Ghost Armor Unlocking
The Ghost Armor is a key part of the story in "Ghost of Tsushima" and is unlocked about two-thirds of the way through the game. It becomes available at the end of Act Two, so players do not need to worry about missing it as it is tied to the main quest [1:1]
[1:2]. This ensures that players will naturally acquire it as they progress through the storyline.
Gosaku Armor Quest
Another notable armor set, the Gosaku Armor, requires players to complete a specific side quest. This involves clearing six villages and saving three citizens in each to collect keys that unlock the armor [2:1]. The quest can be initiated by speaking to a musician located in the southern part of Akashima Village
[2:3]. Players can start collecting the keys soon after beginning Act Two and cannot miss this armor regardless of their progress in the game
[2:2]
[2:4].
Armor Combinations and Customization
Players enjoy experimenting with different armor and sword combinations for both aesthetic and functional purposes. For instance, some players prefer using the Samurai Clan helmet with Gosaku's Armor to avoid the hair style that comes with it [3:2]. Others have shared unique setups like the red Saurgami armor paired with a red dye sword and the Sacred Monkey Messenger from bamboo strikes
[3:3]. These combinations allow players to personalize their character’s appearance while exploring the island of Tsushima.
Recommended Armor Sets
For players who favor melee combat, the Gosaku Armor and Sakai Clan Armor are highly recommended due to their stats that support aggressive playstyles [5:1]. The Sakai Clan Armor is particularly favored for standoffs and defensive play, while the Ghost Armor is preferred for stealth and assassination tactics
[5:2]
[5:4]. Ultimately, players are encouraged to max out all armors and choose based on personal preference or desired aesthetics
[5:5].
Aesthetic Appeal of Armor
The game's armor sets, including those acquired later in the game like the Mongol Armor and modified Kensei Armor, have been praised for their visual appeal [4]. Many players find themselves more engaged with the customization options available, enhancing their overall gaming experience.
Vi I recently bought the game and I wanted to ask when/where do I unlock the ghost armor? I don’t want to look up on the internet because I’m afraid of spoilers but I’ve seen someone with a armor with the name ghost on Instagram once and I just want to ask. I just compleated the mission where I got caught by ryouzu and the khan rips of someone’s head ( not saying who because of spoilers)
Keep playing, it unlocks at the end of act two.
Oh ok so soon I’m guessing because do think about to storm the castle
Yep. All three variants are real nice looking too.

The ghost armor is unlocked about 2/3 of the way through the story. Its through a main quest so you don't have to worry about missing it at all. If you are looking for cosmetics I do recommend doing the side quests and looking for the samurai shrines.
Alright thanks for the tip, I’m unsure if I’ve found any shrines yet do you know how they look on the map ? It’s alright if you don’t I just won’t need to look at the map like an idiot lol
They look like a pillar with a sword leaned against it. There's quite a few throughout the game so you'll run into them by just exploring usually
bruh i swear the game didn't give it to me
Very soon
Just beat the game and doing random side quests when I heard about the armor. Cant find the quest anywhere tho. Did I miss it?
Getting the keys is already available soon after starting act 2, from what I remember.
It should be available unless the game has glitched. The musician that starts the quest is in the southern part of Akashima Village. Talking to a NPC about it should mark of on your map.
No you cant miss it no matter your game progress, try to look around for the musician to start the quest
Edit: I already have all 6 keys, just don’t have the quest and as I said before finished the campaign
The armor is earned by clearing 6 villages, saving 3 village citizens in each and receiving keys in order to open a door behind which the armor is located. It is in the southeastern part of the middle section of Tsushima.
I use all the armor in the game, while some like to wear what they consider "canonical" i like fashion. But i also like to be coordinated at the same time. So ill experiment with different combinations, and im pleased to say ive found a couple that i think are very effective.
