TL;DR
Extraits and High Concentration Fragrances
Extraits, which are higher concentration versions of perfumes, generally provide better longevity. Brands like Maison Francis Kurkdjian (MFK), BDK, and Louis Vuitton have extrait collections that are known for their long-lasting properties [1:1]. MFK's Oud Satin Mood Extrait de Parfum is specifically mentioned as lasting over 12 hours on the skin
[2:2].
Amouage Fragrances
Amouage is a brand frequently recommended for its above-average performance in terms of longevity and projection. Their special concentration versions are particularly noted for lasting longer [1:3],
[4:3]. This makes them a reliable choice for those seeking colognes that endure throughout the day.
Montale and Initio
Montale's Intense Cafe and Initio's Oud For Greatness are highlighted as colognes with significant projection and lasting power. These fragrances are described as "beasts" due to their strength and ability to linger [2:1],
[2:6]. Users mention needing multiple showers to remove Montale Red Tobacco, emphasizing its persistence
[2:10].
Other Notable Options
Several other colognes are mentioned across discussions for their longevity and appeal. Paco Rabanne's 1 Million Elixir Parfum Intense [5:1] and Terre d’Hermes Parfum
[2:7] are recommended for their enduring scent profiles. Maison Crivelli's Hibiscus Mahajad is noted for its strong projection and sweet floral fragrance, suitable for both men and women
[4:1].
Considerations Beyond Recommendations
While these recommendations provide a solid starting point, it is important to consider personal preferences in scent profile and budget constraints. Sampling these fragrances before purchasing can ensure they align with your desired olfactory experience. Additionally, checking reviews and performance feedback can help gauge how these colognes might interact with different skin types and environments.
Laying aside the question of how good something smells what are some of the better performing colognes on the market?
The reason I ask is because I’ve smelled quite a bit of fragrances lately. I ordered the creed sample pack, bought a few other colognes, etc. so far I’ve been happy with what I’ve tried. But now I want to know what are some decent smelling colognes that also perform extremely well.
Bonus points if it smells good and performs well.
My performance, I mean how long it lasts.
Xerjoff, montale, orto parisi
From personal experience :
Everything from amouage has above average performance. Their special concentration versions even so.
Frédéric Malle desert gems and some mainline perfumes.
Maison Crivelli extraits.

Kerosene - Followed
I put a drop on a piece of paper a week ago and left it on my bathroom counter and it still smells like a syrup factory in there.
Extraits by MFK, BDK, LV (LV Oud Collection counts as well).
Extraits jn general perform better.
As title says what would your top 3 fragrances that are long lasting and strong and have a good projection be?
For me:
Dior sauvage elexir/parfume
Blue de chanel
Dior homme sport
MFK Oud Satin Mood lasts on my skin for 12+ hours. How long does the Extrait lasts on your skin? Do they smell similar?
Baccarat rouge Extrait de Parfum by the way
Memoirs of Trespasser from Imaginary Authors is the only thing that lasts over 24 hours on my skin. Even my extraits (PDM Delina, Zoologist Bee and Nishane Hundred Silent Ways) only last a few hours tops on my wrist
Mancera - Red Tobacco
Xerjoff - Erba Pura
MFK - BR540 extrait
You have to take two showers to get red tobacco off
Xerjoff Alexandria 2, Xerjoff Naxos, Montale Intense Cafe, Initio Oud For Greatness (unbelievably powerful, probably top beast of them all)
You can't be heavy handed with any Montale. That said, I do love Intense Cafe (perhaps my fave coffee scent). Oud For Greatness ought to be renamed Oud For GreatBigness. Gargantuan.
Hahahaha!!!! Facts!
Terre d’Hermes Parfum
Blue de Chanel Parfum
Dior Sausage Elixir
I like the Dior sausage too
Im new to the cologne world and after doing some scent testing at Ulta, I've found a solid bunch that I enjoy. Now I just need to narrow it down. I currently own Gucci Guilty Black (disappointing performance), ADG Parfum, Dylan Blue Pour Homme, Nautica Voyage, CK Euphoria, and Jimmy Choo Aqua (also disappointing performance). I'm looking for 2 or 3 of the ones posted to help round out my collection a little bit as well as potentially removing any poor performing ones. They need to last at least 4 hours for me to considering buying. I would greatly appreciate everyone's input! Prices in the images can be ignored as I will almost certainly be buying elsewhere.
I find myself reapplying twice a day when I wear Polo 67.
