Toaster Oven
While slightly more than some other gadgets, a toaster oven is praised for its versatility and convenience. It's perfect for quickly toasting bagels, reheating leftovers, or even baking small batches of cookies. Many users prefer it over a traditional oven for smaller tasks [4:3].
These appliances provide significant utility in the kitchen without breaking the bank, making them excellent investments for anyone looking to enhance their culinary capabilities on a budget.
I go with ice cream maker tray
Baking sheet
Digital thermometer that’s oven safe. Best meat all the time. Meats R us . Best meat in town
Ove gloves.
A $12 hand blender, use it every morning and it just keeps on blending...
Hi everyone, I want to know if their is any knifes that are sharp and stay sharp for a long time. I don’t cook daily but I would still like a knife that’s is sharp for the days I do. I’m looking for something preferably under $50.
I’m in the UK, got a generic Chinese vegetable knife for £15 (about 20USD) three years ago and use it for absolutely everything.
For that budget I’d get either a Victorinox Fibrox or a Mercer Chinese cleaver. Both cut well and can be kept sharp for a long time with a honing rod.
Thanks man! I’ll look into both of those knives
My favorite kitchen knife is on sale now on Amazon for $21. Mercer Culinary M18000 Millennia Black Handle, 8-Inch Wide Hollow Ground, Chef’s Knife.
This knife is very versatile - it’s thicker than most chef’s knives and handles kitchen butchery great. I love breaking chicken down with this knife or just mincing herbs.
Believe it or not, the 7 inch knife at Dollar Tree. I know that sounds crazy, but the blade is rather thin altogether

I don’t know how some people can live without a mini food processor.
Toaster oven - so much better for bagels and English muffins
Food processor/ mini food processor- once you have one, Vegetable chopping and prep is a breeze, you can make any dip you want, perfectly emulsified homemade salad dressings are suddenly fast and easy, it speeds up components of cooking within larger projects (eg - dumpling filling for homemade wonton). You can even use it to make desserts or assist in other baking projects, like shortbread cookies or biscuit dough.
I've never even considered it... I think I actually may have one in a cupboard.. hm.
Nothing is cheaper than “already in your house”! ☺️
Hand mixer (in a drawer and as available as a spoon), egg maker, electric chopper/small food processor.
Egg maker? Aren't those usually utilized in the coop?
Lol. Those could be helpful, too. I like my little Dash egg cooker, so that I don’t accidentally overcook my eggs
Digital thermometer, digital scale (always weigh for baking) air fryer
Recently went under contract for a new home that a contractor is rehabbing. He has given me a budget of $3500 for my kitchen appliances that he is allowing me to pick out. I need a refrigerator, range, dishwasher, and microhood. My previous house had all GE appliances and they were all decent for the most part. Just looking for any advice on best brands and things to look out for while keeping everything under budget.

If you use their card, you get money back and a 4 year warranty
Check out Costco. They have decent prices and you can buy matching sets. They also, or at least used to, double the manufacturers warranty and offer free delivery.
Avoid Samsung appliances as they are gigantic pieces of shit.
And avoid LG. By all that is holy, run away from LG! Edit: one suggestion I regularly pass along is this: Call local repair shops/techs; call several unaffiliated ones and ask which appliances are a nightmare to deal with/get parts/prone to breakdown. The techs in my area loathed dealing with LG, especially after LG lost their class action lawsuit.
Except, for some reason, laundry and dishwashers. We (Home Depot) see the best reliability and customer satisfaction stats from LG in those areas. But yeah their microwaves are shit and their fridges are super hit-or-miss, and they're expensive and complicated to fix when you do need service :/
Search for appliance liquidators. You can get almost half off for very minor cosmetic damage
There are a few other ways you can save money at Lowes. You can apply for a veteran's discount if you or your spouse are military/former military, which will give you 10% off every day. Or you can get 10% off when you use their credit card - but you can't combine your military discount with the cardholder discount. You can buy Lowe's coupons online - the percent off codes limit the maximum dollar amount you can save, but they do work. And you can also buy discounted Lowe's gift cards, but for really big purchases you have to plan way ahead and save up your gift cards since normally there's a limit to the number of cards you can buy at a discount. For example, last week Dollar General was offering Lowe's GCs at a discount, but it was limited to one card per dollar general rewards account.
you read my mind I needed to know this too!
