TL;DR
Weber Grills
Weber is a popular choice among gas grill enthusiasts, often praised for its durability and longevity. Many users report using their Weber grills for over a decade with minimal maintenance [1:1]
[2:1]. The Genesis series, in particular, is highlighted as a reliable option that can withstand various weather conditions and still perform well
[2:5]. However, some users feel that while Weber is a solid choice, it may not be the best in terms of quality compared to other brands
[1:3].
Napoleon Grills
Napoleon grills are frequently recommended as a top alternative to Weber. They are noted for their quality construction and excellent warranty, making them a worthwhile investment [1:5]
[3:5]. Users appreciate the craftsmanship and performance of Napoleon grills, with some preferring them over Weber due to perceived better quality
[1:7]
[2:4]. The Prestige series from Napoleon is particularly recommended for those looking for high-end features
[5:3].
Broil King Grills
Broil King is another brand that receives positive feedback for its robust build and grilling capabilities. Users who have switched from Weber to Broil King report satisfaction with the performance and durability of these grills [3:2]
[5:2]. The Regal series, with its lifetime warranty on the oven and 15-year warranty on other parts, is specifically mentioned as a great option
[5:4].
Other Considerations
For those living in RVs or needing portable options, the Weber Q series is highly recommended for its compact size and reliable performance [4:1]. Additionally, Blackstone griddles are suggested as versatile alternatives for cooking a variety of foods outdoors
[4:4]. When choosing a grill, consider factors such as available space, budget, and specific cooking needs to find the best fit for your lifestyle.
I have had a couple of Weber gas grills and they are fine but I don’t find them to be great quality long term.
I would prefer to do charcoal on the next grill but am probably going with gas for various reasons.
Is the Weber the best gas I can find or are there other better option for similar price?
>I have had a couple of Weber gas grills and they are fine but I don’t find them to be great quality long term.
Me and several other people around here are super happy with the quality of Weber gas grills. Have you considered that maybe it's a maintenance issue? Do you clean your grill out regularly. Ash can be corrosive, especially if you have moisture as well.
Other than the flavorizer bars, I haven't seen any deterioration on my grill in 4 years. I'm about due to replace my flavorizer bars, but that's to be expected and it's easy and not super expensive if you only have to do it every few years.
I've heard of the cast iron grates rusting but I don't baby mine and they look great. Never seen a hint of rust, but I use it constantly, never sits a whole week without being used at least once.
Seven years on my Weber and about to swap some parts for routine maintenance. Cleaning it and keeping up with it makes it the workhorse I need.
I wouldn’t say Weber is the best but it is the most popular and they do have a very good warranty. Problem is most big box stores don’t carry more than a few different fast selling inexpensive brands because that’s what sells. You need to go to a store that just sells grills or an online retailer like BBQ Guys Kick Ass Grills The BBQ Depot just to name a few. The good thing about the online retailers is all the information you want about each grill is right there fuel type, construction, accessories, warranties, etc… You’d be surprised there’s so much more available than just Weber. Like someone already said there’s Napoleon that entered into Webers price point a couple of years ago and I noticed a couple of the big stores started carrying the brand. It really boils down to your budget because once you get over that $1,000 level there really is a lot to choose from and then there’s also the absolute absurd insanely priced grills that are just fun to look at. Whether you go with Weber or Napoleon you can’t go wrong they’re very solid grills for the price.
There are tons of options to choose from- although I will admit Weber is an excellent brand. Before switching to a Weber, I used a Napoleon and it did great as well. You can try looking at more options here since this is were I initially found my grills.
Look at Napoleon too.
I'm no grilling expert, but...
Agreed. I have both. Love both, but think the Napoleon is better quality. Can only talk about the the kettles though. I don't use cookers to bbq.
Can’t say much about other brands, but I have had Weber my whole life and so has my dad. I actually have one my dads 97’ Weber genesis and it’s probably the best grill I own. Could easily go another 20 years
I finally have the space and I’m looking to get a gas grill. Pls don’t yell at me and tell me to get charcoal. I’ve cooked on gas grills my whole life and they’ve always been great. The convenience is worth it to me, especially since most of my grilling is smaller meals. I don’t want to have to go through a bunch of prep to grill a steak for my wife and I or make a burger. My dad cooks on charcoal and we go over occasionally for bigger BBQs.
Is there much of difference between brands? Can I just go to Home Depot and pick up the cheapest 4 burner they got? Or is it worth it to spend a little more?
I have a weber spirit II and have zero complaints. Would recommend
I am pretty sure my ex-wife is still using the Weber that we bought in like 2003.