I agree. I have the Polo 67 EDP along with 4 other Fragrances in my collection and the Polo 67 is my favorite.
The new black Eau de Parfum with the gold coach tag is really nice as well. I hope Coach start venturing more into different concentrations other than just EDT for everything. The original Coach black is amazing tho
Coach black I wear year round it’s magic in a bottle
This, I don't own it but I smelled it the other day in JCPenney and wow.
F the haters, Sauvage is the best one out of the bunch with the Montblanc next.
YSL L’HOMME for sure. Out of all these scents, this one stands out the most (in a good way). It’s good for summer & winter as well. Go to scent for me.
Glad to hear it. I had it in my top 3. Seems like it would be a particularly good winter scent which appealed to me as most of the ones I like smell like they are a better summer fragrance. Will definitely be picking this one up!
How do they compare? I have EDT but I quite like it
Couldn’t agree more. Love the parfum. I sniff myself all day when I wear it.
Coach green and MontBlanc explorer are my favorites on this list but you can’t go wrong with Polo 67 or Sauvage.
Coach green lasts less than 2 hrs for me unfortunately
Joop homme edt, for the price its crazy
Honestly any amouage fragrance
Oud maracuja
Nishane Hacivat & Followed by Kerosene
Maison crivelli - Hibiscus mahajad, floral, tea, fruity, monster of projection and longevity. 2 sprays max for me, anything more and you’d be obnoxious. Other than that great fragrance and probably my number 1 if you love a sweeter floral fragrance. Leans feminine but honestly a guy can rock it easily.
Acqua di Gio.
Paco Rabanne 1 Million Elixir Parfum Intense
Damnnnn you beat me to it. I saw your comment after I made mine.
It just means we share a good taste in cologne haha
Terra D’hermes (sorry if spelt wrong)
Love it.
Brute
maple syrup
Looking for a quality cologne that has a scent that last longer than a few hours.
You'll need to specify what it smells of.
Cologne/perfume smells comes in hundreds of forms, in various concentrations and with millions of different scents.
In general, the way it works is that some notes will last longer than others, for example citrus notes don't last long, no matter how high the perfume-oil concentration is, but woody notes, ambery notes, and warmer notes tend to last longer. So there's both the perfume oil concentration which is going to prolong its performance, but also the type of notes.
so... Specify some things you'd like it to smell of, and I'll find something for you.
So lately I’ve been wearing scents that have like a spice and vanilla scent or cedar and cypress. I love the scents but feel like they are cheaper colognes so the long last effects is what it lacks. Today I sampled a few at our local mall and enjoyed the Messi cologne but I feel after a few hours the scent is practically gone.
Cheap doesn't always mean that it's shortlived, but there's often a correlation. just not always.
If you like spice and vanilla, Babycat from YSL might be up your alley - that's a mix of peppercorns, suede, vanilla and resins, kind of like a spicy vanilla. It is not at all woody or cypressy, so it's mostly vanilla-like and well suited for colder weathers.
Here are some other recommendations that lean more on the woody side, or has a lot of spices.
Drakkar Noir
Ask Jeremy Fragrance
Tonsil stones scent lasts a long time
Kenzo Jungle
For something more long lasting, look into fragrance oils. Cologne is just fragrance oil mixed with alcohol. The alcohol pulls the fragrance from the oil making it smell stronger, but it causes it to wear off faster.
Hey everyone. Cologne usually NEVER lasts on me it’s so annoying lol. Looking for some back to school reccomendations of cologne that have insane longevity and project pretty well. Also, the cologne need to be suitable all year round lol. I can’t afford buying ones for every season haha. Thanks
Drink water. Use unscented lotion to keep your skin hydrated.
Not sure what you actually like, but year-rounders for me include Terre d'Hermes, Dior Homme Sport, Dior Homme 2020, Prada l'Homme, BDC, MB Explorer, MB Legend EDP, Versace Dylan Blue
20 sprays of Sauvage Elixir will last you a lifetime.
How old are you young nigga? This is important for a good recommendation
Senior in hs lol
Ahhh, yes. 17/18 years old. I remember those days.
Go ahead and get you some Rasasi Hawas lil nigga.
Affordable and extremely powerful.
can i also say it? im white as crack but i wanna be black for a moment
Nah nigga
😂
Simple: Fahrenheit EDT
Skin and hydration tips aside… The reality is most warm weather Freshies that you really like may not last or project in the winter, and most “beast mode “long lasting fragrances maybe too much for summer. So you may have to pick something that you’re not in love with, but that is OK to get that middle ground. And I’m not necessarily recommending it but just for an example something like Gucci guilty elixir. It’s not earth shattering, but to me it’s not offensive or too light but it definitely lasts a long time. There’s other things out there as well, but this was just an example.
