TL;DR
High-Damage Combo Characters
Nina is highly recommended for her exceptional combo damage, achieving impressive numbers even without rage or stage gimmicks [1:2]. Lee is another character praised for his ability to carry opponents across the stage, ensuring long and rewarding combos
[1:4]. Other characters like Bryan, Kazuya, and Paul also have technical combos that can be satisfying to execute
[1:3].
Easy Execution with High Damage
For players seeking easier execution but still wanting high damage, Leroy is a great choice. His combos are straightforward and don't require much effort [2:1]
[2:2]. Fahkumram is another character who can deliver significant damage without relying on walls or special conditions, making him suitable for those looking for powerful yet simple combos
[2:4].
Visually Appealing Combos
Lars and Kunimitsu are highlighted for their visually stunning combos. Lars has been admired since Tekken 6 for the cool look of his combos, which have only improved over time [3:1]. Kunimitsu, despite being annoying to play against, offers combos that are aesthetically pleasing
[3:4]. Lili's gymnastics-inspired combos also add flair to her gameplay
[3:7].
Community Resources
For those interested in learning more about combos, there are resources available such as YouTube channels that provide breakdowns of character combos from the beta [5:1]. These can be valuable for players looking to improve their combo execution and understanding of different characters' capabilities.
Overall, whether you prioritize high damage, ease of execution, or visual appeal, Tekken 8 offers a variety of characters to suit different preferences and playstyles.
I know this could be a dumb question, but among other topics around character fundamentals, I find combos to be the most enjoyable part of Tekken, both landing and learning them.
With that in mind, what would you guys say is the most rewarding character when it comes to high damage combos, including wall and normal combo damage?
Meaning, if you were to suggest a character that is or could be in the next DLCs of Tekken 8, that revolves around combos, what would it be?
For example, my choice in Tekken 7 was Akuma or Nina.
I don't care about the difficulty gap, since I enjoy it.
T8 Nina combos are ssss+++. Her damage is crazy high.
We're talking 89 dmg from a 12 dmg df2 without rage, heat, walls, or any stage gimmicks.
She gets 97 dmg from her i15 b1+4.
Damn, finna label that woman.
Bryan, Kazuya, Lee, Nina, even Paul has some technical combos in this game.
Lee. Mf carries you to a wall, every time, guaranteed. Even on wall-less stages.
Every time I launch someone, "We goin on a trip, buddy. Strap in, it'll be a loooong combo."
Unbiased, of course.
Unbiased, of course.
As every loved thing in this world.
Ever since T5, even though I am not very good at him, I always enjoyed Lee combos. Specifically, the b2-f motions. There's just a very good feeling in landing them in succession.
Nina or Lee probably.
My scenario is that I don't play too regularly, and so whenever I pick the game back up I constantly forget the more advanced combos and scenario-specific things to do with situations like wall enders, stage breaks etc.
I've gotten Jack to Tekken God as my main and pretty much stagnated there/can't get any higher so wanting to switch things up for the time being. I like 'simpler' characters and ideally long reach (I played Gigas in Tekken 7, RIP my sweet prince), but that's pretty limiting in T8. Tried Kuma for a bit but his arms/reach are surprisingly short on a lot of moves than you'd think.
Have briefly tried Shaheen, Paul, Claudio, Bryan and Lars and was going to lean Shaheen or Paul but looking at their combos with all these crouch cancels and micro-dashes and stuff I know I'll never be able to pull off makes me want to look elsewhere. Same deal with Bryan where I just can't pull off Jet Upper punishes quickly enough mid-match.
Are there any other obvious characters I might be missing? Fakhumram maybe? (I haven't bought him yet though). Or maybe Dragunov? Would prefer a male character just because I find most of the female voice effects a bit grating.
Any advice appreciated, thanks!
Try leroy he has easy high dmging combos
Hadn't even thought about Leroy, might give him a spin. Are his combos pretty easy to pull off?
Ez pz. No effort at all. I mea. Hardest thing you can do is qcf2 which is bufferable. Beside that he has different routes too with db1,3 or pick up with standing 4 or f4.
Fahkumram gets absurd damage without needing Walls, Rage, or Heat if you can get his blue sparks out consistently.
You don't have that many options if you're looking for easy execution-high damage characters that are specifically Male.
Jack/Kuma/Fahk are your best bets, maybe try Fahk since his main BnB is the like the same for most launchers. It takes a negligible amount of Execution compared to the older male characters, it's something you can def get down in a day or two (the blue spark df3~4).
Another character that's sorta straight forward but not quite EZ is Paul, his highest damage would def require some work.
Fahk does have long reach and pretty high damage.
Yeah but not easy high damage, since for his really damaging routes you need to blue spark 3 times in a row… long reach, easy dmg would be clive
Jun,she hit like a fuckin truck
This is only about the looks of the combo.