I swapped out the burners once, and replaced the grates once.
If I was going to buy another gas grill, it’d be Weber for sure
I’m cooking on an 18 year old Weber Genesis. I recently replaced an igniter, fuel line, “flavorizors,” and grates to the tune of like $200? I’m expecting another decade out of this thing.
I had a 15 or so year old genesis that, along with my tv died in spring 2020. Think they got the flu. Replaced it with another genesis. OP the best grill for you is the one you’ll use! That said, I have too many 🙃
Just did the same with my 12 year old Weber Genesis this fall. The thing is a tank and has survived multiple moves around the country. I didn’t get the official Weber replacement parts but went with the highest grade stainless I could find on Amazon for roughly $200 and expect it to last another 10 years easily.
Napoleon
Yea, I have a very nice offset smoker and 2 pellet grills, but I've thought about getting a gas grill for occasional quick weeknight meals. Did some research and Napolean are bad ass
Expensive but worth it. Had the Webers. Don't last as long.
I second the Napoleon! But you will have to go to a grill shop. They aren’t sold in every hardware store in town.
No they're not. The best. Always starts.
I've had my Weber Genesis for 10 years. I keep it covered but otherwise treat it like shit - it's always outside year-round in 4-season weather and I never clean the box. It's given me zero problems other than having to swap the cast iron grates for stainless grates (but I would have done that anyway because the stainless is more durable).
It's a tank and I'd recommend it to anybody in the market.
At an entry point of <$1000 for something that'll last a decade or more it's a pretty sound investment. Replacement parts are readily available, too. I theoretically could just replace a few parts on my current grill and have her for another decade but I figure this one has had a good run already.
Cheapest 4 burner is going to fall apart in 3 years. It will have hot and cold spots, flare ups, and not be fun to cook with.
I'd rather get a used Wber/Napolean etc than settle for a "cheap" brand.
I’ve always known Weber as the top brand but wanted to see if I could get a Kenmore and if it will be sufficient. I had a char broil charchoal grill but it didn’t last a year.
100% Broil King. Was always a Weber man til I bought a Broil King...that's all I'll buy now. Incredible grill
I second broil king. It’s fantastic. Napoleon as well but they are much more expensive
Which one do you have?
100% broil king. Wast at each moment a weber sir til i hath bought a broil king. yond's all i'll buyeth anon. Incredible grill

Weber is still solid but not the king it once was. I went with a napoleon this time around, strongly considered a blaze but it was too pricey in the end.
I recently bought a grill after a TON of research. Reddit and most internet forums are a poor place to find information. There's a few shills for every brand that show up in every Google search it's really hard to sift through all the disinformation. I found YouTube MUCH more helpful. There's lots of people reviewing thier grills after years of ownership. Regardless I ended up with a Napoleon in the end for the 15 year warranty.
Honestly. From what I've seen. You get what you pay for. Nothing too cheap is worth it. Like you said, they rust out something serious real fast. Weber has 10year warranty on every grill, just gotta register on their site. Very easy to do. The Weber spirit 3 burner is around $400 and will get the job done. You can look at napoleon grills also.
Napoleon all day, every day.
So yesterday the owner of the park informed me that charcoal grills weren’t permitted in the park. Bummer, because I love my Weber Performer.
What would be your choice of a gas grill, be it boondocking or parked?
I love my Weber Q, but it's only one burner, maybe the Napoleon TRAVELQ PRO285.
Love my Weber-Q. Lasted for years.
That one and the Cuisinart CGG were on my short list. Thanks.
Weber Q all the way. Parts are easy to find, if needed and Weber stands behind their products w good support. Add the Weber cast iron skillet for bacon and additional flexibility. My Q is going on 12 years old and never had an issue….except when I broke the igniter button off - LOL.
I got rid of my portable gas grill in my motorhome and replaced it with a 22” Blackstone griddle. Best thing ever. I can cook almost anything on it now. Great for breakfast, burgers, steaks, chicken, k-bobs, etc. I almost never cook inside anymore.
What a great tip! It has way more BTU’s than the Webber and probably easier to clean and stow away too. I never even thought about a griddle…
I never thought of a Blackstone! Thanks. I’ve actually been thinking about one of those to compliment my Performer at home.
I’m full time and use my 22” almost every day. Between that, my induction cooktop, and instant pot/air fryer we literally never use the propane stove top or oven
For cooking a nice ribeye?🥴
I could cook the ribeye on the BlackStone. But if it’s a nice cut, I’ll probably fire up my Weber Smokey Joe portable charcoal grill.
