TL;DR
Keybind Recommendations
Several players have shared their keybind setups, emphasizing the importance of personalization. Common adjustments include mapping frequently used actions to easily accessible keys such as Q, E, R, and Z [2:1]. Some players prefer using alternative keys like Tab or the mouse wheel for specific actions
[2:3]. It’s crucial to find a setup that feels comfortable and intuitive for you.
Sensitivity Settings
Finding the right sensitivity settings is essential for improving aim and overall gameplay. One user recommended starting with 800 DPI and adjusting in-game sensitivity to around 7.5% for both X and Y axes [1:5]. For aiming, some players suggest keeping ADS (Aim Down Sights) sensitivity lower to improve accuracy
[3:3]. Experimenting with these settings and gradually adjusting them based on your performance can help you find what works best for you.
General Gameplay Settings
Gameplay settings can also impact performance. Turning off features like "Auto-Move to Interaction Target" might enhance control [2]. Watching tutorial videos on YouTube can provide additional insights into optimizing your settings
[3:5],
[2:6].
Switching from Controller to Keyboard and Mouse
For players transitioning from controller to keyboard and mouse, it's important to take time to adjust sensitivity and keybinds. Building muscle memory with consistent sensitivity across games can be beneficial [4:1]. While default keybinds may work for some, exploring custom setups can lead to improved performance
[4:2].
Monitor Settings for Competitive Play
Competitive players using specific monitors like the XL2546K should consider enabling features like DyAc and experimenting with FPS modes to optimize visual clarity and responsiveness [5:1],
[5:2]. These settings can make a significant difference in competitive environments.
FIRST, a rant. skip to the full questions i have below if you don't wanna read this... i would REALLY appreciate it if you could help answer them.
MY DILEMMA
i have never been as egregiously bad at anything as i am at fortnite. i have been violently humbled multiple times. this is really, really eating away at me. i have therefore decided that i will become good at the game. not pro level good, but good enough to be considered good by the average fortnite player who actually tries to be good at the game too.
MY SOLUTION
i will watch a few streams or videos a day to figure out what i should be doing besides running around like a headless chicken in the game. i'm also going to go into the 1v1 maps to practice what i've learned. now before spending loads of time practicing i would like to get the perfect fortnite setup from the get-go so i won't have to re-learn and re-adjust after fixing or upgrading my setup in the future. i also may or may not be hoping that a really good setup will give me a tiny edge.
MY QUESTIONS
answer anything here, you don't have to answer everything if you don't have the time. if you answer and really do try to be helpful i will love you forever, in a platonic way (unless you are devastatingly good looking)
oh and don't take resources / money into consideration. the goal here is to get the best possible setup.
Hay, just wanted to throw my 2cents in there. I have screen shots but I don't know how to put them here.
Okay cus we are on Mac we been trying really hard to figure out how to play and the best fps and everything.. all cloud gaming caps at 60 fps even if your system can handle more then that..BUTTTT we just recently jumped in to nividia GEforce now it’s 20 a month for 100 hours and I am getting 240 fps!
my binds iam always tweaking them .. I try others like online just to see .. my dpi for my mouse is at 3150 cus I am wrist gammer I don’t want to use my whole desk to move my guy around you know.. but that took time to figure out.. are you trying to be competitive too? Or just want to win matches.. I think this matters.. in how much you want to spend..
for me I like to actually earn money that is my intention .. I have been playing for 5 months.. iam 46 and I went from not able to play a game or two without getting dizzy to a 3.8 k/d ratio and top 4.4% .. practice is what matters.. keep practicing… it will help with response time.. aim ect. The thing is Fortnite may change mechanics of the game. Like before snipers had a bullet fall .. now they don’t.. daily practice..
regarding YouTubers and streamers, the main people like nickey and the like .. don’t really help you with suggestions .. they play among each other and even if you paid to get info from them they won’t .. you could watch them to see their mechanics but they won’t share their keybinds.. or what they use or computer set up. Some people have tried to see in like competition … I stream and there are other streamers and small YouTubers that are trying to teach or or share what they learn.. you have to search .. there is a website that supposedly has all the pros key binds and settings but they are all the same seem a bit generic.. like 800 or 1000 dpi when for me that is to slow..
if you have any other questions let me know.. I love to share
I'd imagine the M4 Pro could handle Fortnite on performance mode with fps capped, but I don't think it would handle it better than a dedicated GPU. Fortnite is CPU dependent too, so you'll want to put a little money into both
My setup is overkill for literally any game except for 2... Maybe 3...
CPU - 9800x3d
GPU - 5090 Founder Edition
RAM - 64gb Corsair Vengeance Pro
34" 1440p ultrawide monitor
This mouse
This keyboard
You can put together a Fortnite only PC that would be pretty killer for $400-600
Curious to see the 400-600 Fortnite PC. I have one in that price range built just recently for mostly this game, and packed endgames would be almost unplayable. Regular ranked & creative yea it’ll run okay. This game seems to become more demanding every other month.
If a Switch can play it, you can play it on a lot of computers
What are your specs
Why’d you cheap out on the keyboard and mouse? There’s ones that can objectively make you perform better.
