TL;DR
Affordable Options
For those looking for cost-effective solutions, the Ikea Detolf glass-door cabinet is frequently recommended. It is known for being a standard choice among collectors due to its affordability and simplicity [2:2]
[2:3]. The Detolf provides ample space for various figures and is praised for its minimalistic design that allows for easy viewing of the collection.
High-Quality Retail Style Cases
If budget isn't a concern, custom cases or retail-style display units from websites like Displays2Go are suggested. These cases often come with features such as LED lighting, adjustable shelves, and secure locks, making them ideal for showcasing high-value collections [2:1]
[5:1]. However, they may involve additional costs for freight and home delivery, which could be prohibitive for some buyers
[5:1].
Custom and Specialized Options
For unique or larger items, such as a Batmobile from the animated series, wider and more specialized display cases might be necessary. Custom cases can be designed to meet specific dimensions and aesthetic preferences, ensuring no obstruction of view [5]. Additionally, brands like Moducase offer modular solutions that can be adapted to fit different spaces and collections
[4:2].
Alternative Brands and DIY Solutions
Other brands mentioned include Cooltaku, which offers various display options on platforms like Amazon [1:2]. For those interested in DIY solutions, garage shelves or modified Ikea units like Billy or Kallax can be customized for double-wide displays
[4:2]. These alternatives provide flexibility for collectors who enjoy personalizing their display setups.
Overall, the choice of display case will depend on budget, space, and the specific requirements of the collection. Whether opting for a simple Detolf or investing in a custom-built solution, there are numerous options available to suit different needs and preferences.
Hey I’m looking for a display case for my figures. I wanna put them in an epic fight scene. Which one would be best. Not too expensive.
How big are the figures and background?
There are brands on Amazon like cooltaku.
There are others

I'm looking for something simple but high-quality, and hopefully doesn't have a lot of dust issues or any dust at all if possible. I'm looking to collect Gundam, Kamen Rider S.H.F, and DBZ S.H.F figures, so I really need a high-quality display case. Cost isn't an issue. Thank you in advance!
If you have a store near you the Ikea Detolf ($60USD) is the standard for display cases.
Thank you so much!
Detolf (or their bigger case of the same kind) are going to be your most affordable option, too
If cost isn't an issue get a custom case. Otherwise you're going to spend days searching online for all types of display cabinets and not even find one you like. (Like I did)
There are also the big cases stores use for displays: https://i.imgur.com/v6Emwr6.jpeg
Lighting, adjustable shelves, storage space, etc.
Where can I get that one or a custom case? (Unless it's a custom case)
Im looking for a display case to display some of my hot toys figures, Funkos, popcorn buckets, etc… does anyone have this display case? Do you think it’s good? Even if you don’t have it I would still like opinions. Thanks a lot!
Looks like it's the BROTTAR cabinet with a different brand name slapped on it. Very good cases: https://www.reddit.com/r/hottoys/s/8YcRnqGUKP
These are great starter cases!

I have this one. This display case is around with different brand names on it. I love it and it currently has all of my MCU characters in it.
i want to get a good display case to grow my collection but i don’t know where to look, does anyone have any recommendations?
Where are you from / what are you looking?
There’s either DIY Garage shelves, IKEA Blalidens or Moducases imo. I have the last two if you want reference pics
There is also the likes of IKEA Billy’s / Kallax than you can make mess with to make them double wide etc

I use these
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D95N5V1B?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1
They should be able to fit most standard 1/6th size figures (12" tall) and can fit two sometimes (like I have my Elena and Natasha from Black Widow in one). They are stackable and can be put on a table or anywhere really. You can also store all of the accessories in them as well. I like these because I also collect auto pops as well and these can fit 8 standard size pops in them.
They also take no time to put together.
Any suggestions for a display case. I have some Detolfs for my hot toys but I'm looking for one that's wider because I would like to display my Batmobile from the animated series. I want it to be mostly glass but I don't mind if the sides are wood or something. But I want the front to be pretty much all glass. I dont want there to be really any wood or anything blocking and of the view.
Any suggestions? Thanks
I'm in the market myself. I really like some of the units at displays2go.com but they assume they're dealing with retail, so you'll be paying freight and extra charges for a home delivery. If money's an issue for you, that will probably turn you off.
Still, I'm tempted because I just haven't found anything comparable. If you don't mind a frame, this is on sale https://www.displays2go.com/P-33986/LED-Illuminated-Display-Cabinet-4-Tempered-Glass-Shelves?st=Sale though this is the one I've been considering. Some of their stock is listed on amazon too.
