TL;DR
Micro Scooters
Micro scooters are frequently praised for their design and functionality. Users appreciate the variety of models available, each catering to different needs and preferences. For instance, the basic Micro Classic is noted for its lightweight design, making it easy to carry and transport, especially if you live in a multi-story building [5:2]. The Neochrome model is favored for its aesthetic appeal and wider handlebars, which offer a more stable ride and reduce pressure on the back
[5:4],
[5:6].
Features to Consider
When choosing a kick scooter, consider specific features that match your riding conditions and personal comfort. Nanogrid tires, although slower, provide excellent grip and absorb bumps, making them ideal for rougher paths or wet weather [5:1]. Suspension can also be a significant factor for those who prefer a smoother ride, though it adds weight to the scooter
[5:3]. Additionally, the choice between flat and curved handlebars can affect comfort and handling, with many users preferring the stability and ergonomic benefits of curved handlebars
[5:5],
[5:6].
Spare Parts and Maintenance
One of the advantages of Micro scooters is the availability of spare parts, which makes maintenance easier and extends the life of the scooter [5:3]. This is particularly important for regular riders who might need to perform occasional repairs.
In summary, when selecting the best kick scooter, it's essential to consider your specific needs, such as portability, terrain, and comfort. Micro scooters offer a range of options that cater to these varied requirements, making them a popular choice among enthusiasts.
Have some sympathy for Bret guys, Triple H ended his WWE career and Goldberg ended his WCW career! He has every right to say what he wants!
Please, this is the Hitman we're talking about.
When in doubt, bury that bitch
Let me tell you something about Paul “Triple H” Laveck. Everybody talks about Paul “Triple H” Laveck, well there’s one guy that can beat Paul “Triple H” Laveck and it’s me
He prefers to just be called “Triple H”
Heh. Tell him to say to my face. Say it to my face, PAUL “TRIPLE H” LAVECK.

Can't recommend Micro scooters enough! The middle one is great with the Autumnal weather (decent tyres). The wide handlebar on my neochrome is great also and much more relaxed. The Black classic is nimble for public transport carrying. Just showing...
Keep on scootering!
These look amazing! Is that the Suspension on the left? My husband has it in bronze- he couldnt be with out it - we've had to perform a few repairs and Micro are great because you can buy spare parts for such events.
Hi. On the left is the basic Micro Classic, without suspension. This makes it lighter to carry/transport (as I live a few floors up), and it's more than enough for the types of path I scooter in.
I also bought the Nanogrid tyre version, when I could have bought the suspension one, but again, a lighter model was preferred (4.7kg v 6.1kg). I previously had an Oxelo scooter which rattled a fair bit (since sold..), and I didn't want another suspension one. The nanogrid tyres do the job nicely, even if it runs slower.
Love them! Thanks for sharing! 🥰 I have the Neochrome, it’s great! I would die for some NanoGrid tyres but can’t find them anywhere to order as a spare 🥲
Thanks! Yes, odd that Micro don't sell the nanogrid wheels on their own. It's a fairly new model, so they may just be monitoring for sales etc.
They run slower than my other two (better workout though), but the grip is there and absorbs more of the bumps along the way.
Yeah that’s because they are kinda empty inside (multiple empty chambers) Also I would love the new rubber handles, do you feel any difference using them? The ones with micro branding on them
I like the aesthetic of the curved handlebars more than the flat handlebars.
Do they handle differently?
Absolutely.
Its a more stable ride and (as advertised), less pressure on your back as your arms are in a more natural position. While the regular handlebars are fine, the wider curved ones are better for greater distances and it just looks...cooler :-)
I alternate between the Classic and my Neochrome one. The Nanogrid, when I think it might rain...
Thanks!
Good Lord, Ed Oliver just scootered through the clubhouse rolling perfectly normally. He said he had “no time” to talk. Too busy ping-ponging, evidently.
He then rolled up his sleeve to show a tattoo of a walking boot. "I'll let you interpret that however you want", he added.
Ed when it’s his turn for ping pong
This killed me😭
If it turns out our best defender got hurt horseback riding after the best game of his career, we might need to bring in an exorcist for this team
I’m less concerned about Oliver, at least he’s using only one horse power for his mode of transport. Might need to untune the drift car to a half horse.
At least we can cross jet skiing off the list now.
He was fine after practice yesterday. I'm guessing horse related.
does he have horses up here in Buffalo? Or did he fly home between weds practice and Thursday, and ride his horse and injury himself?
Those things are death traps. Every person I know who rides has sustained a major or semi-major injury from riding.
Today was a walk-through but yes, DNP
I'm in my 20s (Unathletic female) and my last kickscooter had its rear brake fell off from pure use! Needless to say, I'm looking for a new one. About 5'2" height wise.
