Best Fitness Centers in Seoul

Calisthenics Parks

For those interested in outdoor workouts, Hyochang Park is recommended for its calisthenics equipment. It offers pull-up bars and dip stations, making it a suitable location for bodyweight exercises [2:1]. While many parks in Seoul have equipment geared towards older adults, Hyochang Park stands out for fitness enthusiasts seeking more dynamic workout options.

Kettlebell Sport Gyms

Finding gyms that offer kettlebell sport facilities can be challenging in Seoul, as they typically require membership or class enrollment. However, 4TP Fitness was mentioned as a potential option to explore [3:1]. It might be beneficial to contact gyms directly to inquire if they allow access outside of scheduled classes [3:4].

Cruisy Gyms

While the concept of "cruisy" gyms isn't widely discussed, some users suggest exploring areas like Jongno3ga, Sillim, and Itaewon for a social gym experience [4:1]. These locations may offer opportunities to meet others with similar fitness interests, though specifics on gym facilities are not provided.

Gyms in Jung-Gu/Namsan Area

For those staying near Jung-Gu and Namsan, the YMCA near Jongro 3ga station is suggested. This facility may cater to weightlifting and cardio routines, and possibly includes amenities like a sauna, spa, or pool [5:1]. It's advisable to visit or contact the YMCA to confirm the available services and membership options.

Ssireum Training

If you're interested in trying Ssireum, Korea's traditional wrestling sport, you can find information through the Korea Ssireum Association's website [1:1]. This could be an exciting cultural and physical activity to explore during your stay in Seoul.

Calisthenics Parks in Seoul

Posted by Rykka · in r/CalisthenicsCulture · 12 days ago

Anyone here live in Seoul and know of any good calisthenics parks here? Ideally around Hongdae area. I’ve been walking around and specifically targeting parks but have yet to find anywhere that has pull-up bars. Most of the “calisthenics parks” here just have those machines for old people.

Alternatively if there are also Calisthenics specific gyms that would help too.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

It’s not common, so my guess is that you would need to contact the gyms that offer classes directly.

thanks! Not looking for a class though, just a gym where I can walk in where there are bells. TY tho!!

That’s what I mean. Gyms dont typically offer that, so you may want to contact one that has equipment for classes and explain your situation.

To my knowledge, there are no such gyms offering open times. Generally, they want people to go in for a class/ buy a membership. Only people I know who open access were the coaches who work there. That being said, maybe try 4TP fitness

Cruisy gyms in Seoul?

Posted by Total_Anonymous911 · in r/gaysian · 2 months ago

Traveling to Seoul, South Korea in September for about two weeks.

I'd love to be able to keep my fitness routine and be able to hit the gym. If there are any week passes that is reasonable priced that would be great. If not then I'll just do my pushups and pull ups outdoor.

I know in other Asian countries like Thailand or Hong Kong you have pretty good gyms that happen to be cruisy too where fit asian guys meet up in the sauna after a good gym session

Of course this would be just a bonus. My priority would be to find a decent gym.

Gyms recommendations around Jung-Gu/Namsan Area?

Hello! I'm (24F) staying in Seoul with my bf for half a year soon and I want to keep up with my gym routine. May you recommend some gyms around Jung-Gu and Namsan Area? I like weightlifting and cardio in general. Plus if it has something like a sauna, spa or pool, but not necessary. Ty in advance!

Just get some rings and look for a tree branch, swing set, basketball hoop, etc.

Make your own calisthenics park.

Han River has a nice outdoor pullup and stuff along with nice scenery for walks and runs

This is actually solid advice tbh, rings are super versatile and you can literally use any sturdy horizontal bar or branch. Way more portable than hunting for the perfect park setup too

How's the fitness industry in Korea these days?

Posted by Bostonnicke · in r/korea · 4 years ago

I lived in Seoul for almost a year long time ago. Also a year in China. Since then I've been saving to either start my own gym or become co-owner of an existing one. I'll try to visit there this year but travel seems to be restricted still for most places (I'm vaxed BTW).

Anyone here into fitness much? Or know someone who is? I'd love to chat at get more info! I've been in the fitness industry for 15 years as a trainer and manager so very experienced. I just prefer the lifestyle culture of Korea (and China) over USA and hope to end up at there.

Thanks!

Coffee shops, fried chicken restaurants, and gyms are probably the most oversaturated markets in Korea.

Working out is very big here. Most decent neighborhoods will have good gym saturation. There are also several types. You've got run of the mill gyms, woman focused gyms, personal training only gyms, pilates/yoga, crossfit, 24 hour operation etc...

Have you ever been to a cafe in Korea? Gyms are basically like that but with exercise equipment. Think of them as cafes that don't have traditional tables and chairs; instead, you relax on gym equipment while talking to your friends and looking at your phone.

Looking for a good gym in Sinchon

Preferably a gym that also has a stair master and classes you can join, but if not, that's fine. Also if you have any pilates facility recommendations I would be really grateful too! Thank you!

I haven't been to too many of them, but it really depends on your area more than anything. Seoul is HUGE! I could recommend one and it could be an hour or more away. Also, do you speak Korean? Most have English speakers, but it's always good to check in. If you could be more specific, I could run a search and make a few calls.

There are many beautiful boxes that have trained regional athletes, but it depends how far you want to travel and what languages everyone is comfortable with.

Do you know if Limelight or 4TP are to far from Myeongdong?

They are both about 40 minutes from myeongdong station. 4tp has a few transfers from train to bus. Limelight has a bus that goes straight there.

I lived in Seoul for a few years and my favorite boxes were CrossFit Limelight and CrossFit 4TP. 4TP is English friendly and HUGE for Seoul. Lotta boxes and some are pretty small with shit floors.

wow just watched a walk through video that place is HUGE for most boxes period.

I don't speak korean. I made a search on Instagram and yes, Limelight and 4TP seemed good (and the only who answer my DM's). I tried to contact Gangnam but I had no answer. I will stay in Myeongdong area. If you can recommend some box near, it would be great!

Do you know any good restaurants in Korea?

If anyone is on the "Foreigners in South Korea" Facebook group, you'll know what I mean. I'm only in there to troll the people who post.

"I have a job opening. It is work. You will work. I have rice. PM me."

"I need apartment."

"What is good restaurant."

Like, dude, you just asked all 50 000 people, SPREAD ACROSS KOREA, this question. It's so completely useless.

Only people in Seoul ask questions like this because they forget the rest of Korea exists.

If you find a gym which is open 7 days a week, you could try negotiate a weekend only deal. I know a few in the military who negotiated something like this so they can work out on leave near their home.

You won’t find weekend only memberships, unless you want to pay per day.
