TL;DR The ASUS ROG Strix Scar series and Zephyrus series are highly recommended for gaming, offering excellent build quality and performance. Consider your budget and specific needs when choosing a model.
ASUS ROG Series
The ASUS ROG (Republic of Gamers) series is frequently mentioned as a top choice for gaming laptops. The Strix Scar models, particularly the 18-inch version with high-end GPUs like the RTX 5080/5090, are noted for their powerful performance [1:5]. The ROG Zephyrus G14 is praised for its beauty and beastly performance, making it suitable for both gaming and college use
[5:1].
Build Quality and Reliability
ASUS is recognized for its good build quality and reliability. Many users have reported satisfaction with ASUS laptops, citing their durability and design [5:2]
[5:3]. However, it's important to review specific models before purchasing, as every manufacturer can have less successful products
[5:6].
Alternative Recommendations
While ASUS is highly regarded, other brands such as Lenovo Legion and Alienware are also suggested for their quality and performance [2:1]
[3:7]. MSI's higher-end models like the Titan and Vector series are considered decent, but their budget options are generally not recommended due to quality issues
[3:2]
[3:8].
Budget Considerations
For those with a budget around $2100, the ASUS Zephyrus DUO 16 from 2022 is a potential option [4:2]. It's crucial to balance your budget with the features you need, such as screen size preferences and additional components like RAM upgrades
[4:3]
[3:9].
Customer Service and Support
ASUS customer service is generally well-regarded, although experiences can vary depending on location [3:4]. Dell's Alienware is noted for providing excellent customer service in some regions, including sending technicians for repairs
[3:5].
In summary, ASUS offers several strong contenders in the gaming laptop market, particularly within the ROG series. Prioritize your specific needs, budget, and desired features when selecting the best model for you.
I am currently looking at buying a gaming laptop. I have heard good things about ASUS, but I am not quite sure where to begin.
I am accustomed to using Acer products, and my current PC setup is an Acer tower, so any Acer recommends would also be helpful.
I don’t have a capped budget.
MSI Titan 18 HX AI (2025) is the best gaming laptop, but the shipment is delayed, and many of us have not received our laptops.
4K display but not OLED right?
no vrr as well
The ASUS Zenbook 14 Pro comes with an OLED screen and either an RTX 4060 or 4070 GPU. It has a great build quality and doesn't look like a cheap gaming laptop. The screen is stunning, and there's an extra RAM slot for upgrades. The speakers are on the cheaper side, but still better than most laptops on the market.
Something like a ROG Strix Scar 18 with 5080/5090 GPU is a decent bet. There's also the Acer Predator Helios 18, although it's a cheaper/mid-range build.
If you want smaller, then Legion 7 Pro 16.
If you want compact then Razer Blade 18 or 16.
I went with ASUS, thank you.
Congrats, what made you pick asus?
Congrats. Which GPU?
I would encourage you to look at the new Alienware Area-51 18" laptop as well. Strix Scar 18 has already been mentioned. I think the build quality will be better with the Area-51. The Asus will have a better screen. I feel confident the AW will have better cooling. Time will tell. Also like Lenovo top offerings.
What’s the best gaming laptop company? I’ve mostly been interested in Asus and MSI because it seems those are two of the most popular gaming laptop companies. There’s a Asus laptop I’m interested in buying for my first laptop, but I’m not sure what the best company is. I can spend maybe $2300 at most and I’m interested in becoming a V tuber so I want Ryzen 9 and the gaming laptop I’m interested has Ryzen 9 any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance. This is the laptop. I’m thinking about getting for my first ever laptop if it goes on sale. Thanks in advance.
msi: hell nah bro. Their high end laptops are decent, but their budget lines are AGHHHHHHH.
I would say Lenovo (but their Legions usually come with intel processors), followed by Asus.
i think asus with the latest ROG series
Legion series and strix scar series
Lenovo Legion, followed by ASUS ROG laptops

For great component reliability and good build quality in general: Asus Strix / Zephyrus and Lenovo Legion Pro are probably the 3 best lineups.
MSI make some very good laptops but the best ones (Raider and Titan series) are severely overpriced. The Vector series tend to be on the bang for the buck side but unlike the more expensive models and the Asus/Lenovo, they have flaws like average screens with bad colors and without G-sync, plus sometimes questionable build quality around the hinges.
Razer have top notch build quality but are also severely expensive and tend to historically have battery swelling and motherboard issues. Razer support being abysmal does not help defending this brand unfortunately.
Honorable mention goes to Alienware laptops in build quality, but I've heard the temperature differentials within the CPU and GPU can be quite high, and this is due to how the heatsinks are tightened around them. They also tend to be more expensive than the equivalent Asus and Lenovo laptops. And the Dell software is just horrible in general.
Every other known brand (Acer Predator, HP Omen to give examples) sits just slightly below the above mentioned laptops. I would not get these unless there is a very interesting sale. HP Omen are notorious for heavily discounting their high end models (4090 for example) so they can be worth looking at if you're seeking maximum gaming performance while being okay with cutting corners around build quality, cooling and reliability.
Have seen many ASUS laptops with failed mobo, especially cheap ones.