Otherwise, you might look around at curio displays. Walmart.com, wayfair.com, overstock.com seem to be places to look. My major issue is I absolutely hate the mirrored backs on these and it seems like 99.9% of them are made that way.
Yea those are cool but I dont want to spend that much. I agree though I dont typically like the mirrored back either
I see Detolf listed by many. Is that the best?
It depends how many figures you have. I have 3 Detolfs that I use for statues and my replica Star Wars and Cobra Commander helmets. I don’t like them for action figures though. It’s hard to get more than a few on each shelf without making the display look crowded and too cluttered. Especially true for 6” figures.
I have probably a few hundred Star Wars and G.I. Joe action figures and for figure displays I just use simple basic 5-shelf bookcases. You can get them all day long at Target, Walmart, etc for $30-$50. If you want better quality IKEA’s Billy Bookshelf are pretty nice. It comes in a lot of options and they range from around $60-$100+.
Agreed with the black bookshelves. Acrylic risers help with visibility on those, with figure stands for stability, and optional lighting as you see fit and you've got a fantastic display. The only downside to using the risers is it limits your flexibility when it comes to oversized figures.
The problem that I have with non-enclosed cases is just that; they aren't enclosed. I have a similarly-sized collection and finally ended up switching from open shelving to Detolfs after picking up a figure off the floor for the thousandth time. With risers, you can basically have two or three tiers of figures in each 'cube'. More than 12 is when it starts to get a little crowded but that means you can get 200+ figures in four Detolfs, especially if you're using the tops of the cases as well.
The other thing is the lightning. Detolfs allow you to see every angle of a figure all day long. With standard shelving, it's going to block natural light from multiple directions. It's all about preference though and there's a run on those shelves atm. Hopefully we start to see them state-side again soon at their normal price.
For the price, availability and size the detolf is a very solid option I have one and like it a lot. I can’t attest to it being the best but I like it a lot
I agree wholeheartedly. It's not the overall best option, but it's absolutely the best at that price point
I use Milsbo from Ikea. They store a lot more.
Detolf from ikea.
Detolf with Luke lighting or dyi is the best, def add risers and logos
I just started collecting Hot Toys & I'm searching for the best Display case for myself.
I'm looking for a single door Display case with Lights.
Would appreciate any recommendations Thanks.
I have a blaliden from IKEA and if you’re planning on displaying one or two smaller figures per space then it’s perfect. It doesn’t come with lights but you can install your own and it’s super easy. I followed this video and he made the setup instructions super easy Blaliden lighting setup. I didn’t use the same lights as him though, I used these which I found are also great. I bought the black case so I wanted lights in a black shell
For starting out, you can find some detolfs on Facebook marketplace and other second-hand sites for pretty cheap or a lot of people say IKEA Billy book cases or Blaliden. Long run, I would've said get moducases like a year or two ago, but I've heard they take even longer to ship now(average back then was about a year).
Not true, at least not with me. I had a large order (multiple DF120 and 60s) and it came in 10 months. I got it end of last year.
I use the deep billy bookcases with their glass doors. Works perfect for my needs
Single door is going to limit your options, but the old tried and true is the Ikea Detolf. They were discontinued, but I still see them posted on Craigslist and Facebook with pretty high frequency around me, usually for pretty cheap.
Otherwise Ikea's replacement to that, the Blaliden is a decent alternative.
Forgot the single door.
Can't really beat the BROTTAR on Amazon for price/quality. The doors are fully glass, so no ugly wooden strip running down the middle of the display. Built in lights. Plenty of room. I moved my figures from the Billy bookcases into these.
Hey, I’m looking for some information on the best way to find or quality check enclosed cases for some very nice. 1/4 scale figures that I’m receiving soon I want to be able to put them in nice display boxes, but I’m not exactly sure where to look I’m looking specifically for UV reflecting glass boxes that are temperature controlled to keep these figures as pristine as possible.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can start looking?
You might need cases that can cover 20 inches or more to fit 1/4 scale figures. Take my advice with a grain of salt, I might not know what I am talking about.
Can try https://www.moduspace.sg/ (also known as Moducase). Not temperature controlled but essentially dust proof. They have a variety of sizes to accommodate large scale figures, including 1/4.
I appreciate the link! Do you know if they are UV protection coated?
Sorry, I'm not aware of them claiming their cases offer UV protection.
I’m new to collecting and heard from a friend that the Ikea Detolf cases were a good option. With those unfortunately being discontinued (I don’t understand why when they’re so popular) and the “replacement” they have for it being a little too small, what are the best cases to go with nowadays?
