Finding the best air cooler for large rooms involves considering factors such as cooling capacity, room size, and humidity levels. Here are some insights and recommendations based on user discussions:
Cooling Capacity and Room Size
When choosing an air cooler for a large room, it's important to consider the unit's cooling capacity. Desert coolers are often recommended for larger spaces due to their ability to circulate air effectively [4:8]. These coolers work well in dry climates and can significantly lower the temperature in large areas.
Humidity Considerations
Air coolers are typically more effective in dry climates. In humid conditions, their efficiency can decrease, as they rely on evaporative cooling. If you live in a humid area, it might be worth considering whether an air cooler will meet your needs or if an alternative cooling solution, like an air conditioner, is more appropriate [4:5].
Mini Coolers vs. Larger Units
While mini coolers can be convenient, they are generally not suitable for large rooms. They may not provide sufficient cooling power and often require frequent refilling of water [4:3]. For larger rooms, investing in a full-sized air cooler with a higher water capacity and airflow rate is advisable.
Additional Tips for Keeping Cool
Aside from using an air cooler, there are other methods to keep your room cool. Installing an exhaust fan can help remove hot air, while keeping windows open during cooler parts of the day can bring fresh air into the room [4:1]. Additionally, wearing damp clothing or using misting fans can provide temporary relief from the heat
[4:1].
Conclusion
For large rooms, desert coolers are often the most recommended option due to their effectiveness in circulating air and lowering temperatures in spacious areas. However, their performance can be limited in humid environments. It's important to assess your specific climate conditions and room size when selecting an air cooler.
Engines deserve fresh smelling air as well.
If this weeeeeere to work. Maybe in the cabin air filter?
I think there was a post on here about someone spraying some air freshener into their cabin air filter and it made their windows fog up since I think the filter was still damp
Theres this stuff called frigi-fresh u can spray on cabin filters for smellgood
Just hang the freshener like a normal person
Dude hangs dong air fresheners
Instructions unclear, air freshener installed in cylinder head.
One of the luxury brands literally has like scent canisters that are stored under the dash near the glovebox and get atomized into the air after the cabin air filter. I think it's on the Audi RSQ8.
For cleaning the ducts you have special solutions you have to spray an entire bottle of into the cabin filter. Then put your windows down for 10 minutes on full blast.
Works like a charm but applying the solution is awful as in you cough your lungs out.
That's also my bathroom photo finish experience.

I can’t swim…
That's a pretty significant flaw in your plan.
And y’know, mon mothma, which was just an absolute gorgeous piece of casting
Pretty solid haul for a show that didn’t have a ton of crossover appeal in the mainstream and was going up against the phenomenon that is The Pitt (which is another outstanding show, hard to be upset about any award Andor lost to it).
Won. Way. Out!
Maybe a hot take, but I don't really like live-action Ahsoka. I feel like she gets duller as a character the more we get from her in the live action.
I honestly think she peaked in The Clone Wars Mandalore Arc and Tales of the Jedi and it's been downhill ever since.
Agree, I would’ve only been disappointed if Andor walked away with 0 wins during the main show since I think it deserves at least some recognition. Otherwise all the winners were absolutely deserved. The Pitt came out of nowhere and stole the year, I’m happy that Noah Wyle essentially got a lifetime achievement award and won for the show he helped write & produce.

I’m not disparaging Star Wars. Ive been a fan for essentially my entire life, so I know the average quality of the franchise and how great of an exception Andor is. I also know what these industry organizations tend to nominate, and it’s usually not installments in long running franchises like Star Wars. I like the MCU too, but I don’t expect any of those movies or shows to win awards outside of a tech category here and there let alone awards for writing. All I meant was to celebrate Andor as an achievement, and hope Lucasfilm allows skilled creatives play in the universe with similar freedom to what Gilroy & co got to do with this show.
We are like the r/howardstern subreddit
If you asked me 5 years ago if a show about Cassian Andor was a good idea, I would've laughed at you. If you told me that it would one day be my favorite out of all star wars shows I'd be rolling on the floor laughing and think you needed a psychiatrist.