MSI vector or above models are good, anything below is e-waste, ready to break at anytime.
Lenovo cheapest models were the best among other cheapest, but recently we have MOBO issues on LOQ.
Alienware some 2022 models seen with mobo issues.
Razer , heard many guys complaining about dying after warranty time.
HP omen is the best laptop I have seen my friends use, with least complaint, first gen victus got many issues.
Dont buy the cheapest laptop from any manufacturer, always aim for second cheapest class.
How is Asus customer service compared to Dell(Alienware)?
I had a charger start to come apart with a x15 r1 after about 3 months, and dell sent another one for free pretty quickly.
Depending on where you are, Dell customer service can be top notch.
In the US I know they send technicians over to your house to help with repairs. In Europe there is no such thing from what I know.
I have never tried Asus support although I own one of their top end laptops for 3 years. It's already 1 year past it's warranty but it's still working perfectly so I never really needed their customer service. I even opened it up for repasting with PTM7950, can confirm the laptop still works perfectly.
I would personally always choose Asus just for their reliability even though their customer service can be a hot or miss (based on feedback on social media).
My old Acer Predator completely died last week. Looking for replacements. Talked with sales people at Best Buy just to hear what's current in gaming laptops and to physically see what they look and feel like. They recommended Lenovo and Asus first for quality. They stopped selling MSI. They have reliability issues. They work great forever or they have constant problems. No in-betweens.
So going with an Asus ROG Strix G16 off Amazon with a RTX 5050. Ordering more RAM since 16 was all they offered inthat unit selection. Cheaper then buying with more memory.
How exactly do you give a gaming laptop that only has 16gb more storage. Do you have to take the laptop apart?
It depends on your choice.
For me personally, my personal top 3 choices are Lenovo, Alienware, and Asus ROG.
Awesome thanks for letting me know I’m probably going to get an Asus
I would also say as a personal MSI (non-gaming laptop) owner, just avoid them.
MSI has been known for cheaping out and cutting corners on their machines. The only good ones they have are the titan and vector series.
Otherwise something like the MSI thin feels incredibly cheap for its price and they even cheap out on the cooling system with a single fan design for laptops that have a core i7 and an RTX 4070. Like MSI cyborg.
Just Josh put out a video 3-4 months ago ranking laptops across 5 categories: Innovation, Design, Quality, Support, and Value. These were the final combined scores. Now this isn't just for gaming...it's also for work too so take that into consideration. I have been watching a bunch of reviews from Just Josh and Jarrod's Tech and I feel like right now Asus and Lenovo are probably the top. I think the HP Omen is in that next tier probably with Alienware.
I think the Lenovo Legion are doing amazing this time around and the ASUS Scar is right there neck and neck with it. The ASUS Zephyrus is also pretty good although I believe it feeds it's GPU less watts 130 if I remember correctly so you get better battery at the sacrifice of some performance...but great build quality. The HP Omen has better performance than the Zephyrus and the price is great right now if you order a custom build and use the LEVELUP20 code. Those are probably the ones I'd look at right now...ASUS Scar, Lenovo Legion, and the HP Omen. Alienware also was pretty good. There was a reason I ruled them out though and I can't remember what it was.
Apple on top? What the fuck?
Macbooks doesn't even have dedicated GPUs
I think it’s because they’re the best at what they do, namely build quality machines that look great, are user-friendly as hell and last forever.
I’m looking for a laptop and need recommendations for ASUS as I’ve been recommended several different makes and models. It’s gonna be a gaming/college laptop. Feel free to ask any questions you need to. Any help is greatly appreciated.
2022 Zephyrus DUO 16
Any of the strix would serve you well if you’re willing to shell out the money. Budget?
$2100 ish dollars
Do you have screen size preference
I want to buy one for my college
Asus laptops are actually good. They have good build quality. ASUS is a good brand and is very reliable with several service centers in major countries. Just make sure the laptop u buy has a webcam
I am using their TUF series since, June.i must say I am quite pleased with their product. I really like that their design sense is actually quite mature. Considering the price of that range I thought t will be quite tacky and gamer-y, I may have to live with some things I dont agree with, but it is a solid experience for the most part, design and build wise. I have FX705, charging brick is also not like an afterthought/ overlooked part for the given budget. So, except for the slight wobble in trackpads in my unit, which I was assured by support, will be fixed once I get it to a service center. It gives very good value.
And I also really love the aesthetic and design of zenbook/ vivobook and others. In the past five years they have also been coming up with fun and unique products like the Duo and G14 and Strix Rog. So innovating as well.
Asus is honestly the best brand you can buy as long as you don't get one of the shitty ones with the blocked fans and shit
I’ve ROG Zephyrus G14, bought a month ago and it is beautiful and beast.
I got the 15, and it really feels like I got a lot for my money.
They have a lot of great machines.
But as with any brand you MUST review your specific model before purchasing. Every manufacturer is capable of flops.
Looking for suggestions for a top performing, great reliability for a gaming laptop. I was looking into the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 18 2025 model, but I figured I ask around before making a final decision.
