TL;DR
Budget Considerations
When looking for a budget gaming laptop, it's important to balance performance with cost. A user mentioned purchasing a laptop with a 4060 GPU, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD for around $800 USD, which performed well even with demanding games like Cyberpunk on high settings [1:1]. This suggests that you can find capable gaming laptops without spending over $1000.
Specifications to Look For
For gaming, prioritize a strong GPU and sufficient RAM. The Asus Tuf A15 with a Ryzen 5 4600H and GTX 1650 was highlighted as a decent option, though it might be slightly outdated now [2]. Ideally, look for newer models with GPUs like the GTX 1650 or higher, and at least 16GB of RAM to ensure smooth gameplay and multitasking capabilities.
Alternative Options
Consider refurbished or used laptops if you're open to them, as they can provide better specs for your money [4]. Ensure these are from reputable sellers and in good condition. A specific example given was a laptop with an AMD Ryzen 7 8745HS, 32GB DDR5 RAM, and Radeon 780M Graphics for $750, which offers excellent multitasking and light gaming performance
[4:1].
Thermal Management
Good thermal management is crucial for gaming laptops. Users recommended thermal pastes like Kryonaut and Arctic MX-6 for maintaining optimal temperatures [5:1]. These can help improve performance and longevity by ensuring efficient heat dissipation.
Final Recommendations
If your budget allows, aim for a laptop with a dedicated GPU such as the GTX 1650 or better, paired with a modern CPU like the AMD Ryzen 7 series. Ensure it has adequate RAM (16GB or more) and storage (SSD preferred). If buying new is too costly, explore refurbished options that offer similar specifications at a reduced price.
More or less 1000 usd and it served me for like 7 years. Still I wouldn't go back to gaming laptop because how frail they are but I need them at that time.
yeah you have to pay $2k to get a good gaming laptop
just how it is
laptops are power limited and heat limited
i paid like $1700 for a mid tier gaming laptop
if you get lucky and are on a budget you buy a 5070 laptop $1200ish
Yes 2k mobile and 8k rig. But ITS my only Hobby. Depending in the age one gets replaced.
like 450 in 2013 or so
I bought my girlfriend a laptop instead of building her a PC since she's heavy on playing games on the couch or in bed and I knew she wouldn't use it nearly as much if she had to sit at a desk for it - combine that with the additional costs of a monitor + keyboard + mouse and it ended up roughly equaling out.
But to actually answer your question - no, it didn't cost $2k+, but about $800 USD (black friday sale, normally $1100), came with 16gb of RAM, 1tb SSD, and a 4060 - more than enough for her uses. She even started playing cyberpunk on it and it runs great on high settings w/ no RT.
In the future once we upgrade our living room TV I'll build a SFF living room PC.

Update :- The laptop is sold to olx guy! For 25K! Initially he was hesitate to buy it at that price but once he see the condition he was amazed and paid me right there!
and then everyone cheered !
Lol! If he got 25 for that Ryzen 5 4600H and that old school 1650! Then he gets the steal bro! I don't even buy at 20k Honestly Speaking!
Haa haa! That was dark! Anyway! I have bought on 50K 3.5 years back! And considering the technological advancements! The price is good according to me😎🙂↔️
Game loot will tell laptop is heating, not worth it and they can give max 5k after they receive it. When you deny, they ask 500 to return it back to you. My worst experience with gameloot
Aaah! Fck that Gameloot! What do you think what should be the price then!
I can do 15 or max to max 16 + shipping
No Bro! it is little low
Lol ur delusional if u think you'll get even 15k for this in cashify
Yeah! My bad! If you have any idea, At what price i should sell it
Wanted a laptop for a while and decided to get a gaming one since my gaming PC is ancient and never gets used (GTX 980) but I’d like some expert input on what to buy/what to avoid. Are modern laptops capable enough of running new games to be worth it? Or are they always compromised in a big way? Oh also, is there any hope a gaming laptop could power VR (PSVR2 works with PC now I hear) or is that not possible?
Anyway my list of desires - too one is best gfx card I can get, been looking at RTX 4070ti, 5070, 5070ti or better I want 16GB VRAM but 12GB at an absolute minimum. Not expecting to game in 4k so 1440p at 120fps + is my aim.
