TL;DR
Product Recommendations
Several users recommended specific products that have helped them manage frizz. Ouidad's whipped curls conditioning mousse and advance climate control gel were highlighted for their ability to provide a strong hold and reduce frizz [1:2]. Moroccan oil was praised for its softness benefits, though it may not enhance curls
[2:3]. It's A 10 leave-in conditioner and Aphogee products were also mentioned as effective in reducing frizz
[3:1],
[3:3].
Styling Techniques
The way you style your hair can significantly impact frizz levels. Some users found that diffusing their hair led to more frizz, so they opted for air drying instead [1:2]. Using a combination of leave-in conditioner, curl cream, and mousse can help maintain definition and reduce frizz
[4:3]. Additionally, using a silicone-based anti-frizz serum in place of oils might help keep frizz at bay
[4:2].
Routine Adjustments
Adjusting your hair care routine can make a big difference in managing frizz. For instance, applying products like gel or mousse while the hair is still wet can help lock in moisture and reduce frizz [2:9]. Some users suggested experimenting with different product orders and application methods, such as using prayer hands or raking techniques to apply products evenly
[1:1].
Understanding Hair Type and Needs
Understanding your hair type and specific needs is crucial when selecting products and routines. Users emphasized the importance of identifying your hair type, porosity, and preferred shopping locations to tailor recommendations effectively [1:3]. It's also helpful to recognize that some level of frizz is natural for wavy or curly hair, and achieving completely frizz-free hair might not be realistic
[2:1],
[2:4].
Additional Tips
For those dealing with frizz due to hair loss, shorter regrowth hair can appear frizzier compared to longer strands [3:4]. In such cases, patience and consistent use of frizz-reducing products can help over time. Lastly, incorporating dimethicone-based products can provide significant improvements in frizz management

Hey! I have finer hair and I've been dealing with a roadblock lately with frizz, greasiness and undefined areas any advice on getting a healthier, softer, less frizzy look still with volume? I'm thinking hair oils but I'm not sure where to start I have my products I use in the pictures. Any advice is appreciated and if you need any information I'm more than happy to share ❤️
What’s your current routine?
Well in the shower I double shampoo and use a scalp scrub, then I condition and every so often I'll use my detox and hair mask and I'll apply products by prayer hands or raking it though brush styling and or finger coiling and sometimes sectioning the top half of my head depending on my time frame but can't say I have a consistent styling routine because I switch up which product order I use to experiment but typically it's been my Miele leave in, styling adding gel and diffusing and I diffuse by hovering and scrunching it to my scalp it just still gets so frizzy 😭
I'm thinking it's my products or maybe that I'm inconsistent with how I style but to be honest I'm not sure of my exact hair type so I'm not sure what products suit my hair best and how to find that out with out spending alot of money
Diffusing gives me a lot of frizz so I either air dry or I diffuse if it’s late at night and then know in the morning I have to refresh with all my products. I think you need better hold products, that gel alone must not be doing it. Try doing leave in, mousse, and then a strong hold gel. Something that gives you a cast. It will help you control the frizz a lot more. I use Ouidad whipped curls conditioning mousse and Ouidad advance climate control gel. Then when my hair is completely dry I scrunch out the crunch with Verb ghost oil on my hands. You might be over drying your hair with double shampoo, try cutting down to once. And only clarify once a week.

This is day 1 hair and it’s the best my hair has looked in a while and it’s still way too frizzy for my tastes :(
Current routine is wash and condition with OGX Biotin & Collagen. I use plenty of bumble&bumble anti-humidity gel oil and air dry. I clarify once or twice a month with Moroccanoil clarifying shampoo
My hair doesn’t really curl, it’s mostly just S-waves but yall are the experts — maybe the solution to my frizz problem is to bring out the curls? Idk what I’m doing lol thanks in advance!!
What frizz? Your hair looks great!
Tons of conditioner (leave in or deep condition) and oil! I love Moroccan oil hair oil, it's a godsend for softness, but can't say it'll help curls.
However mousse definitely might, i love pattern mousse (it's more of a foam!) and might give you some more hold! Seems like you might be looking for definition more than less frizz necessarily.
I've also oddly found redkin acidic bonding products to have an oddly strong effect on my hair curling, so maybe that's an option. (The serum/mask in particular.)