For Gosaku's Armor if you don't like the hair you can instead use the Samurai Clan helmet (either one). Use the "Warrior's Bounty" with the blue "Ocean's Guardian" (yup, use the "yellow" clan dye with the blue Gosaku dye, but trust me, it works perfectly, the blue Gosaku dye uses a lot of yellow, and it just so happens to be that the places where the blue Gosaku dye uses yellow is exactly where the yellow Clan dye also uses it. You can also use the red "Sunrise Dominion" with the red "Season's of War" if you prefer red instead of blue.
The Hero of Tsushima armor is my favorite armor, but im not super into the sword kit that comes with it. Its not a bad kit at all, i just prefer it on other stuff. However i found a combination that feels so perfect that it had to be intentional. And thanks to some concept art i found, it was. Use the Mamushi Venom sword kit, its literally flawless.
Using Gosaku's Mask works super well with the Hero armor, so does the Clan helmet with the "Spring Lion" dye.
I swear i had another good one, i know i use the Adachi Half Mask on literally anything and everything if i want face armor but don't want to use a full mask, but that a pretty obvious thing.
>For Gosaku's Armor if you don't like the hair you can instead use the Samurai Clan helmet (either one).
This is exactly what I do! Not a fan of the hair.
That Mamushi Venom with Hero of Tsushima armor is an awesome find, I had no idea about that!
I found that the Iki raider helmet matches the monkey eye dyed Saurgami Armor perfectly, alongside the Warrior's Shadow sword kit, to make a great Clan Oga samurai:
I do this exact setup, but with the Kyoto Twilight headband instead
Mainly use straw hats and adjacents, but one I found recently is this one
Using the red Saurgami armour, the red dye sword, the Sacred Monkey Messenger from bamboo strikes and Sugi Kasa's Hat
I like to call this type of style the „Wu Kong“ lol
Headband of Strife with Tadayori’s Armor
Headbands or Helmets or hats,I would think helmets are better protection?
Here’s one I used on my most recent playthrough. I imagined that in Act 2 Jin wouldn’t be running around Tsushima in his father’s armor, instead I only wore it for main missions involving Yarikawa or Lord Shimura. During free roam I used the Traveler’s Attire with a black headband (sorry I forgot its name) and the Thief’s Wrap. At that point in the story Jin’s already become the Ghost but obviously doesn’t have the armor yet, so I figured something akin to a wandering ninja would work.
Alternatively, if you’re in NG+ and already did the Iki DLC on a previous run, you can use the young Jin outfit. Pretty simple but fits quite well.
I usually don’t worry about what I look like in most games i play, but ghost of Tsushima has really changed my mindset on such things. Especially the armor of the mongols you get way later in the game. I would say it’s the best armor set in the game so far. I still have the island of iki to do so I’ll see if that changes for me. The mongol armor is just too good!
Edit: I changed my mind. It’s the modified kensei armor set you get from the shrines on iki island.
This is one of the only 2 games I’ve played but I’m totally mesmerized. Beautiful game!
Absolutely. Couldn’t agree more.
So Ik this may be asked a lot but I’m curious myself about it, so I’ve done about 16 hrs of the game and my main play style basically consists of charge in swinging, or a stand-off if I get the option to, but I’m split between the gosaku armour(which I’ve just unlocked), the Sakai clan armour and the clan armour, since they all seem to have good stats fore melee fights. My clan armour is lvl 3 (which I’ve been using even since I’ve gotten it) so I’m not sure if I should max it out but since I just got the two other armours I can already upgrade them to the same lvl. Any recommendations for the three?
I usually run the Sakai Clan armour if I want to play as Samurai and if as Shinobi, I wear the Ghost armor.
Sakai an ghost. I like the all black ronin too. I play more stealth and assassin but I can't resist a duel in the storm either.
Sakai if you like standoffs and playing a little more defensively, gosaku with stagger/bludgeoning if you like being aggressive.