Well here I am, firmly claiming that a show about Cassian fucking Andor is up there with the best shows of all time such as the Wire, Breaking Bad, and Deadwood. It's unreal, and I love it.
Bro we're unlucky to have a disgraceful enemy, see their comments on social media, they make fun of our Shaheeds, they mock our flood victims and what not. Whatever the commenter has said here is nothing as compared to what our Indian friends utter.

Some indian modichod has posted planes from 1971. If only we had wreckage from Rafaels to actually shut the propaganda machinery of these freaks….!
1971 was a special case. India exploited Pakistani internal failures and pass that off as a victory lol. Yes, made advances in an isolated East Pakistan, but did fuck all in the west. Their media and Bollywood make it seem it was something else, when they got extremely lucky. Explains why their Air Force gets bitch slapped each engagement.
There’s your answer. ‘’A Professional Air Force’’
Oh boy... Is there a sardar joke in here somewhere? 😅

Squadron Leader Brijpal Singh Sikand, who remained in Pakistani custody till January 1966, rose to become Air Marshal and retired from the IAF in October 1986, having earned an Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 1978 and a Param Vishisht Seva Medal in 1987.
Udhar khotay ghoray ko be medal mil jata hai.
India claims that he didnt surrender but actually landed in the wrong airfield, right so best case scenario he wasnt a coward just incredibly stupid, you know theres this thing called radio contact which you can, and get this right, crazy thing but, you can actually get ready to be mindblown use that to see if the airfield is yours, how crazy is THATT?? No wonder india is ranked lower internationally than pakistan in average IQ
Even pakistan claims that they’ve won all wars against india. Lmao
that we won
Ok i think i'll start with my not so good tips –
I've tried the mini cooler.. it's not very helpful honestly. Especially if it's a large room. It will also not last the entire night with the water. So unless you can have it right in front of your face, would not recommend wasting your money..
Ok thanks for letting me know yaar, much appreciated.
Maybe I'll consider a normal size cooler this time.
Ye konse mist wale cooler h bhai link to de yr🥲
Aise types me yaar, alag alag companies aur range mein – Amazon Link
Type C, toh phone ke charger se hi chal bhi jayega : )
did not have an ac/cooler last summer. Eating spicy food or till stomach full would instantly cause me to start sweating. I lowered my intake, morning was only salad, especially cucumber, kakdi etc. (the ones that keep you cool, you get the idea), did not make much adjustment for lunch except for having less spices and oily stuff, and usually skipped night or ate very light.
Would def recommend getting an ac/cooler, that can't be substituted. Remember, whenever you have to go out for some reason, don't overeat before that, that was the tip i followed and it helped me decrease my sweating atleast.
All amazing tips bro thanks yaar.
AC toh nahi but I'm considering cooler, but wondering if it'll work in humid months
I live on the top floor (4th) and haven't even installed the fans yet, it's been 3 days since I've come from home..
Exactly I rented 5 Star Daikin 1.5 Split Last year I got maximum ₹5500
those fkin desert coolers always work
Ek mini fridge mil jayegi?
Jitne ka cooler hoga utna tip de dena bro🙏
The Red Arrows used them up till 1980.
This was also the aircraft used by THE NAVY in Hot Shots!
saionara, sadam!
Story please.
cuz of engine trouble near Lahore, instead of ejecting, he made a forced landing on a Pakistani airstrip and was captured. Sikand spent time as a POW but later returned, had a full career, and retired as an Air Marshal.
Thank you!
That doesn't sound like he surrendered mid air?
??
Engine trouble followed by a landing suddenly becomes the same as "surrendering mid-air"? What the heck does that term even mean? Nonsensical caption.
Calling in that he was surrendering and landing on their airfield.
Are you indian perchance?