What I want: Able to support my weight easily with extra redundancy (200 lbish is good), reasonably portable (fold up easily and can be carried around by one hand is my goal, having a strap to carry it would be nice but not needed), and able to withstand daily use (commute) along with being durable in general.
I would be riding on all sorts of surfaces, including sidewalks, roads (I might be crossing roads/crosswalks on this) and possibly brick/stone paths. Larger wheels are desirable.
Ideally, I would not spend over 200$ USD for one. I live in the US. I do not care for specific brands as long as it meets my requirements. A handbrake is not required, I'm fine with just a rear brake. Ideally, I would be able to choose a color like pink or purple... but utility comes first!
So... what do you suggest?
I'm considering this one:
https://goped.com/go-ped-kick-ped/ (Built to last, able to ride on rough surfaces with good comfort, and fits my needs. I'm ok with the speed being meh. I don't need it to be super compact, and it's portable.)
It's my favorite out of the 4 I currently have. I think you'll like it.
And if you're still unsure about paying full price for it, I always recommend checking out the second hand market.
But if you do end up buying a brand new one, let us know how you like it!
It’s a good choice given your requirements. Another important thing to know about the KickPed is that the deck height is slightly but noticeably higher than that of the Xootr, Razors, and Micros. It’s not so bad that it would be a dealbreaker, but it is a little higher and therefore a little harder on the legs.
Either a Razor A6 or a Micro Classic scooter (wide handlebars if available). I think Razors are more widely available in the US?
Why do you recommend the chopper bars over the regular ones?
Because it's easier to steer and control the scooter, and it's a more natural position - like riding a bike. You don't feel like your arms are cramped.
It makes a world of difference, honestly and particularly for longer rides.
Xootr and Razor are the speed kings, but a hard ride on rough surface if that's your situation.
Maybe have a look at WawaSC video on the Goped Kickped as another possibility to consider.
Advantage: US company, brake kit availability as option, rubber wheels give good traction but low maintenance. (But don't think you can go as fast as WawaSC on rubber wheels lol)
If you have Decathlon stores, some let you try out the Oxelo scooter on an admittedly unrealistic little surface, but at least you can bounce on the syspension a bit to see if it's stiff enough :)
I do not need the fastest scooter, and it has to be able to handle rough surfaces fairly well (Like brick and stone paths, and uneven sidewalks). Not asking for the comfiest ride possible, just comfortable enough for daily use.
Average speed is OK, I don't need the best speed possible. And some comfort would be nice, but it does not need to be super comfortable. I prefer a wider deck though, better for keeping my feet off the ground. I do not want tires with air due to the maintenance, so any non-air tire and low maintenance material is ok.
Sorry , sometimes "speed" is used to mean "low rolling resistance".
So e.g. A6 is fast because it keeps rolling a long distance with each kick, meaning you can keep building the speed from a running start.
A "slower" scooter i.e. with a high rolling resistance, slows down and rolls only a short distance before coming to a stop. So each kick you are starting from zero, BUT also you are getting tired because you have to kick more often.
Therefore if you choose a hard plastic big wheel scooter like the A6 you can go slow and be less tired. And if you go slow, the vibrations aren't that bad anyway!
Ah, in which case, average rolling resistance is fine. I honestly need to be less of a couch potato anyways lol.
Xootr brand. Several good models. Spoiler alert they’re not cheap.
Been biking to work for years but the hills are killing my knees lately so thinking about switching to a kick scooter for the flat parts. I'm in my 30s not looking for kid stuff need something sturdy that folds easy for the train and handles rough sidewalks without rattling apart.
EDIT: Settled on a sturdy adult kick scooter that folds for the train, handles rough sidewalks with bigger wheels, and holds up under 180 lbs.
Tried a cheap one from a big box store a while back maybe 50 bucks but the wheels wore out after a month and the deck flexed too much under my weight around 180 pounds. Don't want electric since I need the exercise just a solid manual one with bigger wheels for stability.
Budget about 100-150 tops since I'm not sure if it'll stick. What models have you used that hold up for adults without constant tweaks. Any with pneumatic tires or adjustable height that don't cost an arm.
How do you store them at work or lock them up without getting stolen. If you've got links to ones on Amazon or wherever that aren't junk share them.
I have a Hudora City Big Wheel Air. I’m 50 and I use it every day.
Have you considered an ebike? This looks like a pretty good use-case, and if you’re already in the habit of riding to work then I’d think it would fit your routine
OMG no, I've put some time into this topic. I'm a fan of ebikes, but it's not for everyone. If the guy thinks he can get away with a kick scooter, that should be the thing to get. Ebike is expensive, heavy, gets stolen a lot, can't go onto a bus easily, and at his budget would basically be a battery waiting to explode. There's no shame in not having an ebike.
I think you’re overstating a few points, but you are definitely looking at spending a minimum of $1k. If you ride often enough that it’s essentially a car replacement then this is a bargain, but it’s not a small amount of money to put down.
