Best Budget Headphones

TL;DR

  • Koss KPH30i, KPH40, Porta Pro: Highly recommended for budget options with good sound quality.
  • Sony MDR-7506: Studio-quality headphones around $100.
  • Fiio JT1 or King Fiio Ft1: Popular budget picks.
  • Soundcore Q30: Good ANC and wireless option.

Popular Budget Options

The Koss brand is frequently mentioned as a top choice for budget headphones. The Koss KPH30i, KPH40, and Porta Pro are praised for their excellent sound quality at affordable prices [1:2], [3:9]. These models are often suggested for those looking for wired options that don't break the bank.

Studio Quality and Durability

For those willing to spend a bit more, the Sony MDR-7506 is a highly recommended option. Known for its durability and studio-quality sound, these headphones have been in production for about 30 years and cost around $100 [1:4].

Wireless and ANC Options

If you're interested in wireless headphones with active noise cancellation (ANC), the Soundcore Q30 is a popular recommendation. It's noted for providing good value for money with decent ANC capabilities [3:7]. Another option mentioned is the Sony XB910N, which offers a balance between high-end and low-tier ANC headphones [3:6].

Other Notable Mentions

Several other brands and models were highlighted across discussions. The Fiio JT1 or King Fiio Ft1 are gaining popularity as budget-friendly choices [1:6], [2:2]. For those looking for inexpensive wireless options, Anker Soundcore and 1More Sonoflow are also worth considering [5:6].

Considerations Beyond the Discussions

When choosing budget headphones, it's important to consider your specific needs such as comfort, sound quality, and additional features like a built-in microphone or wireless capability. While many budget options provide great sound, personal preference plays a significant role, so trying out different models if possible can be beneficial.

I’ve heard heaps of good things about Koss Porta Pros, the wired version is priced really well and it’s gorgeous in its retro form factor, bluetooth makes it not so budget though.

Or even the Koss KPH30i, heard plenty of good things about that too.

These are on-ears btw

+1 for porta pros or kph40 (whichever is on sale) I don't think there is a better wired headphone at that price

Yeah seriously, these things are incredible for the price point, looks flimsy but the sound is solid. Looks good as hell too IMO

The Sony MDR-7506 are bomb-proof studio quality headphones. They've been in production for about 30 years and cost about $100

Thank you all for the recommendations! 😭

I have decided to go for the KPH30i and KPH40X Utility. These headphones are the best for budget wise!!

Sony Walkman NW-A55 + ClearAudio mode + KPH30i or KPH40X Utility = Perfect!

Best budget over ear headphones

Posted by Enough_Tadpole9287 · in r/HeadphoneAdvice · 3 months ago

Looking for a pair of overhear headphones. Don’t want to spend more then $200 but would prefer to spend around $100. I will mostly use them at home and traveling but would like to be able to go on walks and runs with them. I get headaches easily so I would like a light, comfortable fit. Don’t really care about noise canceling, it would be nice but I don’t want to spend too much. A want a sleek design and a pretty color would be nice, definitely not required.

What are the best headphones? With budget and without

Posted by cl0udss_03 · in r/HeadphoneAdvice · 2 years ago

I have been looking for headphones for a while now and I've been curious what are the best headphones when you have no budget and what are the headphones you would choose if you had a tight budget? I'm looking for normal use with noise cancelling and that they can last a while, that they're over ear and that they're wireless or with wires and is able to be wireless.

Define "tight budget", it's not the same for everyone.

If you add "wireless" and "ANC" to the needed features, you will get less choice, less quality and more budget to get to an acceptable quality.

This is the best answer IMHO.

Also asking what's the best headphones is like asking what's the best color... Each person will have their own preference...

3 upvotes on reddit
cl0udss_03 · OP · 2 years ago

I didn't really think about an actual price with tight budget, I meant it more like what headphones anyone would buy while knowing they don't want to spend too much, and if it would be different if they didn't need to think about the price.

No budget. Sennheiser Orpheus.

Tight budget on ear. Koss porta pro , KC 75. shp 9500

Mid range : sennheiser hd600 , hd58x , he400se.

Comfort : shp 9500 , takstar pro 82.

Sound : hd 600. Hd 58x (for sub bass with eq blows me away)

Sound underdog : superlux 330 need to change to a more comfortable earpad and the clamp bit tight sound really good and it's cheap.

Samson SR80. All plastic change the earpad as well super comfortable . Last more than 10 years now. Still working. Sound imo not bad. Quite good . But imo superlux 330 wins over the Samson

Speakers : swans d100 I personally use this pair with a sub.

I own all of the above and more except for no budget.

My end game : I realize I am speaker guy. More of headphones guy. I do also have some IEM but I never use them anymore. Cause I get ear infection if not my ear gets damn itchy and I hate it. That's why I legit never use iem anymore.

Most say that the Sennheiser HE-1 is the best in the world. Run you 50,000 plus. On the tight budget end---many options--Depends upon how much you consider to be "on a tight budget"

Kph30i/kph40/porta pro/ksc75 has to be in the equation for the tight budget options. If I win the lottery I'll buy us the he-1 to compare.