Nah I bet he just landed on an enemy base without contacting them ahead of time and by the powers of deduction they knew now to shoot him down
For the full story:
On 3 September 1965, the skies over Pasrur witnessed one of the most remarkable episodes of the Indo-Pak aerial conflict. Squadron Leader Brijpal Singh Sikand of Indian Air Force, while flying a Folland Gnat, came face-to-face with a Pakistan Air Force F-104 Starfighter, piloted by Flight Lieutenant Hakimullah; a young officer who would one day rise to become Chief of the Air Staff. At approximately 1105 hours, the Starfighter engaged with such overwhelming dominance that Sikand, deprived of options, was compelled to surrender in mid-air. In an unprecedented act, he landed his Gnat intact at Pasrur airfield, effectively handing over both himself and his aircraft to Pakistan. Captured as a Prisoner of War, Sqn Ldr Sikand remained in custody until January 1966, when he was released by the Government of Pakistan as a goodwill gesture. Following his return to India, he continued to serve with IAF ultimately attaining the rank of Air Marshal before retiring in October 1986.
The captured Gnat was test-flown by Flight Lieutenant Saad Hatmi, a PAF officer with prior experience on Gnats in the UK, before being moved to Sargodha for detailed evaluation. Preserved thereafter as a prized War Trophy, the aircraft now rests at PAF Museum, Karachi, a powerful symbol of that extraordinary moment and an enduring reminder of the dramatic surrender of 1965.
Hey guys! So when I sleep I like to have a breeze in my room as well as a little bit of noise, don't know why it just helps me sleep. I'm looking for a either a tower or a desk fan for this purpose. My desk is the foot of my bed so I could put one on there facing me, or a tower works fine for the middle of my room. Preferably under $100 and something I can order on Amazon, and one that doesn't make TOO much noise. (I'm using the Amazon basics one right now and the second setting is loud, but not enough to keep me awake at night, airflow is alright too but it's getting old.)
I was looking at the vornado brand because a lot of people prefered it but was unsure because there are so many types and brands of fans lol. Any help is appreciated thank you!
The Wurzee 52 inch is incredible. The bang for your buck will satisfy you within the first week haha! Had this fan for almost a year now and not a single scratch on it.
I really like Vornado fans. Quiet and efficient but can move some serious air if you need it.
Agreed. I have a Vornado as well as a Dyson ‘tower’ and the Vornado is much quieter.
The Dyson tower is great as a space heater in the winter, but I prefer the Vornado for cooling in the summer.
The Vornado is definitely better. It can make an even cooling with it's circulating air. This post https://www.reddit.com/r/Reviews/comments/1cm6hko/new_fan_for_the_summer/ have more opinions
Specifically the DC variable speed ones. Exactly what I use beside my bed and in my offices. 133 and 533 models. They're absolutely fantastic and sip energy, especially the 133.
This this this. The DC means you can adjust to exactly the speed/sound level you want. The smaller one will easily move the air in a normal bedroom.
ETA- just looked it up- I use the 633 on the floor and think it’s small. There is also the 133 specifically desk top. Who knew?
Vornado circle fan. I believe its about 50. Ive used it for 4 year in college. Great power and also great white noise. Im pretty sure ive had the fan running for DAYS at a time and its still working fine. BTW, here's the Amazon List of Tower Fans Recommended by other Reddit Members here.
The Vornado 660 AE Large Air Circulator, with its built-in Alexa compatibility, impresses not just with its smart features but also because it's the most powerful room circulator I've ever used.
It's quieter and uses less energy compared to other models I've had, yet it still generates a strong breeze that I can feel from over 20 feet away—without even needing to switch on the almost-too-powerful turbo mode.
While the onboard controls can be a bit tricky, I found myself frequently using the built-in voice commands instead. I'd recommend this model to anyone who, like me, prefers the convenience of voice or phone control, perhaps for mobility reasons.
Check vornado fans they are actually good. Also check this thread for more opinions

What is that?
In Korea they think that if you sleep in a room that has an electric fan running it'll kill you. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fan_death
I just moved into a 2 bedroom unit. The bedroom I currently use for my office is decently sized, 250 sq ft. Unfortunately, the place has no central heat. I have a 500-1500W oil heater, but it is inefficient for such a large room.

Is there a better type of heater I can look into for such a large space? I'd be sitting stationary at my desk working, so would an electric one with an actual fan blowing directly at me be better? Any pros and cons of this one (sucks more power, etc.) ?

