TL;DR
Popular Carry Heroes
Several heroes stand out as popular choices for carrying games. Sven is often cited as a reliable carry due to his ability to farm efficiently and contribute significantly during team fights [3:1]
[3:10]. Faceless Void is another strong choice, especially with recent updates that enhance his farming and fighting capabilities
[2:10]
[2:12]. Other notable mentions include Phantom Assassin (PA), Gyrocopter, and Slark, who are considered strong in the current meta
[3:1]
[4:4].
Hero Strengths and Strategies
Different heroes have unique strengths that make them effective carries. For instance, Sven's ability to clear ancient stacks quickly and his powerful cleave attack make him formidable in farming and team fights [3:8]. Faceless Void's Chronosphere can turn the tide of battles, and his scaling potential makes him a late-game powerhouse
[2:9]
[2:11]. Slardar, while not traditionally seen as a carry, has been noted for his early game dominance and ability to 1v1 other carries effectively
[4:1]
[4:2].
Beginner-Friendly Carries
For newcomers to DOTA 2, Wraith King is frequently recommended due to his straightforward playstyle. His abilities allow for easy farming and forgiving mistakes, thanks to his ultimate which grants a second life [5:1]
[5:4]
[5:5]. Juggernaut is another beginner-friendly option, offering good survivability and damage output
[5:1].
Adaptation and Meta Considerations
While certain heroes are strong in the current meta, it's important to adapt to each game's unique circumstances. Players should consider their comfort level with specific heroes and the overall team composition when choosing a carry [1:3]. Additionally, understanding hero matchups and itemization can significantly impact performance
[2:7].
In conclusion, selecting the best carry hero depends on personal skill, familiarity with the hero, and the current meta. Sven and Faceless Void are excellent choices for experienced players looking to dominate games, while Wraith King offers a simpler yet effective option for beginners.
I want to know the best hero to solo carry the team as i have no faith in my team no more?
2700 mmr +
for me a good meepo , arc warden , huskar , or anti mage can carry alone
Don’t lock yourself to playing only one role, keep an open mind and have a good attitude. Communicate with team, mute the entire enemy when you load in to the game. Play heroes that you are confy on and that are in the meta. Remember that every game is different though. If you should get carry and go up vs for example CK and have the last pick on him, going medusa will probably win you the game if you get your aghs quickly.
bloodseeker. also it's easier to carry from mid
A good attitude!
The carry you are good at , i carry games with lycan , My friend carry with draw, the other friend carry with pa
I have played some carry after getting back and all I can say is that I feel out of touch with some of the carry. I played lone druid, jugg, mk, pl, luna and arc but they don't feel like the type of carry that could solo fight in end game anymore. Any recommendation on what hero should I pick that is fun and frustrating for the enemy?
Dont listen to people who play riki in my experience he goes 25-0 and still loses in the end cause he has the worst push capability of any hero in the game
Yeah he definitely struggles to end games, but if your team can supplement that like with SS ult he's a lot better.
Also notably isn't amazing in late game teamfights as well and gets out scaled by a lot of other carries.
worst push capability
my riki carries seem to actively avoid even attempting to hit towers, which makes it even worse
I have a 70% winrate on riki for about 100 games around divine bracket. I ONLY pick him when i already have a push hero on my team; then it's just a free win.
Void. With the maelstrom update it really boosts void's farming due to the additional attack speed.
Overrated AF in Legend rank, you have to know what ur doing, he's not a brainless hit, kill, survive hero like CK and others were before 7.35, get a carry that can fight, most popular pos 5s are quite aggressive, win the lane and let ur team push, join if u can. Literally haven't seen a FV win a game so far
Bro is top winrate and scales the hardest. Just afk farm and eventually you win especially if your opponents make mistakes
And yet he is still THE #1 most picked hero, and rocks a solid 54+% winrate in high MMR (where games are much shorter, he’s even better at lower ranks)
As above said, he is the #1 pick in immortal and still keeps a 54% winrate. You may just need to adjust timings and see if itemization changed a little. Like I know with bkb nerfs manta is almost always 3rd item after MoM and maelstrom. I wondered if MoM would stay must have or not with attack speed coming from maelstrom and more from Manta
That mild change in DPS means nothing in terms of voids growth. A lot of carries plateau at a specific point but void just gets stronger and stronger until he hits level 30. Sceptor and shard are also great on him. Frankly, I consider him the strongest late game carry right now because of everything he has right now.
Void, just pick void. Number 1 carry on pro tracker right now
I’m about 2-3k and void feels great this patch. Maelstrom changes, new orb of corrosion, and buffs to bud kit all are great. On top of that he’s just an insane hero with chrono, and if anything it’s easier to hit 3-4 man chronos in lower mmr, so he’s really strong
In the past it was lina, but now who is the broken/meta carrys
Mars or Abaddon, you can carry your team to defeat by trying to play with those two.