It'll be pretty easy to max all armors out. And you end up being powerful enough where I wouldn't really worry about which is "best". Just choose one you think looks cool or feel free to rotate what your wear
I’ve been replaying the game recently and have found the clan armour pretty under rated. Gosaku and Sakai are good for a hack and slash approach. The clan armour’s resolve returns at first give you some extra leeway with health. But once you get more confident with swordplay, you can burn off that extra resolve with plenty of heavenly strikes and three strike specials.
Samurai Clan Armor and Ronin Attire: Given by Masako and Ryuzo respectively in Chapter 1. Samurai is a practice of Samurai Combat. Ronin is a practice of Stealth Combat.
Masako was loyal to the end, symbolizing honorable samurai Ryuzo will betray you, symbolizing dishonorable tactics
Gosaku and Kensei armors: Both unlocked via a chapter 2 mythical tales and you must fight at 6 places to unlock them Gosaku was a protector, like a samurai Kojiro was a butcher, like an assassin
Sakai Clan and Ghost armor: Both symbolizes Jin Sakai paths as a warrior. Both have terror perks and the Sakai Logo. Both unlocked in Chapter 2 Sakai Clan was literally Jin’s father’s. Jin was destined to wear this armor (at Komoda too but didn’t) Ghost Armor is the embodiment of the Ghost. It literally represents the title, the plot and the promotion art of the game
Sucker Punch did really well at showing Samurai and Ghost tactics with Armors
Wait theres a dark green samurai Armor in the Game?
I think it’s just the default colouring
The default coloring has blue cloth underneath though no?
I think this one is the default but there is also a darker green one
Sarugami represents players fooling around
OP AF. 🤣
Its a decent all-rounder for most players, yes, but you eventually reach a point where its better to run Ghost/Sakai (why wait to block when you can deal with 5-7 in a single standoff? Why wait to dodge when you can make half the camp flee while the other half choke?)
Even in duels I find Gosaku's set up to break block and knock down performs better
Just a bit of monkey business
God I love the gosaku armour
I never actually noticed that. Whether or not this was intended or just a fun coincidence, super cool
I see the Phantom's armor as a fusion between the Sakai Clan's armor and the Do Ryuzo's.
I was chillaxin in golden temple when I heard these 2 fellas talking about some armour that would help the samurai. Nothing got marked on my map, is there something that I do to start some quest? Or somethin. Thanks :)

They are talking about Gosaku armor.
If you're in Act 1, they're probably referring to Tadayori armor, a unique set specifically aimed (pun intended) for an archer.
Find story teller Yamato near the Rustling Bend in the first region (Izuhara), northwest of Logging Base camp. Listen to his story and you can start the questline for Tadayori armor.
It's the best armor for an archer build, but you need the right charms for it. If you're looking for a great early game armor that could last through the entire game, use Ronin attire; great for melee combat and stealth.
just started a playthrough. i love maximizing my drip in games like this. are there hidden cosmetic pieces to find? or does it all come through progression?
if so, should i just be scouring the map? i’m fine with mild spoilers around this specific question.
also. i’m curious about dyes. can i unlock more? seems to only be a few for each attire.
I haven’t played far into the game yet either but there is I guess “hidden” shrines that you pray to that give you sword kits and haikus you find give you headbands, they do show up on the map but you do have to find them. There are a few scattered things you can randomly find, usually from the birds showing you, ex. Blue headband at ishikawas dojo.
The golden bird will lead you to most if not all of them. I can’t remember. And dyes do expand a bit but there aren’t dyes for all armor types in all colors. I was a tad bummed about that.
You can also use wind of vanity. Push the right arrow (on the controller) while the map is up and find it on the list.
If you see a Blue/Mythic Tale icon on the map, do those.
There's a ton of hidden cosmetics around the map, and more dyes at certain "hidden" vendors. Honestly one of the best things about this game is exploring the map and finding things you didn't know were there.