Hello :)
We are a young couple who decided to replace our decades old appliances that came with our old place. Naively we went with Samsung appliances (fridge, dishwasher, stove). Luckily we got it though Costco.
We have had the appliances couple of months and non stop issues with the fridge. It came slightly damaged. After multiple frustrating phone calls with Samsung they weren’t much help. Costco offered a discount. We took the discount since it was just cosmetic.
We got a Samsung bespoke fridge with a water pitcher. We thought it would be great to encourage us to drink more water. PROBLEM IS IT DOESNT WORK. It fills up 1/4 of the way only. After countless back and forth again Samsung is useless. They won’t even bother to send a repair person to take a look.
Costco has offered exchange - we can buy another brand and pay the difference etc
I have no issues with the Samsung stove. The dishwasher honestly seems a bit cheap (some parts are already bent)
We want to replace all 3 appliances and get things that are matching somewhat.
Any advice on the brand? We have a flexible budget - at this point we just want appliances that are reliable. Is LG the best option?
Thank you in advance 🙏
We have the same dishwasher and highly recommend it too. It’s whisper quiet, works, and has never posed a problem.
Awesome share. This guy is great! He just helped me narrow down which appliances I will be purchasing for my new home.
Miele now offer free 5-year warranty on all their apliances in USA. In Canada, 10 year free warranty.Miele is german brands that design their apliances to "last 20 years," and they test them for thousands of hours in their labs. But in my opinion, they are not what they used to be. But at least they do once a year this special offer with a 5 - or 10-year free warranty. (This warranty costs like 850$ CAD or more depends on apliances)
Nothing is really reliable, but I recommend at least these brands. They make good products.
For a dishwasher - Bosch , (especially Bosch 500 series) and Miele.
Front load washers - LG for vented laundry Bosch for ventless.
Top load washers - Speed Queen
Refrigiration - no brand is reliable, maybe only Subzero, but that's expensive, and some people say that they now don't last either.
Good luck
5 year is not standard for Miele. They offer it “complimentary” randomly during the year. Sometimes it’s over a very specific set of dates. We just bought one of their high-end dishwashers and it definitely is like $300 to get the 5 year warranty.
It is a very nice dishwasher. One thing that I’ve learned is that many appliance places don’t have a lot of experience with their products. It was a nightmare to order and was definitely considered excessive by our sales people who thought anything above a Bosch 800 was stupid. Whatever, we like it.
Don’t get knock to open. It’s mega dumb and a PITA. It’s just slow enough to irritate you and finicky enough to confuse your parents or guests who will just tug at the door.
Yes, I know I was mostly talking about Canada, where you can buy this extra warranty for up to 10 years, but it costs like 800$ CAD.
Miele have three prices. First is regular price, second is 5 year warranty and third is 10 year warranty https://www.miele.ca/en/Shop/products/detail/built-in-bottom-mounts-kfn-9859-ide-12153750-p
And here is USA extended warranty cost https://www.mieleusa.com/c/extended-warranty-25.htm
Good luck
The house we bought has a Miele refrigerator, washer & dryer and dishwasher. They are all far better than any appliance I've had in the past. The washer/dryer are smaller than some but they are stackable so that is probably why. But the quality of all is pretty amazing. Only had them 2 years and they were purchased 5 years before we moved in so they're in year 8 now.
Our last pair of Miele were over 20 years old, $400 repair to the washer (shocks) was it. have a new pair now in new house, and a Miele dishwasher. Range is Wolf, fridge Sub Zero. I did buy a pair of GE front loaders gas dryer/washer for my mom (the cheapest line they had)in 2015 and they have been fine and reliable.
Stay far away from lg and Samsung. Middle of the road budget whirlpool, kitchenaid, maytag
Samsung has one of the stingiest reputations when it comes to repairs that they'll cover & that's with the fact that they have KNOWN issues with some of the products in their line (ex// Samsung Fridges & their Ice Makers/back of unit freezing up). It's brutal.