Matu is the only one who can play carry aba and lycan
If you make Pos 5 then yeah, he can potentially be the best healer in DotA in the early to mid game. But even then, he will lose effectiveness in the late game.
Making a tank/fighter build now is just impossible, the nerfs completely neutered that playstyle unfortunately.
Well, unlike PA or Gyro, there’s not really a single thing that pushed him over the edge.
He’s had a few small buffs here and there, like giving him strength when he levels cleave, giving him slow resistance when he ults, buffing Warcry a little bit.
Then there’s the recent BKB changes that make it so Halberd, Nullifier, and Silver Edge don’t work through BKB. All of those are annoying for Sven, and now when he presses BKB, he doesn’t have to deal with them.
The biggest thing that I would say though, is the current meta just really favors him. The meta is really good for two kinds of carries: heroes that can AFK farm after the lane for a bit in the jungle, and heroes that are really good assassins. Not only is Sven good at farming the jungle, he’s the best at it (out of the popular carry heroes), and he doesn’t need to farm for too long. Where PA becomes a threat with 3-4 core items, Sven can take over a game with just Echo Saber and Blink. His timing is really strong and much earlier than all the other meta carries. And while Sven might not be the first hero that comes to mind when you think “assassin-type” heroes, with Blink he can instantly jump on and delete supports. And with Warcry he can easily jump from one kill to the next.
It’s just kind of a perfect storm of traits that all make Sven amazing in this patch.
I'm playing Muerta right now, great against PA and great against Sven
I think yatoro is pretty broken carry right now /s
Against PA - your ult makes you invulnerable to her, but her BKB doesn't make her invulnerable to you, and in fact you can kill her in BKB in just 3-4 seconds (not if she uses Fan of Knives though). Against Sven you attack with magic damage and his 49 armor don't do anything.
The basic opinion is PA, but Sven is the real unga-bunga busted carry. People just like playing PA, she's always popular even when bad, so she gets picked more often.
Gyro, Void, and Slark are also quite strong right now. Gyro was the best, but he got nerfed. Still good though, just a tier below Sven and PA.
Sven is just reliable as fuck. PA can be shut down if you fuck her up before her bfury timing. Sven has no timing like that, he just needs a couple levels and he can dissappear into jungle no matter how hard he lost lane and still out-farm just about anyone, it's actually really stupid.
Yeah, that’s the best thing about him. All he really needs to accelerate his farm is level 7. And not only does he start farming jungle earlier than everyone else, but he comes out of the jungle earlier than everyone else. Whereas PA needs like BFury, Deso, BKB, maybe an Aghs or Basher or Nully to take over the game, Sven just goes MoM, disassemble that that into Echo Sabre, Blink or BKB, and you’re ready to participate.
On top of that he’s the best ancient stacks clearer in the game, and now that there’s two of them, stacking for Sven hasn’t been this lucrative in a long time. Maybe not since the days of Fear’s Great American Cleave.
I mean, you've got a point,
But those two picks, even when played optimally are super subpar in pubs right now. They have a decent track record in pro match right now, but it's partially because characters that do their job better are contested/banned more frequently. Mars in particular practically requires Captain's mode due to how situational he is when it comes to his strengths.
Yeah with recent buff to gyro and change on pa both character are broken
Hello, I mostly play pos 3 or 4 but am also trying out carry recently.
Played a game today each with jug and LS. Life still feels pretty solid but jugg is weak and these two are mostly the only pos 1 heroes I've played.
What heroes are good this meta to improve my overall skill?
Got some crazy Slardar pos 1 winrate this patch. V good hero vs probably all melee heroes, if I see 2 melee offlane it's definitely insta-pick slardar. Hero is really fucking good early game, falls off after laning, this is where you need to get a bkb/dagger to be able to smash your opponents unobstructed, sometimes one of these is enough, depending on the lineup, but mostly both. And mid-lategame he picks up pace and becomes a realyl fucking scary carry. I also go echo as first big item and Aghs after bkb/dagger. After that it's up to you, rest is luxury/lineup dependant. I suggest SnY to increase that ridiculous status resistance it's also around the time where your bkb starts falling off in duration. Convince someone on your team to get a solar crest, you need it, but not necessarily wanna buy it, cause you need all the item slots you can get. And then it's definitely time for some AC (ideally someone else buys it as well), Heart (the HP and health regen amp makes you practically unkillable unless they have a good 30 seconds alone with you), Mjollnir, Moonshards.
