best Budget Gaming Monitor
Key Considerations for a Budget Gaming Monitor:
Refresh Rate: Look for a monitor with at least a 60Hz refresh rate for smooth gameplay. For a better experience, consider 144Hz if your budget allows.
Response Time: A lower response time (1ms to 5ms) reduces motion blur and ghosting, which is crucial for fast-paced games.
Resolution: Aim for at least 1080p (Full HD) resolution. If you can stretch your budget, a 1440p monitor offers better clarity and detail.
Panel Type:
Adaptive Sync Technology: Look for monitors with FreeSync or G-Sync compatibility to reduce screen tearing and stuttering during gameplay.
Recommendations:
Acer XFA240: A solid choice with a 24-inch Full HD display, 144Hz refresh rate, and 1ms response time. It also features FreeSync support, making it great for gaming.
ASUS VG245H: Another excellent budget option, this 24-inch monitor has a 75Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, and FreeSync support. It’s designed specifically for gaming with dual HDMI ports for easy connectivity.
Dell S2419HGF: A 24-inch monitor with a 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time. It offers good color accuracy and is well-suited for gaming.
Takeaway: Prioritize refresh rate and response time for a smooth gaming experience, and consider the panel type based on your preferences for color and viewing angles. The Acer XFA240 and ASUS VG245H are both excellent budget-friendly options that deliver solid performance for gamers.