Thanks
Your wall outlet likely can’t handle more wattage than you already have, and as another poster pointed out all electric heaters basically have the same efficiency since they do no work and turn electricity in heat. That said, If you are sitting you should consider one of those parabolic heaters that focuses the heat on your rather than a diffuse, Ambient heater.
I recommend an oil filled electric radiator with multiple power settings. They are less of a fire hazard, and can be set on a lower power setting, say 500 watts instead of 1000 watts and still be effective.
All electric heaters are similarly efficient: they turn 100% of the electricity into heat. The bad news is that electricity is a very expensive fuel to heat with.
Your best bet for saving money is to keep the room as cool as you can tolerate and keep yourself warm. Electric blankets are great for this. Because they heat your body directly, they use a very small amount of electricity to warm you.
Dress in layers. Warm clothes work for free.
For your heater, you want a heater with a thermostat and a fan. The thermostat ensures that the heater only goes on when you want it to and you don't need to remember to turn it on and off.
The fan helps circulate the warm air. Without a fan, the heat goes directly to the ceiling and stays there. The fan can be separate from the heater itself.
We have to use an oil/electric space heater and small fan to supplement our crappy home heating during the winter. It works pretty well.
I would also add - throw some of that plastic insulation wrap over your windows (the kind you blow dry to shrink fit - I use Duck brand). You'd be amazed at how much cold air is getting in.
Also, if you have a ceiling fan, make sure to turn it clockwise, so it blows the warm air back down (there should be a button or switch on the unit).
Another option if they must have a heater is an IR heater. If you point it at yourself, it'll use much less energy while feeling warmer because it's only heating what it "hits". Instead of heating the air, and the air heating you, it just hears you. The downside is if you have it facing your front, then your back might feel cold. But that's solved with a blanket or jacket.
The Carhartt arctic bibs are absolutely amazing for this. I wear them at work regularly and literally never get cold, even when out in the snow. It’s like wearing a sleeping bag.
Put a regular fan behind the oil heater at a lower speed, it will circulate the warm air more
Tried this and unfortunately this gives quite the chill effect :(
This Vornado is an amazing space heater that is safe for children. It has a vortex action airflow that evenly heats the whole room, and a built-in thermostat to prevent overheating. It also has tip-over and overheating protection, and is cool to the touch. We love this heater so much that we are getting rid of our other space heaters and replacing them all with this one.
These are the best space heater (according to someone who lives in one of the coldest places in the USA):
Vornado AVH10 - Convenient cord-wrapping post for easy storage, and, for extra safety, a countdown clock when you turn it off.
DeLonghi TRD40615T - It's a bit expensive. Cozier, more ambient warmth throughout the room than what you typically get from a directional space heater with a fan.
Lasko FH500 (tower space heater) - it warmed the room swiftly and consistently to the temperature you dial in. It also has a medium heating option (in addition to the standard high and low settings found on most other space heaters).

Thanks for the info. Been looking for a solid air purifier for my living room
How often do you recommend to wash/rinse the filters: water only ? soap or others ?
Great question, it really depends on your environment, but generally I would recommend once a month and yes use a bit of soap to kill them germs!
thanks
Nice review, thank you. I may need one soon as I am a smoker and the summers get hot here in Arizona! :-)
My friend has told me about how he has trouble getting to sleep at night simply because his room gets really hot. (It's been over 106 degrees F here in Cali recently.) He already has a fan but he says this doesn't help much. I've been searching, but I'm not sure what else I could get him other than those swamp coolers I've been seeing lately. Any replies at all are appreciated, thanks!
i really can’t seem to find anything for 40 bucks other than some as seen on tv thing so i don’t entirely trust it (it’s called an “arctic air” tho if you’re curious). I think it might be better to hand your friend 40 bucks and tell them to put it towards a good air conditioner personally but maybe someone else can vouch for the arctic air or has a better idea
Yes. I bought one of these arctic air things and have been in the heat waves here in Cali. They don’t work when it’s that hot. Probably ok if it’s in the 80s. I caved and got an actual AC and it’s changed my life. I agree with your suggestion, OP could give their friend $40 towards a proper ac
A ceiling fan vs a regular fan was game changing for us.