I personally think that Neegan, Lili, and Claudio have some of the worst, to me they are boring and they don't have the same "oomph" that the other characters have in theirs.
The characters that I think have the best looking combos include: (not in particular order)
What do you guys think? Whose combos do you love and hate the most?
Eh all mishima combos are boring.
But...Lars? We love a Lars combo.
Mishima combos are not boring but rather hard but we all have opinions so 🥂🤷🏻♂️
Boring to look at. As another redditor said, pewgf combos are only good to tekken players because we know theyre hard to do - but they look boring af.
Devil Jin has some cool ass combos and boring ones too!
Jin and miguel look lame as hell
Yeah and most of Jin combos are literally the same(except f4, f4 is pretty sick)
Watch some CBM matches. He does BNB combos, but he also does some crazy stuff with Jin.
>f4 is pretty sick
Spoken like a true Jin main.
bf2,3,f3 is so pretty. That string has such a cadence to it, I can't explain why I like it so much.
Do you know what's lame? Devil Jin's 1+4 pickup after a hell sweep. I hope they give DJ something new in Tekken 8 :/
Lili has really pretty combos imo lol. She a gymnast after all. She sorta flips around like Kuni
Pewgf combo tbh pretty boring to see. It's only look interesting because community know it's a special thing to see it being executed
Negan combos are shit
He knees you all the day and it’s boring
on my opinion are these ones.
for one reason, most of the combos i've seen of them AREN'T loops
and for me, the mf with the most skillfull and saucy combos is 4geta, without any doubt.
No way no one mentioned Gohan, his combos are magical
Master Roshi, 100%. His combos are such a sight to behold.
Next would be Ginyu for sure, Goku Black, and Nappa. I love seeing those guys do combos more than anything
for me the best combo trio is, 4Geta, GokuSsj and Goku Black, but your trio is great too
I'm surprised no one talked about Ginyu, he has some of the most beautiful combos although everyone use the same ones for some reason
some dudes mentioned ginyu, i'm surprised no one said 4geta
Personally I don't like 4geta I really think his combos are boring ngl
I see a lot of posts about what the character combos are. I know the beta is about to end but I just want to let people know there's a YouTube channel named cupui that has combo breakdowns of the beta characters. Hope that helps. Cheers!
Ive watched a few of them. Definitely on my radar since they're putting notations.
I’m asking this question because I’m trying to learn Jin right now and learn his Sample Combo 4 and Sample Combo 6 and they’re really hard to pull off. I’m trying to find characters where their combos are easy to execute. Can you guys list them?
Katarina is really easy to me at least. King and mardurk are my favorite easy go to for the men. The hardest character that makes me want to rip my face off is master raven!
Noctis has the easiest execution for actual complete combos(launcher>filler>screw>ender) but if you count katarina 44444444...as a combo then for sure there are character like that.
Noctis in particular was literally made as a bait character for FF fans to get into tekken so he's super easy to play and overall a very good one to start with if you struggle with execution.
Shaheen, I recommend looking up a combo guide rather than following samples though
noctis.

Do note that the Sample Combos are not always a good source of actual combos. They are often suboptimal, and often it isn't even as if the optimal combos are any more difficult. Very weird.
In fact in general many characters have a lot of variations of their BnB that you can choose from. As a result you can often pick the one that just happens to fit your style best [or you think looks cool]. Watch a few different combo videos and you should get a few options.
Note that often the difference between an 'easy' and an 'optimal' combo is only 5 to 10 damage. That is both a lot but also not that much. If you watch a lot of tournament players they will often opt to do the easy combo in order to assure the damage over the optimal ones, usually pulling out the optimal is a straight flex.
eg. Claudio has a bunch of combos off his normal hit launcher that do higher damage or are fancy [jab cancels, instant ff4, buffering WR2, and other things I am sure have no meaning to you right now] but in just about every tournament I see the Claudios use the f3 generic combo ending in b4,2. It is legitimately one of the easiest combos in the game but it is just so reliable and ends with him getting starburst so there is no reason to try and do something more technical and risk dropping it.
Also note while getting used to the game you can do 'lame' versions of combos. For example Asuka has launch, ff2,3 1 2,1,1+2 S! WR2,1. A lot of people find the ff2,3 really hard to land [I am, uh, adequate at the game and still find it a bit wonky] so it isn't uncommon for newer players to just skip it and go straight into the 1, 2,1,1+2 etc because let's face it: some damage is better than no damage early on.
Once you get used to the basic combo structure of the game most Bnbs are relatively straightforward. Some will feel more organic than others and that can help determine whether a character is right for you. For example Paul has launch, b3 3,2b 4 S! whatever and I find going from b3 to 3,2b awkward so I tend not to use him as much anymore.
Some easy characters I can think of:
Miguel taught me and my friend how to do combos. He has a bit of everything, including stance transitions, but he is also pretty flexible and one of those 'everyone has their own favourite bnb' style characters from what I've seen.