Keep in mind OP said they already ride a bike to commute but have been experiencing knee pain; this Is pretty much exactly the use-case for an ebike.
They need to fix the handle bars like put sturdy box handle bars on them.
If your knees hurt while you ride your bike, it's a sign that your bike fit isn't right. Your saddle may be too low or too high. Try r/BikeFit if you are interested in continuing to ride your bike.
Have you heard of ciro? They make kickscooters specifically for adults. Up to 100kg, with shiny metal parts. If you get the spring loaded front and elongate the back it's pretty sweet. And longboard wheels fit it, so you can get some really speedy high rebound urethane. Or even rain cut wheels for the crappy days. And it looks more bad ass then the banker type scooter designs.
tried a few different sneakers over the last 7 years
the best one for me is this classic Converse type ankle high sneakers
very flat sole so it sits flush on the board
and I can kick with the entire flat bottom of my feet
or just the toes
what do you use?
did 10 miles under hot sun today...feels great...fast kicking
you see, since my heart valves don't work right, I always have to keep my heart muscle in good shape
I wear New Balance 608.
Comfortable & lots of rubber sole to wear through if using it for braking.
if I use my foot to brake, I will break it
Yeah, that is the problem with thin-sole shoes.
I tried using Adidas Sambas once for kickscooting, would not recommend.
vans 🔥🔥🔥
I just normally wear a pair of my running trainers - Brooks Adrenaline GTS. Comfortable enough for scootering.
can't walk or run with mine
it is like wearing a flat wooden board
A pair of old combat boots. They are 7 years old and the soles are still pretty much intact. Uppers are kinda dying though.
Whats some that are generally considered the best kick scooters ? Looking for one for a bit of fun and occasionally to and from places instead of walking. If I had a preference ideally something thats not super heavy and can be folded. I was loooking at this - https://www.micro-scooters.co.uk/suspension-micro-scooter-configurable-7585#selection.size=5454 Any thoughts ? Height is 6ft and weight 75kg
Micro flex scooter 200mm. It's great for adults, super fast.
I don't recommend neither amortization nor manual breaks. They are gymincs and they add weight and maintenance costs
I owned the deluxe version for more than 10 years
Youre a slim guy! Im 100 and 190 and i prefer adult micro scooters with large or semi large wheels. I think they call them classic or cruiser now. They used to have the flex, with wooden baseboard, this is the best one in my opinion but i didnt find it their site now. Stay away from childrens scooters.
Micro suspension is great - I use it everyday and it’s v smooth. Much more durable than some of their other models
After a few days on the new Sporty Wheel version (UK site) can heartily recommend it. Admittedly, not as fast as the non-rubber tyres, but it's fast enough for pavements/sidewalks etc.
I think that would be good for you.
I've just taken delivery (because of the sale) of the Micro Sporty Wheel version due to the airless/nanogrid tyres. It's great - won't roll as fast as the pneumatic wheels found on most, but the grip is excellent and runs silent over uneven surfaces. Bought at £150.
I’m a bit heavier (85 kg) and I have their Flex Deluxe. You may need to do a search on their site because it can be difficult to find. The laminate deck has a good springiness to it that absorbs the bumps much better than the metal decks, but there’s less movement than the suspension one you mentioned, and that movement can be awkward as you’re kicking. I go about 3 miles a day and I’ve had it for several years, with regular replacement of the button mechanism (pretty easy, and better designed now), a new set of wheels, and 2 brake replacements
best kick scooter
Key Considerations for Choosing the Best Kick Scooter:
Age and Weight Limit: Ensure the scooter is suitable for the rider's age and weight. Most scooters have a weight limit ranging from 100 to 220 lbs.
Wheel Size: Larger wheels (typically 200mm or more) provide a smoother ride over bumps and rough surfaces, while smaller wheels are better for tricks and stunts.
Material and Build Quality: Look for scooters made from durable materials like aluminum or high-grade plastic. A sturdy build will ensure longevity and safety.
Foldability: If portability is important, consider a foldable scooter for easy storage and transport.
Braking System: A reliable braking system (like a rear fender brake or hand brake) is essential for safety. Ensure the brakes are easy to use and effective.
Deck Size: A wider deck provides more foot space and stability, which is especially important for beginners.
Recommendations:
Razor A5 Lux: Great for kids and adults, it features large wheels for a smooth ride, is lightweight, and folds easily for transport. It supports riders up to 220 lbs.
Micro Kickboard Mini Deluxe: Ideal for younger riders (ages 2-5), this scooter has a stable three-wheel design and adjustable handlebars, making it perfect for growing kids.
Fuzion Z300 Pro Scooter: A solid choice for trick riders, it has a durable build, responsive brakes, and is designed for performance, supporting riders up to 220 lbs.
Choosing the right scooter depends on the rider's age, intended use (commuting vs. tricks), and personal preferences. Always prioritize safety features and build quality for the best experience.