Hi All, I have decided to change my basic laptop to a premium laptop. Based on online reviews and personal recommendations, I am preferring to buy ASUS laptops (G series or Zenbook or other premium laptops). However, I saw many complaints in a subreddit about ASUS laptops. Should I listen to these? Do you guys recommend ASUS?
I have the Zephyrus GA15 and absolutely love it. Great feeling keyboard, nice display, and super fast. (Also put 40GB DDR5 in it.) I don't game and never hear the fan, but read before I got it that it can be warm gaming. I use it as my daily driver. Couldn't be happier.
Thank you!
It depeneds, been trough couple of x13 & x16 ROG flows. QA sometime fails, software is big hot mess which leads laptop themselfs to be hot and messy too (overheating). They great on paper but possibly you could get something from another brand that's more reliably - I wasn't an owner since like 5 years but Lenovo didn't let me down, while my ASUS been on multiple RMA's in similar amount of time
Hmm... Will dig a bit deeper. Thanks for the feedback.
No. Very questionable QA, had my G15 replaced and later went through a few RMAs.
Oh ok. Thanks for the feedback.
I have the budget vivobook with Ryzen 3500u. All plastic but good sturdy build quality, upgradle to a extent (ram, ssd) does me fine and I even use it for 720p gaming. I have had zero issues or complaints with my model. It’s my old works laptop that I got through a donation.
Thanks for the feedback!
However, I saw many complaints in a subreddit about ASUS laptops.
Just going to leave this note for you, reddit is a common place to jump to complain about things. If you dig deep enough you will find people who complain about every brand.
🙂 agree 💯
I've been thinking of a good gaming laptop to buy, but idk which one is the best. Im choosing between MSI or Asus Tuf... Any recommendations?i just want a good gaming laptop that will last long for me with less issues ig?
Hey all. So I'm in the market for a new gaming laptop
I do a lot of video editing so also want to use this machine for that. I'm selling a couple of things towards it so I can potentially go up to 3k.
I liked the look of the Asus duo, the 3050ti - but to be honest I'm so unsure or what I need or want in terms of specs.
Essentially looking for a powerful graphics card, that can handle all recent games at medium or high settings, and have enough to edit 4k footage without slowdowns as well. I'm interested in unique concepts like the Asus, but mainly the thinnest and lightest possible
Thanks in advance for any recs!
if you can go up that high, im sure there are 4090 laptops in that range. find one that best suits your needs whether it be focusing on storage space, graphics, ram, etc.
Any decent comparison site/matrix? I feel there's so many, and brands, I actually feel clueless which isn't usual for me and tech haha
automod didnt like that lol.
Why not 5080 OMEN it cost below 3k
i agree, its just most people like the 40 series better for some reason.
Hey r/newproducts, been digging through reviews, specs, and way too many reddit threads lately trying to find the perfect gaming laptop, figured i’d drop what i found in case anyone else’s in the same boat. I may earn an Affiliate Commission if you buy through links here.
after doing research i found these gaming laptops to be the best currently:
if you’re looking for raw power, big screen, and future-proof specs, the ASUS ROG Strix G18 is an absolute beast. crazy smooth performance and handles AAA games like nothing. it’s big tho, so not the most portable.
the MSI Katana 15 surprised me tbh: more budget-friendly, but still solid 1080p gaming. not flashy, but if you’re not trying to spend 2k+, it’s a reliable pick.
and then there’s the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16: probably the most balanced of the three. it’s light, powerful, and has that sleek design that actually looks professional. great choice if you game and take it to work or class.
all three have RTX 40-series cards, great thermals, and high refresh screens. depends on whether you want max power, portability, or value. #amazon
g16 display build = elite combo
this helped me justify my g16 purchase
Incomplete lost considering Lenovo legion pro series aren't on there.
best asus gaming laptop
Key Considerations for Choosing the Best ASUS Gaming Laptop:
Graphics Card: Look for laptops with dedicated GPUs like NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or higher for optimal gaming performance.
Processor: Aim for at least an Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 7 processor to handle modern games and multitasking efficiently.
RAM: A minimum of 16GB of RAM is recommended for smooth gameplay and running multiple applications simultaneously.
Display: Consider a laptop with a high refresh rate (144Hz or higher) and good resolution (1080p or 1440p) for a better gaming experience.
Cooling System: Effective cooling is crucial for maintaining performance during long gaming sessions. Look for models with advanced cooling technologies.
Battery Life: Gaming laptops typically have shorter battery life, but some models offer decent performance away from a power source.
Recommendations:
ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14: This model is highly regarded for its powerful AMD Ryzen 9 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 GPU. It’s lightweight, has a great battery life, and features a 14-inch QHD display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15: If you prefer a larger screen, this laptop comes with an Intel Core i7, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070, and a 15.6-inch FHD display with a 300Hz refresh rate, making it ideal for competitive gaming.
ASUS TUF Gaming A15: For a more budget-friendly option, this laptop offers solid performance with an AMD Ryzen 5 processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650, making it suitable for casual gaming.
Takeaway: Choose based on your gaming needs, budget, and portability preferences. The ROG series is generally more powerful and premium, while the TUF series offers good value for gamers on a budget.