Alternatively I've had luck with less product but satin bonnet like kitsch, especially when it's almost completely dry but maybe slightly damp overnight, which i was using the oaiu foam with (made it very soft but heads up, it has no hold, it's just for air drying curls!) i like the product a lot though, that could also be an option.
Possibly do the wet hair strand protein test and make sure your hair couldnt use some protein.
Do you squish with a microfiber hair towel (like kitsch) first at all? (Especially while soaking wet with products in)
Everything here can be gotten at Ulta/sephora, who both accept used returns!
Definition is definitely what I’m after! Thanks for all these recs, I’m gonna get to work 🕵️♀️
Many have minis too- again all returnable. And don't forget your leave in conditioner on soaking wet hair!
What frizz? I really don’t see any.
I’m seeing it mainly in the midsection of my length. I feel like the waves and curls are forming but not staying intact. That said, these comments are making me realize a) it’s not as obvious to others and b) defeating frizz entirely is a losing battle anyway. Thank you for your feedback 🙏
If my hair had as little frizz as yours, I'd be dancing in the streets!
Is the frizz in the room with us ?
The internet is so annoying because this was the first sentence to plop into my mind and I just knew I was gonna find it high up in the comments.
Your hair is lovely, and I don't see very much frizz at all! When you put in your gel oil after washing, you might want to make sure it's distributed all the way to the ends? Or try a stronger hold product (I haven't used the one you're using, so I don't know how strong it is). Aside from that, I like to wet my hands a little with a spray bottle and gently run them over the frizzier bits to get them to cooperate, then finish with a small amount of hair spray.
Honestly though, wavy/curly hair is naturally frizzy, and you'll drive yourself insane trying to eliminate it completely. It was hard for me to accept this after straightening my hair for years and years, but I've learned not to stress over it. It's not going to look as smooth as straightened hair, and that's ok.
I am also a former diehard straightener so given the other comments I’m thinking maybe my attitude is the problem 💀😂
I've been there and I totally get it 😂
Since hair loss often causes hair to become really frizzy, I was wondering if anyone has figured out a way to fix that. It feels like no matter what products I use, my hair still becomes extremely frizzy, especially when I go outside or do any type of physical activity. Do you guys have any holy grail products or tips?
I use the gisou hair oil, which is the only oil I’ve found that doesn’t make my hair extremely greasy, but it doesn’t seem to do much for frizz. I also got Its A 10 leave in conditioner, which is really nice, but also has not prevented frizz. I don’t want to keep spending tons of money on products that don’t work. 😭
I'm in the same boat. Used Olaplex products last 2 shampoos. Hair looks a bit less frizzy.
Same issue, I have a great head of hair now after taking OM but the frizz is not nice.
Wait I’m curious why does hair loss make hair frizzy?
The regrowth hair is shorter than than the unshedded longer hair, so it looks frizzy in comparison.
Also new regrowth hair can grow in wiry for a couple of shed cycles, than it calms down to your regular hair texture.
Same. Curious
Switching to Aphogee products has calmed down all my frizz. Fwiw I’ve got curly hair and it was pretty outta control! Also sometimes I’ll just use a 100% pure aloe Vera gel to smooth over my hair if I’m wearing it up - it’s great for your scalp and has a medium hold
Thank you for the tips! I’ll check out that brand!
My hair is usually very frizzy/puffy whatever you wanna call it.. its real big & i dont like it like that on me, so im very limited to half up half downs.. the first picture is my hair with little to no product, the 2nd is my usual hairstyle.. but the 3rd and 4th are my most recent washday where i absolutely loved how my hair looked and how well it held up. I only used the products in the last 2 pictures, minimal gel for a few front pieces. Which of these products helped my hair so much?
Use a silicone based anti-frizz serum in place of your oils.
I do leave in conditioner, curl cream, and mousse.
Use gel
gel or thicker cream then break the cast with oil
also allowing your hair more volume won’t help with the frizz per say but when you’re trying to keep it down like in the last few pics, more volume kinda masks the frizz per say
I want to drop this here incase anyone else is dealing with mild to extreme hair frizz. I’ve been dealing with it for years and have tried so many expensive products and haircare techniques without any luck. I’ve continued using said products but I added the one shown in the last photo. As you can see the frizz is basically gone (for reference I have a fine and dry hair texture). I promise I’m not associated with this brand at all, I just happened to stumble upon this product and I’m so glad I did. Expensive but worth every penny because it’s the only thing that’s actually helped me and Im glad to be done with the search. Hoping this can help anyone with a similar issue!
do you air dry or blow dry your hair? i usually blow dry and have this problem so I’m just curious!