I play a mix of new AAA games, indie games and older games.
Screen I’d like OLED and high refresh rate 144hz+ not bothered about size.
32GB RAM expandable would be nice.
1tb+ SSD, and be nice if i could add an extra SSD i have which is compatible with the PS5 but not needed for that.
Not clued up on CPUs, are intel i9 or i7 still top dog? want it to be as fast and capable as possible not bottlenecked.
That’s all I really know to look for, so id be grateful for any input from you all about which brands/models to avoid or which things I didnt missed.
Will be using it for gaming and browsing the net and writing stuff/job applications etc but no plans to render or edit videos etc.
Sorry for long post, i just have loads of questions and ideally will be picking one up today if possible. Cheers.
>Are modern laptops capable enough of running new games to be worth it?
Yes.
> Or are they always compromised in a big way?
Only thing people people fail to recognise is that there will always be a large disparity between mobile and desktop components. e.g. technically a desktop 1080 edges out a 4050 in raw performance and rasterisation (and funnily also beats it in VRAM) but you're forgetting the newer tech and efficency (thermals and power wise) in 4050.
>Oh also, is there any hope a gaming laptop could power VR (PSVR2 works with PC now I hear) or is that not possible?
Possible, but would definitely be aiming for 5070Ti or higher (a 4080/4090 would also suffice, for the right price). 5070 has 8GB and there is no 4070Ti, so both are out of the question for you there.
The only problem with that PS5 SSD is the fat heatsink which I guarantee will not fit into a laptop chassis, especially if next to another SSD.
>Not clued up on CPUs, are intel i9 or i7 still top dog? want it to be as fast and capable as possible not bottlenecked.
Bottlenecking is rarely an issue on laptops. They would not make these configs if there was an issue. When bottlenecking does occur, it's super, super minor. I guess i7s and i9s are still "top dog" but that question honestly sounds pretty weird out of context. There's also a selection of Ryzen chips to pick from now too. This statement also entirely depends on suffix (HX is better that H for example) and exact model. Numbers are pretty meaningless nowadays. Some i7s are better than i9s, same with AMD chips.

1 and 7 on the list are amazing, take your pick.
AMD 9955HX3D is the best CPU.
But AMD 9955HX, and Intel 255HC and 275HX are pretty good good. The i naming is gone, they are calling them Core Ultra 5/7/9 now.
What about AMD GPUs? Are any as good as or better than NVIDIA? Im thinkinj ill get an RTX 5070ti or maybe a 5080, basically anything with more than 8GB VRAM but it’s not easy to find any of them in stock I’m finding!
There are no AMD laptop GPUs this gen. Hoping for the future.
LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE
would PREFER 300-500usd but will save up for 600-800 usd
as long as they’re clean!
already have an IPad so 2-in-1 isn’t required. Battery life is preferred for more that 5 hours— and I’d like the performance to handle multitasking!
It’s gonna be staying on my desk 95% of the time so weight isn’t a big deal. but Aesthetic wise, chunky gaming laptops just aren’t it for me 😭
Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
anything bigger than 12 inches!
Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
Video Editing in Davinci Resolve and Adobe, Clip Studio Paint (its like photoshop), i also would LIKE to be able to run a drawing tablet from it if that matters here—
will most likely be needing to use Blender, Live2D and Unity for my classes as well
Gaming isn’t a MUST. But I would like to be able to play a game or two of roblox or REPO with my friends without my screen glitching out. I mostly play visual novels and games like Among the Sleep, DBH, etc.
iiiiii don’t think so?? tbh idk much about this stuff 😭
I’ve been told 16gb+ RAM and more than 500 ssd (1tb preferred) is the best! but any suggestions would be great. I have an Xppen Artist V2 15.6 inch tablet, and would REALLY like to be able to use it… i’m trying to find a laptop as a temporary replacement until I have the funds for a PC. I have no idea what im doing—- any help would be greatly appreciated! 🙏
$750, AMD Ryzen 7 8745HS, 32GB DDR5 RAM, 1TB SSD, Radeon 780M Graphics, 17" screen.
https://www.amazon.com/NIMO-Light-Gaming-Laptop-Graphics-Computer-Fingerprint/dp/B0FLK613GD/?th=1
You could find devices with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD that come with AMD Radeon 780M or Intel Arc Graphics as the iGPU for about $600, but I think the RAM may be a bit tight when you use those design software when the iGPU needs to share it, so going for 32GB is a better choice.
