TL;DR The best ice cream maker depends on your needs, but popular choices include the Cuisinart ICE-100 for its compressor feature and ease of use, and the KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker attachment for those who already own a KitchenAid mixer.
Popular Models
When it comes to choosing an ice cream maker, several models stand out due to their features and user satisfaction. The Cuisinart ICE-100 is frequently recommended for its built-in compressor, which allows continuous batch making without pre-freezing [5:2]. Another option is the KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker attachment, ideal for those who already have a KitchenAid mixer, offering convenience and saving space
[5:4].
Considerations for Choosing
Choosing the right ice cream maker involves considering factors such as capacity, ease of cleaning, and whether you prefer a manual or automatic model. Compressor models like the Cuisinart ICE-100 are more convenient for frequent use, while manual models might be suitable for occasional users who enjoy the hands-on process [5:3].
Unique Features
Some ice cream makers offer unique features that can enhance the ice cream-making experience. For example, certain models come with multiple paddles for different textures or settings for gelato versus ice cream [5:1]. These features can be particularly appealing for those looking to experiment with different types of frozen desserts.
Budget and Space Constraints
Budget and space are important considerations when selecting an ice cream maker. While compressor models tend to be more expensive, they offer greater convenience and efficiency. Manual models or attachments like the KitchenAid option are generally more affordable and compact, making them suitable for smaller kitchens or those on a budget [5:6].
In summary, the best ice cream maker will depend on your specific needs, including frequency of use, budget, and available kitchen space. Consider these factors along with the features offered by various models to make an informed decision.

Smart. The bros playing 5d chess while we're all playing 2d checkers.
Get yourself to an import store and get yourself a bottle of Irn Bru. Make a float with that. Thank me later!

Or freezing. I dunno anymore
I love Xi’an and its food but I cannot decide whether this is possibly good or the second coming of the Great Wall movie.
Now I’m curious..

I'm gonna try it but the combination of meat floss plus vanilla ice cream sounds absolutely disgusting. LOL

I've read that in the Pacific during the war, American sailors & officers loved going aboard Royal Navy ships because there was booze and British sailors and officers loved the chance to board American ships for the ice cream.
Reminds me of the cake scene from Battle of the Bulge.
I’ve also read that the killing of Japanese POWs was so widespread that they had to offer ice cream and three/four day passes as an incentive for not immediately murdering captured enemy soldiers
Yeah, the American military definitely had a problem getting US Marines, sailors, and soldiers to not murder wounded and surrendered Japanese folks. That was definitely a well documented problem.
Relatedly getting those same people to treat the remains of Japanese service members with respect was at least as much as a problem. Teeth, ears, skulls, gold fillings, fingers, and other bits were removed from the dead (and sometimes the living) for souvenirs.
You new ship is ahoy, Captain Queeg!