I do both, regardless of whether I blow dry or not tend to have a lot of frizz. Blow drying helped a little to direct the hairs down. My hair in the photos are both after air drying
Did you use it on your roots?
I used one pump on primarily my mids and ends, then I used the residual oil near my roots. Normally I would never do this but for whatever reason the formula doesn’t make my hair greasy or weigh it down even though I have fine hair
Oh cool! Thanks!
I have been dealing with it for about 2yrs weird black thick extremely curly frizzy hair and its been growing alot... Glad u posted 😭
Looks to be mostly dimethicone.
Yes but it’s perfectly safe
Major improvement!! I need this!
I have thin dry curly 2b hair that has frizz that is out of control. We are coming up on summer so it will get worse.. Gels are too heavy for my hair. I need an Antifrizz serum or something. Any suggestions?
Style with a volumizing mousse. Scrunch into wet hair, plop into a cotton t shirt for 20-30 minutes, then take out and dry. Don't touch at all during the drying process. Once your hair is completely dry, scrunch it all again to break the cast and soften the waves.
Hi I would like to know the perfect brands for reducing frizz like leave in conditioners etc. If you can, share some tips on maintaining curlyhair. My routine is usualyy just shampooing twice a week and then using argan oil to soften it but it ends to frizz up anyway.
Hi there! I'm a bot, and I've been summoned to help.
If you have not seen our WIKI yet: Please check it out! It's nearly 100 pages full of curated information to help answer all of your curl-related questions. You can use the included Table of Contents (page 2), the side bar, or CTRL-F to search for keywords and help navigate the document.
Reminder: Curl type is NOT your hair type! Whether you are wavy, curly, or coily - you have texture and you belong here. More than that, your curl type doesn't dictate how you care for your hair. To help your curls thrive, we recommend instead using the wiki link above to learn about your porosity, texture, and density.
If this is a photo submission: Please include your detailed routine for your post to remain active! This MUST include the brands of ALL products used, order of application and technique used to apply them, how you dried your hair, and anything else that you might find useful for people to know.
If you received this message in error: Please disregard this comment! I probably just picked up on a keyword in your title.
Thank you. Wishing you many happy, wonderfully curly hair days!

before we look into styling i really recommend you get a conditioner to use after shampooing. that will moisturize your hair in the shower. Also a clarifying shampoo with sulfates to get rid of any buildup.
next steps are for sure looking into using a gel of some kind if you want to reduce frizz. if volume is something you're concerned with then maybe a mousse might be better for you. Off rip I recommend Aussie's Instant Freeze Gel cause it's cheap (in store at least) and works well. If you don't like how that works maybe try GIOVANNI Mousse Hair Styling Foam cause again, cheap.
for drying, I'm not sure what you do, but I recommend gently scrunching out moisture with a cotton T-Shirt/microfiber towel and then diffusing. if you don't have or don't want to get a hair drier, you can air dry it since your hair is relatively short. you're gonna want to scrunch out any crunch (if you use gel) or massage your roots.
regarding the oil, oil didn't work too well for me and just made my hair greasy so definitely experiment with and without.
Thanks for the info!
I’m especially looking for something to use on my hair to use after it rains and my hair is frizzy. I haven’t tried anything for it before so I am open to any suggestions! Thanks😁
Bumble and Bumble invisible oil. I have short and wavy hair and this almost totally get rid of frizz.
I’m super happy with the ColorWow stuff. It’s a rectangle bottle. You saturate your hair with it and style as usual. I have naturally curly and wear it straight and unless it’s actually raining, it keeps it from frizzing and curling.
is the color wow any good for your hair when you leave it curly?
I haven’t tried it. I have a whole different basket of potions for my curly hair.
Paul Mitchell Super Skinny serum is my ride or die.
depends are you air drying, diffusing or heat styling/ manipulation?🫶
I’m a big fan of the living proof frizz cream for wet hair and the instant deflate for drive. I also just got the smoothing cream from fekkai, that’s also a heat protectant.
My hair is curly/wavy and is extremely frizzy. I’ve tried every basic antifrizz product/gel from my local store, but nothing actually works. Where could I find something that actually eliminates frizz? even just slightly. It is starting to become the bane of my existence. Are there any products out there that work to relinquish frizz?