Why do you say they're cheap? Because of price?
The mouse has just the amount of buttons I want. No more, no less
The keyboard is fine
How so ? Per $400-600 computer for FN
PC - Ryzen 7 7800x3d, 4070ti super. 32gb ram at 6000mhz. with 4tb storage.
Monitor - Asus Oled 27" 2560x1440 240hz mounted on a arm.
Mouse - Logitech Superlight 1 with Super Glide skates. Artisan Hien mousepad.
Razer Naga & Razer Basilisk V3 pro. I play other games besides Fortnite. Basilisk is for general browsing around, Naga for MMO's and Superlight for Fornite and other shooters.
Keyboard - Steelseries Apex Pro full size.
Headset - Astro A40's with the mod kit.
I also use a Maxxstick.
Binds -
Q,W,E,R,F - 1 though 5
A - Pickaxe
Z - Jump
S,D,X,C - builds
V - Edit
Left Shift - Sprint,
Left Control - Crouch.
~ - Inventory
Nothing is bound to my mouse. I have scroll wheel reset though. I do not use my side buttons.
Movement changed to arrow keys.
I play on 2560x1440 performance mode with fps capped at 240hz. I have all settings as low as possible and meshes low as well. I've tried playing low on DX12, Not feeling it so I play performance mode. I do also use custom diagonals in the settings.
Controller - Razer Wolverine V3 tournament edition with Inferno KontrolFreeks.
I think in terms of price to performance what I have is extremely good. I think if you factor in the cost of my desk and everything like mouse, keyboard, pc, safe bet is my total setup is around $5,000
I also play on 800dpi 7.5% X and Y. Edit speed 100% build speed 150%.
should my pc be able to run fortnite? i have an intel xeon e5-2689, gtx 1060 6gb, 16gbm of ram. it runs at a stable 60fps but stutters a lot, to the point where its unplayable at all
I'll just dm you photos and screenshots, makes the most sense
Any chance I can hop in that DM chain too? 🙏🏼
Hey! New players here… I wanted to see if anyone had good recommendations for gameplay settings that make things a lot smoother/better. Settings like, “Auto-Move to Interaction Target” which I’ve been told to turn off, or like whether to use classic or action. Obviously a lot comes down to preference, but I’d love some suggestions. Also, I’ve rebounded my ability keybinds 5-+and- already but if anyone has any suggestions for keybinds that make things easier I’d love to hear that as well. Thanks!

Tysm this is exactly what im looking for!
You’re welcome king
I changed the 5,6, keybinds to Q, and Tab. I put my block on the little spiny wheel in between my mouse buttons.
There’s a YouTube video that goes over this. I’ll see if I can find it for you. It helped me tons
I remapped q, e, r, z to my skills, then alt+1, alt+2, I also mapped a skill I use less often or have higher cooldown on the farthest right key on numberpad so it's close to my mouse hand
I remapped q block to shift, and morph run to Ctrl, this is comfortable for me
Hello. I'm new on reddit and fortnite. I want to get better in aiming in fortnite. I have been playing on my nintendo switch. Anybody can help me or suggest me how to set or what's the best aiming settings so i can shoot better please? Thank you! 😊
Probably something like this, but you can adjust the numbers higher or lower depending on your preference. Advanced settings on, 35/35 look sensitivity, 8/8 ADS, exponential.
I might do this lol, I've been looking for better settings
I find it easier to set my aim down sight (ADS) sensitivity low low. You'll get more shots on target
My xbox died before I got into Fortnite content so I actually spent a lot of time streaming from switch. Be patient, you'll get used to the frames and be able to compete. Also welcome to the subreddit, happy to have you along. 😊
Hi, i sugest you to watch tutorial videos on youtube!
Ah yes, i tried but there are so many of them and i got confused. 😅
Hahaha npnp
You mustn't call upon ppl to guide you for this is a spiritual journey you must take yourself to truly unlock your true potential
True, i agree with you. I just dont know how to start it. Hahaha
I bought my first PC, and it's my first time playing Fortnite aside from ps 5. If anyone could help me with the best settings, tips and optimizations I would be thankful.
I’m also thinking about this if anyone can advise on key binds
You don't really need binds for kbm. Defaults are fine
That is crazy!
take time to find your sense. If you are over aiming, slow it down, under aiming speed it up.
You want to find something consistent to for you and then dial it in and use it every single shooter. There will be some exceptions, games where a bit faster is important, games where aiming is the most important and lower sense dominates. Still the difference between your fastest and slowest sense shouldn't be significant so you can build muscle memory.
Keybinds for fortnite are deep and complex and highly personal. There are some lists out there of what each pro uses so you can look at some popular binds but its good to remember what works for some might not work for you.
Hi everyone, I’m a fortnite competitive player and I wonder what are the best settings with the xl2546k for fn comp. Thank you!
Turn on DyAc and go play.
Add on this, you can try the FPS3 mode of your monitor.

See a lot of Posts about Keybinds. Here is some help :)
You have to stay always on your movement binds !