It's a shame that the ice cream barge overshadows the British HMS Menestheus, a brewery ship.
All of that is store bought ice. And now I actually hear my ice maker going. The last time it stopped making ice I bought ice and boom, it added ice to the top of the pile. I assumed it was because I turned off the water and turned it back on and it cleared a line or something.
Anyone have any recommendations? I had the arm down when there was no ice in there. I feel like I hear it pumping now.
I have this same ice maker. You can also just push the arm the side closest to the switch and let it hang. It will make ice forever so you have to watch it and remember to shut it off. Ask me how I know lol!
Flip that silver coat hook looking thing upwards. It thinks your ice bin is full
Thanks! Just to clarify, I need it up for it to want to fill? I had always assumed ice in the bin held it up and it would then think it was full. But now I'm having a Mandela Effect moment lol
I've had this fridge for three years and only got these problems after renovations to the upstairs bathroom so I thought it was related.
But I'll dump the bag ice from the store out of the bin and then flip the hook up.
Edit: A piece of ice was pinning it down and it's slowly rising. But it didn't go to rise when the bin was totally empty.
Thanks.
The ice filled from the maker should eventually push that little bar up. When the bar is up it signals the ice maker to stop filling and making ice.
When the arm is down, it should be making ice. When ice is ready to dump, arm comes up, ice dumps. If the arm can lower itself all the way back down, it makes more ice. It if stops midway, it doesn't make ice until arm can drop all the way again
Ah...I think it's malfunctioning then. It only dumps ice when I've put bagged ice in there. As if it's responding to a threat. I'll have it replaced. Doesn't seem like a water issue. Thanks.
May not need to replace it. You’ve found that there is a trigger to get it to make more ice. If you can find a way to recreate the arm position your store bought ice is creating then you should be able to get it to make ice.
Without looking at it in detail, I’m guessing a wad of tape under the arm preventing the arm from going too low will do the trick.
Or maybe the store ice is pushing it down further, in which case you might be able to fix it by attaching a weight to the bar so it goes all the way down when empty.
“As if it’s responding to a threat.” 🤣🤣🤣
Jesus Christ I about lost it! Lol got a god damn Decepticon in your freezer!
It's possible some ice/etc prevented it from fully going down or making sensor contact and when you dumped in new ice it jiggled the issue out
THIS HAPPENED TO ME! Nobody could explain it. It's like the maker gets distracted and it forgot what it's supposed to do, so you have to put some ice in front of it as a reminder.
Mine did this ages ago. Trying to remember but think I lost patience with it, lifted the whole unit out of the freezer, and replaced the motor; I can't remember why it seemed to work when there was ice, something to do with the sensor malfunctioning as the motor was affecting it. Took about an hour to fix, really and has worked fine since.
If you havent cleaned out the water line to your fridge. I say keep buying ice.
Yummy!! 😋
Fuck yeah, gimme that cream Elsa!
FUCK YEAH I LOVE PISTACHIO ICE CREAM
ice cream is ice cream, I don't give a fuck about who's selling it
absolutely
I was just about to say the same thing 🤣
Ice cream is ice cream!
I’ll take it by force
This was another week that I was not excited about but ended up absolutely loving! I got the idea from u/-_haiku_- to do a chocolate eggplant ice cream combination like they did for the tempering week. I also added some orange zest to the base which turned out lovely. I'd absolutely make this again!
I would never have thought to do this but it sounds good! Well done!
Okay now I'm really intrigued by the aubergine ice cream... Looks great!!
Ooooh! I ended up trying this nutmeg-cardamom eggplant ice cream, but this looks and sounds more appealing. Well done!
Ohhh how did that turn out?
It’s pretty tasty! Just posted my results. The eggplant works as nice little pops of cardamom flavor with a good texture.
Trader Joe's has a seasonal blueberry cheesecake one that has big chunks in it
That one is quite good. The blueberry in it is flavorful too which is hard to do.
Ugh, this won’t help you but Blue Bell had the best cheesecake icecream of all time. Full stop.
Cookies n cream cheesecake - and the pieces actually tasted like cheesecake.
It’s my favorite ice cream of all time, now nothing tastes as good… and it was a limited run.
Blue Bell, if you’re in here, please bring it back. LOL
Yeah, blue bell isn’t available in my area and I don’t see that one or any other flavors with cheesecake on their website right now 😢 but I still want to try their A&W root beer float one just can’t justify ordering 6 to ship to me to try one flavor
Sorry about that - I saw in another comment that you aren’t near HEB/Blue Bell territory. This specific cheesecake was a limited release flavor, to my great dismay.
The root beer float is pretty tasty! You know how towards the end of a root beer float, it is more creamy & less carbonated? That is exactly what this flavor tastes like.
I think about this ice cream constantly. So upset it was limited
SAME!
I was checking their website every month, hoping it would come back again in June for icecream month or whatever the occasion was for the release last year, but alas… that did not happen.
Second the caramel chocolate cheesecake one, big chunks of cheesecake!
I was not prepared the first time I had it. I just assumed the chunks would be pieces. Nope, those are definitely chunks!
I do love Culver’s cheesecake pieces, I was asking for brands I could buy at stores though, I got a Hudsonville strawberry cheesecake but didn’t read the label and it’s cheesecake flavored ice cream with strawberry swirls, so basically just strawberry swirl ice cream, which is kinda disappointing
Don't forget you can buy a cheesecake and cut it up and toss some into every bowl of this stuff. That's how I like to ice cream
Want a pro tip? Make ice cream sandwiches with the kroger pumpkin cheesecake ice cream in between home made snickerdoodles. I have pitched my wife on moving back to kroger country with me so we can do this but no dice

Key Considerations for Choosing an Ice Cream Maker:
Type of Ice Cream Maker:
Capacity: Consider how much ice cream you want to make at once. Most home ice cream makers range from 1.5 to 2 quarts, which is suitable for small to medium batches.
Ease of Use: Look for features like simple controls, easy assembly, and straightforward cleaning processes. Some models have automatic settings that simplify the process.
Versatility: Some ice cream makers can also make sorbet, frozen yogurt, or gelato. If you want to experiment with different frozen treats, choose a versatile model.
Price: Ice cream makers can range from budget-friendly options ($30-$50) to high-end models ($200+). Determine your budget and how often you plan to use it.
Recommendations:
Cuisinart ICE-30BC: This is a highly-rated, budget-friendly electric ice cream maker with a 2-quart capacity. It has a simple design, easy to use, and produces smooth ice cream in about 20-30 minutes.