I concur with this. I also have a 22" Blackstone, and use it for almost everything.
I have the 17” and it’s so versatile but I always want just a little more space. It’s probably perfect for two but if you have a family, go 22” or you’ll regret it like me. The larger one has a second burner I think and I bet that helps too.
Backyard Warriors, I humbly request your input.
I’m looking to get a gas grill for my new home. Already have a charcoal grill. Space isn’t an issue and I’m hoping to use this grill for years to come. Budget is very flexible too.
Any recommendations are greatly appreciated! Thanks!
looking at the Broil King Regal s420; lifetime warranty on the oven, 15 years on everything else
Broil King makes solid grills.
Take a look a Napolean, any thing from the prestige series. High quality, made in NA, great warrenty and parts.
Great grills, these days I would say better than weber.
I bought one of the Rogue Series and couldn't be happier FWIW
Can’t go wrong with a Webber.
Thanks everyone! Awesome suggestions. I really appreciate it.
Weber Genesis 3 Burner is perfect for a family of four.
Napoleon Prestige! Will last a lifetime.
I built mine yesterday! Great warranty and service too. Long warranty=long expected service life.
During unboxing I found a part of the cabinet was bent and paint chipped. I put in a warranty claim and they approved it before I had finished assembling the grill.
Biggest inconvenience is that I need to build my grill twice. Since I like building it's not a big deal.
They ship it out fast also.
I'm into gas grills. My old grill started rusting, so I bought a new one last year. The technology is widely adapted and kinda universal. So specs matter. Burner metal thickness, body material and thickness, how the top pivots and if that'll hold up. Stainless steel is a remarkable upgrade.
I’ve got a Weber Spirit 3 burner, it’s awesome. I’ve had it 4 years so far and feels brand new still in how it performs. Just gotta take care of those cast iron grates and they’ll take care of you.
It’s been my only grill until last week when I got a Weber kettle to start dipping my toes cheaply into smoking and other low/slow cooking.
Second this. I have the spirit 3 burner with side burner and sear burner. Still going strong after something like 5 or 6 years. It's significantly cheaper than the genesis line, and given the good experience I've had with the spirit, I don't know that it'd be worth it to spend more on the genesis (but then again, I've never used a genesis so I can't really compare them)
Propane is awesome for convenience. As well as any accessories.
-Hank Hill
Weber Genesis. Cost more but will last forever and if you ever need parts they are easy to come by.
Just don’t do what I did, which was to neglect cleaning it periodically. Here’s a video 3 hours after I pulled the prime NY strips off. Grease leaked into wood chip bags and caught fire. Could’ve burned my house down.
Looking to upgrade my gas bbq (currently got a George Foreman 4-burner, which is ok but not great).
What's everyone's favourite gas bbq make and model?
Kingsford.
If you really want to BBQ maybe a switch to charcoal or pellet is in your future. BBQ is better than grilling any day.
Weber Spirit gets the job done. Genesis has more bells and whistles though.
weber
I have a Weber Summit and will never spend that much money on a gas grill again..$1500 when new. After about 5 years the inside bottom cabinet started rusting. I've replaced all of the burner tubes, steel flavorizer bars and the interior brackets that all of this mounts to /sits on. If I had known it would rust out I would have spent half as much on a Genesis. I could have bought two of them at this point for what I spent on the Summit
Fellow Dads,
I am coming here for advice. Summer will soon be upon us and I am in the market for a new gas grill. What do you all recommend?
Very happy with the Weber Genesis line. Mines been outside for three years with no cover and aside from the fact that it looks like I clearly need to clean it, no rust and functions the same as it did on day one.
I bought a Weber Genesis E-435 last year to replace my 7 year old and very heavily used $300 big-box store CharBroil. The Weber may have cost close to 5x what my first one cost but it is worth every single penny. I initially wanted to replace mine with a cheaper one, especially because I also have a variety of charcoal grills, a pellet grill, and a smoker... but I'm glad I didn't. Gas grills are just so convenient for weeknights. If you grill a lot, and if money allows for it, try to get a step or two up from the entry level ones at Home Depot.
If you’re in the United States, you can’t go wrong with a Weber Genesis E-335 or above.
Outside the US, the Napoleon of comparable spec would be solid too!
Just got that Genesis on sale at Costco. I've had my original Genesis I in the family for over 20 years. I'm a lifelong supporter of Weber after seeing how well that grill has held up.
Spent the money on a Napoleon 6 years ago and the things a tank. Looks fantastic!