Yes, this guy. I watch his vids before purchasing any of my new appliances.
just bought a Bosch 800 series a few months ago, I'm super happy with it.
I'd like to throw in the kitchen aid dishwasher. Thing is fantastic and their innovation with the third rack is genius.
I’m always amazed at how the little things can make the biggest difference on the road.
Not talking about the $1,000 solar setups or fancy gear — I mean the simple, budget-friendly upgrades under $50 that you end up using every single day.
For example, mine was a set of heavy-duty leveling blocks. $35 and suddenly parking anywhere felt less stressful. Total game-changer.
So just curious… What’s your best under-$50 gadget, tool, or hack that’s made RV life easier, safer, or more comfortable?
Portable ice maker, dehumidifier
What kind of icemaker did you get?
Got it on EBay about four years ago. You can get them pretty much anywhere. Called a Bullet icemaker. Makes 26lbs of ice in 24hrs.
Love it water bandit’s a lifesaver, and mason jars always come in handy!
Small dehumidifier.
those always comes in handy
TPMS Sensors. Set of 6 only $50 now. Work great!
That’s a solid deal! peace of mind for cheap!
Saved me more than once alerting me of low/flat tires. They’re so cheap it doesn’t make sense to not have them. Beeps when tires go above or below your set pressures. Base units are solar powered, too. These were $300 only a few years ago..
Swapping the god-awful blue awning lights for warm white.
Anderson leveling blocks.
Velcro tape to stick a bottle opener to the wall.
Small electric space heater.
Nice! Warm lights make such a difference, and the space heater is a game changer on cold mornings for sure.
Hi guys. We’re gonna do a bit of remodeling in our kitchen including new appliances (oven, induction top, dishwasher, fridge). In your experience what’s worth spending extra money on? I can’t see throwing down a bunch of cash on a high end fridge because it seems like it basically does the same thing as a mid-end fridge. Oven/cooktop seem to make more sense. Thoughts?
Edit: gas is not an option where I live.
Came here to also recommend the Bosch 500!! It was my kitchen appliance splurge and I love it so much
I really like our ge profile dw with built in fan for drying. It is great for drying plastic dishes/cups.
I also love that the silverware has a third row. It saves so much space and always comes out perfectly clean.
Can confirm. We have a 4 door, which we love. Other than the icemaker. I have to use a hair dryer every other month to get rid of jams.
But all Samsung appliances I've had issues with. 2 igniters on the gas stove. Drain issues on dishwasher. Microwave would randomly press 7. All these issues presented themselves within 3 years of purchase.
Call Samsungs customer service line! They had someone come out and replace our ice maker for free and the new one works fine. Ours was definitely out of warranty (we inherited it from the previous homeowners). I know it’s an annoying step, but probably less time intensive than a hair dryer session.
2nding Bosch. I have super hard well water that destroys most dishwashers quickly (& a softener isn't a viable option). I had a high end GE that lasted maybe 2yrs and then the pandemic hit and parts to repair were impossible to find. Bought a low end Bosch due to reviews from other well-owners and its been running for almost 4yrs now. I use a cleaner every month like I did with the GE and have yet to have a single problem
And even the 200 series I bought I have to be super close to it to even realize it's running.
How are you liking your Bosch cooktop? Is it induction or convection or whatever (sorry I'm not quite hip to all the technical terms). Are there positive differences that put it above other brands that you could discern? I love my Bosch dishwasher and have been considering buying more appliances from this brand based on that. But I'm pretty clueless about the quality of ranges brand to brand.
The 60 minute cycle option is a great option. Standard is almost 3 hours, and sometimes that’s just too long to wait.
Don’t get the Frigidaire gallery dishwasher, we’ve had ours for four years and it consistently fails to finish a session. Had a hard time getting someone to come repair it, and even after the updated water sensor it still fails more often than not.
TLDR, get a Bosch.
Building onto this, also under cabinet outlets. Keeps a clean look for your backsplash while allowing you to have as many outlets as you want for convenience. Our house has these and I love them.