Bad matchups include illusion heroes, ESPECIALLY naga. PL is tricky, but at level 25 you can get corrosive haze undispellable talent and just focus the right one, while staying in puddle, his illusions will deal 0 damage to you, they are super weak. CK deals only physical dmg and your puddle protects you, his illusions aren't that threatening if you have anyone on your team to figure out which hero is the real one fast enough. His bad matchups are drow and any ranged hero that has a multiple ways of dispel, through items or abilities.
Most importantly, he is extremely fun to play.
Slardar is always overlooked as a Pos 1, I suppose it's because at the ultra late game he's not as dangerous. But honestly, the damage he can do at 6 is huge. He can essentially end the game by lvl 10 if he starts to get on a roll. He has some many useful tools:
- minus armor
- Vision of heroes
- mobility
- bash
- tankiness
- damage
- Aoe stun
I wouldn't say he can end the game at level 10, but he's definitely scary if given the opportunity to pound on people. From my experience, he's definitely a lot more dangerous as a lategame carry than people give him credit. He can 1v1 any carry due to his reliable bash and crush, he just does 0 aoe so he cannot contribute too much to big teamfight lineups and against heavy control he feels very limited.
It's enough to have a willow/kotl support duo or anything similar to make him feel utterly useless. Pugna fucks him up so bad it's depressing, etc. So there's a big pool of heroes that make him really tricky to play, but likewise, there's a lot of heroes on your own team that can enable slardar to be a huge hitting machine (notably, Invoker/ Ogre Magi, with the alacrity, bloodlust and a plethora of disables)
Slark Void and Gyro are all very strong
I'd recommend Naga: improve your micro and learn to cut waves/force enemy movements. Not sure what your MMR is but you easily ruin team fights for your team if you misuse ult
pl is very good rn as a 4th or last pick
In pubs?
Wraith king, void, blood seeker, naga, ck.
Slark and Void
My go to safelane fellaz
Do guy have any recommendations for carry hero that are fun to play and learn and is not super complex like Invoker. I just started dota a week ago and have about 90 hours playing
Who do you think is the most flexible hero in dota. Like the one hero who could overcome any bad matchups as long you have the skills
That doesn’t really exist at least not in the way you’re thinking. Overcoming a bad matchup will likely fall more on your supports providing help and rotations to shift momentum and allow you to farm. If I had to answer your question, I guess big teamfight heroes like Enigma’s black hole, Magnus Reverse Polarity, or faceless void Chrono can provide that Hail Mary comeback story if everything is executed perfectly. A hero like Nature’s prophet can play rat Dota and turn a losing game into a winning one through sheer force of will. The thing about Dota is there are counters and then there are counters to counters and then counters to the counters to the counters. Much of it rests on timings and coordinated utilization of those timings with well executed plays under a net-positive vision/control of the map.
Dota goes through patches often enough that it rarely reaches a ‘solved’ state.
Wraith King!! 2 button hero
wraith king
90 hours in one week? Wow
Wraith king, does right click damage. Q let's you stun one person and kill. Vamp aura and skeletons naturally give you farm and having ult means death is more forgiving.
Juggernaut is another good one
It is Faceless Void imo, C’thulhu and time lord vibes hit hard
Monkey King when he gets third level on ult
Green mk is better
Tbh lvl3 ulti is the worst one
PA arcana is the best
especially with that burning head skin
Terrorblade with arcana (tb looks like shit without arcana lol)
I agree, i wish the gems for other colour options were also affordable XD
Also wish that the arcana shares color with the cache skin haha
I like TB anyway without arcana
I made mine look like a Decepticon
Its warcraft 3 vibes with me for void arcana, but yeah it looks amazing
Jugg will always be cool with or without arcana
The number of late games he comes back without even sweat is insane.. i swear any carry who see 3 core buyback would like to get back to safety without even weighing options.. but man this raddan late game is a monster
Yatoro is THE definition of a pos 1 carry imo. Can carry the game with amazing decision making with item choices and movement in the map. Also pushes limits of his hero and has a good sense of his timings
kept saying this when people were not accepting his impact, his decision making is SS+ tier. No other carry comes close to the decision making during teamfight, clutch or lategame moment. This guy was meant to be a champion.
Game one against Parivision was crazy. TS was 16k gold behind and Yatoro decided to chase from T3 to river was crazy. Their decision making is just crazy good.
Finals is gonna be lit.
Best Early Tempo Carry Vs Best Late Game Carry
i dont follow dota tournaments, who is the best early carry?
Slightly out of the loop on this patches tournaments, but I think it's Dyrachyo?
yes. Collapse is one of the most clutch late game player ever. Yatoro is a limit master yes but Spirit late game is a lot of Collapse
Game winning sunder on Yatoro in that final fight
Nightfall is a mechanically better player, but that's not enough to win.