All depends on your budget. Get the most expensive you can if you're keeping it outside, and keep a cover on it. Anything below $500 or so seems to be made out of cheap thun metal.
It’s the time of year you can get one off the curb pretty easy 😆
I liked 4 burner when it was the wife and kids, but now the nest is empty I bought a 2 burner. I don’t like it as much.
I was hoping to come in here and see the top comment be "Charcoal".
You can’t beat the taste of charcoal but I don’t want to mess with it on a weeknight

I love my Weber Spirit 310. Enough space to cook for several people, rotisserie a chicken or rib rack, easy to maintain and parts can all be replaced cheaply when / if they wear out. Awesome grill.
Also great accessories. I upgraded to stainless grates and flavorizor bars, got an electric rotisserie, and a carbon steel flat top griddle that covers the whole cooking area. Smashburgers, family breakfasts, pancakes… it can do everything.
Spirit. 3 burner. Warranty is so worth it. Already on my second pair of grates and burners.
I went down this road about 5 years ago. Everyone is going to recommend a Weber, but in the last 10-15 years all manufacturing went to China and they still rust, or that is what all my research showed. I ended up with the Napoleon brand, and I could not be happier. Stainless steel or cast iron, and most of them have a 10-year plus warranty. Actually just cleaned my 525 yesterday.
Napoleons are really good. I love mine.
I used 2 different Webers for 30 years, then bought a Napoleon P500 with my stimulus money in 2020. I love it!
I think both Weber and Napoleon are great, but I prefer the wavy grates for cooking smaller things like vegetables which I end up doing almost every cook at this point.
Get a Weber Spirit with 3 burners. That should cover all your needs. I've had one for 12 years and it's a beast that just keeps on trucking.
I got a 3 burner spirit 2 10 years ago and it's still my daily driver. Can't go wrong with that but I have heard that the build quality has decreased in the last decade.
How big do you need? You and one other who don't often have guests or limited space on the balcony? A Spirit is the better choice. The Genesis is the next up, mid-size model and can support most. The Summit is the very large, premium model that can be had even as a built in.
All things considered, the Genesis with stainless grates would be my choice.
Weber
Yep, Weber
I just got a Napoleon Rogue and love it so far. The box is way better quality than my previous weber and my charbroil. Lets see how long it lasts but it has 15 year warranty on it on all the parts.
What is the best gas grill to buy on the market. I just want to grill and grill. Nothing over $2000. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You.
If I had a dollar for every time someone asked this, I could buy a Traeger… then realize it’s not gas and cry into my ribs. Go Weber Genesis or Napoleon Prestige and call it a day

I don't know what is "best", but I would just grab a Weber off of FBM, and spend the savings on meat.
I just got a napoleon rogue 525 pro for like $1299 on sale. 4 burners, stainless steel, infrared burner etc. I was looking in the $1200 range so around that price don’t think anything else really beats it
Napoleon Prestige 500. Great grill with a infrared sear burner for awesome steaks.

Key Considerations for Choosing the Best Gas Grill
Size and Cooking Area: Determine how much cooking space you need based on the number of people you typically grill for. A grill with at least 400-500 square inches of cooking area is ideal for most families.
BTU Output: Look for grills with a higher BTU (British Thermal Units) rating, typically between 30,000 to 50,000 BTUs, which indicates good heat output. However, consider the grill's design and efficiency as well.
Material Quality: Stainless steel grills are durable and resistant to rust. Look for heavy-duty grates (cast iron or stainless steel) for better heat retention and flavor.
Burner Configuration: More burners (usually 2-5) allow for better heat control and cooking versatility. Consider models with a side burner for additional cooking options.
Ease of Cleaning: Features like removable grease trays and porcelain-coated grates can make cleaning easier.
Warranty and Brand Reputation: A good warranty (at least 5 years) can indicate quality. Brands like Weber, Napoleon, and Broil King are known for their reliability.
Recommendations:
Weber Genesis II E-310: This grill offers excellent build quality, a large cooking area (513 sq. in.), and a powerful 39,000 BTU output. It features a solid warranty and great customer support.
Napoleon Rogue 425: Known for its versatility and quality, this grill has a 425 sq. in. cooking area, 48,000 BTU output, and includes a side burner. It also has a great warranty.
Broil King Signet 320: This is a budget-friendly option with a solid build, 40,000 BTU output, and a good cooking area (644 sq. in. total). It’s well-regarded for its performance and durability.
Choosing the right gas grill ultimately depends on your specific needs and budget, but these options are a great starting point!