Hello! I’m in search of a masculine, long-lasting cologne, perfume, body spray. Everything I’ve found fades by the time I get to work (10 minute commute). I’m not saying I want to fumigate my office space, but something a little more long-lasting would be nice. Like: clean, fresh, sweet scents Dislikes: musk, amber, woodsy Thanks in advance!
If you've got the cash to throw around, I suggest giving Black Phoenix Alchemy Laboratory's catalogue a look-through. They have a lot of really amazing and interesting stuff (and they sell little 5ml 'Imp's Ears' of scents so you can give stuff a try without throwing away a ton of money on something that might not work out for you).
Thank you!
Most probably been asked before but I’m new and interested in what people think are the best colognes😃
Eros and Eros flame
I love Eros of go through it like Wild Fire but is it just me or is its projection pretty low? The only time my wife smells it is when we’re cuddling and I spray the shit out of it
Spider-Man EDT for winter and SpongeBob EDT for summer
Spiderman 3 black suit spiderman edp is my personal winter choice
Aventus absolu for winters/special occasions and lv imagination for regular use/summers
Pacific Chill or Afternoon swim personally but this is a solid 2 combo
Samesies but swap it with L’Immensite for me
Creed Aventus and Parfums de Marly Althaïr 🤤
You haven’t told us yours!
Solid choice. Couldn't decide between Althair and Pegasus Exclusif for my winter one.
Pegasus Exclusif wins for me!
Terre de Hermes and Aventus.
I bought Rasasi Fattan for a fraction of the price of TDH haha
Oudwood by Tom Ford if you like that ethnic fragrance though westernized version. I liked it back when I used to wear cologne. It’s a bit expensive but amazing.. if you like leathery scent, Noir De Noir by Tom Ford and if you like floral, Armani Prive Rouge Malachite is great for summertime.
Crazy expensive but you only need to use a little, so it lasts a long time.
"ethnic"?
I shouldn’t respond but yes, oudwood is considered an ethnic scent, particularly in Middle Eastern and South Asian cultures. It has a long history of use in perfumes, incense, and traditional practices in that part of the world.
Anything by penhaligons. Well worth the price imo
My husband wears Penhaligons (Cairo and Blazing Mr Sam) and they smell amazing
My default scent has been French Waltz by Golf Le Fleur. I was skeptical bc it's from Tyler The Creator but I was able to try it out at one of his concerts (went bc my husband is a fan). I get a lot of compliments on it and it's not aggressively fragrant. It lasts all day and I don't spray too much.
I'm also a huge slut for Daisy Eau So Fresh by Marc Jacobs it's v clean and more feminine.
Honestly?
Please don't.
This. Such a turn off. so cloying.
It's awesome that I'm not seeing a lot of repeats. Wild how many scents there are haha
everyone's body chemistry is different. Go to sephora and explore for yourself. Something that might smell good on someone else might smell like axe body spray on you.
best long lasting colognes
Key Considerations for Long-Lasting Colognes:
Concentration: Look for higher concentrations of fragrance oils, such as Eau de Parfum (EDP) or Parfum, which typically last longer than Eau de Toilette (EDT) or Eau de Cologne.
Fragrance Notes:
Skin Type: Oily skin tends to hold fragrances longer than dry skin. Consider applying lotion before spraying cologne to enhance longevity.
Application Method: Apply cologne to pulse points (wrists, neck, behind ears) and consider layering with matching body products for enhanced staying power.
Recommendations for Long-Lasting Colognes:
Creed Aventus: Known for its unique blend of pineapple, birch, and musk, it offers a sophisticated scent that lasts all day.
Tom Ford Noir Extreme: A warm, spicy fragrance with notes of amber and vanilla, perfect for evening wear and special occasions.
Dior Sauvage: A fresh and spicy scent with bergamot and pepper, known for its impressive longevity and versatility.
Yves Saint Laurent La Nuit de l'Homme: A warm and sensual fragrance with cardamom and cedar, ideal for evening wear.
Chanel Bleu de Chanel: A fresh, woody scent that combines citrus and incense, offering a sophisticated and long-lasting option.
Takeaway: When selecting a long-lasting cologne, prioritize concentration, fragrance notes, and your skin type. Testing fragrances on your skin before purchasing can help you find the best match for longevity and personal preference.