Get a bedjet! They're a little pricey depending on your budget but theyre super awesome. We have two, one for each side of our bed.
Maybe look for a used window unit ac? New they're about $130 for the small ones here (KY) but you can probably pick one up on Craigslist or fb marketplace or whatever a lot cheaper if you don't care to clean it.
I think your best bet is a diy project of ducting the fan air thru a cheap cooler with ice in it.
I live in a 1-br apartment, older building so theres no AC — it gets hot here in California so when I get back from work, my apartment is way more humid inside then outside!!
Looking for a great cooling fan, somewhat nice looking — and Ive done a lot of research on Dyson but cant bring myself to paying $400-$600!! Theyre really asking for an arm and a leg for that
Buy a window AC? This way you can even keep it after you change rent
This is probably what I would do. A window ac unit and another big fan to circulate the air.
1 bedroom, no fan should be needed, sounds like a small living space. That window AC should be good enough.
Do NOT get portable AC's they are terrible at cooling and electricity efficiency.
Also don't buy Dyson or expensive brands if you rent you're most likely not rich so... Buy cheap stuff with good reviews on the net.
Unfortunately I don't have any amazing recommendations, but definitely don't go for the Dyson. While they do look cool and generally are well built enough to last a while, the amount of air they move for their size and noise level really is just quite pathetic. This video has some interesting tests on their efficiency: https://youtu.be/dS0oFmzU06g
Might need to be more specific. Walmart/hardware stores/etc will have nice looking fans that put out a ton of air. Impeller fans like Dyson blade less are more common these days.
Personally I've found that I prefer old bulletproof vintage fans from yard sales and stuff. They put out a ton of air and look great.
If you look at new fans, look for the cubic feet per minute (CFM) number. The higher it is, the more air it blows.
Thank you for this! This was helpful, i didnt think about info on the cfm number.
Cooling fan thats not crazy loud on level 3, like the old school gym ones. I will look into walmart!
Vornados are awesome af.
Hard disagree. I want to like their fans but they just don’t move as much air as cheaper alternatives. Not to mention I’ve had to warranty the one from my bedroom already but the $10 fan from home-depot just keeps running and I rarely even turn it off.
Amazon basics makes a very good vornado alike for like half the price too!! I use mine in California for my bedroom 10/10 would recommend :)
Also worth noting the larger the fan blades are, the quieter it will be.
best air cooler for large rooms
Key Considerations for Choosing an Air Cooler for Large Rooms
Cooling Capacity (CFM): Look for an air cooler with a high cubic feet per minute (CFM) rating. For large rooms, aim for at least 2,000 CFM to effectively circulate cool air.
Tank Size: A larger water tank (10-20 gallons) will allow for longer cooling periods without frequent refills. This is especially important for larger spaces.
Evaporative Technology: Ensure the cooler uses efficient evaporative cooling technology, which is ideal for dry climates. This method cools air by passing it over water-saturated pads.
Portability: If you plan to move the cooler between rooms, consider models with wheels and a lightweight design for easy transport.
Energy Efficiency: Look for energy-efficient models that consume less power, which can save on electricity bills while providing effective cooling.
Noise Level: Check the decibel rating; quieter models (below 60 dB) are preferable for larger spaces, especially if you plan to use it in bedrooms or living areas.
Recommendations:
Honeywell CO60PM: This model has a high CFM rating (up to 2,100 CFM), a large 15-gallon tank, and is suitable for spaces up to 1,000 sq. ft. It's also energy-efficient and portable.
Luma Comfort EC220W: With a CFM of 2,000, this cooler is designed for larger areas and features a 10-gallon tank. It’s compact and has a sleek design, making it a good fit for modern spaces.
Breezair EXH160: If you're looking for a premium option, this model offers excellent cooling performance, a large tank, and is known for its quiet operation, making it ideal for larger rooms.
Choose based on your specific needs, such as room size, climate, and budget.