I’d like something big enough to fit a couple 1/4 figures without being obnoxiously large, I don’t have many figures yet but I’d like to have something I can use over time as I grow my collection.
Billy bookcases from Ikea with some doors of your choice are the best display cases considering cost, display space, availability, aesthetics and stability imo.
Might sound stupid but how does one add glass doors to the Billy bookcases? Any guides (new collector here)
"Best" usually also means expensive when it comes to display cases. Ikea's Detolf cases were popular because they were relatively cheap and didn't look bad, but they were also known to be somewhat fragile and couldn't carry a lot of weight. If you really want a sturdy high-quality case, it's going to cost you quite a bit.
Some people are really into moducases but they are made-to-order and take ages to ship. It can easily take 8 months for your order to arrive. Looks great though.
Personally I went with a cabinet from Siletsy, who mainly produce cabinets for stores and events but also frequently sell to collectors. They only deliver to locations in the Netherlands and Belgium though. Perhaps you should see if you've got a company near you that does something similar.
Wow Siletsy looked nice but so expensive!
Mine cost me about 1500 euros. But it looks great, has integrated smart RGB LED strips, uses thick 5mm tempered glass, and is very sturdy. I don't regret buying it one bit.
Spending money on a good high-quality case is definitely worth the money, especially when you consider that the figures you put into them are worth much, much more than what the case will cost you. Hell, I have three figures that in total are worth about as much as the cabinet itself. Personally I feel like putting hundreds of dollars worth of figures in a $80 case is just silly.
Thanks for the response! I’ll look into local brands and see what ’s available. I’m currently looking more for entry-level cases like the Detolf but I don’t mind shelling out more if it means a better product.
I got two milsbo and one regissor from IKEA, milsbo looks slightly better but regissor holds a lot more figures and it is more sturdy.
I personally like the Fabrikor display case at Ikea. It’s a little more pricy at the $160 price point but it has more space per level, you can adjust the height of the shelves to fit any height figure, and it’s a sturdy good quality case that is actually aesthetically pleasing. Ian able to fit just as much in the case as I could fit in a Detolf which is nice.
Here’s what mine looks like so you can see how many figures can reasonably fit on each level.
Ooh that looks great! I spot the Taiga figures! 👀 I’ll definitely look into this case because it seems to fit the bigger figures just fine
I bought a LFT HUIME12Y. Their on Amazon and way better quality then Ikea ones. About twice the price.
This one actually looks great! Definitely pricier but very nice
The build process was simple enough, thanks to some seriously easy and clear instructions, though the doors were kind of a bear to install. Otherwise, I’m seriously happy with it! The lights are motion sensitive and have different colors, and it was able to fit most of my collection in it, with a few larger stragglers not able to squeeze in, sadly. But, this should keep my stuff mostly dust free (gotta dust some of them here soon anyhow), and it frees up space in my room to be a lot more organized!
And, forgive the doors, they are an absolute nightmare to polish, and I need to find a good solution to prevent smearing.
What case is it, and where did you pick it up? Looks great!
It’s from Brottar! I ordered it off of Amazon.
Nice starscream and TLK Megatron!
Thank you! I had to find some way to squeeze them in there lol, but they’re definitely the “definitive” figures of either version imo.
Looks awesome, might have to get a ghidorah now 😓
You wouldn’t regret it if you did, it’d be a lovely figure to have in your set up :).
Dam is that TLK megatron??
It is!! :)
EPIC BRO!!!

Key Considerations for Action Figure Display Cases:
Material: Look for cases made from durable materials like acrylic or glass. Acrylic is lightweight and shatter-resistant, while glass offers a premium look.
Size and Capacity: Ensure the case can accommodate your action figures' height and width. Consider how many figures you want to display and choose a case that fits your collection.
Ventilation: Some cases come with ventilation holes to prevent moisture buildup, which can be important for preserving the condition of your figures.
Lighting: LED lighting options can enhance the display and make your figures stand out. Look for cases with built-in lighting or the ability to add your own.
Accessibility: Consider how easy it is to access your figures. Some cases have sliding doors or removable shelves for easier handling.
Design: Choose a design that complements your decor and showcases your figures effectively. Clear cases allow for unobstructed views, while themed cases can add character.
Recommendations:
Detolf Glass Display Cabinet (IKEA): A popular choice for collectors, this cabinet is affordable, has glass sides for visibility, and provides ample space for multiple figures.