Claudio is a pretty simple character to pick up in general and he can teach you a lot of fundamentals in the game. The better you get the more you can appreciate his bullshit powerful tools but he is also a challenging character because he is limited option wise.
Leroy is... lol. He is just silly. But his combos are all pretty easy because of course they are.
These three in my eyes offer an okay balance of easy to learn Bnbs with the option to get a little more fancy as you go along. Like Claudio has a few flex combos off of his f1+2,1+2 combo starter that you can play around with, Leroy has qcf2 stuff, etc etc.
[Note: I am aware I am using a lot of jargon and the Tekken notation and it is fine if it doesn't make sense yet. I figured I'd just introduce some of the formatting if you haven't dealt with it yet, hopefully the basic gist still comes across.]
Thank you for this!
i'm specifically looking for dante combos, like the example i gave above by Hikaren GuAn, but feel free to share videos containing other characters
I'm not sure, it's much easier to pick my favourite than the best, or craziest.
Anyway, Bilibili comboes are criminally underrated https://m.bilibili.com/video/BV1sY4y1J7jG
oh man, i seriously need to get on Bilibili. and btw, that vid was CRAZY. what kind of calculations is this mad man doing inside his head? i can't imagine how long it took to finally get this combo right, especially with the timing on Maximum Bet. environmental combos are on a completely different level. do you have anything for DMC5 Dante tho?
I recently watched this one and thought it was really good.
oh i've seen this video before. he's got some nice free styles honestly. do you have anything for DMC5 dante?

https://youtu.be/hjsuGB3S92Q?si=LUssZdLelJfnOxkC
Always really liked these. Maybe not the sickest gameplay but the 2000er Editing and music i have a software spot for.
oh yea, i've seen brea's video before. sickest intro ever. do you have anything for DMC5 dante?

sorry everyone, i forgot to specific DMC5 Dante, not just any DMC game. i'm trying to look for any ideas in DMC5
Hit's specific combo where he loops his auto-combo. I know he's working with what he has, but damn.
He used to be able to do the loop, but after the recent patch the loop is gone. They increased the knock back of the auto-combo on the wall just enough where the second one doesn’t hit.
Really? Sorry, hard to keep up sometimes. Was that the same patch they let him OTG with 214H?
Heavy, HEAVY disagree on blueku. He ’s flashy asf in the right hands.
same. HEAVY disagree. Blueku is that guy
Flashy af
I know, he has some really cool combos, but for most users of blueku I've seen, his combos are just loops.
Among the other ones I put in, he's the one with less ugly combos, I really like some one them.
Ngl OP you have terrible taste lmao
>Just cap bro
ftfy
If bad taste was a competition, you’d be the winner
My vote goes to Kazuya, seeing specialists like Choksae or Crazydongpal doing weird combos like ewgf, db4 (the low kick), to b 2 1 is hilarious and really cool to see. He has lot of screw and combo enders that are versatile and useful for every situation, from wall carry, oki etc, compared to some characters like Anna.
Combo diversity is actually a bad thing. A character that needs a lot of different combos for various launchers is more difficult than a character who can use one combo off of every launcher.
How is that a bad thing? All that means is A Character is more challenging than B Character. If every character had only one combo route for every launcher the game would be MK11.
There's more experienced players and new players. There's Yoshi mains and there's Shaheen mains. Nothing wong with any. Some are more straightforward and others allow for experimentation. This is a game at the end of the day. When they don't bloat the game with nonsense, more options are always a plus.
I didn't meant that combo diversity as a whole is bad. Just that lack of combo diversity is an attribute of a top tier character. All other things being equal, a character that can do 1 combo off of every launcher is a better character than one that has 5 different combos based on different launchers.
Look at top tier characters like S1 Dragunov, S1 Jack, Kazumi. They all have one thing in common: They're simple characters. This reduces decision fatigue, which makes them optimal tournament characters. Meanwhile a character like Jin has a too many great moves. Characters like Dragunov, Paul, and Leroy all share the attribute of having 1-2 combos that cover all of their launchers.
People are downvoting you but I think your statement holds, too much combo diversity makes a character harder to learn, which (if you are someone who gravitates to easiear characters [and there is nothing wrong with that]) can be a bad thing; But too little diversity makes the gameplay a bit stale.
Variety is good, different characters for different people.
Oh no, complexity
Look at any staple combo video. You'll find most of them (including stuff like Blasted Salami breakdowns) structured in a way that lays out a single combo and then all the launchers that it works with.
Fact is, the combos will always gravitate towards one of several attributes: Difficulty, Damage, Okizeme, or Wall Carry. Typically, you can only choose one of these. Any character where a specific combo option gets you more than one of these is a great character. For example, getting combo damage and wall carry is a big reason why characters like Lars, Dragunov, and Julia shine in walled stages.
Eliza has many combos as well and many wall/cross over setups.
I don't know who has the most, but I'll wager Devil Jin has the least.