Miele is great, but you have to go to their higher price options, over $1,000, to get the more convenient ones. I got their cheapest model a few years ago and immediately had drying issue since it doesn’t have a drying cycle/heating element. Using their proprietary rinse aid helps a lot, but opening the door immediately after helps the most. The less expensive Bosch ones do that automatically. There’s also no child lock on our model to prevent children from pressing buttons and interrupting the cycle. I can’t believe they wouldn’t even have a button sequence to press locking it out. They also require you to use an authorized installer to get the extended warranty and they aren’t cheap. There was only one within an hour of me and they wanted a few hundred just to show up to verify my install and much more to actually do it themselves. It was nearly half the cost of the dishwasher itself. Otherwise we have loved our Miele. It is so quiet and does a fantastic job cleaning the dishes.
We got a kitchenaid and absolutely love it. It’s quiet and cleans amazingly well.
Something's that beginner or casuals hesitate or may not see much value initially but will definitely make life a bit easier.
Edit: except instant pot and equivalents.
A rice cooker! Put the rice in, turn it on, come back in 30 minutes and it’s keeping the rice warm until your ready. I got a two person one from my local Chinese supermarket for £22 recently.
We love our rice cooker!
I have a rice cooker with two steamer trays on top. We use it almost daily. It uses less energy than the Instant Pot for rice or steaming vegetables.
I second this. I use my rice cooker for a variety of grains but also to make all sorts of bean and grain stews with minimal work.
I have an instant pot! Thanks for the suggestion
Air Fryer. Baking sheets with racks and silicone mats for lining.
Air Fryer changed my life lol. We rarely use the oven anymore, the AF is so much quicker and has a better result.
An air frier is just a convection oven.
What air fryer do you have? Tia
If you don't have a cast iron skillet, people I know, including myself have used big old college textbooks, but any old hardback should do, even a heavy plate (or a few can do it, or a book on a plate).
LPT you can also cook dried beans in your rice cooker. Mine isnt even electronic and it does the job. Just make sure to soak the beans overnight.
Immersion blender
Obviously this a store by store basis but Kitchen is ready to reset in a lot of stores so they’re clearancing out a lot of stuff. With your discount and if you have a Red Card, you’ll save a lot of money. Bought the Ninja Foodi dual basket Air Fryer for $62.53 after taxes and discount. It’s originally $229. DPCI # 072-04-3411. Also bought the Kitchen Aid cordless hand mixer for $25 after discounts and taxes. Originally $99. DPCI# 072-04-9632. Bought some other random stuff for super cheap also. You might have to scan through a lot of stuff to find the good stuff if price change hasn’t labeled everything. A lot of lamps, kitchen utensils, and dining sets seem to be heavily discounted also.
got my first air frier that way. glad i did, was never gonna try something new at full price and now it's as well used as the microwave.
Definitely. I never buy a kitchen appliance at full price. Either Black Friday or when they go to clearance
I picked up an air fryer for half off at $75. And with a Circle Offer and Bonus mission I saved/earned another $20. I've never used an air fryer, but it's something I wanted to give a go.
Hot dogs and pizza rolls are good in an air fryer. Same with chicken strips and fries
Nice. Did you use the $10 off $60 purchase offer? That’s the one I used plus I earned the $15 TC earnings after making 4 $45 purchases. I feel like I made out like a bandit
I completed a $15 rewards credit for making two $85 purchases. About a week ago I bought a $99 Spotify subscription card, and that counted as a purchase. The air fryer being just $10 away from getting the $15 reward helped push me towards buying, so I tossed in $10 worth of necessities. I swear, the more you complete those bonus offers the higher the purchase amount gets.
Then just today I got a targeted Circle offer for $5 off a $40 store-wide purchase.
yes I just got the henckels knives on clerance 50% 😭 I been wanting them for so long but couldn't justify the $150 for them but for under $80? n it's my birthday month I was definitely able to 😂
Nice. You got yourself a early birthday present.
Thanks for the heads up on the knives as none of ours were marked as clearance. Bought the $229 set for around $60 after my discount and Redcard savings.
yes they are amazing 😭🙏
Got my roommate one of the Ember self heating coffee mugs for 50% off. Was going to grab one for myself if they made it to 70%, but alas, we sold our last one.
Do TVs like LG OLED ever go on clearance? C2 in 55" or 65" size.