The biggest mistake that cost me a lot of time was not using the traveler's attire the entire time. This is the games biggest flaw. If you want to collect everything, you're basically stuck using only that armor due to the vibration when next to a collectible. There are a lot of them and at least 1 in any location you head to(like 1 in a town or forest or cemetery etc. There's always a collectible nearby.) Every Mongol campsite has 1 artifact usually visible in the open. Banners are all over the place and you literally need to swim in the ocean to small islands for some banners. Records are mostly in houses and there can be anywhere from 1-3 in 1 town. You need to progress far into the story in order to get access to certain collections. Such as haiku and duels. The singing crickets are the easiest to collect, they are always at a cemetery. Always fast travel if you're unsure about a line on the map that's long when tracking with the wind for a collectable. Otherwise you might travel a mile but the collectible is actually next to a town. You'll know what I mean once you figure it out.
If you see an npc with a the chat icon, always talk to them. You'll get the side mission location for your map. It takes a while to get them all so it's worth talking for a few seconds.
If anyone has any questions feel free to ask. Not bragging or anything, just hope I can help others if someone is stuck.
Here is the link to the dye called Ghost transcendent for the ghost armor set. Pretty badass. http://imgur.com/gallery/1GaeJSr
Hey lilpav, great tips and thanks for sharing that ghost skin, looks awesome! Are you maybe able to share some gameplay of you using that outfit? I would to highlight it in a future video on my channel JorRaptor and give you ofc proper credits. Thanks!
Hey man! I finished all my side tales but ain’t getting my trophy for finishing all the tales :(
There was a mission I couldn't find for the longest. It's probably this one because it's very difficult to come across. https://www.powerpyx.com/ghost-of-tsushima-the-cost-of-fear-walkthrough/
Well, I just got all the banners and records already had the artifacts.
Still didnt unlock for me. The only thing I can guess is that I either need to buy all the dyes I'm missing or I need that day 1 patch, I'm running on version 1.0.
Strongly disagree. The records, artifacts, and crickets are the only things the Traveler's Attire picks up but for the Platinum you only need 20/20/5 respectively so you don't need to go out of your way to search for them. Also after you clear a region the whole map is cleared so all the collectibles that you need 100% of will be marked.
Wait, what do you mean by "clear a region"? Also, collectables are marked on your map once you "clear a region"?
Liberate it. When you get all the enemy outposts any leftover fog of war for that region all clears.
They get marked as Question Marks. Once you clear all mongol territories
Edit: I mean collectibles that matter. Fox dens, hot springs, etc. You only need 20 records and artifacts & 5 cricket so those don't need to be marked anyways.
No.. Banners don't get marked, records don't get marked, collectibles don't get marked. Only stuff like the fox dens haikus etc will be marked when you clear the enemy camps in a region. The traveler attire can scan those collectibles so I'm not sure what you're talking about. Also I never said you need to collect them all, I said IF you wanted to.
Thank you for this. I am taking my time as I don’t want to finish the game anytime soon, but this is valuable information.
Got it a day early and still in Act 1! So much shit to do. Love how almost every main mission opens up a huge sequence of side quests.
I'm a little confused about how to get the armor dye. Do you need to just platinum the game? Or do you HAVE to get ALL collectables? B/c I just got my platinum, but I dont have all the banners or records since they're not required for the trophy.
I mean take Cooper Clan Cosplayer for example. There’s no way to earn that trophy unless you knew the exact combination. The chances of randomly wearing things to get it are really really low. Does someone from the game internal team leak the details of how to get such trophies?
You can reveal hidden trophies in the trophy section on PS5 anyways. Think you can on PS4 as well
Apparently, this is a thing -
https://pokde.net/blog/this-secret-ps4-tip-lets-you-see-hidden-trophies-achievements
i just look at the hidden trophy and press square... then it tells you.
Every type of gamer exists now. I have never hunted a platinum trophy till this game happened to my life.
I never joined a game community till this game. There are still things being discovered in gta5
In most gaming communties there are people who dedicate all the time they have to any secret or challenge . In this case they probably unlocked every armour / weapon and mask/ headband helmet and wore every combo until it was done