In the right environment/team Nightfall could be on Yatoros level or better, he is still young and have time to figure it out.
Spirit as a team is the best late game team. * They've done this so many times
the meta changed with more gold funneled toward pos1 it suits spirit
Meanwhile last ti
“Raddan washed, bring yatoro back”.
Its a game of patches and up and downs, you can be the best now and look stupid next time.
Mine has to be julius. Ult blocks all damage and if broken, heals your teammates (2x for other progress heroes) and the shield with boosts is good. Love that lil kitty.
mushy.
build a line that can survive a while and overwhelm them with the clones.
for extra fun pair with faceless, for extra clony goodness
my fav line is astaroth, mushy, xesha, faceless, Aiden. its amazing how many lines it can take out in pvp
so youre saying for hydra, faceless + mushy is good? xd. Assuming she has good survivability. I can make her do common hydra but im slowly collecting for her hp skin
lines great at gold hydra too. :)
but its not just hydra, arena and wars too can be surprisingly effective
Peech she's one shot killer if paired with chaos team obviously
Well I do like iris, xe'sha 'cause they too are one shot killers if paired with good team and not to mention Octavia and Polaris the heroes who shaked the meta teams but still peech she's just perfect 😘
Lol true, i use her at 4 stars :p
Octavia. Changed the meta.
Oh yeah the dodge and eternity meta. My god i avoid that team with everything i can lmao
Without her kayla aiden would reign supreme, they kinda do anyways tho.
Kayla because if u got her built up she can go in and take a whole team out by herself
yeah pretty much, love her as dps
Iris. Iris kills. 😈
yeah she does. somehow more than satori in legends draft which is worrying LOL
I’ve been playing GOATdelius for a few weeks, and I don’t think I’ve ever felt this much like an ankle breaking god. If you play it right, you can just be untouchable as gem carrier. I can make crazy plays with repot and shadow realm, especially if I’m carrying enough for countdown. Even if I’m in a rough spot and am about to get jumped by the enemy team, I can just shadow realm someone who won’t be able to kill me immediately, then dip across the map with the speed boost, guaranteeing my safety for 8 seconds. Which is especially a lot when the countdown is active, cause it means that the enemy team has 7 seconds at most to stop me before we win. This fun guy has more outplay potential than anyone I’ve played before, and I love him.
Good luck winning lane against any actual gem carry tbh
Repot is Lily's gadget that is not Vanish (Vanish is shadow realm)
Same icon, I get em confused
Incorrect. I demand 10000 star drops taken from your account as compensation.
3rd member needs repossess to keep the gadget name scheme up, or something like that
Replant. It's Replant, not that other overglazed propagandized gadget.
The word GOATdelius made me think about a world championship Cordelius skin that holds a mushroom shaped crown
bro you play hard, not challenging at all, if u can clear primeval regularly with immortal unit then yeah its broken and ruin the game
No I do hell most time? I’m lvl 18, it’s just fun to play hard and practice layouts
so what do you mean by immortals are ruining the game?
Poor guy didn't get any mobs 💀
And at the beginning all I did was farm attack speed
Best Carry Hero in DOTA 2
Key Considerations for Choosing the Best Carry Hero in Dota 2:
Scaling Potential: Look for heroes that scale well into the late game, meaning they can become significantly stronger as they gain levels and items.
Item Dependency: Consider how reliant the hero is on specific items. Some carries need certain items to be effective, while others can be flexible.
Team Composition: Evaluate how the carry fits into your team's overall strategy. Some carries excel in specific team compositions or against certain enemy heroes.
Survivability: Heroes with built-in survivability (like escape mechanisms or tankiness) can be more effective in the late game.
Meta Trends: The effectiveness of carries can change with patches and updates, so it's important to stay updated on the current meta.
Top Carry Heroes (as of October 2023):
Terrorblade: Excellent late-game scaling with high damage output and the ability to push lanes effectively. His ultimate, Metamorphosis, allows him to deal significant damage.
Spectre: Known for her late-game potential and ability to survive in fights with her ultimate, Haunt. She can be a game-changer in team fights.
Phantom Assassin: High burst damage potential with her critical hits and the ability to evade attacks with Blur. She excels at picking off key targets.
Juggernaut: Versatile with good sustain through Healing Ward and can deal with physical damage effectively. He is also less item-dependent compared to other carries.
Medusa: A strong late-game hero with great scaling and the ability to deal with multiple enemies due to her Stone Gaze ability.
Recommendation: If you're looking for a reliable carry that can adapt to various situations, Terrorblade is a strong choice due to his versatility and power in the late game. However, if you prefer a more aggressive playstyle, Phantom Assassin can be very rewarding with the right positioning and timing. Always consider your team's needs and the enemy lineup when selecting your carry!