Here are my Keybinds (The best i can recommend) :
Movementbinds : ijkl
Ramp:U Wall:B Cone:Mouse1 Floor:Mouse2
Edit: FN button
Jump: AltGr
Spacebar:Crouch
So you have even more Keys open, H, Ö, P, . , etc.
This Post should help People to find their Keybinds, saw some people on weird combinations.
ijkl is one of the best options, feels weird in the first days but later its a dream
I used ijkl as well because i could hit buttons on the right of spacebar more easily than going over spacebar with my thumb to hit, say, V.
I switched back because eventually i didn't feel the need of extra easy reachable buttons (for some time i thought double movement was gonna be the meta but it didn't), it's really good btw, maximize the amount of keys you can press with all your fingers
same here cant really use V with my thumb, not comfortable
do you not have side mouse buttons? they are literally the best buttons with the quickest actuation, waste if u dont use them. Best binds for em? wall and ramp of course.
also if ur going for the sick unconventional binds for most optimal, might as well take that ads off right click and bind right click to edit.
so your basically doing Q SHIFT M4 M5 with V edit
ye almost but v is only good for small hands
Basically the title. I have a peetty bad laptop, so bad that im convinced that my hopes and prayers have probably played a better part in making it work as opposed to the hardware itself.
So, fellow ultrakillers, bestow onto me the best fps settings so that i can spend time with my gabbie.
Open graphics settings
Click on everything that says "simplier X" or "Disable X"
And probably put all the blood and gore settings on minimum, or disable completely if the game still runs bad.
Hey guys, i need help for fortnite settings. i’ve been messing around with it for 3 weeks now and i can’t seem to settle on it. Everything felt so inconsistent.
Is there anyone here who can share their settings? and what would you recommend? I’ve got Aim assist abuse, Advance recoil and Horizontal assist.
Thank you!
So, for aim abuse to work, you have to keep the bottom number to work in a good range. Try these numbers 60/12. Thank me later
You have to use low values for aim abuse to truly work. Using the high numbers like 150/50 doesnt do anything, to be honest. You have to strafe for the aim abuse to kick in for rotational aim assist. Just wiggling the left stick while shooting go below 80ms for the top number and you will be good
i’ll give it a try. what about the bottom number? for aim abuse right?
Horizontal doesn't do much especially for fortnite. But for advanced recoil assist, if your using the 2.0 mod chip. I'd try between 2-10 depending on the weapon your using.
As for the aim abuse. I used 150 for the top and 10 for the bottom when I was playing and it seemed to do the trick for me. But everyone is gonna have there own perfered sweet spot. So it's worth just tweaking around a bit
I was told by moddedzone chat support that the aim assist isn't supported on fortnite. It doesn't even show this option when I was customizing the controller. You use aim assist? Also, I'm getting this controller for my girl, but I'm afraid of her account getting banned. Is this a possibility if I get her the advanced recoil option?
Personally ive never used many mods on fortnite as ive found alot of them just aren't the best for it. Jumpshot is okay for more open areas
thanks for replying! alright i’ll check it out. Btw what’s the operation mode for both settings?
I decided to give fortnite pc another go since some of my friends finally got their PCs but the thing is I suck with keyboard and mouse, I know I can continue playing with a controller but I really want use keyboard and mouse.
use your pinky/thumb as much as possible and put build binds on mouse. If you have three build binds on your mouse, one build bind on your thumb and edit on your pinky. Use scrollwheel reset(search if u dont know) and sprint by default so you can use shift as edit bind
Optimal keybinds could be:
Wall - MB Stair - MB Floor - MB/V Cone - C Edit - LSHIFT
My biggest problem is using mouse keys for building (or just in general) feel weird to me, I have the g502 but I hardly use the buttons (for anything useful at least) on any game. I guess I just need more experience with it
i never understand this, it feels weird to you until you practice, the guitar felt weird to me as it will do to anyone who first picks one up but now it feels natural. people who just go with what feels comfortable right off the bat end up with really shit keybinds
My binds (mind I'm using RDFG as my movement keys so it's a bit different):
Edit: T
Floor and ramp on mouse side buttons
Wall: E
Cone: S
It’s daddy pig switching to keyboard
M4/5 - ramp or floor, Q - wall, f - edit, l-shift - cone
c or v wall and it's perfect
Put ramp and floor on mouse buttons. Cone and wall can be E,Q,F. I tilt my keyboard like Tfue which makes CVBNM really easy to hit with my thumb. I edit with V.
Use numbers for weapons
Caps lock is inventory, N is Map.
I think these bonds are really good, can do W+D 90s easily and edit with full movement
I recently switched over to keyboard and mouse, what keybinds should I use? I can't find good ones
Whichever ones are most comfortable and accessible by you
Just copy a streamer’s binds, then adjust them as you see fit
I use Q to switch to building and side buttons on the mouse to switch build types.

Key Considerations for Fortnite Keyboard Settings:
Key Bindings:
Sensitivity Settings:
Edit Controls:
Visual Settings:
Game Mode:
Recommendation: Start with a popular key binding layout used by professional players, such as using F1-F4 for building and Q for your first weapon. Adjust your sensitivity based on personal comfort and practice regularly to find what feels best for you. Remember, consistency is key, so stick with your settings for a while before making changes.