I just picked up Ouidad Advanced Climate Control products from Costco and it's working pretty well so far.
Which do you recommend?
What they had at costco was a pack that included the shampoo, conditioner and gel. I've been using them all together so I don't know specifically which one works well but I'ver heard good things about the gel from other places.
You're looking for strong hold gel. The strongest you can find. At drugstore prices, the only effective one I've found is Not Your Mother's Curl Talk Hard Hold Gel (NOT the sculpting gel, that one doesn't have much hold). Not sure where you're located but I often find more expensive brands at Marshalls and TJ Maxx for a big discount. I recommend Curlsmith Shine Gel or In Shower Style Fixer, AG Liquid Effects, and Ouidad Advanced Climate Control Stronger Hold Gel (red bottle not white).
My hair is very fine, slightly wavy and tends to go super frizzy, especially in summer. I normally straighten my hair, but would love to embrace its wavy texture! Currently, my routine is just a drugstore shampoo + conditioner, followed by hair oil on the ends before I blow my hair dry. Would love to know if someone has found a product that tames frizz without weighing fine hair down?!
Your hair looks a lot like mine - I've started skipping the conditioner in shower and using a spray leave-in conditioner (lately Humectress) and texturizing spray before I air dry it.
This is the way. I haven’t found a texturizing spray I like yet, but the leave in conditioner makes a big difference. Doesn’t weigh my hair down nearly as much.
i like to use sea salt spray for texture
I'm still experimenting with which spray I like. Not Your Mother's is the one I keep going back to (because price!) but I like Aveda's the best (of course because it's like $30)
Thanks so much! Off to find thar leave-in conditioner!
We have very similar hair. I live in south tx so frizzy is unavoidable because of the heat and humidity. However, I started treating my hair as wavy instead of straight. I use paraben and sulfate free products, primarily biolage but sometimes use others like arvanzallia or redken. After showering I spray an leave in and COMB out my hair when its wet. Work from ends up to minimize breakage. I use some hair oil and go (im super low maintenance . I have products to use but not on a reg) at night I use a brush that also has boars hair and brush out the day, then put up in a protective style for sleep. Silk pillow cases helped a ton. I grew my hair out and it seemed to ask help with the lions mane. Look for alternative type of hair ties. Mine arent the traditional elastics idk what they are though I can send a Pic. Theyre just flat and circular, not where you can feel the elastic inside the tie.
I have similar hair and find I get best results with a leave in conditioner followed by Curlsmith Bouncy Strength Volume Foam. This is the single best product I’ve ever tried. If I want more hold I add a light gel - Umberto Giannini Curl Jelly is a good one.
Seconding this advice OP! Some kind of hold product is crucial for holding your waves in place and keeping frizz away. — Foam is the absolute best: it’s ultra light, and super easy to use. Though I haven’t tried the Curlsmith Foam yet… Now I want to!
For this routine, do you dry after? I'm trying really hard hard to move to an air dry routine because I'm finding what I have to go through to straighten my hair just exhausting. But my hair is much, much worse than OP and all the curl products I'm buying seem to be the wrong ones. It looks so bad in embarrassed to leave the house
What leave-in do you like?
Get a keratin smoothing treatment once a year, it helps with frizz sooo much.
I am in love with OLAPLEX
Weightless Volumizing Hydration Hair Mask for Fine Hair (S)
I have fine and thining hair, i was hesitant at first, but to my surprise it wasn't heavy, or oily. It was smoothing and plumping the hair. It was light weight in texture, doesn't weigh your hair down.
Best hair products for reducing frizz
Key Considerations for Reducing Frizz:
Moisturizing Ingredients: Look for products containing hydrating ingredients like argan oil, shea butter, glycerin, or coconut oil, which help to nourish and smooth the hair.
Sulfate-Free Formulas: Choose sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners to avoid stripping natural oils from your hair, which can lead to dryness and frizz.
Leave-In Conditioners: A good leave-in conditioner can provide extra moisture and help to tame frizz throughout the day.
Anti-Frizz Serums: These products typically contain silicones or oils that coat the hair, providing a barrier against humidity and smoothing the hair cuticle.
Heat Protectants: If you use heat styling tools, a heat protectant spray can help prevent damage and frizz caused by high temperatures.