Laptops with a dedicated GPU in your budget range typically don't have good battery life, so I am not considering any here.
I want to changing thermal paste of my laptop. I need suggestion on best and affordable thermal in Nepal right now in the market.
Kryonaut, arctic mx-6 , noctua nt-h2. Buy any of these at your convenience of availability and pricing.
Kryonaut normal thermal paste or liquid thermal paste.
Kryonaut normal thermal paste, conductonaut is liquid metal.
Kryonaut
If you guys find some good deals. Then please let me know
Get the loq 4050.
Which one ?
I thik its i5 version ,some people bought for like 65k
Loq 4050 , it'll drop under 70k
I marked Red for the parts that I cannot make any changes in future or that can possibly be a disadvanage for my usecase(also included price), but I need your advice on that. Orange are ones I wanted, bu I can possibly upgrade in future. Yellow, I can manage. Green are perfect and Double Green are bonus for me.
I guess Lenovo LOQ Intel is best https://amzn.to/3JZXGZJ
This one in the link is RTX 5050
I did not get this variant but I would like to suggest you another laptop. Lenovo legion 5
5060 VS 4070 slightly better 5060 is better but 5050 vs 4070
4070 is better.
By the way, what is your budget?
You can get the lenovo loq 5060 under 90k with sheerid + coupon + credit card cashback
You mean the AMD variant right? Ya I am planning to use unidays if I get one. And 5k credit card I might not be able to choose, since I'd need to pay it in full. I plan to use affiliate link as well. Sheerid was already applied.
How bro
DM me for discounts on lenovo
[deleted]
legion overal its just higher quality, comparing to rog similar not tuf
Yeah because in comparison to rog, the quality of the legion seems to have almost identical specs, it’s just it’s kind of out of my budget and I found out that the Lenovo seems to work just fine and is around my budget
check gpu tgp. Last year i was considering a 3050 alg laptop and it had lot of drawbacks. Mainly ig it was gpu tgp, +screen is dogshit iirc. But at this price idk. Try loq in bbd or with student discounts.
I will get acer aspire7 i7 13h with 4050 in around 60k in bbd sale.Is it best deal ?
You should look at gpu tgp if you desire gpu intenskve task, because more tgp = more graphics power. Aspire is not even a gaming laptop. It has less tgp 4050 too.The website mentions 150w charger and no mention of tgp, means it's severely underpowered (maybe 50w or so). Avoid if you want it for gaming. For reference i had an asus tuf a15 with rtx 3050 75w and it had a 180w adapter. For example in other rtx 4050 laptops, loq gives 105w tgp and omen gives 120w. Victus gives 50w 4050 so avoid that too.
Acer ki service kaisi h tumhare area m vo pta kro pehle, after sale service achi hui tb hi lena
I think it has ddr4 ram don't know how much that impacts performance tho
No mux switch
it's intel i5 , ig it has integrated gpu so mux switch is there
Its a very good deal after SBI CC OFF
It depends on what "budget" means for you. If it means up to 900 usd, you can check out this Lenovo LOQ 15 for 880 usd. It has CPU AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS, GPU NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 8GB, 16GB DDR5 RAM, 1TB SSD, 15.6-inch 144Hz IPS FHD display (with 100% sRGB color gamut), backlit keyboard, and Windows 11 Home.
I want like 1200 usd
In this case check out this Gigabyte Aero X16 for 1200 usd. It has CPU AMD Ryzen AI 7 350, 32GB DDR5 RAM, 1TB SSD, GPU NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 8GB, 16-inch IPS 1600p 165Hz display (with practical 16:10 aspect ratio, 400 nits brightness, and 100% sRGB color gamut), backlit keyboard, and Windows 11 Home.