Bought this boult headphone a while back. This was priced around 2k and I am a college student so I went with these, I am not that into music but wanted a headphone for studying and casual music listening. This is nice, it charges very fast and battery life just exceeded my expectations. Now my budget has been raised to about 6000rs, what headphones should I buy?

PPMHIismessedup · OP · 4 months ago

These headphones do not have that good of a bass but the sound quality is decent according to the price, it's clear and does not distort when you increase the volume. You can go with these the build quality is also good, I have dropped these literally so many times.

Looking for the Best Budget Headphones – Any Recommendations?

Posted by SpiritOk8085 · in r/HeadphoneAdvice · 1 month ago

Hey everyone! I’m looking to buy a good pair of budget headphones and would love some suggestions from this awesome community. My budget is around ₹1500–₹3000 (or $20–$35), but I’m open to a little flexibility if it’s really worth it.

I’ll mainly use them for: • Music (mostly vocals, soft rock, and some EDM) • Watching YouTube/Netflix • Occasional gaming and calls

I’m okay with wired or wireless, but good sound quality and comfort are important. A mic would be a plus, but not necessary.

Any brands/models you’ve personally used and would recommend? Bonus points if they’re available in India (Flipkart/Amazon/etc).

Thanks in advance!

If you want to buy new, at that price point you are pretty much only looking at Koss:

Koss KPH30i Koss KPH40 Koss Porta Pro

If you get lucky, maybe you can find a Samson SR 850

Superlux might be an option as well but only if you are into super sharp treble

You can also try to find a HyperX Cloud 2 which would sound amazing and have a mic, but finding that for less than 30 bucks might be a stretch.

Imo your only other headset option would be the Epos H3.

I keep a pair of Moondrop Chu 2 at work as a backup IEM just in case I ever forget some of my other IEMs. I own the 3.5mm version without a mic, however they do sell a USB-C version called the Moondrop Chu 2 DSP that I think would be worth considering.

The Tangzu Wan'er S.G II Emerald Dragon comes with several wire options: 3.5mm without mic, 3.5mm with mic, and usb-c with mic. I've never heard the Tangzu Wan'er S.G 2, but from what I can tell they seem to be quite popular on this subreddit, and the Emerald Dragon refresh is highly anticipated. I'd probably add those to your list as IEMs to check out too.

(I am sorry).

I know they probably absolutely suck, but, I am cheap and poor. I need the absolute cheapest but best. They are $13.98 on sale right now.

Also, do skinny headphones really work? I will be fine, but I am a teeny tiny bit embarrassed about wearing some big giant headphones, but, I need as much silence as headphones can possibly give.

If they're the best you can afford now, then go for it. I have a similar pair of these, and they dont block lower frequencies very well. It's well worth getting a decent pair of noise canceling headphones once you can afford them.

What is your goal for your purchase? You could just buy some cheap earplugs, you can find reusable ones (just clean them occasionally) for that price if you dont want the bulk

  1. Just trying to find some that work well, are comfortable to wear for a while, and will last, but don’t cost around $100-$300 dollars, as it seems all the best recommended ones do.

  2. Thanks for the suggestion! I tried them, but, headphones are better for me.

I highly recommend altek lansing. Good sound quality. I buy them for $13 at Ross. They’re big black headphones, light, blue tooth, pretty good range (not amazing, but several yards) and last a looooong time. They’re pretty good at working despite me dropping them all the time.

Question: What are the best headphones for music? (Sorry if this might be repetitive)

Posted by flaming_p1e · in r/HeadphoneAdvice · 7 months ago

I’m currently using earbuds and I don’t feel like they’re really effective in my music listening.

I’m looking for a somewhat affordable solution around (40 - 90 bucks) with really good on the go travel (home, work, etc).

(I listen to all types of music so I’m looking for headphones that benefit all genres [idk if this helps])

As for recommendations I believe the current meta for that price is truthear hexa.

best budget headphones

Key Considerations for Budget Headphones

  1. Sound Quality: Look for headphones that provide a balanced sound profile. Read reviews to find models that excel in bass, mids, and highs.

  2. Comfort: Ensure the headphones have comfortable ear pads and an adjustable headband, especially if you plan to wear them for extended periods.

  3. Durability: Check for sturdy construction materials. Headphones with a good warranty can also indicate reliability.

  4. Battery Life (for Wireless): If you prefer wireless options, aim for headphones with at least 15-20 hours of battery life on a single charge.

  5. Connectivity: Consider whether you want wired or wireless headphones. Wireless options often come with Bluetooth, while wired headphones can provide a more stable connection.

  6. Additional Features: Look for features like built-in microphones for calls, noise isolation, or sweat resistance if you plan to use them for workouts.

Recommendations:

  • Anker Soundcore Life Q20: These over-ear headphones offer excellent noise cancellation, up to 40 hours of battery life, and great sound quality for around $60.

  • TaoTronics SoundLiberty 92: If you prefer true wireless earbuds, these provide good sound quality, decent battery life (up to 32 hours with the charging case), and are often available for under $50.

  • Sony MDR7506: A classic choice for those who prefer wired headphones, these are known for their excellent sound quality and comfort, typically priced around $100 but often found on sale.

Choosing any of these options will give you great value without breaking the bank!
